We got takeout here last night and the order was delayed when I arrived to pick it up. The hostess apologized numerous times and was very professional in handling the situation. After waiting for a long time the food came and the hostess informed me that the meal was being taken care of and there would be no charge. As a customer I understand that mistakes will happen at a restaurant, but its the way that they are handled that says a lot about a place. Loved the food! I give this a 4 since the wait and service could have been better (due to the crowd the server was taking care of a larger party and we didn't have as much attention). My husband gives a 5, he didn't mind the wait. While waiting for our seat we had crackers and cheese and they gave the girls (our 4 and 6 year olds) paper to color and crayons. The ambiance was nice (canoes in the ceiling and oars on the wall) and on Saturday night we sat near a performer (guitarist) which made the space loud but still nice. I can't say enough good things about this place. Started off with a s'mores martini.. AMAZING. We got the bloomin bread.. I swear it was the best thing I've ever put in my mouth. For my entree I got the Mac n cheese.. also so so amazing and cheesy. The pasta was cooked perfectly. For dessert.. omg the s'mores dip. Don't even get me started it was SO good! We went for a family dinner after New Years Day. Love the decor and music! It has a great vibe. Even our 12 year old was grooving to the music with his grandfather!! Update after a phone call and email they didn't really seem to believe us or didn't care and offered a free app next time we ate there. No thanks. After 12 years of eating a common man restaurant at least 20 times a yr, I've never really complained (even with so really bad experiences like chicken fried and served with the plastic frozen wrapper on) and learned it doesn't really have an impact. Ive been here a couple of times now. Very convenient area, located right in town. It can be busy, especially during the summer. Very nice staff with a calm environment. Ive had a couple of different things on the menu and so far i've been impressed with it all. My favorite so far was the Mac Daddy Nachos :) Definitely recommend. read more

So disappointed in the service and it seems to get worse every time we go...We like sitting at the bar because generally you get better and faster service. We grabbed two recently vacated seats and waited for 10-15 minutes before the bar was cleared and we were asked for drink orders. We saw others experience the same thing. It wasn't very busy and there were 2 bartenders on. They seemed to avoid scanning our area and we even helped others get their attention. When we wanted to order drinks and food, we had to flag someone down. Same for refills, silverware, appetizer plates. We had to reach over for our own to go container. We had to remind the bartender what we ordered for meals after 30+ minutes and everyone else around us getting their meals. She had her back to us or was totally engaged with another party the entire time and we weren't the only ones ignored. The blatant lack of customer service made us question if there was even a manager onsite. She was there but obviously not setting a high standard. When our late meal came undercooked and we sent it back, she came over and told us it was cooked. When we didn't see it was taken off the bill (our mistake!), she basically threw the bill back in our face. When we offered to explain why we were upset with the service, she declined to listen. My husband worked at Camp the year it opened and Alex Ray was onsite to make sure service was impeccable. We expect that standard of any Common Man restaurant. We get it at Lago and Lakehouse but Camp seems to be where the worst staff end up. Everyone should be held to the same high standards! We love the atmosphere, food, and drinks but sadly I think we'll go elsewhere from now on primarily based on the service. Bartenders should be quick, attentive and action-oriented, not sloppy, lazy, and clueless about the needs of the customers who are literally right in front of them! read more

Very solid dinner choice. The waiter was nice, service was fairly prompt and the food was good. We had the falafel and it was not at all dry. Ribs were good, fish and chips was a huge portion. They really are in a terrible spot, you have to know its there. They do take reservations for large groups, but we were there early enough that we did not have an issue. Huge points to the manager- she was watching staff like a hawk and jumped in a few times to stop random chatter or make sure waters were filled and tables were cleared. The atmosphere and decor are a 10/10, but the food fell a little flat. We had onion rings that were mushy and not crispy. The lobster corn dogs sounded like a cool idea, but the batter was just the same type as the onion rings and they missed the mark. The best of all we ate was the falafel sandwich. read more

