Stopped in today for a few items. Its super clean and they seem to have an attentive staff that is willing to go out of their way for a customer. Very wll manicured store and easy to find items. Looks like my neighborhood Safeway back at home. What impressed me today is seeing some staff follow a customer to their car to hand them back their money that they dropped. Lupe is the most unprofessional Manager I have ever spoke with in a Supermarket. She was accusing me of my items returned, to me it was Rancid and not eatable. I am a Heart Patient, why would I hurt my body. She accused me of leaving my food in the car, seriously! Furthermore, she said don't you have Safeway App! Where I am visiting from we do not have Safeway in my area. I only shop at Whole Foods in my area. I went to the Seafood department and ask for the Manager and told him the dungeon-crab was bad, he agreed with me and tossed out the old. He was shocked that Lupe acted unprofessional towards me. I also asked Lupe if she had the Corporate office number, she said no. Why don't you look it up on google! A week ago I was given flowers from the Safeway at the Crossroads in Carmel, CA. They were beautiful and I immediately put them in a vase. Within days the stems were rotten and smelly and I had to throw them out. I went back to buy more flowers since this is the place I usually get them. I mentioned to the very nice sales clerk what had happened but at no point did I ask for free replacement flowers. I just wanted the store to be aware of the problem. I fully expected to buy more flowers. She said thank you for letting her know. That should have been the end of the story but said she wanted to talk to her manager about replacing them. He came over had me repeat what I had told the sales clerk. He then asked what I wanted and basically suggested that since I didn't have a receipt or the rotten flowers to prove the sale I was just trying to get free flowers. Was I insulted, you better believe it. I won't be buying my flowers at the Safeway in the Crossroads in Carmel ever again. Actually I won't be shopping at that Safeway ever again. read more

I appreciate a $1 money order. My bank charges 3 50 and post office charges 2 50 I politely waited 40 minutes for 2 money orders. The GM a bald older looking man was checking shoppers feverishly to a backed up line of senior citizens. While I appreciate a little wait. This was 40 minutes. Totally no bueno. Maybe this GM needs to schedule more checkers to help the flow. Or maybe he needs to choose another occupation. In my experience getting money orders has been a hassle when I ask him fir them.. Shopping at Safeway has been a family staple for as long as I can remember. This beautiful store is big, clean, and has everything you need for day to day groceries, as well as elegant holiday delights. This particular location not only has a Starbucks, but the deli and bakery are amazing. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the service I received last Saturday. I was in town visiting family for the weekend, and my Mom asked me to pick up a few last minute items that we needed for dinner. As I was paying, the guy cashier came over the the credit card thing, and started punching in numbers. I asked him what he was doing, and he stated that he was taking a customer service survey for me. He said he didn't want me to be bothered with it, so he would do it. Loved coming here because we could make our own food from our hotel instead of paying the high restaurant prices. This Safeway is open 24 hours and offers a huge variety of things. the food appeared to be fresh. I especially loved this Safeway because they had prepared vegetables already cut for pretty affordable prices. I never really have seen this before. I can't even express how disgusting the Safeway bathroom is ALWAYS filthy!! I've complain so many times and it always seems like it's a New Manager. High turnover rate at this store. Question is WHY?! The Chevron bathroom down the street is cleaner! Second complains they MAY have 1 bagger!!! 9 times out of 10 I have to bag my own groceries!! After paying such high prices at Safeway, WTH am I doing having to Bag My own groceries that I PAID FOR!!! They tell me, we can't keep baggers b/c of the union dues. Stopped here to purchase groceries . A few items we needed were out of stock . Store was clean but staff is rude. The lady at the self check out made us feel uncomfortable. She scolded my daughter in law because she asked her for help on a mistake on the screen . Spoke to her rudely . She kept looking at us like we were stealing throughout our checkout . Other self checkouts were being used but we were only ones being looked at . Made us feel unwelcome . Not sure if it due to us being the only Hispanics at the store. Not only does this Safeway carry beer, wine, AND liquor,* but their club card gets you shockingly good deals on said booze. $10 off a decent $30 bottle of prosecco? A bottle of Bulleit for $20 (marked down from $32)?! I