The FUDGE is delicious. I don't get any of the other candies and treats available in the store, not my taste. However, the fudge is always a great attraction for me. It's super soft with a deep chocolate taste, lots of flavors to choose from such as german chocolate cake, cookies and cream etc or classics like milk chocolate and dark chocolate etc. The sign says 1/4 pound minimum for fudge purchases. So I chose 2 flavors and asked for 1/8 pound of each, which would total the minimum requirement of 1/4 pound fudge. However, worker clarified that the sign meant 1/4 pound minimum for EACH flavor. Ended up choosing the Rocky Road chocolate and I was so delighted to eat it! Highly recommend the fudge, can't recommend anything else here really. read more

Candy World is one the most effective tourist traps I've ever seen, a big, barn-red candy store right at the start of Old Fisherman's Wharf. My four-year-old was mad when we walked past it, and only moved on because I promised we could go back if he didn't get a sweet treat at one of the other shops. We walked the whole way down the wharf and my son still wanted Candy World, it's like the storefront imprinted itself on his vulnerable little mind. We were with our two-year-old and four-year-old nephew too, and all three boys were thrilled to go inside--like kids in a candy store, as the saying goes. There were stacks of buckets by the entrance, and we took one almost reflexively, falling deeper into the trap. The store was bursting with candy, just barrels and barrels of taffy and lollipops and every candy you might find in your average drugstore. The prices were astonishing. $4 for a ring pop, $6 for one of those flashlight candies that always show up in party favors. It took some work declining to buy those for my kids. We decided to get some fudge instead, and paid like $12 for small pieces of milk chocolate and dark chocolate sea salt caramel. Service was fast and helpful enough, and the kids devoured that milk chocolate. I tasted it and while it wasn't especially good, it was spectacularly sweet. The sugar was almost gritty on my teeth. The dark chocolate sea salt caramel was slightly better. If my kids had had their way, they would've filled that bucket to the top, and the bill might have climbed well into the hundreds. Here in beautiful Monterey for the first time and we stopped at this candy store that literally called us in. Lol! So many choices to choose from. It is delectable candy heaven. My grandchildren would have a field day in here. So colorful, bright, and so much candy galore . They even had candy apples and fudge. So delightful and everything for your sweet tooth you can imagine. My husband loves spicy mango candy and that's what he selected. It was kind of pricey but everything is high nowadays. This was the worst experience we have ever had! Candy bins all open & disgusting. Employees rude and prices are ridiculously high.

They have a huge selection and variety of candy and salt water taffy. It's really awesome just walking around to see everything. The store itself is a little cramped, so it might be difficult for someone in a wheelchair or other devices. Everything looked pretty good and clean until we were waiting in line to check out. Their fudge is just sitting out in the open without any covering, so flies were flying around and sitting on the fudge...yeah, not sanitary at all. Very concerning. Everything else was wrapped up or in a case case, so that seemed fine, but maybe avoid the fudge. They do have a $5 minimum if you want to use your card. I grew up in Monterey and have fond memories of visiting the wharf and stopping by Candy World. Unfortunately, this time the candy was disappointing--stale and overall unappetizing. My grandma got a caramel apple, and she said the apple was way too sour. On a positive note, the staff were super sweet and helpful, which I appreciated. But if you're heading to the wharf, I recommend skipping this candy store and walking a bit further to the other candy shop--you'll thank me later! read more

Sad to say but Such a disappointment... I am a huge fan of chocolate covered gummy bears, and I seek them out pretty much anywhere I can find them... I understand they're usually handmade and expect to pay extra for them.... however the chocolate was very thin, almost see-through on both the white chocolate gummy bears and also the milk chocolate, gummy bears... Seem like the gummy bears were also actually only one flavor, yellow or white...?? Also ordered a couple of small caramel chocolate turtles... And the price at the counter was basically $45 a pound for Every with Chocolate I'm from Las Vegas. I have traveled all over the country/world and have been to multiple candy store similar to this and have never paid this much. This is literally double or triple the normal. You can find for less online but for some reason it tastes better to me when I buy it in a store. One of my favorite places to visit is this wonderful store located on Fishermans Wharf. Everything about this store is special starting with the colorful outside of the store. I love the train on the outside of the building. It just looks happy and colorful and draws you inside. Who can resist M&M people outside the store. Inside is every kind of candy you would want. There is retro candy and packaged candies and all kinds of wonderful fudge in all kinds of flavors. You can smell the fudge wafting through the store. This store is a feast for the eyes. Take your children there. My son got one of those big lollipops and malted milk balls which he loved. I hope you enjoy this business as much as I do. read more

Wow, is this store a throw back! They have all the old classic candies: buttons, bubble gum cigarettes, abba zabba, Rocky roads, and more! It really is a kids dream come true! They have these buckets at the door you fill with your items. The kids really enjoyed that. Also, if you like taffy there is a large assortment here. My only complaint would be the pricing of the candy. Many items 3.99 and up. I bought about $40 of candy and it was not much, the cashier told me the pricing was like that due to some of the candies being difficult to find. A friend of mine said the candy shop in SF fisherman's wharf was cheaper. If I returned to the area I would likely try the other candy shop near by. This is a huge candy shop we came to on Labor Day weekend that's on the Fishermans Wharf in Monterey. My daughter loves candy, what kid doesn't? They have an ice cream setup, with or without cones, slurpee machine, fresh chocolates with all kinds of stuff, Carmel apples, you name it they got it. Last Saturday during our trip to Monterey (running from bad smoke in San Francisco) we went to wharf, and my kid saw "new candy store" with beautiful sign with train and bears. Wonderful. We came in. My kiddo wanted only one candy, kind of lollipop, so we grabbed it. Then it was really unpleasant situation, when employee (chewing her lunch) said something about "minimum limit purchasing". What?.. oh ok, one lollipop isn't enough, I grabbed some small boxes of Nutella sticks. But employee said again: "No they are not qualifies for minimal weight, they have separate price"... While walking with my family, my son wanted to go inside for some candy. The candy in the display counters got my attention so I walked up to choose something for myself. As I got close I realized there were flies on most of the items. I let the cashier know and she seemed to get bothered by it. She rudely asked me where the flies were and then removed the candy from the displays and set it on the counter behind her. I bought my son a few wrapped treats and that was all. As we stepped outside I turned back and saw the lady simply put the "fly" items back inside the display booths. Just plain NASTY! read more

It's a total tourist trap. Waaaay overpriced candy. They have lots of items - from pick your Jelly Belly combos, to saltwater taffy, to brownies and other "in-house" items. Specifically asked for sugar free treats and was shown their apparent selection of "sugar free" candies which I later discovered were not in-fact sugar free. When I called to speak with a manager I was given someone's home number and the man that answered the call could not have been more rude. This could be a very dangerous error and they could have cared less that I was trying to save someone from having a very bad experience. I would patronize any of the other treat shops rather than give this shop my business again. read more

Arrived too early for our Montrio restaurant (most excellent) reservation up the block. So, we took a stroll that brought us to Candy World. I was enticed by "fudge" listed on the window. So, I bought some dark chocolate with walnuts and a German chocolate version of fudge. The price was astronomical. Although the fudge looked like fudge, it had only a faint chocolate taste. I'll start off by saying this place has a huge selection of candy! However, I came in with my daughters last weekend. The place wasn't super busy when we went in. My girls were looking around, and decided they wanted ice cream. So I went to order ice cream from the girl behind the counter. I asked for a scoop of ice cream just on a basic cone. She VERY rudely informed me, "there's more than one type of basic cone, cake or waffle, what do you want?".
