Offerings at this shop include a nice range of candies, chocolates, ice cream, and miscellaneous gifts. We got several dark chocolate treats this past Wednesday (dark chocolate almond turtle, dark chocolate pecan bar, dark chocolate covered oreo), some pop rocks, as well as bottled water. The quality and service was more than sufficient in meeting our needs during our recent visit. But it's a touristy spot, so expect touristy prices. read more

Such a fun place to stop by- even if it means simply browsing. CandyLand is located on Cannery Row, in the heart of Monterey, offering an abundance of sweets. Everywhere you turn, the store is filled to the brim with mounds and mounds of candy. This little shop is on Cannery Row and is pretty packed. While the vibe is cute the store is small and cramped. There is bulk candy and taffy as well as fudge and hand dipped chocolates. Nothing is made there but it looks good. Unfortunately even though you know that rent can't be cheap, the candy is ridiculously overpriced. Even for a shop in a tourist trap. It's a clean candy store. Customer service was not helpful at all. I waited about 10 minutes to get helped in getting a few chocolates and some ice cream. There was no line, I was the only one in line. Not sure what employees were doing, for sure not paying attention to customers. My son grabbed some airheads and those were super expensive for a small bag. It is on cannery row and in a touristy spot so I'm sure that's why the prices are a bit higher. It's eye candy. I mean that literally. It's a cool candy store that specializes in salt water taffy...every flavor you can think of in these huge barrels. Remember, this store is located at the wharf so it's a tourist trap. The taffy is really yummy but you will pay a hefty price for it. They charge by weight. You can mix and match flavors but it isn't cheap. They sell other types of sweets too but their salt water taffy is what I gravitate towards. Ambiance: every little kid's dream. read more

Stopped in CandyLand last weekend while we were in the area visiting family, and had the yummiest treats. While every that we got was delicious (1 piece of s'mores fudge, 1 chocolate covered pretzel, and 1 peanut butter cup, it was super expensive. I mean we spent almost $20!!! Yes our treats were really good, but $20 good...I am not sure. The assortment of candy is ridiculous though. There is so much to choose from. They have everything from gummy candy, to salt water taffy, to handmade chocolates, and everything in between. Also, the customer service is meh. The young lady working only spoke to us when we went to pay, and it seemed as though we were bothering her. I won't make a special trip to CandyLand, but if I am at the Plaza again, I will probably pop in for some treats. read more

Fun stop for a few minutes! Just a whiff of the sweet treats would've probably brought my sugar levels on the diabetic side and my doctor would've frowned upon me LoL! but it was fun looking at the displays from wall to wall of all the candy and chocolates you can ever imagine. From assorted ZOTZ candies to Bazooka gums they have it all here. Huge array of salt water taffies lined in barrels and behind the window display case are slabs (more like small logs) of different types of flavor chocolates. They also sell ice-cream here. We stopped by to get some chocolate with peanuts to bring home (special request from daughter). For my friends in Sacramento this place is similar to Candy Heaven on Front Street in Old Sac. Purchased a couple of milk chocolate peanut clusters and off we went. Good service assisted by a friendly employee. I like visiting this store when I'm in Monterey because I know I can find Bit O'Honey candy pieces here as well as the peanut butter crunch pieces. It's more expensive to buy candy here by the pound. A few pieces cost $6 easily. Staff here are pretty friendly which is what I've always found in the past. read more

