We arrived a little ahead of the lunch rush and yet somehow were the last table to receive food. The bartender was nice enough, but didn't space out her rounds well and that's how she ended up taking the orders of people who arrived 10+ minutes after us before she took ours. A burger is standard fare. Not sure how they can serve it without pickles, but I asked for pickles to be added. The bartender failed to mention there was a 50 cent charge. For pickles!! The French dip was lackluster and the fries served with the sandwich were over cooked. Typical dive bar atmosphere with lots of townies greeting each other. I'm sure if you are from the Lakes Region and this is the local watering hole, you'll acquire a taste for it. There are better dive bars around though. And those other locations won't freeze you out with max A/C when the outside temps aren't even in the 70s. It was warmer outside than in. read more

Was looking for a place for lunch on my B-Day. Drove past the Mug and thought "I haven't been there in decades". So I pulled in. It was a Friday mid-afternoon around 2pm. Only a few customers there. Mostly at the two bars. Very few customers having meals. It was raining outside so it was very chilly indoors, no hint of heat on at all. It took 15-20 minutes before the girl tending the back bar brought a menu, silverware, etc. I asked for just a couple minutes to look over the menu. Another 15-20 minutes before she came back (the bar only had a couple customers). I gave her my order and waited 20-30 minutes for a cheesesteak with fries. A couple of cooks kept coming out to get water from the bar and use the restroom. They looked like they were slammed with orders. As I already mentioned, there were only a couple customers having meals, maybe a half dozen. I don't get what the cooks were having such a problem with? My cheesesteak showed up finally. So disappointed. The roll was barely toasted, maybe for only 20 seconds. The meat was dry and tasteless, very bland. I was not offered any options when I ordered such as condiments, grilled onions or mushrooms, nothing. Anything would have improved that horrible thing! The thing was not even cut in half! That is standard for ANY sandwich in a restaurant. As I mentioned, it was cold in the restaurant and my meal was cold within minutes. Hadn't been there in years and years. Never going again and will let EVERYONE know of my experience. read more

Absolutely loved this place. Small, Quaint, great prices, great service and Delicious food. The Honey Barbecue chicken roll up was excellent. The best I have ever tasted. A friendly local watering hole with decent food and friendly service. Don't be put off by the outside appearance, it's actually very family friendly. Got antsy kids? There's plenty of room to run around and video games to play. There's two doors- one for the bar area, which includes a small bar and some tables including some high tops. The other door takes you to the main part of the restaurant which includes a large seating area. the back is near the pool tables and video games. I can vouch for the burgers, most subs and even the pizza is pretty good. The beer list is mostly regular draft beers and other choices in a bottle. I wish their classic beer mugs were a pint, but at least they usually come poured full. If you're looking for something more casual than most of what's in Meredith Center, this is a good option. read more

