I can only say to stay away from Camping World Mesa off Gilbert and Main if you are looking for a travel trailer, RV, or just about anything else. They are apparently great until they have your money, and then could care less about standing behind the products they sell, total lack of accountability, and customer service.
I bought a Brand New Sales Select travel trailer in February of this year. I also purchased the extended warranty offered to me, even though I typically do not buy that type of thing, I went ahead since this was brand new and my first travel trailer.
I picked it up, brought it home, and have not had the chance to use it, not once. However, by the end of May/beginning of June, so around three months in, the side has started to warp, and the interior has all sorts of spots bleeding thru the finishes. But hey, good thing I bought a warranty right, plus, being BRAND new, I was SURE they would be willing to help out.
Well, upon calling to ask about the issues, I was told by the sales manager, I believe his name was Jay, that I had "bought a tin can nailed to a 2x4" and that's why the side was warping. Yes that is a direct quote, and was NOT the description the salesperson used at all when selling us this travel trailer. It was explained that these are built back east, and upon coming out here to Arizona, the wood dries out and can pull away from the sides, creating the warping issue. I was also told the putty used inside can bleed thru the wall paper, but to bring it in and they would look at it.
After dropping off, I was contacted by service approx a week later and told they probably would not warranty anything, but hopefully they would. REALLY? ITS BRAND NEW, NEVER USED ONCE! So I let them know this is not acceptable to me. They said they would try. This went back and forth three times, each time stressing they probably would not do anything on these issues in this brand new travel trailer, and each time I let them know that as a customer that was not an acceptable answer. So they finally said they would warranty the inside issues.
Then the body shop called and said they would not warranty the side warping issues. Similar situation to above. I reached out to the sales department again, who apologized and told me that "service sets expectations low and typically denies people until you are a jerk" Another pretty much direct quote, but slightly paraphrased. I was told to call Forest River, who makes the travel trailer, and maybe they would help me. That was not really cool, since I bought the trailer from Camping World, WITH an extended warranty, so I contacted "Marcus's office" Camping World corporate per their message so this could be escalated and resolved. In the end, the issues were once again denied, even though they are obvious, and blame was placed on the manufacturer, and all accountability and anything resembling customer service after the sale was simply not there.
So, I bought a new travel trailer, from Camping World, WITH both a manufacturer warranty AND extended warranty, never used once, and all issues and defects are being denied.
Here's what I was told by Camping World employees as a recap:
- I bought a tin can nailed to a 2x4
- Service sets expectations low according to sales
- Service told me sales sets expectations too HIGH for them and unrealistic.
-That these are built in a different part of the country so expect them to fall apart out here in Arizona
-That the manufacturers are cranking them out so fast due to demand right now they are literally throwing them together shoddily, and just dealing with warranty issues later
The above was all told to me by multiple Camping World employees from Sales, service and management. My issues were escalated, and ignored.
So, if you choose to shop at Camping World, or are considering a travel trailer or RV from there, please remember the above is only said AFTER they have taken your money and sold you extra warranties, and do not expect them to stand behind the products they sell or represent at all. Please see attached pics for issues, as well as signs they have in their SERVICE area, NOWHERE in the sales area, saying that they will now not even consider cosmetic issues due to how poorly the products they sell are made. I can only say that I would recommend taking your business to a company that understands and cares about customer service, since at all levels of Camping World, those important things mean nothing. I can not recommend Camping World on any area, a total failure of customer service and integrity with this company. read more
