They had exactly what I was looking for.... sour belts! And the best part is that they had all kinds of flavors from strawberry to mango!!! Due to covid, they no longer have the thongs or scoops for the candies. You have to ask staff to give you clean thongs or scoopers to get your candy by weight. Spent approximately $5 for 3/4 of a pound of sour belts. And it felt very nostalgic and reminds me of my childhood. So I was very happy they had sour belts available! Candy Factory is a fun tourist spot where you can fill up on salt water taffies of a multitude of flavors! What's better than that? They also have a selection of toys, novelty candies, fudge, caramel apples, straight out a child's imagination. Filling up on candy and having it weighed is such a cool concept, especially given their large amount of inventory here. Barrels of taffy caught my eye instantly, and they even have a sugar stick filling station where you can mix pixie stick flavors in one tube! This place caters to imagination and a strong sweet tooth, making it easy for children and sugar fiends alike to gravitate towards! They also sell standard register shelf candies, including European chocolates and Asian candies! They were undergoing inventory restock, so it was slightly crowded with product on our visit. It was also a Tuesday so the liveliness it would normally have was at a mild low. Poor customer service. Went to this location on 8/7/18 around 3:00 pm and the two females working there were too busy to even acknowledge us. They were standing behind the counter talking, meanwhile my partner and I waited patiently for them to come and offer some help (we were standing in front of the register). Same thing format as these places: grab a basket and fill it with from the many barrels of candies they have around the store, then pay by the pound at the end. They also sell fudge and Slurpee's. As many of you have guessed, probably more expensive per oz. in places like these than if you bought them from Target or Safeway. My family likes this Candy Shop. Friednly & Helpful Service!! I found it because my son was looking for Harry Potter Chocolate Frogs. I called ahead, and the nice lady said they were nearly sold out, so she ordered some nice Fresh ones right away - and when we went there 2-3 days later she remembered my phone call, and she insisted on selling me only the Fresh ones, even though there were two older ones there for sale. Very Thoughtful!! The downside... I had a couple more dollars in my wallet, so I wanted to buy 'just a few pieces' of their tempting Salt Water Taffy... Well, I got my hand-picked basket up to the register, then I was told there was a 1/4 lb minimum for about $3.65. I had to abandon my taffy because I was too short on cash. They have every candy you are looking for, and you are gonna pay a hefty price for it. When on vacation by the ocean, I have to grab some salt water taffy. This is your typical pier candy store. Huge barrels everywhere and you pay by the pound for most items. They have 80 different flavors and it was fun to see the selection- chicken and waffles, blueberry muffin, peanut butter and jelly, etc. $17 a pound for salt water taffy. My little bag came to just over $17 and my boyfriend paid and we left. I would never pay such prices again. Even on the pier in San Francisco the taffy is so much cheaper. They are located on the top floor so the view is nice. In addition to the candy in barrel, they have a counter where they sell some chocolate dipped things and ice cream. We were sucked into the tourist trap. Keep your kids out of the store or before you know it your bill is $50. Small pieces of candy can add up quick. The one employee that was there was nice. Parking is off the pier on the street, lot, or garage. No parking directly in front of the store. Next time, I will bring my own taffy with me. read more

I went into the store on a sunday during a holiday weekend. Walked in and am amazed by how much candy. Decide to get some treats along with some fudge. I was surprised by how much a small piece of fudge was. $5 for a slice. Little overpriced. I paid and took one step while grabbing it out of the bag and it falls on the ground. I wait patiently in line again to let the cashier know I dropped it and would like another slice since I paid $5 for this piece that I haven't even tried yet. The cashier looks at me and says "It's not my fault". Are you kidding me! I dropped something that I paid for in your own store and you don't even have the decency to replace it. Then she decides to tell me I have to buy another piece of candy in order to get a piece of fudge I already paid for. This blew my mind. There should at least be something in the system they use to override problems like this to keep the customer happy. (broken items, dropped items, etc) This shows that the employees are not trained well in customer service. That is the first thing when it comes to customer service. Always help the customer out since they are buying items from your store. Because this is what happens. Bad review. Never going there again! Train your employees right. read more

Gawd why do I keep coming here? Probably because there's really not much else to do when we're walking around Cannery Row. Everytime I come here I really only want a few pieces of taffy. But no, you have to have at least a quarter pound of candy to make a purchase. So on my last visit, i ended up with a bag of chocolate covered gummy bears and some sour tape. My three pieces of taffy still got denied. Apparently the candy around the perimeter of the store and the barrels in the middle cannot be combine. WTF. As a visitor to Monterey, I wanted to try some saltwater taffy. Basically, you fill baskets full of candy and then they weigh it. NOTE: There is no sign that states how much is candy per pound. You need to ask.. and it's $14/lb. Expensive. So I just took one of every taffy that appeared good and it came out to be 0.25lbs for about 15 pieces of taffy. The taffy wasn't to die for and the feeling of the room was sad, but do they have a lot of overpriced candy selections. read more

We had an awful, awful experience with the sales woman on 1/9/16 @ 4:15 pm. We have previously gone there always while on vacation just like this time, only the saleswoman was rude, and dishonest with us. My daughter tried to buy 1piece of honeycomb chocolate with her own money. The saleswoman didn't wrap it in a bag, but just folded a piece of wax paper over it, so when my daughter tried to pick it up, it fell onto the floor. She hadn't received her change or receipt yet. The saleswoman saw it happen-then asked her if she wanted a bag! For the contaminated chocolate from the floor! I asked her to replace the chocolate with a fresh one and she very rudely refused, dismissing us from the line. I wasn't about to let my daughter be treated that way, and asked that she honor the customer (my daughter) since it was her mistake. She got even more rude so I asked for the manager, she told me I would have to call him myself, waving me off to some number on the wall. I insisted that she give me the number, finally got it and called only to get some random guy on the phone who knew nothing of the candy factory. I went back into the store and called her on the bogus number she gave me. She ignored me. DO NOT patronize this place unless you want to get ripped off and mistreated.
