This is a review for their hot food section only: I go here every other day for my lunch break and it always has such a wide variety to choose from. I usually either get the chicken tenders and soup, or a delicious sandwich. One of the workers turned me on to the cheesy roll for my bread and I can never go back to plain French. It's SO GOOD! I was told they bake it on location. My only drawback with the food section is that sometimes it takes an extremely long time to get through the line when there is one. They definitely need 2 sandwich makers during lunch rush. I will absolutely continue patronizing this location. It is WAY better than the PG location. Thanks for continuously feeding me a delicious lunch! read more

Safeway - Grocery Near Me - Carmel, California

Stopped in today for a few items. Its super clean and they seem to have an attentive staff that is willing to go out of their way for a customer. Very wll manicured store and easy to find items. Looks like my neighborhood Safeway back at home. What impressed me today is seeing some staff follow a customer to their car to hand them back their money that they dropped. This shopping center has pretty much all you need if you are in Carmel Valley for sure. read more

After repeated bad pick up orders, I find it impossible to order groceries at CrossRoads Safeway, that don't end up so poorly packed with much of the produce and other perishables being damaged by the person filling the order. Crushes fruits, berries spilled into the bag, bruised bananas, missing items or wrong items all together. I ordered lettuce twice and received Cabbage both times, even when I also ordered cabbage. There was 0 care given to my order. Items that were advertised on Friday specials were "out of stock"even when the order was placed early in the day. Some items are never available even when they are in the weekly add. None of the meats that show as being in my order were there about $50 worth were just missing. Shop at Safeway, at your own risk. read more

Sale Deal Day! Yah! BUT, they don't have the item in Stock? Also, Sandi the CS Mgr, is so unhappy, so unfriendly, she needs a long vacation and a new vocation. Her Long fake nails are highly prone to being unsanitary. Studies show they harbor significantly more bacteria, fungi, and viruses than short, natural nails because the space underneath creates a dark, moist trap that is difficult to clean. Common sense 101: Please be smart and stop the spread of disease. Washing your hands often, especially, after touching the 8 POS computer screens at the express lanes all day? Perhaps, long fake nails should not be allowed in a supermarket to prevent illness? Keep it Clean and Safe is very important now. Make it "easy peasy, lemon squeezy" for All customers. Help me to understand why Safeway can't keep my favorite products on the shelves. I'm a fan of Project Forager. The blue one. And Safeway can't stock it, can't keep it available, here's what I do notice, they order the same amount of this brand every time even though no one seems to touch the strawberry and the coconut versions and the blue label vanilla vanishes immediately. Two days! Ummm how come the produce manager that orders this type of protein shake isn't paying attention? read more

Lupe is the most unprofessional Manager I have ever spoke with in a Supermarket. She was accusing me of my items returned, to me it was Rancid and not eatable. I am a Heart Patient, why would I hurt my body. She accused me of leaving my food in the car, seriously! Furthermore, she said don't you have Safeway App! Where I am visiting from we do not have Safeway in my area. I only shop at Whole Foods in my area. I went to the Seafood department and ask for the Manager and told him the dungeon-crab was bad, he agreed with me and tossed out the old. He was shocked that Lupe acted unprofessional towards me. I also asked Lupe if she had the Corporate office number, she said no. Why don't you look it up on google! I am not sure what is her issue today, she definitely needs to be coached to talk to a guest. I was referred by Hyatt Carmel Highland Inn. Great shopping. Lots of varieties and some deals like 50% off wraps, sandwiches and salads. Also 5 dollars Fridays.

A week ago I was given flowers from the Safeway at the Crossroads in Carmel, CA. They were beautiful and I immediately put them in a vase. Within days the stems were rotten and smelly and I had to throw them out. I went back to buy more flowers since this is the place I usually get them. I mentioned to the very nice sales clerk what had happened but at no point did I ask for free replacement flowers. I just wanted the store to be aware of the problem. I fully expected to buy more flowers. She said thank you for letting her know. That should have been the end of the story but said she wanted to talk to her manager about replacing them. He came over had me repeat what I had told the sales clerk. He then asked what I wanted and basically suggested that since I didn't have a receipt or the rotten flowers to prove the sale I was just trying to get free flowers. Was I insulted, you better believe it. I won't be buying my flowers at the Safeway in the Crossroads in Carmel ever again. Actually I won't be shopping at that Safeway ever again. read more

I appreciate a $1 money order. My bank charges 3 50 and post office charges 2 50 I politely waited 40 minutes for 2 money orders. The GM a bald older looking man was checking shoppers feverishly to a backed up line of senior citizens. While I appreciate a little wait. This was 40 minutes. Totally no bueno. Maybe this GM needs to schedule more checkers to help the flow. Or maybe he needs to choose another occupation. In my experience getting money orders has been a hassle when I ask him fir them.. He uses the same old sorry excuse. " oh my code is not working " read more

Shopping at Safeway has been a family staple for as long as I can remember. This beautiful store is big, clean, and has everything you need for day to day groceries, as well as elegant holiday delights. This particular location not only has a Starbucks, but the deli and bakery are amazing. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the service I received last Saturday. I was in town visiting family for the weekend, and my Mom asked me to pick up a few last minute items that we needed for dinner. As I was paying, the guy cashier came over the the credit card thing, and started punching in numbers. I asked him what he was doing, and he stated that he was taking a customer service survey for me. He said he didn't want me to be bothered with it, so he would do it. I kinda laughed, and said ok, whatever. I'm pretty sure Safeway wants their customers honest opinions, instead of a cashier falsifying results in his favored. read more

