DO NOT AND I MEAN DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! The owner was super rude and we didn't even go in and didn't even try to go in so that should tell you a lot. She told us to move away from the front of the store when we were just taking a rest from walking on the SIDEWALK....yes the SIDEWALK LOL not even in front of her store. So we said we are not actually and she continued to say "if your waiting for someone in the other store go wait over there" keep in mind no one was in her store and I been reading so many reviews of this shop and her and seems like this isn't the first time she has been rude to people honestly this lady should not even have a shop read more

Sweetock - Her shop and also she's was also racist so smh - Candy Stores Near Me - Monterey, California

Overpriced is an understatement! Ask for the price first! One medium size chocolate chip cookie and one Sees' candy sized chocolate was $17. To be shown the tip screen on the cash register on top of the other price was the cherry on the top of a bad purchase!!! read more

Lady that works there is rude. I was looking at items from outside and was told to leave because I was not inside shopping. Told me I was in the way of customers entering when I wasn't even blocking the entrance. read more

The owner charged me $11.99/ea for a popsicle from a freezer. The store prey on visitors, never go to the store.

TOURIST TRAP!! Unbelievably terrible experience. No prices listed on any items, I went to checkout with two small chocolate truffles (that are bought on Amazon and aren't even made in store) and was charged $21. I wasn't told the price until after I handed my card to the woman. Immediately canceled the purchase. read more

Shameful business practice -- took advantage of a child We visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium for a family day trip, and while heading back to the parking garage, we came across Sweetok. While my wife and I were attending to our 3-year-old, our 10-year-old daughter wandered into Sweetok, excited to see what she believed were "real Labubu" dolls for sale. The owner guaranteed the doll was authentic and charged her $62 (there was no price upfront and my daughter was not expecting it to be $62.00 at the register)-- money she had saved up on her own. Minutes later, as we were driving away, our daughter burst into tears, realizing she had been scammed. It's heartbreaking to watch your child learn such a harsh lesson: that an adult business owner would knowingly deceive a young child for profit. I'm a business owner myself, and I was shocked at this level of dishonesty -- especially toward a child. I couldn't even return the fake doll because our toddler was having a full-blown meltdown, and we had to leave. Later, I checked the reviews and wasn't surprised to see others sharing similar experiences. My advice to the owner: Do better. Change your business practices and stop preying on the kindness and trust of children. This was a truly disappointing and unacceptable experience. read more

Beware!!! Make sure to ask for prices before ordering/ purchasing. Walked out with 7 macaroons for $80+. And they're not even that good, tasted processed. Also, not that I mind being kind to wildlife, she lets pigeons and crows come into her shop and feeds them. read more

Horrible experience. Do NOT buy the labubus they are FAKE. I went in to purchase a labubu and the owner said they were real. As I was checking out, she said that she knew what color labubu she was selling me because she opens them beforehand which is a HUGE RED FLAG. Then when my boyfriend and I got to the car to open the box, we saw that the box had been reglued together, and the packaging of the labubu was cut open and inside was a fake one. I was charged $73 for a fake. This establishment is a scam, do not buy anything from here. read more

DO NOT BUY THE LABUBUS HERE. THEY ARE LAFUFUS. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING HERE PLZ. Save yourself the trouble and money! It is so overpriced and there are no prices listed at all. So bummed and felt swindled. :/ AGAIN, THE LABUBUS SOLD THERE ARE LAFUFUS. DO NOT BUY THE LAFUFUS. Do not spend any money on these. The store next door has lafufus for $14! Also the outfits were so expensive! I've been to a labubu pop up and the clothing sets usually run around $10-15 depending on the set. But the owner has the audacity to charge $38-41 per set! I didn't realize it until she swiped my card. :( For any parents wanting to buy labubus for their kid, please go elsewhere and do not support this business. The macaroons and everything else was also so expensive too. I would avoid this tourist trap like the plague! read more

Stopped by after a day at the aquarium. Wanted some macarons so decided to grab a few. We noticed the smell upon entering but ok, no problem. We went over and asked for 2 macarons, then was pressured to get a few more. The container has room for 7. I instantly noticed that there was a pack of the macarons from Costco.. hmmm odd. We chose 7 flavors, and picked up a bag of SpongeBob Krabby patty candy. The total, $67. My fiance didn't think much of it but questioned the cost, we walked towards our car and he told me the total and I said what?? Almost $8-$10 per item? So he went back to ask the price (should've done that first) Lady said $6.95 for the large macarons, and the small are half that price. Ok.... 7 macarons and a small bag of candy. $67? Do the math (4 large macarons $27.80 + 3 small macarons $11.85 + the small bag of candy. I am assuming can't be more than $10 looking at these reviews, so our total for macarons should have been $39.65 so you're telling me the bag of candies cost 27?! I tried calling to request a breakdown of prices but the merchant didn't answer. I filed a dispute with my bank because the macarons were stale, they also had flies flying inside the case, and everything just looked odd. Didn't taste right or felt right. Please avoid this place or ask for the cost of things before purchasing. read more

