Very solid old school Chicago thin crust pizza. I'd have again. Not greasy, crust had a nice crunch.

This place has a wide selection of food and it's all great! The employees and owner are soo nice and are always checking in at your table. I love the inviting atmosphere. The pizzas are delicious!! read more

My food has never disappointed me. I usually just do a take out order but when I've dined in with friends, it's got a nice regular type feel. Staff have always been nice & quick to help. My only beef if there is one would be- I'm a dessert person. I wish there were maybe one or two more choices. read more

We love Candelite! My kids request ordering from there all the time. Their, pizza (very thin crust which we love), burgers, fries and onion rings are all fabulous. We have also had the quesadillas, cheese curds, wraps and chopped salad. The food is always amazing and their service is great. They consistently send me coupons even though their prices are right. Do them a favor - order directly from their website versus using one of food deliver services - it is better for the restaurant. I recommend checking it out soon! read more

Great food and atmosphere! Kudos to the owner for hiring a resident from Misericordia Home! Molly was a delightful hostess! The owner was there and made sure we were well taken care of. Food was great and you can't beat half priced wine on Mondays! read more

LOVE this place! Great food and great staff. My daughter LOVES this place and they are always so nice to her - including giving her free quarters to play their games. It is such a gem. read more

We ordered a couple pizzas and a beverage. The pizzas were very good as they usually are. Great thin crust! However, the beverage, soda, on the menu was priced at $2.75. I assumed that was for a 2 liter. Or the very worse a 1 liter. When the delivery came, it was for a can! That is the biggest ripoff I have seen in such a long time. That is absolutely ridiculous. I emailed the owner of Candlelight and told him they really need to say on the website the sizes of the soda. If that had been mentioned and I was aware of that, I of course would not have ordered it. I would have given them a 5 star review but that is truly unreal how someone could charge that for a can of pop.. read more

The food here never disappoints. The pizza always good. Cheeseburger was huge and tater tots the best. Friendly staff and atmosphere. A neighborhood staple for years! read more

Pete, Pat and the rest of the Candlelite team make the best thin crust pizza in town, full stop. I was fortunate to have grown up eating pizza at the original Lou Malnati's in Lincolnwood and Vito & Nick's on Pulaski when visiting my grandma. I'd like to think that I have a refined palate for pizza and I put Candlelite in the same class of Chicago pizza as those two establishments. I've been ordering their frozen pizzas off of Goldbelly and now directly from the Candlelite website, which has been a lifesaver during COVID. While the frozen pies are delicious, nothing beats a pizza and beer at the candlelite on Western. It's a damn shame Yelp tops out at 5 stars because Candlelite deserves more. read more

After spending a long week in the Evanston hospital staying with a family member, my supervisor surprised us one night with two cracker crust thin pizzas--a veggie and margherita pizza--delivered right to the hospital via Uber. Wow, do I wish I lived near Candlelight, because I would be a regular for sure. Aside from the delicious pizza, their online menu looks incredible. My family is really tough to order for. Kids can be picky, and we have a bunch of food sensitivities and allergies we are always dealing with. But, we were 100% safe and satisfied with this particular order. Nothing but quality ingredients on our pizza. Like Calin D mentions in his review, the veggie pizza had an overload of veggies, "more veggies than sauce and cheese," and that was perfect for me. I've never had artichokes on a pizza, so that was a huge win. Veggie pizza toppings included: Fresh mushrooms, spinach, red and green peppers, onions, and artichoke hearts. All of my favorite veggie ingredients. Of course with a cracker crust pizza we needed to gobble it up quickly, because I knew keeping it for the next day would be a tough call. So, we ate as much as we could, but I'm not gonna' lie, I may have picked on it the next day too. Yes, it was a little soggy...but so tasty! The margherita pizza is a favorite classic of mine, and it did not disappoint. You can never go wrong with a margherita, and it was so good my picky eater son suddenly now likes tomatoes! What?!!! Overall...two delicious pizzas. For the ultimate appreciation, I suggest eating everything the same night or getting yourself into Candlelight to enjoy it right out of the oven. read more

Not quite sure how they earned all these 4 and 5 star reviews but my experience was disappointing. Ordered the bleu cheeseburger.... The bun was dry and stale. The bleu cheese was skimpy, almost insignificant. The meat seemed to be cookie cutter pre-made variety. I've had way better burgers that were juicer and flavorful at many other establishments. The fries were good. The price was at almost $17 with ice tea for the mediocre burger I had, in my opinion, expensive for what it was. I would not recommend this place for dining. read more

Best thin crust pizza!!! This place is a classic and a must try if you haven't been here yet. We celebrated a birthday and the staff and owner were so accommodating and attentive. The food was amazing and the birthday girl had a great time!! We will always love the Candlelite! read more

