This store has the biggest selection of saltwater taffy. I couldn't believe all the flavors they had. Everything is organized well. The taffy are in barrels so it's easy to browse through and find your favorite flavors. There is something for everyone here. read more

Spent wayyy to much on taffy and figured it was worth it i never get taffy. Opened up a few pieces and all were wayyyyy to melted and impossible to eat. Half of the candy is stuck to the wrapper with no shape at all. Not worth and would love a refund but they don't offer any read more

Candy Factory - Dirty - Candy Stores Near Me - Monterey, California

They had exactly what I was looking for.... sour belts! And the best part is that they had all kinds of flavors from strawberry to mango!!! Due to covid, they no longer have the thongs or scoops for the candies. You have to ask staff to give you clean thongs or scoopers to get your candy by weight. Spent approximately $5 for 3/4 of a pound of sour belts. And it felt very nostalgic and reminds me of my childhood. So I was very happy they had sour belts available! The store also had salt water taffy, other gummies, chocolates, Carmel apples, and chocolate covered strawberries. Other pre-packaged chocolates that you can buy at the grocery stores too! read more

Came across the Candy Factory walking around near the pier. Omg Kid Candy Heaven. Lots of different flavors of taffy and lots of old school faves. If you have a sweet tooth and your in town this is the place to stop by at, I am sure you will find what you are looking for. Picked up some goodies to bring home. Oh and the fudge was so yummy. They even offered samples. Good deal. Yum! read more

Huge selection. And a number of candies that bring me back to my childhood. Like Fizz, buttons, and the little plastic bottles with liquid inside. But, probably very similar to other candy stores in the area. What made me come into this shop was the Disney characters in neon lights. read more

Everytime I come to Monterey I stop here as a tradition to pick up taffy but it seems this time it was little pricey. I bought a little over a handful of taffy and other candies and the total was $5.00. I may have to stop this tradition because didn't seem right to me to have paid that amount for such little candy read more

Chocolate covered bacon? Oh yes!!! And lots more of a gazillion choices of fine candies to choose from. An over the top selection of salt water taffy. Too any choices for me. In fact I think I even saw Mary See shopping for candies. A great place for the candy aficionado read more

Lame. $16 and change for a lb of taffy. Taffy was stuck to the paper so you have nibble it off. 2 girls working there couldn't care less. Rally wish I had read Yelp fitst. read more

Stopped in here on 09/14/20, during a weekend get a way. Was so excited this place has been here for years. Lots of selection. I bought a whole bag of salt water taffy. I didnt try anything while in the store. Unfortunately, the taffy was mostly all old and tasted as such. I think COVID has reduced sales and as a result probably affected the turn over of product. read more

You're not going to believe what we found in our candy! We kindly asked for a refund quickly after we purchased the candy and the lady who sold us the candy was absolutely rude and unprofessional, she didn't care and told us NO REFUND! We are absolutely horrified! View the photos of what we found. I wouldn't even give them this one star that I was forced to give in order to post this! read more

Another place like Candy Land and Candy Baron. Same thing format as these places: grab a basket and fill it with from the many barrels of candies they have around the store, then pay by the pound at the end. They also sell fudge and Slurpee's. As many of you have guessed, probably more expensive per oz. in places like these than if you bought them from Target or Safeway. But kids will love places likes these, and its a kick watching their eyes pop out when they look into the store, and run up and down the aisles. read more

Candy Factory is a fun tourist spot where you can fill up on salt water taffies of a multitude of flavors! What's better than that? They also have a selection of toys, novelty candies, fudge, caramel apples, straight out a child's imagination. Filling up on candy and having it weighed is such a cool concept, especially given their large amount of inventory here. Barrels of taffy caught my eye instantly, and they even have a sugar stick filling station where you can mix pixie stick flavors in one tube! This place caters to imagination and a strong sweet tooth, making it easy for children and sugar fiends alike to gravitate towards! They also sell standard register shelf candies, including European chocolates and Asian candies! They were undergoing inventory restock, so it was slightly crowded with product on our visit. It was also a Tuesday so the liveliness it would normally have was at a mild low. Great place to stop for something fun and unique to take home and snack on- would highly recommend the candy selection by weight. Anything else you can find locally. read more

