    Grilled calamari
    Hubaab M.

I've been coming here since it was called Suparrosa, if I spelled it correctly. Classy Italian spot, rustic vibes and the staff is very nice. Every time I go here, there's only two dishes I pick from, although I've tried pretty much 80% of the menu at this point(all of which Id recommend). The ribeye and the seafood linguine. Today, I went with the ribeye. We also ordered grilled calamari(of which they use real squid, not imitation meat), and a margherita pie. All of which were amazing. The steak was a little over done on the edges, but when I got a little deeper into it, it was a perfect medium rare. Pizza was fire, they also do the genuine Italian-American thing by bringing out bread with olive oil and parmesan so you can dip the bread in the oil then coat it with the cheese. Ive been coming here since probably 2008, before the name change. Highly recommend.

Legno is a neighborhood gem! Whether it's take out or dine in, their food delivers well. Picked up spaghetti and veal meatballs with broccolini and bread and it was all still hot and fresh when we got home. Dined in and had the chicken piccata with a side of parm risotto and that was tasty! The Mac and cheese is like no other. Other items we enjoy here is the Cesar salad with chicken and diovolo pizza!

Kids took me here for Mother's Day I ordered avocado toast, and the plate vas not altered, except I lifted two over easy eggs to see where the avocados were! O pretty much needed a magnifying glass to find it! Maybe a 1/4 of an avocado on there . I mean, picture is worth a million bucks! I thought this was a prank, or hidden camera; for real! When I told waiters o actually ordered avocado toast, she looked at me and said; you don't like it? What's wrong with it!? I told her that's no avocado toast at all, she said; oh, it's a new thing on the menu! I was like; please tell them to take it off the menu asap. I'm still in shock. Even the rest of the veggies and fruits looked stale. I've ordered Mediterranean salad and that was a ok. We've been here many times, and always enjoyed it, but this last time it was kind of disappointing. Perhaps, under new management or new chef. No bueno!

Chicken and Waffles and bottomless mimosas? Sign me up for the perfect Sunday brunch I've walked past this place for years, but finally stopped by this past weekend. Very enjoyable experience, would have loved to sit outside but the street was pretty loud. Inside is gorgeous though, so can't complain. They have a pizza oven in the back, and their pastas looked amazing, so will be coming back to try their dinner menu!

Food was just not that well. The meatball at its base is very bland. Burger was good but the sauces on top are conflicting. Potato's could be served with some cream of some sorts to break up all of the savory flavor

unexpected free dessert which was really appreciated.

Very happy with the food and portions, everything was delicious. We are very pleased with the management and the wait staff...always. They take care of the customers no matter what problem may arise. They made sure we were comfortable and moved us to an area that was quieter, plus turned the music down. Even though the problem was my hearing issue. Thank you to the manager and Jimmy the waiter, we were really pleased with everything.

I am living my life now! After my best friends and I completed getting out Covid-19 vaccines, we decided to finally get together for brunch and to come to a place where social distancing is a must, this was the perfect place. Out table was perfect and maybe one other couple 15 feet away from our table is the perfect place to be. I got the pasta with lobster and I must admit this is the dish! It was absolutley perfectly seasoned and just an awesome portion. enough of course to take half of it home. This portion was defintely enough for two to share. But ill have lunch now for tomorrow. So I can admit, way more food for one! Also had one of the best bloody Mary's! Fully loaded with celery stick, olives, wedge of lemon and lime and a nicely done bacon slice, oh and a shrimp! I highly recommend this spit for some Brunch. It's really a safe way to come back to society.

I should start off by saying that we came out to Legno with Suparossa pizza in mind. And we did have thoroughly enjoy some of the best pizza, both pan and thin crust, in the city. Both Pepperoni and the sausage are delicious and the crust is heavenly. I should add that the cheese they use is obviously premium and was the perfect compliment to the pizzas other ingredients. However, we ordered from the Legno menu as well. We chose the calamari and arancini as appetizers. Holy Hell! The arancini were excellent! I cannot recommend them enough. You can taste the fresh ingredients and care taken making them authentic Italian. After that we jumped into one of the best fettuccine Alfredo dishes that I have had anywhere. I had to bribe my daughter to share more than a couple bites with me. I ordered the gnocchi which, again, was delicious. The Italian sausage was spot on in flavor and texture, the gravy (sauce), had hint of spice without taking away from the other flavors. The service was excellent and the drinks were strong! My family of four will be making the trek out here again soon. Legno has earned a spot in our favorites places to eat list!

