Bonus: John always gets some cute pics too.

As he settled in my home, he became increasingly aggressive towards other people -- friends, family, and strangers alike, whether in the home or outside of the home. Sully was even aggressive towards my husband, and it felt like I was at a loss. I needed to do something before he actually ended up hurting someone. After explaining what was happening with Sully with the organization I was fostering from, they said they would need to put him down for the safety of the community. I couldn't let that happen, so I decided to keep him and find professional help. This is where John came in. After doing research online, I came across his Yelp page, where there were raving reviews of him helping aggressive dogs, so I took a chance. On his first day meeting John, Sully growled, hissed, and lunged at John. Sully tried to bite both him and me. John spent about an hour with me explaining what was going to happen and some training basics, and honestly, it was hard for me to focus because I was so nervous of Sully hurting someone in the moment. John was very patient, and showed me 5x how to hold a leash properly because I just couldn't focus from nervousness. I've never seen Sully so aggressive, and John explained it's because it was the first time someone was checking him and keeping him in his place. Sully stayed with John for a little over two weeks, and in that time, they went on ADVENTURES. I mentioned to John that Sully was afraid of water, aggressive with strangers, and other very specific things, and John made sure to tackle all of them. He sent me pictures and videos of his adventures throughout their time together. They went on a ferry, hiked to a waterfall, and so so much more. When there was a concern or something to celebrate, John was sure to communicate with us what was going on. In addition, due to personal circumstances, we needed to have Sully stay with John a few more days, and John was so understanding and accommodated us. I finally have my sweet boy back, and I see so much of a difference. He is calmer, more responsive, and he's running through my sprinklers now. LOL. It still takes him a bit to warm up to other people, but he's not as on guard or on edge as he was before. I'm excited to continue his progress at home, and I'm sure we will see John and Sara for future stays! Here are just a few of my favorite pictures of his adventures with John and Sara. :)

Last year I paid handsomely for a Belgian Malinois female. She had a lot of medical issues not described in her veterinary record. She was in terrible pain when I i got her to our vet. He asked to take the dog back and give mE a new one; as if the damage to my dogs health esteem was ok. Anyway, don't fly to Canada. Don't wire Perry money. don't sign any shady contracts (he gives you a bad dog and then says you have 3 month to PROVE you need another). Don't even hear him out. A guy who treats dogs this bad isn't to be trusted.

I had previously tried Board and Train programs at Sit Means Sit twice, but they didn't help with KB's anxiety at all. Tony was a completely different experience. What sets Tony apart is how thorough he is. He didn't just give commands; he constantly explained the "why" behind KB's behaviors. He was also incredibly supportive of me, helping me work through my own fears and nervousness. Because of his guidance, I can now actually play box with KB without the fear that he'll suddenly react toward me. We covered so much ground, including: * Command & Muzzle Work: Building a foundation of safety and communication. * Boundaries: KB used to be glued to my side whenever I answered the door. Now, he can stay calmly on the couch while I greet someone, and he stays indoors even when I go through the patio door. * Safety & Care: Tony was always so accommodating with scheduling. If it was too hot for an outdoor session, he would proactively suggest changing it for KB's safety. If you feel stuck or overwhelmed with your dog's behavior, go to Tony. He turned everything around for us, and I'm so grateful for the confidence he's given both me and KB.

Now that I have more time I wanted to finish Bella's training. I reached out to bark busters because Bella had a lot of anxiety and would have non stop barking issues. We have a new baby in the house so all the barking was no fun! I'm telling you, no joke after the first visit with our trainer Justine, I felt as if Bella was a whole new dog! She gives such great advice on how to properly train your dog without food incentives and shock collars! I was so amazed that I started telling a lot of my friends about it! I just finished my second session with Justine today and she was giving me tips and tricks on how to walk Bella without her pulling. By the end of the session I was walking Bella and Bella wasn't walking me! Justine truly cares for me and Bella and is very thoughtful on modifying things that help me the best! It's definitely worth the investment. I couldn't be any more happy and I would definitely recommend Bark Busters, especially with Justine, to everyone and anyone! Enjoy a picture of Bella after our training session today!