Decided to get a breakfast burrito here before my doctors appointment. Review is strictly for the deli department, this is just about the best breakfast you can have, if you want it fast that is. It's always fresh, delicious, 100% recommend always. Truthfully I could eat one of their breakfast burritos from Safeway every morning if calories weren't real. Great breakfast overall, and very filling. They have tons of options you can choose from; bacon, sausage or ham or you can have all three to make it a trio - thank you! read more

This store is ok. I have been going to the location on Canyon del Rey because it's closer to home. Today I called and the phone rang, I selected the meat department and was on hold so long it began ringing again. I gave up and drove over there. They didn't have what I needed. Would have been nice if they could answer the phone so as to save someone a needless trip. read more

Loved coming here because we could make our own food from our hotel instead of paying the high restaurant prices. This Safeway is open 24 hours and offers a huge variety of things. the food appeared to be fresh. I especially loved this Safeway because they had prepared vegetables already cut for pretty affordable prices. I never really have seen this before. Usually prepared asparagus or Brussel sprouts usually cost a lot but here it was only $5. Anyways, having this store so close to town was fabulous. read more

I can't even express how disgusting the Safeway bathroom is ALWAYS filthy!! I've complain so many times and it always seems like it's a New Manager. High turnover rate at this store. Question is WHY?! The Chevron bathroom down the street is cleaner! Second complains they MAY have 1 bagger!!! 9 times out of 10 I have to bag my own groceries!! After paying such high prices at Safeway, WTH am I doing having to Bag My own groceries that I PAID FOR!!! They tell me, we can't keep baggers b/c of the union dues. Cuts in to their Very Low Wages!!! After paying such high prices and no one doing Anything about the major issues at Safeway, I have brought my business to Luckys. Not only does this Safeway carry beer, wine, AND liquor,* but their club card gets you shockingly good deals on said booze. $10 off a decent $30 bottle of prosecco? A bottle of Bulleit for $20 (marked down from $32)?! I don't understand, but I will enjoy. We ended up buying enough booze that (1) my credit card company flagged the purchase (too many groceries out of state is an issue, apparently), and (2) we were forced to drink Belgian beer at 7 am prior to our flight back to NYC. Oh, and they also have all the fruit, vegetables, bread, cheese, proteins, condiments, etc. that you need to cook...anything, really. I was pretty angry that they didn't have shallots until I realized that they do have shallots, I'm just bad at finding them. ______________ *Is it only our stupid state that doesn't sell liquor in grocery stores? read more

Stopped here to purchase groceries . A few items we needed were out of stock . Store was clean but staff is rude. The lady at the self check out made us feel uncomfortable. She scolded my daughter in law because she asked her for help on a mistake on the screen . Spoke to her rudely . She kept looking at us like we were stealing throughout our checkout . Other self checkouts were being used but we were only ones being looked at . Made us feel unwelcome . Not sure if it due to us being the only Hispanics at the store. This happened Sunday April 23 about 2:30 pm . Will no longer shop at this Safeway . Hate to say this but she seems racist. read more

Today 4/8/20, coronavirus has 33,077 new case just one day in USA. Governments tell everyone wear face mask and gloves when we go to shop in the grocery stores. But I went Safeway store at Carmel. The produce department few workers are not wearing face mask and gloves to set up all apple, orange, banana, kiwk fruit and other kinds fruits and vegetables. That caught me concern about our safety. The workers were talking to each other all that time I was watching. They spit their mouth water all over the fruit and vegetables. I was upset and asked them why they don't wear face mask and gloves. But they said nothing and keep doing what they do. It is sad!! People so selfish not care for other people live and dead. I hope Safeway management do something about it!!!!! read more

What is going on in your store? Why is it when I come shopping every time there is something new that you are doing to customers? We stay 6ft apart, wear masks, we hear you on the PA reminder over and over. We now have to go one way down an isle and can not put items on the conveyor belt unless the clerk tells us to. I was far away from the customer in front of me with an empty conveyor belt and she still would not allow me to put my items on the belt. The line was forming which became impossible to stay 6ft apart. What do want from us? read more

Stopping by to pick up a hearty sandwich at the deli with the hope that we'll be satisfied with the quality and service like the other Safeway branch. But we're definitely disappointed, the deli staff Cynthia didn't bother to ask us what else we want in the our sandwiches besides the bread, turkey, pesto and avocado that we received. She kept staring at us as she'd never people like us before. I mean she didn't even offer to ring us up or ask if there's anything else we wanted (didn't bother trying to sell anything to us, more for the business). Poor costumer service, unpleasant and didn't even know how to operate the register, I explain what's going ie reason why after I put my card I didn't get a receipt or she didn't know how to operate the register and just ask to use cash or something instead of staring at me. We won't be coming back to the location ever again. read more

SAFEWAY FLORAL DEPT: I was so lucky to have been helped by Loretta in their Floral Dept. I wanted to bring an orchid arrangement to an ailing friend, and Loretta helped me choose the orchids. Today, I walked over to the floral department at Carmel Safeway and was cheerfully greeted by Aurora and asked if I needed help with anything. I have never been acknowledged before while floral shopping, so I felt extremely welcomed. Aurora helped me pick out a couple of small plants and a balloon for a friend's birthday. I can be pretty indecisive, but she helped so much by asking me the right questions and helping me pick the healthiest looking flowers. Her enthusiasm for helping me find the right gift was extremely appreciated.