Poor customer service. Went to this location on 8/7/18 around 3:00 pm and the two females working there were too busy to even acknowledge us. They were standing behind the counter talking, meanwhile my partner and I waited patiently for them to come and offer some help (we were standing in front of the register). Please hire people who are more customer oriented, and actually help the customer. Go to another candy store and avoid this one! read more

Walk-in... tremendous selection of candy... fill your bag with what you want... Get it weighed - sticker shock! Their loose candy is $15/lb. That is insane. I want to kick myself for not asking for their pricing ahead of time. It is obvious they are aware of their blatant gouging of the mostly tourist crowd by not having per lb. candy pricing displayed *anywhere* in the entire store. The snarky response when asked why this was: "people ask what it costs". Oh yeah? Maybe in a middle eastern bazaar and then the negotiation begins... Not here. I suggest avoiding this sham of a business. Consider the Candy Baron instead - just a short stroll away at 601 Wave St. read more

Not only were the good and plenty's stale (which should be damn near impossible) there was a dried bug stuck to my spree candy, how sick! I should call the Heath department! Candy Factory - No joke after spending 15$ on a small bag of candy there was a dried bug stuck to my spree!!! Barf!!! Never again!!! - Candy Stores Near Me - Monterey, California

My family likes this Candy Shop. Friednly & Helpful Service!! I found it because my son was looking for Harry Potter Chocolate Frogs. I called ahead, and the nice lady said they were nearly sold out, so she ordered some nice Fresh ones right away - and when we went there 2-3 days later she remembered my phone call, and she insisted on selling me only the Fresh ones, even though there were two older ones there for sale. Very Thoughtful!! The downside... I had a couple more dollars in my wallet, so I wanted to buy 'just a few pieces' of their tempting Salt Water Taffy... Well, I got my hand-picked basket up to the register, then I was told there was a 1/4 lb minimum for about $3.65. I had to abandon my taffy because I was too short on cash. Overall - A very Good Candy Shop, pricey, but very nice and thoughtful service! read more

Typical candy store, but of course, since this is on Cannery Row, really expensive. We got a little bit less than a pound of the taffy there and we really liked it. We got to pick exactly what taffys we wanted and they have pretty much any candy you want here. Great place for the kids in my opinion or for any adult that wants a sugar fix. $14 for a pound of candy. About 60 pieces. read more

So yea my boyfriend wanted a pound of Reese pieces, I didn't really care since we don't eat much sweets.... next thing you know it's $16.60 for 1 lb & 30 oz... worse place to buy. Also the worker can care less, if anyone was to steal it's like worth a quarter each candy of Reese piece lol really adds up read more

Boy do they tantalize you with all the buckets of candy. What a disappointing after you eat what you have been tempted to buy. Most of what we bought was stale, hard, and just yucky to eat. May be the taffy or wrapped candy is better. The other stuff, don't bother. Who knows how long it's been sitting in those containers. read more

As much as I love taffy and their variety of flavors at this place, it was way too expensive... Of course I didn't know how much it cost until I saw a sign right near the cash register which is when I started regretting my bag of candy. $16 per quarter pound for salt water taffy? Really. I asked twice, she said the same thing. So, for $64, you can get a pound of taffy. Paid $16 for a pound at the wharf. read more

I guess you can't really expect much from a candy store centered in the heart of a tourist destination. The gummies were old and stuck together, prices were a bit steep for EVERYTHING, but its neat seeing some of the old candy I grew up with. read more