Since then, we have done our best to train her (even hired a dog training company) and while she's been amazing to us, there have been some incidents. We tried to correct her behavior but we had to go beyond just correcting a behavior, we had to know the why. We needed a dog behaviorist. Enter Bark Busters and Justine! From the very first phone conversation with Justine, she told us about a dog's personality (the who) vs. a dog's behavior (the why). Was our dog just naturally an aggressive dog or was our dog showing aggression due to past trauma. After the initial phone call then came the in person assessment in our home, Justine knew our dog's personality was sweet and loving to us; however, due to her being a rescue, her past experiences led to trauma that led to aggressive behaviors towards others in certain situations. Moreover, during that first assessment, she educated us things we had no idea about or thought about with dogs as pets plus what we need to be and do as owners. Justine was and is exactly what we were looking for in understanding our dog and from there building the right relationship with our dog that will keep her and others safe. The business model and curriculum that Bark Busters and Justine have put in place is one of a kind and works from day 1. We have always wanted what is best for our dog and to give her the best life possible, especially because she is a rescue and her breed. Bark Busters and Justine continues to give us the tools in place to build the confidence and trust we have as owners in our dog and our dog has in us as owners. We are forever grateful to Justine and will recommend her and Bark Busters to anyone!

Grand Animal Hospital was offering a $200 off Dental Cleaning Special. For Grade 1 or 2, the price would be $696.75. For Grade 3 or 4, the price would be $797.75. This price was very reasonable compared to other quotes I received. I made an appointment. The vet examined the dog and determined that it would cost $797.75. This price included an exam, bloodwork, anesthesia, teeth scaling and polishing, pain injection, antibiotic injection, and three different medications to take home. I left her there around 11 am and picked her up around 3 pm. As you can see by these pictures, they did an incredible job! The staff was so nice and answered my many questions. If your pet needs their teeth cleaned, I highly recommend Grand Animal Hospital!

She started to sneeze a lot yesterday and it looked like she was trying to get something out of it. Since our regular vet didn't have any appointments, I scheduled a same day visit at Grand Animal Hospital. The doctor (an Indian female, though she never introduced herself or gave her name) examined my dog very briefly which literally just a couple of seconds and said she wanted to order an X-ray and bloodwork to check her white blood cell count. I asked if she could check inside my dog's nose for a possible foreign object. She said she couldn't because it would require putting my dog under anesthesia. I then asked if an X-ray would show a foreign body, and she told me no, it would only show structural issues, which was not my main concern. However, shortly after, she contradicted herself and said the X-ray could show a foreign object. She also said the bloodwork would show inflammation, but my dog's nose was already visibly swollen inside and bleeding, so inflammation was obvious. When I tried to explain that the inside of her nose looked swollen, she interrupted me and said, "there is no swelling, everything looks normal," without even properly examining her. My dog is a Pomeranian with Alopecia X (hair loss), which is a very common condition in this breed. When the doctor saw my dog has no hair, she looked suprised. The doctor seemed unfamiliar with it and suggested my dog must be mixed, which is incorrect. I also mentioned that my dog has itchy skin on her sides, but the doctor ignored this concern and instead just said she didn't see any fleas, which makes no sense since my dog has almost no hair. At the end of the visit, she said a nurse would bring an estimate for the X-ray and bloodwork. When the estimate came out, there was an additional test for upper respiratory infection that the doctor had never mentioned. The total estimate was around $1100 for only x ray and 2 blood work. This is the most expensive hospital ever. Overall, I felt like the doctor did not listen to my concerns, did not perform a proper exam, and was more focused on ordering tests than addressing the actual issue. Because of this, my husband and I decided not to proceed with any of the recommended tests and left. Unfortunately, the visit still cost $59, which felt like a complete waste given the lack of care and knowledge. The nurse was nice and waiting time was quick.