I am still in disbelief over my experience at this business and cannot believe anyone is allowed to even run operations this way. Reviews are right- no prices displayed on goods, lady encourages you to buy more then takes your card, swipes it before you can even look at the price you're charged. You will feel robbed! I was parked in front of her store and needed a cookie for my LO for the long ride home. I got a sugar cookie and was charged $14.98 for it. I initially thought it was a mistake but when I asked she said "it's home made." My husband even went back in to ask if that WAS the price. It's just not possible! Ridiculous! Lady, there was no golden nugget in this cookie! No special flavor to justify this price! My LO wouldn't even eat it. I don't like wishing ill on small businesses but I hope we don't see this one on our next trip to Monterey. Wouldn't want more people to fall victim to this scam! Bought 2 cookies... 2 COOKIES that were not even good for my partner because she is diabetic and her sugar was low and this was the closest place. This is the only reason I even walked into this shop. And was charged $15.96. She took my card out of my hand and didn't even tell me the price before swiping it. I didn't see how much I was charged until she turned the screen toward me at the very end. This woman is scamming people and has horrible customer service skills. She was trying to pressure me in to buying things the second I entered before even greeting me. She seriously needs to be investigated by a business association. read more

Be aware, stay away if you want to ensure you're not buying over priced items. Wow, these stories are so true. This is a tourist trap. No pricing displayed, she doesn't tell you the price when she rings up the items, so you don't know what you are paying. I had to ask how much the total was, she then turn around the register and I was taken back by the price. Fridge not working. No cold drinks. Desserts can be found at Costco. Dark inside. If you do stumble into this place, make sure you check the prices of what you want to buy before purchasing. The other reviews are correct, the prices are outrageous. read more

Buyer beware! All the comments are true! We fell victim to the stores scams! They had an ice cream case offering basic cheap ice cream sandwiches for $11.00 each! In a grocery store I could buy several boxes for $11.00! I can confirm there were no prices posted! read more

Okay, I get it. They prey on tourists. My daughter had to have a cookie. We stopped in, she picked out 4 cookies. My daughter grabs a tiny toy. $50. In most places that would be $25-$30 max. Should've listened to my husband when he whispered to me, "The macarons are from Costco!" The tray even looks like Costco! These were small and were cold! Then I purchased 3 bigger ones. I asked if she makes them daily. She said yes. I tried them after I had left the shop, and I swear these macarons have to be at least 2-3 days old! The macarons were crumbly and dry! 4 gross macarons for $30! I know macarons are expensive and I'll gladly pay for them, but not for stale macarons placed in saran wrap!! Wish I read the reviews beforehand! So I took an L on this one. read more

Popped in real quick as I wanted two French macarons that had caught my eye while walking by. I figured they were $2-3 a piece (maybe $4) but boy was a WRONG! I ended up with 7 and a total cost of $53! I was so shocked I couldn't even say no and just walk away. My fault. However, the person working kept trying to get me to select more but never stated they only sell them in boxes of 7 until I finally asked. I was in such a hurry I was like "Sure, sure." She also wouldn't toss them in a bag even though I said I was going to eat them ASAP and that I was in a hurry. Worst disappointment of all, was that all of them were overly dry and stale. I absolutely love French macarons but these were beyond awful. My husband agreed. This has been, hands down, my worst financial decision in the past several years. Don't follow my lead! Find your macarons elsewhere! UPDATE: after trying to reach out to the business without any success to request a refund, I filed a complaint with my credit card company because although the goods were received, they were severely less than acceptable. The business never responded to inquiries from my credit card company and I was given a FULL REFUND. If you paid with a credit card and not a debit card, you can also file a complaint and might get a refund as well. I suggest everyone being scammed by this business do the same so the business owner finally gets her just deserts...pun intended! read more

