Very organized but super low on organic products! The cashier also didn't say a word and a look! So just get your stuff and get out

Pharmacy staff are super accommodating. Took my GoodRx card and even provided prescription at a lower price than on the GoodRx web site.

They have a good amount of ready made items to grab if you want to have a picnic, and local goods too. It's expensive for sure, but not outrageous for a specialty grocery store.

This morning, both employees saw me standing at the counter waiting. One was folding towels, the other was facing me. They made eye contact multiple times, then deliberately looked away without acknowledging me. It was very obvious I needed help with something. I had placed an online order for two sandwiches, which came out to $33.69. For that price, the least I expect is basic acknowledgment. After waiting long enough, I finally asked, "Am I in the wrong area?" Instead of a simple, polite response, I was met with an irritated "What do you need?" from both of them, as if I was inconveniencing them. When I explained I had an online order, I was told, "It's right there," with a dismissive point toward the shelves. No greeting, no guidance, no courtesy. I'm a local resident and work in healthcare. Even on difficult days, I make a conscious effort to treat people with respect and kindness. It's not that hard to acknowledge someone standing right in front of you. This world is already full of enough frustration and rage. A little basic courtesy goes a long way. On a positive note, the hot dog stand guy out front is always super nice and friendly, which makes the contrast even more noticeable. Customer service doesn't require perfection, just basic decency. Unfortunately, that seems to be missing here.

There's always Whole Foods Safeway, etc. but a hidden gem in Carmel Valley Village is Jerome's. It's not one of these huge Safeway Whole Foods warehouse size stores. It's actually small and terribly efficient in a good way. He has his own butchers and they actually butcher. Nothing comes prepackaged in cellophane packages. Excellent meat, fish, poultry. A very nice selection of produce local providers lot of organics and a homey feeling. This is definitely a local spot. It's about 12 miles from Highway one and a nice ride through the valley to get to the Village. Jerome has some great wines at reasonable prices and as you might guess a fairly good uniqueness to his French offerings. The same could be said for local SLH/Monterey vintages again at reasonable prices I found some price less than the wineries. Look it's not the size of total wine, but it doesn't have to be. It just has to be good stuff at the right price that you can enjoy when you're making dinner at home. And I always seem to managed to buy a few bottles when I'm in there. Today was a 2021 Pisoni reserve Pinot--yum. They do a really good job each day preparing certain foods that you can have for dinner. There's prime rib night. There's pork chops. There's spareribs chicken all cooked fresh that day. Want a sandwich no problem. They've got a crew that makes what just about whatever you want. Bottom line they do with the big guys can't do.-- high-quality really good service and staff that seems to always smile. Enjoy yourself.

We ordered 3 different sandwiches. All three were built generally the same. I personally had a pastrami on a French roll with several veggies to add freshness. Although the sandwich price at $12 is on par for custom built sandwiches these days, I was hoping for more meat and veggies that would stand apart from other delis. But it was probably the least filled sandwich that we all have had in a while. The bread was fresh as well as the ingredients, there just wasn't enough meat or vegetables in the sandwich. I think it is a decent sandwich for the convenience. I just won't get another sandwich or seek it out when looking for a deli sandwich. By the way, they did put a healthy portion of alfalfa sprouts. So if you like sprouts, maybe Jerome's will be your sandwich place.

After visiting other fun cities, we got into Carmel before 6:30pm with the goal of watching the sunset overlooking the ocean, which is within close proximity to where we were staying. Before we walked down towards the sea, we decided to look for a coffee house, so that we can drink something warm as the sun descended. We found Carmel Bakery and the White Mocha Hazelnut coffee they made me was tasty and hit the spot as we strolled towards the beach. While we were walking through the main drag of Carmel, many of the shops were closed, but fortunately for us, Carmel Bakery was opened. The bakery is a few shops down from The Xocolatl Garden, next door to B&G Jewelers, and a few shops east from the popular Dametra Cafe Greek restaurant. It's a cute coffee shop with its pretzel logo signage hanging above their glass window showing off their baked goodies. We walked to the bakery, but there is street parking. Inside the cafe, it's cozy with several tables/chairs settings. On one of the walls hangs a pic of Carmel Bakery when it was first established in 1899 and it's amazing that the bakery is still in its original building 127 years later. There are old school pics of families enjoying birthday cakes, hanging baking tools and propped up glassware, and a quote from John Steinbeck arched on one of their walls. The focal point of Carmel Bakery is their central glass display case showing their pastries, cookies, and pretzels. They also have a display case featuring Gelato Artigianale, which is house-made artisanal Italian gelato. Besides espresso drinks, coffee, and tea, they also serve iced drinks, gelato, an acai bowl, and breakfast items. If we're ever in Carmel again, I'd love to try their savory items, but we visited solely to purchase coffee. I decided to order a White Mocha with Hazelnut flavoring. After taking my first sip, I remarked to my wife that Carmel Bakery's coffee was delicious and flavorful. The coffee was hot and provided that necessary warmth as the sun was starting to go down. Drinking a tasty coffee as we watched the sunset in beautiful Carmel was the proverbial icing on the Carmel Bakery cake. Glad we came upon one of the few businesses still open and glad we were able to drink coffee as we experienced the breathtaking environment we were vacationing in.
