A very cute store! It's an A+ effort for the store to stock up like them! The product selection is huge and very interesting! For cavity-phobia, this shop is still a great eye candy! My husband even found his childhood favorite! They have adult candy (think chocolate with a variety of liquor fillings), flavor infused self made vodka and even adult sex candy. Also a bunch of full size or even giant size candy bars, candy shape clothing, even some Trump jokes! Definitely an interesting stop. The store is cute but everything is highly overpriced, mainly the "bulk" candy. I know sourcing things during the pandemic have been hard, but the store was nearly empty of the novelty items I come here for. There were virtually no Pusheen items, and what few there were were all in a small corner. It's Sugar is one of my favorite novelty stores but I think it'd be better if they reconsidered their bulk candy pricing. Of course I'll be back and I hope things get back on track! read more

Wow we happened to walk by this "sweet" little candy shop on the way to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. With grandkids in tow, we had to peek inside. The wonderful, generous owner gave the kiddos a handful of gummies. We promised to come back, which we did. After a long day at the aquarium we didn't want to buy too many sweets. Each kiddo got a bag with a few goodies inside. Again, we were given these bags free! Now I'm not suggesting that you try this freebie for yourself, it's not a nonprofit as my granddaughter suggested. I'm just relaying this story to let you know that this outstanding shop owner was very kind. Now as to the candy, my gosh where to start? There are so many bins of multiple kinds of candy to be had. It's hard to explain. There was a whole round full of different kinds of gummies. Everything from bears to sharks, to watermelon shapes and more. There were chocolate groupings and so much more. There was also the largest gummy bear we'd ever seen! This is seriously the best candy shop I've ever been in. An item that's clearly labeled $6.99 was scanned as $11.99 and then when we caught the error, we walked back to the cashier who attempted to refund us but we were charged $7.99 for a totally different item. Visited this cute place in Monterey. Unfortunately did not have a good experience here the girls working there did not greet anyone and was not friendly. They just stood at the cashier and stared. With the pandemic you would think they have a staff standing at the door to tell you they provide gloves and hand sanitizer but we didn't see that until we got into the middle section. Talk about bad customer service . As we got to the counter the girl that rang us up was rude as we did not know if you got one of the boxes it would charge $14.99 a lb. She just had a really bad attitude. We ended up spending close to $80 and Definitely not the type of service I would pay for. It would have been worth it if the customer service was at least decent. A very fun nostalgic and supersized candy store. The self serve bins are endless and you can choose how little or how much you want I circled the bins like 5 times to make sure I didn't forget anything. The candy in bulk all looks fresh and the choices are endless (there is a new knock off candy store in downtown that serves stale old and overpriced candy) so you must come here. I love candy! This candy store was pretty great! I kind of didn't like the display bowls that you scoop candy out of. Seems like they could use a better system. The choices! Loads of gummies, chololate, hard candy's, exotic and imports! If you walk over to the walls you will find some really cool stuff. They had what looked like breakfast cereal boxes. I walked up thinking I'd find a blast from the past but was pleasently suprised and happy to see it was large boxes of candy! They have so many cool things to look at, I just wanted to eat them all! Such a tourist trap but we get sucked in every time whenever we visit the aquarium. It's a must stop for us along Cannery Row. Love all the choices and it's pretty cool they have Harry Potter candies including chocolate frogs and butter beer (ehh..that's an acquired taste in my humble opinion). The place is pretty clean and lots to choose from if you have a sweet tooth. My faves are the Reese's pretzels and Reese's dark chocolate cups. Such a cute store with all the novelty candy you could dream of. The store is exceptionally clean and organized. Plus, they have done an excellent job with creating a safe shopping experience during the Covid-19 pandemic--taking all the necessary precautions. I really appreciated how the candy bins are still in place, but instead of self service, they are now separately bagged. Such a nice touch! Also their customer service is top notch! They recently replaced a broken item we purchased with no hesitation. We will always make a special visit to It's Sugar whenever we are in the area. read more

One of the funnest traditions I have on every single holiday I go on is to go to ALLLLL the candy stores. They're frequently very touristy but so lovely. This one was no exception. They had all the options you could want, sweet, chocolate, sour, retro, new things you've never heard of. All of it. And it's just a few store fronts down from the Aquarium. This store is well maintained and clean especially since there are so many people coming in and out. We went to many candy stores while in Monterey, and even though they didn't have my beloved chocolate covered honeycomb, they did have many, many tasty treats and this is the one candy store I would go to in Monterey if I could only go to one. read more

It really colorful in here and there are many different choices available. There was even a SNL corner with products and candies that are related. The character section with my little pony and frozen stuff we're adorable (pastel glittery jelly beans worry me a bit though). My favorite would be the giant rice krispies display, 2lbs of yummy goodness. Also, there were giant boxes of nerds and other candies, 2 for 20...I would totally go for that if I wasn't worried about sugary treats. Dropping by It's Sugar we snuck in for some sweets during our Monterrey stroll. The boy got fifties candy and I got a mixture of coke bottles, sugar O's and a chocolate covered gummi bear. Om nom. The prices were pretty good for candy by the pound and their selection was pretty good. The best part though? Each by the pound candy had the ingredients listed. Score. They have a HUGE unique selection of candy!! It's unbelievable. From gummies to sour belts to hard candy, and the most extravagant flavors also (strawberry banana gummy bears?? Uh what.) If anything, this place is a haven candy shop. They got giant versions of rice krispies, ginormous boxes of mike & ikes, and a 1 lb gummy bear.They push Sweet Factory to a whole other level. However, a 1/4 lb is 3.24, so imagine an entire pound is about $12-13 give or take. Thats some expensive candy. Better off buying the candy that you can't find at your local CVS or Walgreens. They also sell little knick knacks such as Domo plushies and a horsehead.. oh and this cute gummy bear keg. Such a touristy little place and a dentist's nightmare--but super fun, and couldn't resist browsing a bit. We got a few--and I do mean literally 4 of them--malted milk mills, two dark and two milk chocolate. My husband and I love black licorice, and bought some salted Australian licorice, which not that many places have. Loads of bins of open containers with candies, which you put into plastic bags wearing plastic gloves, which they supply. Very cute, clean, with a ton of variety, and you can buy as little or as much as you want, with no minimum limit, which I love. read more

The store is cute but the customer service is horrible. I'm from L.A and my family and I are on vacation. My mom and I walked into this store because my mom wanted some sour candy . Anyhow we were in there for a good half hour looking at all the cite stuff they had . By the time we got yo the register there was a guy with a little boy checking out . The girl at the register ( she had dark brow hair -shoulder length) was talking to the guy for quite a while not taking into consideration that there were two customers waiting in line . Anyhow , we finally paid , as we were waking out we see the rest of my family waking in front of the store . I tell them about the place and my nieces wanted to go inside . As I held the door this girl ( the one that was at the register ) pulls the door in , I turned around and told her hey we're going inside . She then said , "no, you can't ". I was like what, why? She then said im going to lunch and will be back at 4:15- the time was 3pm . Im writing this review because this worker needs to be trained in customer service .