Total Scam. 2 macaroons and a bottled water 23$ and the macaroons were old and gross. This lady is scamming people and don't care. The store is hot, expired items and very dirty. If I could give ZERO stars I would! This woman with the horrible looking wig hair and glasses was such a CON! My parents and I went into this store to get my 2 year old sister a lollipop while we walked around Monterey. She didn't have any prices posted. My mom purchased 2 blow pop suckers and 2 small gummies. She charged my mom $15.00 for something that cost less than $3.00. My mom was shocked at the price and told her "Hey that's a lot of money for 4 small items. How much are these lollipops?" She said $5 each with absolutely no remorse! She refused to give my mom a refund since she paid with cash. My mom told her she should be ashamed of herself for prying on people with little kids who want a sweet treat. To make matters worst the lollipops were old and stuck to the wrapper! This lady is a complete SCAM! BEWARE OF THIS CON ARTIST! She should be ASHAMED of herself! read more

X X X X X BUYERS BEWARE X X X X X A TRUE SNAKE/WITCH owns this vicinity !!! She lurks on people who happen to stumble in her store without reading all the terrible reviews written about this place. My family and I came in for ice cream and after telling her I'll have two Häagen-Dazs (the small milk chocolate almond one with vanilla ice cream bars that you can buy in box at Costco for 15 for $15). My daughter had already taken one but I thought I'd get mines from the freezer after I pay for it. I came up to the register and saw $11.99, which I thought was the price for the two I said I was going to get. My mother in law wanted a chocolate caramel (a one inch individual one) so she tried to sell me more by asking if I wanted one and told me there's dark chocolate and milk chocolate. Stupidly, I thought they're small chocolates, they can't cost that much, and said I'll take both. I accidentally left my credit card on the counter and walked back to the freezer to get the ice cream and she yells "oh, you wanted two?" That's what I told her in the beginning so I said yes as I was reaching for the ice cream and turned around and asked "wait is 11.99 for one ice cream?" And she said oh yeah... so I said "oh then that's fine I don't need one." And she told me my credit card was already swiped. She had the audacity to just take my card and swipe it on her own!!! The price for the two ice creams and small three chocolates??? $45.76!!! What can be worse?? I open the ice cream bag and it was melted... $@&;/!! When I got home, I saw on a bank account notification that I was charged twice from her store (once for $33 and the other for $45). When I opened my bank account to look into it, the $33 was reversed so she knew all along she could've cancelled the transaction when she just so happened to take it upon herself to charge me for two ice creams. Honestly, I feel sick to my stomach writing this review and I've never felt this way walking out any store/restaurant. Bad juju y'all ... I hope she gets all the bad karma she deserves. read more

The owner of this store commits literal fraud, in fact I would potentially call it purposeful theft on her part. My experience is that I come into the store with my kids, ask about the gelato (posted outside). She says they only have the frozen ice cream in the mobile freezer. It's Costco ice cream bars (like the ones at gas stations). We get a few. Everyone's talking. Hand thee owner the credit card. It's swiped immediately. No receipt. I notice that the price looks completely out of whack. To the toon of $12+ a piece (4 ice cream bars for $50+). I ask "that's not for us right?". She says , "oh yes, $11 each plus tax". I ask for a refund. She says no. I ask for receipt, she says transaction closed, can't get receipt now. This is beyond bad pricing strategy. This is an owner who knows what she's doing, preys on tourists, and literally steals their money. I'm not upset about losing $50. I am instead upset that there are people out there who prey on working class people like this, and do so with a smile on their face. Never go here, and BBB - look into this woman owner. I'm all but certain there is highly likely some fraud and tax evasion, something illegal going on. read more

I've never had a macaron in my life. Walked in to this store and bought 4 macarons and one coconut macaroon and about fell over when the five small cookies rang up to $38. I am not even kidding you. I didn't try anything else they had for sale there but after talking to MANY friends who buy macarons all the time, I got totally ripped off. I read here on Yelp they are $7 each.... if so, then the one macaroon cookie had to be $10. TOTAL RIP OFF. Grab yer ankles. read more

***Please read before going.*** Be aware that there are no prices for any of the macaroons in the store. My wife and I went in and ordered 2 truffles, and 10 macaroons. Our total came out to $100... $100!!! I literally left wondering what they heck we ordered.. Now, we're not saying they're not tasty. Although I will say they are nowhere near worth the ~$7 per macaroon. The lady at the front was nice, although she seemed to try and pressure us into buying more and more flavors. Which makes sense- because they expensive as hell. I wish we had read further reviews and asked ahead of time how much they cost. Paid over $45 for 4 regular and 2 mini macarons! No prices posted but I assumed they'd be about $3-4 each like many other macaron places. Total shock when I got rang up. Was incredibly disappointed that I got no form of packaging other than a cut up plastic tray and some saran wrap, especially for how much they were. Asked the woman helping us if they were made fresh in house and she said yes but, as a food service worker myself, I'm pretty sure these are just Harry & David or Sweet Street aka mass produced and shipped frozen...in those same plastic trays! read more