We went with high expectations and it started off well. Appetizers were very good. Our entrees not so much. Veggie burgers need to be warmed up. Mine was burned to a crisp. After removing the burned sections, it was very good. The bacon wrapped shrimp was too salty. The burgers were good. Our server was great and handled the kitchen back up very well. 2 stars...I'm being generous. Very small, lots of "charm" on the walls. Whatever. I'd rather eat in a burnt out storage shed with awesome food instead of a tiny cutesy place with crappy food. I had to give this place 2 stars simply because the Camp crackers (flatbread with melted cheese) and the clam chowder were excellent. If you ask me though, it's pretty difficult to screw up melted cheese on a cracker. The menu didn't have much variety. It took quite a while for our drink order to be brought to the table. I made the mistake of getting the "sangria" which should be called "vodka fruit punch" since there was no red wine in it like a real sangria should have. My boyfriend ordered the baby back ribs which were okay, but nothing to write home about. I ordered the "pork" sandwich served on house made flatbread. Awful. There was barely any pork on the sandwich at all. Very little meat, mostly gristle and fat. It wasn't seasoned and tasted like lard. When I picked up the sandwich a tiny waterfall of fatty oil dripped onto the plate, forming a small grease puddle all over the french fries. I tried to pick the fat out of the meat to salvage whatever I could from this disaster meal. Basically I was left with grease soaked flatbread filled with lettuce and two slices of tomato. I ended up taking one bite and eating half of the pickle spear and some of the fries that weren't drenched in pork fat. Unfortunately I have never been able to send a meal back to the kitchen in the fear of what the kitchen staff would do to the next meal brought to me, so I had the abomination boxed up to go. We paid the bill to the rather vacant waitress, left the restaurant, and tossed the leftovers in a parking lot trash can. Ended up eating ice cream for dinner at the little place across the street. We should have done that to begin with. read more

best biscuits ever! amazing cozy lodge type feel. it was so good, we went there two nights in a row on our vacation.

We've eaten here twice over two years. Conveniently located in the Mill Falls marketplace. The decor is wonderful, it's a cute little restaurant and bar with a, well, 'camp' feel. The menu had lots of interesting selections. However on both visits, I found the food to be incredibly overpriced and bland. Both times our waitresses seemed to lose interest in us towards the end of the meal, even though we were a party of six with the potential for a good tip. About halfway through, each waitress left us hanging in need of drink refills, and at the end it was like pulling teeth to get them to bring us our bill and run our cards. Unless I'm dragged by family and friends, I won't be back unless it's for desert. read more

Camp is a part of the Common Man Family (which means it rarely, if ever, disappoints). The atmosphere is definitely "campy" and gives a nice, relaxed, welcoming feel to the restaurant. It's a smaller restaurant and that's one of the things I like best about Camp. I enjoy that the majority of the time, it's a cozy, quiet nook to have a nice, comforting and savory meal. They have a great cocktail menu and a nice wine selection. The menu is wonderful. You really should do yourself a favor and try the Camp Crackers! They're amazing pita-like triangular pieces of bread that have gorgonzola and green onion on top. They're delicious and served on a table length wooden board. The Camp Salad isn't anything unique but Camp gets it right. Spinach, gorgonzola, balsamic, candied nuts... YUM. It's an amazing salad. The entrees are all spectacular. Although it seems silly, TRY THE GRILLED CHEESE! It's by far the best grilled cheese I've ever had. It's served with a cup of tomato soup and it's just amazing. Comfort food to a T. Every meal I have had there is phenomenal. The baked scallops are probably my second favorite. Camp is definitely worth a visit! read more

As a former camper and camp counselor at Camp Nokomis (which proudly makes the wall at Camp), it's hard to pass up the nostalgia of these camp food themed dishes. The lobster corn dog (yeah, that's right. You heard me right) is a mouth watering fried confection that is as advertised (golden brown delicious). See pic. My hubs had the giant steak and loved the blue cheese mixed in with the potatoes. The ribs were more Korean style than fall off the bone Memphis style, but the BBQ sauce is kicking, so hats off. Oh, and our server and the manager who came to check in on us were friendly and genuine. Verdict? Come for the atmosphere, stay for the food. read more

I hate to do this because I've been a big fan of the Camp and have been there bunches of times. There was a 30 minute wait at Lago (another Common Man restaurant) so I called the Camp and they took us right away. I had never seen the Camp that slow, never, very few people for a Thursday night (and Lago was packed). My wife's fish and chips was pretty bad, she picked at it but the batter was hard as a rock. I had the lobster mac and cheese, which was good but I thought not enough lobster chunks, it seemed skimpy for the price $18.99 (and the price of lobster). We also waited much too long for 2nd round of drinks but the wait staff were friendly and cordial, as they typically are at any C-Man property. Unfortunately it may be a while before we return, but we will return. read more

Spent Saturday night eating at the camp with our youngest daughter. The wait was reasonable. Not our first time there. We requested to have a certain waitress. We were seated in a different section but we didn't say anything. Waitress was attentive. We ordered drinks and apps and everything arrived quickly. Our meals arrived in a timely manner. She did a great job. We had steak tips and grilled cheese with tomato soup and the burger. We'd have all the food again. Definitely will be back! read more

