Sea Salt Caramels ($13/6piece)
John D.

Skip to My Lula Chocolatier who made their bones in Salt Lake City and came to prominence during the 2002 Winter Olympics. After which they moved their operations to Carmel-by-the-Sea in 2004 and have been a mainstay of the community with two locations in Carmel-by-the-Sea and one in Monterey. Evidently, they're my mom's "favorite" chocolates, so we stopped by to pick her up a box while we were in town. The Good: *Great location at the Carmel Plaza where there's tons of boutique shops and restaurants. *If you love chocolate then this is the place for you *Sea Salt Caramels were pretty good but nothing mind-blowing The Meh: *Lady at the register wasn't unfriendly, per se, but not the type of service one expects at these types of establishments. The Ugly: *Prices are pretty much what you'd expect for the area and cuisine. Read: $$$$ Conclusion: Good chocolates, but nothing that would make me rush back. However, since my mom loves it, I guess we'll be regulars when we're in the area. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hands down, Lula's is some of the best chocolate that I've had lately! Lula's offers so many different types of chocolate and chocolate candy apples that I was in heaven the minute I walked through the door. The sea salt caramels are the best I've ever had. The hand-dipped, small batch caramels were so delicious and are available in many different sized boxes. I'm definitely picking up a few boxes before I go home! The store is beautiful and inviting and the sales staff was very kind and knowledgable. We love the caramels, sea salt caramels, and especially the chocolate witches for Halloween. Every chocolate is beautifully displayed. I'd have to say that Lula's was the highlight of my day today!

Please customers check your receipts! Really hurt my spirit to be scammed by this sales clerk. She acted so friendly, mild mannered, etc. She added 2 different items to our purchase! The 3rd item & the 7th item we did not even look at. The seventh item on our receipt was for a candle! They didn't even have any candles for sale that we saw! So disappointed in her blatant criminal behavior. She had no shame when I called her out on scamming us. She just kept smiling and said I'll credit your account. Her smirk felt like she was implying, "Oh well, got caught this time"

I stopped in on a day trip to Carmel and was captivated by these truffles. The staff was helpful and offered us samples of sea salt caramels and mint truffles. I have tried a lot of truffles, but I was seriously blown away by these. They were rich and creamy, but not cloyingly sweet. We also left with the wine truffle box. The wine truffles were soo delicious. The store also had beautiful cards from a local artist, which I'd been looking for. Everything was a reasonable price point and well worth it. Will definitely be stopping by again next time we're in the area!

Special chocolates only found here

Lula's Chocolates is amazing. And you can find it at many specialty stores as well as most Whole Foods. But if you come to their home factory store, you can find special chocolates not available in stores and hard to find chocolates, too! Well worth the trip if you're in Monterey, CA! FOOD: Again, it's all amazing. My favorites are the dark chocolate turtles, the dark chocolate rocky road, and the dark chocolate peanut brittle (do you see a pattern here?). SERVICE: Incredible. Obviously as the headquarters they have a passion for their product. But more impressive is selling isn't their trade but they are helpful, patient, and more than willing to help. And who could argue with their great selection? COST: Normal for their product. Best deal though is the imperfect chocolates you get at a discount. They may look imperfect, but they don't taste it!

A great chocolate shoppe with so many incredible treats and treasures. A special shout out to Alley for sharing her favorites as we bought several gifts for the kids and family members.

Walk off the beaten path and find you some chocolate. I love the chocolate covered marshmallow options and the sampling of dark chocolate they offer. Can't go wrong with whatever you decide. Decadence awaits...

Wine Truffles - Delicious!

We got the wine truffles and regular truffles from this store while visiting Carmel. We tried the wine truffles, and truly regretted not getting a bigger box! They are delicious. The lady was friendly and welcoming. The store was beautiful and had a wide variety of products to choose from. I would definitely revisit if I'm in the town again.

The salted caramel (4/5): Has actual grains of sea salt in it, which I could eat every now and again.

The staff was incredibly warm and welcoming, and the service throughout the meal was attentive and thoughtful. It made the whole experience feel calm, intimate, and comfortable. A perfect spot for a quiet dinner, a date night, or simply enjoying good food with good company. I don't think they still have the special with half salad and soup, unfortunately, but I got a sandwich with a side of the French onion soup. The soup is seriously amazing with all the cheese melted on top, and it's very flavorful! My sandwich, the chicken en brioche was really good, though it was a little messy to eat since the slices of bread were huge! My mom got the calamari sandwich and said it was great. Very good service and food came out quickly. This is a cute little place, with lots of pictures of France.