Food decent. Service atrocious. Never have we had such attitude from a server for no apparent reason. Not only was she extremely rude but the bill had several items on it we did not order. Management could care less. read more

After this crazy year, I simply wanted to sleep until 2021 or the pandemic was over. Well, my son and his girlfriend refused to let my birthday/Christmas suck as much as this past year. They found Candlelite was open. Boy was I surprised to hear I would have pizza for my birthday - on a day that everything was closed! I was happier when I tasted the design your own pizza! It was LOOKED GOOD and was DELICIOUS! PLUS, I got a birthday wish in lights from Candlelite. Candlelite YOU ROCK! read more

We usually order delivery or pickup from candlelite. Very good ultra thin crust pizza with a great variety of other delicious options. Delivery is very fast, but preheat your oven for the pizza. It always needs a few minutes to warm back up since it is thin. No loss in flavor vs eating it at the restaurant. Highly recommend. read more

Have wanted to try this place forever.. finally stopped by late on a Sunday Night! First off, they have an amazing beer list; expect Gumballhead and such on draft. The folks I was with ordered apps and such and said they were good but I specifically came for the thin crust za! Well, we ended up with a thin crust & a pan pizza and both were outstanding..for me the thin crust edged out the pan and is some of Chicago's Best for sure. Good service from the bartender who didn't write down a bit of our huge order, all from memory! Can't say much for the "Clientele" as we were there late and very few degenerates were in there. Top thin crust in Chi-City! Get Dat Did PS- That picture does the pizza no justice/ bad shot! read more

Do you want to see your name (or perhaps that of a friend) in lights? Candlelite will accommodate that desire if you are planning an event there. Maybe that sign will even make it into their archive of past commemorations? We were invitees to a friend's birthday party and the first thing we spotted from a block away was that special sign. Once inside, the room was festive, but with plenty of space so you don't feel like a sardine. The bar has a full array of brews on tap, including a good selection of IPAs of the season. Our friend's party was sharing the restaurant with perhaps other groups and couples having the night out. All were coexisting without any problems in space or service. While a few attendees were ensconced around the bar, Candlelite had set up several tables in one corner just for the party. One had several platters of crudités, shrimp tacos, and other bar snacks. Pretty tasty stuff! Some people were noshing on some of the medium size pizzas the restaurant is known for. That's what I'd come back for. read more

Another occasion to visit the Candlelite: casual semi-private parties. I have attended two annual gatherings here and both times the food and service have been outstanding. On both occasions, our group had a dedicated server who was lightning-quick and full of smiles, and possessed an uncanny ability to locate a guest in the crowd who had shifted positions since placing his or her drink order. The grub is always good, but this year they really shone: delicious chicken & vegetable quesadillas, barbecue and buffalo chicken wings, and of course the thin-crust pizza. This year they trotted out cheeseburger sliders and brisket sliders--home runs with most of our crowd. It was a hell of a feast. So if you're thinking of ordering any of those items off the menu, do it! If you're thinking of planning a private party at the Candlelite, definitely do it! read more

Love this place! Happened buy it one night when we were hungry and it was a delightful surprise. Fantastic, very extensive menu with the best sweet potato fries, so yummy. We always go for the pub burger because it is delicious. Great salads as well. One of the best things about it is the genuinely warm service from the fun and responsive staff. If you are not there to watch a game, I would suggest going during off hours because this is a sports oriented bar and is extremely noisy when there is a game on. read more

Just ordered delivery for the first time off GrubHub and had an offer for $12 off that did not go through. So not happy about that but the delivery did come 20 min before expected, so kudos for that. I didnt realize that the pizzas were all thin crust so I was quite disappointed when I opened both of my pizzas and they were not what I expected. None of the discriptions talk about the type of crust nor does it give you an option for such when ordering. Most of the pictures zoom into the middle of the pizza so you really cant tell what to expect. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality of the ingredients. Everything was delicious despite not having a crisp and chewy crust like I really wanted. read more

Meh. Very nice people and great ownership, cool interior with lot of tvs. Pizza was sub par. I'm a cheese lover and even I thought this pizza had wayyyyyy too much cheese on it. Like maybe 50-75% more cheese than would be required for a well balanced pie. The interior pieces become very soggy with how thin the crust is. Besides that, the flavor just wasn't doing it for me. But hey, they've been around forever and have a loyal following so your experience may vary! My suggestion: order with extra sauce, light on the cheese and ask for it to be well done. That will probably equal a good balance read more