don't understand, but I will enjoy. We ended up buying enough booze that (1) my credit card company flagged the purchase (too many groceries out of state is an issue, apparently), and (2) we were forced to drink Belgian beer at 7 am prior to our flight back to NYC. Oh, and they also have all the fruit, vegetables, bread, cheese, proteins, condiments, etc. that you need to cook...anything, really. Today 4/8/20, coronavirus has 33,077 new case just one day in USA. Governments tell everyone wear face mask and gloves when we go to shop in the grocery stores. But I went Safeway store at Carmel. The produce department few workers are not wearing face mask and gloves to set up all apple, orange, banana, kiwk fruit and other kinds fruits and vegetables. That caught me concern about our safety. The workers were talking to each other all that time I was watching. They spit their mouth water all over the fruit and vegetables. I was upset and asked them why they don't wear face mask and gloves. But they said nothing and keep doing what they do. It is sad!! People so selfish not care for other people live and dead. What is going on in your store? Why is it when I come shopping every time there is something new that you are doing to customers? We stay 6ft apart, wear masks, we hear you on the PA reminder over and over. We now have to go one way down an isle and can not put items on the conveyor belt unless the clerk tells us to. I was far away from the customer in front of me with an empty conveyor belt and she still would not allow me to put my items on the belt. Stopping by to pick up a hearty sandwich at the deli with the hope that we'll be satisfied with the quality and service like the other Safeway branch. But we're definitely disappointed, the deli staff Cynthia didn't bother to ask us what else we want in the our sandwiches besides the bread, turkey, pesto and avocado that we received. She kept staring at us as she'd never people like us before. I mean she didn't even offer to ring us up or ask if there's anything else we wanted (didn't bother trying to sell anything to us, more for the business). Poor costumer service, unpleasant and didn't even know how to operate the register, I explain what's going ie reason why after I put my card I didn't get a receipt or she didn't know how to operate the register and just ask to use cash or something instead of staring at me. Today, I walked over to the floral department at Carmel Safeway and was cheerfully greeted by Aurora and asked if I needed help with anything. I have never been acknowledged before while floral shopping, so I felt extremely welcomed. Aurora helped me pick out a couple of small plants and a balloon for a friend's birthday. I can be pretty indecisive, but she helped so much by asking me the right questions and helping me pick the healthiest looking flowers. Her enthusiasm for helping me find the right gift was extremely appreciated. She went above and beyond with her customer service, and I will not need to think twice before coming back next time I need any plants or flowers, and I will be recommending this Safeway's floral department to everyone I know! This is my preferred Safeway in the area. I love the self checkout lines, the store is clean, including the bathrooms. The shelves aren't always stocked the greatest, and it is hard to find a staff person. But it seems to be the cleanest and calmest Safeway in the area. I just wish they had self checkout lines open earlier and later, I do a lot of my shopping at target because Safeway limits when they're self checkout lines are open. read more

The parking lot on the weekend of the fourth of July was practically empty. Everything I needed was in stock and on sale. When entering the plaza Jeff and Tony (boyfriend and younger brother) decided to make ape noises and jump up and down (this was a dare made in the car). After scaring the crap out of a woman and her daughter-- we checked out the fire watch/ evacuation map.... it is crazy to me that Baja Catina and other spots we frequent are in danger! We fanned out our mission. I saw a Starbucks and was elated.... but my gift cards from my high school students were in my other purse DAMNNNNNNNNIT! Tony and Jeff stared in awe at the various choices of buy 2 for $5.00 on Lucerne Ice Cream before deciding on some moose flavor and another concoction that is pretty much sugar, fat and cream...and more sugar. As they argued on which flavor (by this time I feel like a mother of two children) to buy I went over and got a ton of hot dogs (32 to be exact) and then I went to find the buns. My buns were grabbed by the boyfriend as he came up behind me...triumphant at the root beer float ice cream flavor that was chosen..my brother got his moose flavor..... Both laughed at me (a-holes) because the hot dog buns were high up and I could not reach them. Tony, as usual, got them down for me and patted my head..jerk. Check out was painless... parking was painless...we were back at Dad's house in twenty minutes. read more