Not sure why this place has 3 stars, but definitely deserves at least a 4 or 5! Stopped in on a Sunday after Thanksgiving for dinner. Few locals at the bar, and football on. This was one of the most disgusting restaurants I've ever visited. I don't know whether the live bug on the plate or the rotten salsa was worse. Service was decent besides the hostess with her boobs out and the waiter was also bartending. The ambiance was atrocious seeing how all 6 chairs at my table were completely different. I also had the pleasure of viewing the ass crack of the patron playing pool 3 feet from my table. Been there many times and never disappointed. The Rheuben is awesome, and the steak and cheese bomb is my grandkids favorite. Have had the steak tips before, and the seafood baskets. Fries are good and hot as are the onion rings. I don't know where the people who wrote bad reviews ate, but I don't think it's the Mug I know! It's casual Loki but the service is great and the food is always reliable. My salad was excellent. Probably the best one I've had in upscale fancy restaurants as well. I came here with a few of my townie friends, so maybe that's why my experience was so great. Then again, I was with just one friend who isn't a regular when we arrived to meet our buddies. What we hasn't realized is that they don't open til 1130. The waitress came over and let us in at 1115. She was not super talkative, but accommodating. Once our regulars showed up, she opened right up and was a hoot! It's worth it to introduce yourself if you plan on coming back. My burger was delicious! On a ciabatta roll with bleu cheese and sauteed onions. I snarfed it. I've been back and had another sandwich- like a southwestern chicken something and it was also super fresh and yummy. A family favorite. 5 star review for the solo worker!! She seats you. Takes your order. Busses the tables and is the bartender 3 days a week, she keeps it moving, with a smile on her face. This lil joint was out spot for the bruins game and boy was it hopping with locals. The staff and host, especially our waitress (red blazen hair) were exceptionally welcoming and accommodating. Everyone was cheerful and the service was attentive even though it was a packed night and our gal was managing many large parties. She was a pro! huge brownie ice cream sunday and great beers! Visited here after a day at the lake with my husband and daughter. Nice little pub. Décor could use rearranging, food was great (hats off to the cooks), wait staff was absolutely horrid. I don't know where the owner finds these people but based on the reviews I would say he finds them on the streets. Our waitress was a complete scum bucket, never washed her hands, kept touching her face. went right up to my table with NO MASK, (I thought that was mandatory?), our table was sticky and full of crumbs and when I requested she wipe it down I was met with grumbling and tsks. None of the staff complied with Covid 19 safety regulations, nobody was wearing masks, not even the regulars. I requested dipping sauce for my daughters tenders from several waitresses, numerous times and was ignored. Our waitress never once checked on us after practically throwing the food on our table. Young girl, bad attitude. but I'm no Karen so I didn't make a scene although I badly wanted to take a step out back with her, she was rude to my child, obnoxious with me and flirtatious toward my husband. (He was not impressed sweetie, you aren't that cute) We left a tip. 5%. That's a kindness for the service we experienced. Find better wait staff and maybe we will return. Friendly enough wait staff. No real surprises as far menu options goes. Bit overpriced for just mediocre burgers IMO. I advice not to get "Specialty pizzas". Their suppose "large" sizes are the size of just a little bigger than a person pizza. Super small, hardly fills up one person. Sparse on the cheese and on the dry side, and twice already gotten wrong orders. Save your money there. Regular beer selections, no craft brews either. read more

A year or so ago, I went there with my parents during vacation. It looked nice and seemed like a sweet little pub. They sat us down. And that's when issues started. They let two, loud, obnoxious, offensive drunks swear at the top of their lungs in a "kid friendly" restaurant. So we try to enjoy nearly half an hour of waiting to get our food. Everything was terrible! If you feel like you need to empty your stomach out, eat the fish. It is a vile excuse of a meal. The chicken was overcooked and bland. At this point, when the waitress asked how it was, we were honest. BAD! After dinner though, those two sots decided it was the perfect time to anger my father. That was the only time I've had to restrain him, a veteran with patience. He could have called the police too, but decide that he didn't need to make law enforcement suffer with those sorry rejects. The owners just look at us and say sorry, and let the two sad wastes of skin drunks stay! Stay away from here! This place is a dump with trash sprinkled all over it! I mean it! Local spot wins me over as a fan. We just felt like pizza and a beer and while skeptical at first, happy we went to The Mug - we will be back. A [very] local watering hole with down to earth and very cordial service, a great menu, great for families, etc. I had once sworn off going to the Mug but it is back on the circuit, I recommend all that frequent Meredith to make it one of the stops. We ordered the Tomato & Basil pizza and quite frankly, it was GREAT! best pizza in Meredith! I could actually become a regular! read more

We've only had the fish, hamburgers and theCesar salad- all reasonably priced and pretty delicious. The waitress I had the last time I went here was absolutely terrible. Forgot her name but she was older with gray short hair. We were seated in the back part of the restaurant- which was our first mistake- it is a mini arcade and has a pool table. It was so loud and I could barley here my family as we chatted. I get that is family friendly but there is no need for it to be that loud. Secondly our waitress was more concerned about everything and everyone but us. She waited at least 20-25 minutes before even taking our drink order. What was the worst part was that she was attending everyone near us and fixing the pool table. The pool table! What about your customers? She also messed up my order- I asked for my burger cooked medium well- and it was cooked medium rare. Overall I was upset with the service and not sure if I will go back. read more