Prices are a bit steep, but I think it's expected due to it's touristy location. Lastly, although I didn't interact with any staff members, I did overhear a conversation she was having with another customer, and all I can say is that it wasn't very pleasant. Overall, a fun and colorful candy shop to check out if you are in the area. The woman managing this store is a witch. I walked in and heard her talking bs to her young employees complaint about someone getting married. It was a nice photo of because it's bright and lots of old school candy options. Overpriced but it's California Coast so I'm used to it. My daughter wanted a candy necklace and when it broke in the doorway as I put it on her neck, the manager frowned at me. I asked her employee if we could replace it from the bin of 100+ she got it from and the manager said "tell her no" in front of me. THEN instructed him to get a broom. I shopped here with my boyfriend on March 23, 2024 we decided to stop by. Only to be yelled at by the EXTREMELY rude, bitter, older lady working the cashier. Terrible experience I do not recommend. It's a very bad look because all of the other shops at cannery row everyone is extremely sweet welcoming and kind. I was extremely disappointed. If you do decide to walk in there good luck to you! She will yell at you for not being on the right side of the line? There is no sense of direction or signs indicating the "RULES" and the cashier also made rude inappropriate remarks as my boyfriend was paying very unnecessary. The fudge was very low quality it tasted cheap like dirt chocolate or something. I recommend Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory instead which is across the street. read more

Came here to get salt water taffy. If you are bringing a stroller (double) you will have a hard time to maneuver and it would be best to leave it outside. This place is located near bubba gumps and inside this small building. They have a good amount of salt water taffy with different flavors. They have gummy and jelly beans to pick from to other various hard/soft candy the kids can pick from. They have an icee machine, serve ice cream and have other various of snacks behind the counter. My gripe is seeing tourist using their fingers in pulling out the candy from the bins when there are thongs/scoops to pick from. After seeing a tourist put his hand in to grab the gummy sharks I was a little disgusted and just decided that we would only get wrapped candy here. Over all, it's a nice place to keep the kids entertained but there are other various shops that have stuffed animals and more modern candy to get. read more

They have every flavor of jelly belly, so you can be as selective as you want. I'm not so much as picky, since I like most flavors - but I like to know which ones I'm eating. Like a jelly belly flavor contest that is easy to win. There are more flavors of taffy than you can imagine. My guy loves taffy, so we went with his flavors. I was busy stuffing another bag with jolly ranchers, zotts and gummy bears. They have the weirdest novelty drinks like bacon and buffalo wing flavors. Wacky and weird, yet I would probably try it. Bins of candy and crap will cost you something but keeping high school students occupied is priceless (ask any teacher). Tons of bins with candy, salt water taffy and rice krispy treats. Those rice krispy treats looked amazing with various drizzles and chocolate. The heaping mounds of fudge would bring any chocolate fan to their knees. They have Dryer's Ice Cream (meh) but our students were going zonkers in the store. This is the only place that has all the jelly belly flavors that I love--Snapple, Chocolate Pudding, and Snapple. They also have my childhood favorite--Sour Nerds! However, I decided not to purchase a box (they are very difficult to find!) because the color on the boxes looked faded. Plus, the Sour Nerds were marked for $2.99! I was treated very rudely by the cashier who made chastising remarks to me after I asked if I could get half the candy in from my 3 year olds bucket (her uncle had taken her around the store) until I payed for my kids' candy and left. Then along the walls, there are jelly belly dispensers, M and M dispensers, chocolate covered gummis, chocolate covered raisins, cotton candy licorice,......... Like other candy shop along SF Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39, you grab a basket, fill it with goodies, weigh it, pay it. Some novelty items are individually priced. They also have fudge, icees, sodas, and Dreyer's ice cream. Next to Claire's 10 items for $5 sale, my daughters spent a long time in this store. First off let me say that I know CandyLand is located in a high traffic tourist destination. I am very well aware of why the prices at many boutiques/restaurants cost a tad more than in other areas of Monterey. However, there's no justification in the outrageously high price on their candy. I've bought candy at Fisherman's Wharf in SF for less and, frankly, it is a MUCH nicer tourist spot than Cannery Row. I also know the candy store located in Seaport Village in SD has lower prices as well. CandyLand is a total rip off. I was appalled when my total came up at $16 for the limited amount of candy I picked up. (see pic) The only reason they got 2 stars instead of 1 is because of their vast assortment of goodies from salt water taffy to fudge to nostalgic finds you can't get anywhere else. read more
