This was the second time (different day) I have told the girls in the front that they had a fly in their glass fridge in the front with all the cookies!! And they do nothing about it! How disgusting. They care more about people wearing their mask over their nose but are not clean to the cookies with a bug flying around. The chunky girl with rainbow eyeshadow and rainbow shirt RUDE, I couldn't help laugh cause she's more worried about the mask but not worried about the cleanliness of the bakery. NASTY! What can I say about this place that hasn't already been said? I live in a neighborhood nearby, and Candle Light Bakery is a regular stop on my list. They have a nice selection of freshly-baked pastries that pair wonderfully with their espresso-based beverages. The owner is serious about coffee, which is really great, because they are always bringing in new and exciting roasts that will challenge your taste buds. They offer espresso, lattes, pour over coffee, and some blended drinks also. Candle Light was largely known as a baker of cakes over the years, but ever since moving to their current location, they have really made an effort on breakfast pastries (chocolate cigars and guava flake pastries, please!) and coffee. I wish they would have even more focus on the coffee, because it is that good. Unfortunately, it is not consistent, and the espresso drinks will vary based on the server. Sterling does an excellent job, as does the shop owner. I have also tried several of their cakes. My personal favorite is to keep it simple with a fruit-filled white cake. Their customer service is great, always willing to offer options and always will to meet your needs. I brought in a picture as I have don't in the past and they were all over it. If you have a picture In mind of how you want your cake decorated, come here. They have accomplished every design I have shown/came up with. The cake is always decorated exactly how I wanted. BUT the taste is terrible. I don't understand how or what they do. If you buy a cake from the display it tastes great, but my custom cakes always taste terrible. The cakes In the displays are always so moist and flavorful, that's why I come back but my custom cakes are ALWAYS dry and legit have no flavor to it. All you taste is the frosting. I ordered my cake for my son yesterday and it LOOKED so amazing, but was inedible. This USED to be my go to bakery for all my kids birthday cake orders. I came in today to order a basic blue 1 tier 8" cake with some checkered fondant around the bottom and a hot wheels logo on the front. I ordered something similar a couple years ago and it only cost me like $40. This cake on the other hand was around $160!!! WTH??? For a one tier 8" cake??? That's insane if you ask me.. and to top it off I originally wanted a simple hot wheels loop on the top of the cake but that loop alone was going to cost $40 BY ITSELF! I have ordered several cakes here before and have never had an issue. This time, however, it seemed that the bakery fell short. 1. The cake was suppose to be ready at 5:30pm for pick up, instead when my sister arrived to pick up the cake at 6pm, the cake was made incorrectly and on a round sheet cake instead of square. The bakery said they'd fix it and put it on a square sheet cake that they had to spare. So my sister waited 15-20 minutes for the cake to be remade. 2. Since they had to remake the cake, you can tell that the cake looked rushed. There was a gap between the black sides and the red piping on the top of the cake and the color looked like it was fading as it went higher up the cake and went from a black color to a fading grey-blue color then to white. The writing wasn't centered and wasn't at all like the picture I had provided the bakery with. 3. When we finally cut into the cake at home the filling wasn't even a custard filling, like I had ordered. It was just plain whipped cream like frosting, pretty much like what they used to frost the exterior of the cake with. I took pictures of everything and let the bakery know what my issues were. I had my party Saturday evening (the bakery was already closed by the time we cut into the cake) and Sunday my family and I had gotten sick with the flu. I finally had a chance to call the bakery on Wednesday when we were feeling better and sent them a list of my issues and the attached pictures of what the cake was suppose to look like and what it actually looked like. When they finally answered my issues they basically called me a liar and said their baker said the cake was a custard filling (which I'm sure it was on the original round cake they made, not the sheet cake they had to remake the cake onto last minute). Since the baker said it was custard, they said they wouldn't do anything about the filling. They offered to refund me $9 for the wait and for the decoration. Just as an idea, my cake was about $50, including the additional charge of $5 for the sprayed black sides the border and writing are included in the $44 pricing of the sheet cake itself. So yippie, you're giving me back what I payed for the sprayed sides and $4 for having to wait for the cake to be remade incorrectly and for the atrocious writing on top. And then to be called a liar for the filling. The cakes are usually good, but I'm so frustrated with the customer service that this will be the last time I use this bakery. Having bought plenty of cakes from them before and raved about their cakes to others, they definitely lost a loyal customer. read more

I am excited to see that they have grown to know incorporate a full coffee bar, which gives the place a Porto's-like feel. I wish they had more room for seating so that I can study there! I gave this place 4 stars for two reasons--- first, the costumer service is o.k. They can be a little more friendly in general. Second, they have no decaf espresso! I know what you are thinking: "what kind of person goes to a bakery/coffee shop to get decaf?!" The answer is ME! I love coffee but since i have recently had a baby and I am breast feeding, decaf has been my saving grace (I am one of those people who love coffee for it's taste not for the caffeine high although that is a plus as well). On one of my few moments that I had free, I stopped by to try the horchata late (which my husband had highly recommended). Decorated beautifully their signature horchata latte is so good as well, my only tip for improvement on the latte would be make it warmer it was kind of cold considering it's a hot coffee. Probably one of the few place in the area where you can get a decent latte. I found this place via yelp, and have not been let down. The coffee is not mindblowing, but it is decent and CONSISTENTLY so, which I can appreciate. The staff has always been very pleasant, so nothing to complain about there. The location is not the best - it's in this strip mall with a few random businesses nearby. But, the interior is clean and simpo. I haven't tried any of their cakes, but they look great. They remind me of portos cakes. The macarons are a recent addition, and they look slightly amateur-ish, but I am somewhat of a macaron snob. Overall, worth the visit if you're craving a latte while in the neighborhood. I think it's slightly on the pricey side ($4.50 for a vanilla latte) when considering the overall quality. read more

Our favorite bakery! We moved out of the area, a far 15 minutes :D but we drive back for our favorite... chocolate ganache cake! It's chocolate cake on steroids! Holy cow it's so good! The bakery is nice and maybe good for cakes, but the pastries are okay, which is why I'm only giving 3 stars. The first time I visited I got a few macarons and they were all hard and crumbly! Only one seemed fresh. When I came for my second visit, I asked of they were fresh but the girl seemed surprised by my question and didn't have an answer. I don't know how you can work at a place and not know if the pastries were made the same day or not? You or somebody else had to be there to open and see if new ones were put out, or the leftovers from yesterday.