Normally I hate those kinds of large group dinners, but this was the perfect spot for it. The service was absolutely wonderful. I don't know how our server stayed so cool and calm with a group that size. We got a variety of things. EVERYTHING was amazing. If you have seen any of my other reviews, I always get a meatball when I'm at a place that has them. They almost never live up to my expectation. But this place has the new gold standard for a meatball. It was everything you want. It is fork tender, full of flavor, no chewy ground up bits. The pizzas were authentic and thin. With fabulous house made red sauce that wasn't too thick and overwhelming. The flavor was A+ The cocktails were so good! All made from scratch with love. The ambiance was cozy and comfortable. We had visited Florence last year, and one of the numerous wonderful moments of our trip to Italy was seeing "Il Porcellino" - the lucky bronze boar fountain that draws tourists from around the world. A copy of the boar stands proudly near the entrance of the restaurant, and though it is not as old as the original 1634 sculpture, it was a charming reminder of our amazing Italian holiday. Did I mention that the weekday Happy Hour (4-6PM) specials are quite good? The specials are served only at the bar area, so you might have to wait a few minutes for available seating. We started with some drinks, including two kinds of Negroni. The wild mushroom arancini (5 little balls for $6) were the smallest I've tried, but they were creamy and melt-in-your mouth delicious. The whipped ricotta and jam beautifully served on a strip of toasty focaccia was a unique taste sensation. Prime beef meatballs and short rib sliders on toasted ciabatta bread also hit the spot. Even though we were merely dining at the bar, we enjoyed the overall vibe of the restaurant. There are lots of photos on the walls, interesting lighting from the ceiling, nice serving dishes, and servers who seem to know who their regular diners are. We look forward to returning to Il Porcellino, to bask in that indescribable feeling of being in Italy again.

It's one of those places that you find yourself talking about long after the meal is over. The garlic bread alone is worth the visit. They pour what feels like a gallon of garlic butter over it, and somehow it's still never enough. It's rich, indulgent, and absolutely delicious. We order it every single time and would probably be disappointed if we didn't. The real star of the show, though, is the lasagna. Between the two of us, we've had lasagna at countless restaurants, and nothing has come close to this one. It's hands down the best lasagna we've ever had. Perfect layers, incredible flavor, and the kind of comfort food that makes you want to savor every bite. Their Grey Goose espresso martini is also unmatched. We've tried espresso martinis all over Chicago, and this one is still our favorite. It's smooth, perfectly balanced, and the ideal way to start or end the meal. The atmosphere is another reason we love coming here. The restaurant is gorgeous inside, with a dark, moody vibe that makes it feel special without being stuffy. It's the perfect date night spot whether you're celebrating something or just looking for a great night out together. If you're visiting Chicago and love Italian food, Il Porcellino is a must. Reservations are released 21 days ahead of time, which I personally find impossible to make. Every time I've checked over the last several years there have been no availability. Yesterday I decided to pop on their website again and was delighted to find that they had released same day dinner reservations for patio only dining. The weather was perfect for outdoor dining so I went ahead and booked a table for Friday night. I felt like I won the dinner lottery. Service was wonderful and I didn't mind sitting outside at all next to the road with cars. I actually never stepped foot in the restaurant so cannot comment on what it's like inside. But do not give up that patio dining reservation if it's available. All of our dishes were delicious. I was really impressed by the meatball appetizers, chicken vesuvio (the potatoes are a must get as a side if you skip this dish), and branzino. The meats and sauces were wonderfully balanced and tender. Nothing tasted overly salted. Ironically, the pasta felt less of a star compared to the other dishes. And of course I had to get the gelato, which was so aesthetically presented and the taste just reminded me of an Italian summer vacation.
