BEWARE. Food was mediocre at best. I walked in to eat but eventually ordered to go. I ordered a large coctel de camaron to share and when I served myself in a plate, I found a hair stuck to a shrimp, it looks like it could be a beard hair. The rest of the food we ordered was bland. It was my second time ordering/eating at this place and I always have a bad experience. Service was also horrible, it seemed the waitresses didn't even know what they were doing nor cared about their job. No wonder that place is empty more than half of the time. read more

This place is a mediocre spot to get latino seafood. The food is nice and hot but its either been frozen for awhile before cooking or frozen after cooking then cooked again, best way for me to describe it. Prices are also a little high. When we got there initially I asked for a tomahawk steak, the server said they didnt have any left, so I passed. Now heres the weird part, she tries selling me another steak on the menu. I declined once, and she kept pushing it..then when I told her I wasnt interested in steak at all, she says " oh I think we have the tomahawk" wtf?? Lol. Did you forget you had some and remembered right then and there without checking? Either way I declined and just had the molcajete. The food and service was good. We ordered La Bolsita, a shrimp boil with potatoes and corn and it was full of flavor. We also had the Chicharron de Pescado! Strips of fish, marinated with lime, breaded, fried and so crunchy! The place is BYOB, you can bring your fave wine or beer to compliment the food! I find the price reasonable. read more

We ordered carry out and were blown away by the depth of flavor and the amount of seafood in each of our dishes. -calamares al ajillo were well prepared and went great on a tostada (provided) and topped with a spicy salsa verde. -pasta marinera was rich and creamy without being overly so. -paella del mar had a seemingly endless amount of seafood and a wonderful flavor with the perfect amount of subtle heat. I can't speak for dining in, but we recently got takeout of one of the family platters and were absolutely impressed. The portion was extremely large for $35 and definitely could feed 3-4 people from a small (but it only fed two last night ;) ). The service was quick and pleasant. My piña was delicious I usually ask for Nayarit sauce on side to add to my piña and waitress took my request correctly and on time with my food (other places make it hard or get me the sauce very late when almost done with my food) and the guacamole so delish tasted fresh and had flavor. My husband order his usual fish al mojo de ajo and he was very happy with the flavor. I only removed one start because it can be hard to find parking and I would had loved some drinks but they do have BYOB which I did not know. First of all they advertise their tomahawk steak for the price of 55$ but when you get into the restaurant they tell you it's 75$ instead. Then they bring you out an oversalted steak. On the pictures it is a nice presentation but in person they just give you the steak with a little side of fries and a small side of bagged (not even fresh) vegetables. For 75$ I expect vegetables that are not from the frozen section and bigger portions of the sides. The seafood is mediocre at best. I've definitely had way better around Albany Park. I didn't even finish my food and asked for a container to take home....which took 10 minutes to get cause the waitresses were talking instead of doing their actual job (no, it was not busy during the time I went). I only give it two stars because I enjoyed the ceviche and a whole package of tostadas they give you and their bolsita was decent , too. read more

The food is okay but the service is horrible. It says a lot about a business's professionalism if you see under the Google reviews they respond with sarcasm to genuine reviews of real experiences, maybe something they can learn from and improve their operations, but instead responding with sass. That is the exact experience you get in person as well. My family and I had a $100+ tab and the waitress attempted to refuse giving me free water in a cup. 3 other tables had patrons, all were served a cup of water as a courtesy like usual. I asked for water and given a water bottle they charged for I responded that I would not like a water bottle instead a cup the waitress attempting to refuse by saying she can not remove the bottle from our tab... Really? You want to be greedy over a $2 water bottle when we just paid $100 + for your resturaunt experience. Shame in this economy no one needs the attitude, word will get around the community and you will lose more business than you can keep. Ordered a carne asada only for it to arrive 20+ minutes later than the rest of my party with no apologies for the long wait, it does not take an additional 20 minutes to cook carne asada when another member of my party also ordered the same thing- shouldn't both items be cooked at the same time? Just discovered this place as it used to be Ay Ay Picante. After reading the positive reviews, I decided to give it a try. The food was delicious! We started out with the shrimp ceviche, then ordered the langoustines and the mixed fajita platter. The food was flavorful and left me craving more. Our waitress Michele was pleasant and helpful. We like to get a centrally located place to meet with friends and this was suggested. What a gem of a find. The music was loud but vibrant and the restaurant reminded me of the comfort of local food cafes of Latin America.