Hubby and I came here after sampling a couple of cocktails at Ward Eight. It's close, and a great place to chow down after imbibing. It also looks like a fun place to go on it's own and have a beer and pizza at the bar! Hubby and I split the onion rings. Mmmmm-mmmm. They have big thick rings of onion with a nice think crisp batter. They serve a good spicy aioli sauce. We asked for mustard and ketchup to add to the mix. So-oooo good. Hubby ordered a sausage pizza and I had the Popeye pizza (spinach and pesto; not tomato sauce). Last time we were here, I got the garlic white pizza... a bit too garlicky for me. And I love garlic! The Popeye was great. I would get it again. We were there on a Saturday in August. It wasn't crowded at all. The last time we went on a Saturday in February and it was packed. Maybe folks were taking in the nice weather and not spending time inside. Fine with me... read more

This place is still another fav - especially with Tuesday's special - buy one pizza, Wednesday's 2 for 1 burgers or get one free or Thursday - 25 cent wings. They always have great draft beers and delicious food. The last time we came, we all devoured those delicious garlic herb fries with feta, ordered a meat lovers thin crust pizza, tried the mac n cheese (not so much a fan), chicken strips for the little guy (which he really liked - not too crispy but soft on the inside) which was served with tater tots and tried their wings, as well. Overall, our server was great and the food was delicious. Just realized that they no longer are on restaurant.com but their deals are still worth coming back for! read more

I had a really nice time here. Took my two nephews and one of their girlfriends here for two for one pizza on a Tuesday night. Our server couldn't have been better - it was really busy, yet she got everything out and checked in too. My best friend joined us after we had finished one pair of pizzas. So we ordered another pair. Thin crust goes down fast and easy - it was good too, especially the Italian Beef pizza - loads of flavor. The ambiance is awesome, plenty of places to watch TV. I really look forward to going back - love places where I leave as happy as I am full. read more

I would give a Million stars if I could. I had to come out my Yelp hiatus just to write this review. I ordered through grubhub and I basically had a few notes for my order, they went above and beyond, like, I can't put into words how appreciated that kind gesture was, like, honestly. Thank you so much Candlelite and beyond thank you Jess! If only you knew what that very gesture did for me. That was the sweetest thing! Genuinely, if only you knew. THANK YOU! My food was amazing. It was JUST what I needed. Plenty to share. Again, a thousand times thank you! read more

We really liked this place before we ordered take out a few nights ago. We ordered three burgers, two were veggie burgers that are usually really, really good. However this time they were spoiled. They smelled really bad, the lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado was very old soggy and brown. I called and spoke with the manager Charles who told me that they would credit my account but it has not happended. Who ever works in the kitchen and thought it was ok to serve rotten food to customers, should not be in food service at all! They had to have smelled that it was spoiled when they were making it. I wish I would have taken a picture. Just gross! read more

Don't, just DON'T!!! I ordered 3 pies from goldbelly which came to 100 bucks. They are just NASTY!!! I grew up in Chicago and don't know why ANYONE would like these. I did call Goldbelly and recieved a credit. Tombstone are better. At more then 30 bucks a pie it's ridiculous!!! I can get a Home Run Inn Pizza at my local grocery for only around 9 bucks and they are excellent!!! It's bad when you're hungry and you opt for PB&J instead...Ughhhh!!! I live in Florida now but they can certainly say good bye to my transplanted Yankee butt!!! Why? Just why? Bottom line is don't waste your money. read more

The ambiance of this place depends a lot on the time of the day you show up. If it's earlier in the afternoon this can be a a very kid friendly place. I've driven by Candlelite hundreds of times and I always though it was just a local bar. Then a coworker told me that they had amazing burgers. Since then, I've wanted to try them for myself. It took a while but I finally made my way over to Candlelite with a buddy of mine for the BOGO burger deal on Wednesdays. Amazing deal, average burger. I ordered the smokehouse. It's got bbq sauce, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onions. It was hardly smokey and definitely not a house. I have pretty high standards when it comes to burgers ever since I visited a certain heavy metal bar. Candlelite just didn't seem to ignite the fire; it barely lived up to its name. I'll probably visit again because it's close to home and they've got daily deals [see photos]. read more

Delicious thin crust pizzas made to order. So good. We took a couple pies to go because this place was the only one around that was open. We lucked into a great pizza place. I've been here three times and every time I do, I wonder why I don't come more often. The staff is kind and helpful, the food is great, and it is accepting of all kinds of people. My wife and I recently watched a Bears game here (lots of screens) and we loved the mixture of folks in the bar. There were young folks, old folks, hipsters, families.... you name it. Everyone was having a good time and high fiving after touchdowns. We ordered pizza, one of the best in Chicago, very thin crispy crust. We also ordered buffalo tater tots and Daisy Cutters.
