There's butter in dishes I didn't expect but I was still able to try many different things. There's no butter in the gravy but they do butter the baked chicken. It felt cozy and roomy. The table chairs ate a little stiff for my bony butt. I preferred the booths even though they're a little tighter seating. However my brother do love coming here ( when he lived in the city) so since he was visiting he mentioned he wanted to go and we went back again. LaVilla is not only a place for great food, but the perfect spot for dinner before the theater. The six of us came in from Lake Zurich to see The Phantom of the Opera and stopped at LaVilla for a pre-theater dinner. The bar, the service, and the food were all outstanding. My roommate Robert took us there to celebrate my birthday, and I couldn't have been more impressed. From the moment we walked in, everything was outstanding -- the menu, the atmosphere, and especially the service. Our server, Emily, was fantastic -- attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. And once again, the food was absolutely incredible. The 40 dollar rib-eye was really filling but thin (not the best rib-eye I've ever had, but, then again, this is an Italian restaurant). It was in a wine sauce. Also had a minestrone soup - okay. A salad - okay. They don't do substitutions on sides. They give the table wrapped mini breadsticks , cheesy focaccia bread, and some other cheesy bread. We really liked our first visit here tonight. If you are gluten free, this place is amazingly knowledgeable, and dedicated to having many choices. It was so refreshing to see a restaurant that was so compassionate. My wife is a celiac and a lot of restaurants don't know what they are talking about when it comes to gluten free options. Came here with the family for a Birthday dinner. We were a party of 11. Our server SAM was amazing, very tentative and super nice. The food portions are huge. My entree came with a soup and a salad and a big portion of chicken parm. The price per dish is worth all the food you get. Sam was nice to separate tabs without a fuss. Their focaccia bread is so soft and pairs well with an olive oil and Parmesan cheese dip. I ordered the Steak ala Villa and for the taste and portion size, $30 is worth it. The meat is very tender and juicy, and they do not hesitate to load on the sauce and mushrooms. The staff were very friendly and served the food relatively fast, and never failed to keep on refilling the table with more bread. La Villa will always be so close to my heart as I fell in love with an Albany Park native and we had some very nice dinners there as a precursor to our eventual wedding reception happening in their La Strada event space! I have to say that the event planning there was perfection. I met alone with the coordinator, and she was willing to meet again with me and my husband to finalize details. They really do a fantastic job without an overwhelming price tag. On the day of our afternoon reception, everything was perfect. Sweet server Rosie seems to be the captain of the Strada room, and she was contacting us throughout the day to keep tabs on what was happening. Our reception was a few months after our small ceremony, so we really wanted an casual atmosphere with a classy vibe, and the La Strada space accomplished this with perfection. Note - they do have a larger banquet space that would accommodate a more upscale vibe for nighttime events. I cannot imagine a better space that would have complemented our vision to such perfection. We had La Villa dinner reservations for NYE this year and were seated in the Strada space, as they do use it for dining as well. It was fun to be back in that room and reflecting on our reception. What fully warmed our hearts...Rosie, who had been the rockstar at our reception, was our server, and she remembered us. But when we let them know "who" made the reservation, all of a sudden they found the reservation. (he's highly respected) person in Chicago. And a side of pasta, and there's where I give them hoorahs: the sauce seemed to of been homemade and thick. Not the watery kind that many establishments put out and try to pass as homemade. This one was seriously not lacking any seasoning and was very thick. Oh, this is the way I like sauces and just like an Italian mama's kitchen, this was perfection! I need this marinara sauce bottled because as a patron of great sauces, this one matched my top 5! Great job and poor mama Celeste has no chance! We hired La Villa to handle the catering for our engagement party. The ordering was easy and took almost no time (my preferred way to do things!). On the day of the party, they arrived on time, handled the set up perfectly, and best of all...the food was incredible. Everyone raved about it. The fried chicken, Italian beef sandwiches, and roasted turkey were fantastic. The marinated mushrooms were a big hit. The veggies and rice and potatoes were all great. The pasta dishes were perfect, the chicken fingers and meatballs were tasty. The other munchies and appetizers were terrific. And probably the biggest rave was the mushroom risotto. It was awesome! Delicious, well prepared, and professional. Our guests loved it. Our only problem...we ordered too much! But have no fear, my fiancée's college age daughter had a gathering with friends the next night...they happily scarfed down the leftovers. Have been going to La Villa on and off since the pandemic. (We don't live particularly close and Chicago is blessed with many fine Italian restaurants.) Pizza has always been good. Dining in also pleasant since staff very outgoing and attentive. Prices reasonable and good sized portions of GOOD food. We all took to-go containers with us. Our eggplant parmigiana, penne with meat sauce, and red clam sauce all tasted delicious the next day. A bonus was that all the diners were serenaded by a choir with Xmas carols for a while as we ate.