They have every candy you are looking for, and you are gonna pay a hefty price for it. When on vacation by the ocean, I have to grab some salt water taffy. This is your typical pier candy store. Huge barrels everywhere and you pay by the pound for most items. They have 80 different flavors and it was fun to see the selection- chicken and waffles, blueberry muffin, peanut butter and jelly, etc. $17 a pound for salt water taffy. My little bag came to just over $17 and my boyfriend paid and we left. I would never pay such prices again. Even on the pier in San Francisco the taffy is so much cheaper. They are located on the top floor so the view is nice. In addition to the candy in barrel, they have a counter where they sell some chocolate dipped things and ice cream. We were sucked into the tourist trap. Keep your kids out of the store or before you know it your bill is $50. Small pieces of candy can add up quick. The one employee that was there was nice. Parking is off the pier on the street, lot, or garage. No parking directly in front of the store. Next time, I will bring my own taffy with me. read more

If salt water taffy is your thing, then you've hit the jackpot here. They've got a million different flavors. But other than that I was not impressed. Very expensive, definitely lacking in vintage candy, and no customer service. There's so many other candy shops all over the place here that I wouldn't waste my time stopping by this one. read more

I went into the store on a sunday during a holiday weekend. Walked in and am amazed by how much candy. Decide to get some treats along with some fudge. I was surprised by how much a small piece of fudge was. $5 for a slice. Little overpriced. I paid and took one step while grabbing it out of the bag and it falls on the ground. I wait patiently in line again to let the cashier know I dropped it and would like another slice since I paid $5 for this piece that I haven't even tried yet. The cashier looks at me and says "It's not my fault". Are you kidding me! I dropped something that I paid for in your own store and you don't even have the decency to replace it. Then she decides to tell me I have to buy another piece of candy in order to get a piece of fudge I already paid for. This blew my mind. There should at least be something in the system they use to override problems like this to keep the customer happy. (broken items, dropped items, etc) This shows that the employees are not trained well in customer service. That is the first thing when it comes to customer service. Always help the customer out since they are buying items from your store. Because this is what happens. Bad review. Never going there again! Train your employees right. read more

STEVE L! OMG...how can you even compare the fudge from Candy Factory to Target or Safeway! Yummmmmmmmmmmmmm

Have stopped here in the past to get Saltwater Taffy has gone way down hill since! Very rude, not helpful, prices have changed big time. We used to be able to get a little of one kind of fudge and a little of another to make the quarter pound now you have to get the same kind only. Just very bad experience overall. read more

Bought $43 worth of candy and truffles here. My friends and I opened the truffles on the ride home. I bit into my truffle, I was SO EXCITED.... Gawd why do I keep coming here? Probably because there's really not much else to do when we're walking around Cannery Row. Everytime I come here I really only want a few pieces of taffy. But no, you have to have at least a quarter pound of candy to make a purchase. So on my last visit, i ended up with a bag of chocolate covered gummy bears and some sour tape. My three pieces of taffy still got denied. Apparently the candy around the perimeter of the store and the barrels in the middle cannot be combine. WTF. The sign said "candy" needs to be at least 1/4 lb. The last I heard taffy is considered candy. Ugh. And those chocolate covered gummy bears? Not worth it. I should have just waited and got them at Safeway instead. read more

As a visitor to Monterey, I wanted to try some saltwater taffy. Basically, you fill baskets full of candy and then they weigh it. NOTE: There is no sign that states how much is candy per pound. You need to ask.. and it's $14/lb. Expensive. So I just took one of every taffy that appeared good and it came out to be 0.25lbs for about 15 pieces of taffy. The taffy wasn't to die for and the feeling of the room was sad, but do they have a lot of overpriced candy selections. read more

I only wanted a little divinty and a lottle fudge. I asked for the minimum of 1/4 lb to be split between the two kinds. The worker proceded give me about 1/2 lb and ask if it was fine. No I just want a little bit. I guess this isnt allowed to purchase just what you eant because she was irritated to put a bit of it back. Okay so $8.50 later for a very small amount of fudge, its hard dried out and taste bad. I could deal with the prices if it wasnt garbage. read more

I don't know why another 1 star review would deter anyone from going in here, but I felt it necessary. they are trying to get a dollar each for a little wrapped square of chocolate that would be maybe 15 cents at 711.