You used to be able to rely on the Common Man restaurants for consistently having great food and great service. Unfortunately, over the last couple of years, we've found that that is increasingly not the case. Last night was strike three for us at Camp. We never got our food. We waited over an hour. The other people that had arrived after us were getting their food, so they had clearly lost our order. I get it, it happens. The real problem was that even after we inquired about it, what we got was largely radio silence. After waiting another 15 min and still no food, we left. Do yourself a favor. Go to Giuseppe's instead. It's a stone's throw away, better selection, better food, and outstanding service. We walked there after leaving camp and ended up having a great dinner. Hopefully Camp and the Common Man restaurants overall can get their act together. For now, we're branching out. read more

I went to Camp twice this past weekend, couldn't get enough! The front host was so friendly even on a very busy Friday night and was very accommodating getting us on the waitlist and getting us a table when we got there a bit early. The waitresses/waiters were so friendly as well, was nice to have great service when it seemed like every other restaurant this past weekend was unfriendly, not accommodating, and had poor service. I had been dying to go to this restaurant for years after I saw it on a Phantom Gourmet episode. I love the idea of the "camp"-like theme and when I read the menu I was sold. It was a long drive from where we live, but we were feeling up to a trip. Once you enter downtown Meredith it feels like you're in a real beach town, almost like you've entered a scene on Dawson's Creek; so cute! The restaurant is in a hotel, so it was a little difficult to spot at first but it's right across from Lake Winnipesaukee and you can see it from the windows. The inside is woodsy and warm. It's not huge, but that's a part of its charm. Everything is logs and lantern-like light. There is a massive, complimentary cheese wheel you can cut alongside a mix of crackers to munch on while waiting for your meals. They have a very decent beer list and they make fantastic cocktails; I sipped on two "antioxidant" (healthy drinking, right?) sangrias. The skillet-prepared gravy and cheese covered fries were to die for. I try my best to not fill up on apps, but this stuff was ADDICTING; the best fry gravy I have had in years, and the cheese stayed hot and gooey. They have starred menu items and I decided to go for one of those as my entree: the Atlantic salmon -- "Pan-seared salmon, served with a crisp ramen cake, raspberry wasabi mustard glaze and veggie slaw." This might be one of the best meals I have ever had. The raspberry wasabi really compliment the salmon, and it was so beautifully crusted. The ramen cake was unlike anything I have ever had; so unique, so tasty, and went with the salmon perfectly. It was truly a perfect dish. Even the bed of slaw was perfect. At this point in my meal I was wishing I had a stomach to fill, or I was at least regretting all those fries from my appetizer. I can't even believe this, but we also got dessert because, as I said to my family, "You can't go to camp and not have s'mores." So we got those even though we definitely didn't need them -- it was more of a staple, an unexplainable need. And they were great. I do wish they made their own graham crackers because I bet they'd do a fantastic job. I can't recommend this restaurant enough. Great, friendly, warm vibes. Terrific food. Beach-like-outdoor atmosphere. Two thumbs WAY up, for sure. read more

Worst bartender I have ever had. We sat at the empty bar for 10 minutes before she greeted us. Was rude the entire time while we were attempting to place an order, she might have been mad because she had to idea what she was doing on the pos system, who knows. I had a cup of there clam chowder, which has big chunks of clams and potatoes. Their menu is heavy on side of seafood, but the steak I had was tasty. But, I would say that the really reason to eat here, not to be missed is the desert. I would never, could never miss having the Dirty Snowball. Not for nothing but the only thing with flavor was the crackers and cheese. For the price of a dish (average is $15) the food was bland (as one would expect from a childhood camp). The children's meals were what we should have ordered for our adult meals seeing as the kids meals were more enjoyable. Own a lake house in Center Harbor NH and have been eating at the Camp for fourteen years. I have been trying like hell, Common Man, to still enjoy the Camp. Lori M, Jan 2018 post is spot on and quality of food is going downhill faaasssttt. I remember the days of quality Camp Steak and real good lobster Mac and cheese, not Spiny lobster on a skewer. Spot on review of the ribeye. Size of a hockey puck and I ordered mooing, get it....what I got was well done. I simply don't think they care after the remodel....shame. The Caesar salad was loaded with dressing so I could not finish it. I though the veggie burger would be on the side but they slapped it on top of the salad without a bun. Cheese and crackers were nice at the beginning. Staff was not nice and it took a long time for the food to come out on a very slow night. Kinda stuffy inside with depressing music.