If you are considering visiting this place, DON'T! I went here a year ago and the service and food were excellent. Boy how things have changed in a year and not for the better. There were a few of us in our party. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with sweet potatoe fries. The other people in my party received their meal before me because I was told mine was made incorrectly. I got mine about 7-10 minutes after the rest of my party. The pretzel roll wasn't even warm let alone toasted and the pulled pork was beyond greasy and not in a good way. We also has a fish platter at the table and a burger. The fish platter tasted like old freezer fish despite being fried. All of our table ordered French fries and they were all cold. Our server never checked on us once throughout our whole meal. When it came time to get our check she avoided our table like the plague. I have never seen anything like it. My son actually had to leave the restaurant, he is only 2, because he has medical issues and was having a hard time. My mom took him out to our car while my father and I waited for the horrible waitress to finally acknowledge our existence. Another 10 minutes went by and still nothing. I finally said something to another waitress about the fact that my son had medical problems and if she could please talk to our waitress and ask her for the check. She went about her business with her tables and said nothing to our waitress. I waited another 5-7 minutes and then had to leave to go out and check on my son. My father waited another 10 minutes before going up to the front area and practically had to beg to pay the check. We were all disgusted by how bad the device was but that was not the end of this horrible experience. Within 15 minutes of getting home from eating there all 3 of us felt horribly sick to our stomach. I can't stress this enough, DO NOT EAT HERE, YOU WILL REGRET IT. I KNOW WE DID! read more

One of the first places my family and I stopped into during our vacation in New Hampshire. There were 6 of us in our party. As we walked in, I noticed there were a few patrons enjoying brews at the bar, all the waitresses and bartenders were behind the bar (which is in clear view of the entrance) just talking to one another. Not one server greeted us. We weren't sure if we should seat ourselves or what. Finally after literally standing by the door for 5 minutes, a waitress seated us and gave us menus and took drink orders. She was not very friendly and I immediately got the feeling that we were an inconvenience to her. I stayed polite so we wouldn't get any boogers in our food. Upon reading the menu, there was a little paragraph about how all the patrons that come in are considered family and that they take pride in being a neighborhood and friendly bar. Lies! We then placed our food orders...most of us got burgers. Their menu items were pretty cool, having a lot of options that people who frequented that bar came up with. I got the burger with the roast beef..it was huge and tasted so delicious! Never had anything like it. Brother got a bison burger which he devoured in minutes. My son got a cheese pizza which sent him to the bathroom 4 times in the hour and a half we were there which forced me to discard those leftovers immediately. My aunt got the meatloaf in which she had no complaints. While eating, we noticed the dining area started to fill up pretty quickly with what seemed to be regulars for their trivia night. It irked me to see how friendly and outgoing our server was with every single person she knew around us but once touching base with our table, her smile would magically disappear again. I give this place 3 stars simply because the food was great! (Stay away from pizzas). But beware of the service if you're not a regular at this place. read more

Different location from my previous review, thus the comment about it not being a quiet place does not apply. The place is larger and more comfortable, but it was a ghost town when we visited. We were the only customers. Burgers are still good but the seafood sucks. Can't put it any plainer than that. Heavy, thick, greasy and HARD batter on the seafood hides the fact that the actual seafood pieces are very small. Tiny scallops, tiny shrimp, very thin fish. Not worth ordering let alone eating. If you want something other than burgers or minimally topped pizza, go elsewhere. Both the regular and sweet potato fries were flavorless. The coleslaw was roughly chopped cabbage that was difficult to eat because the pieces were so large. Finally, they apparently make their own cocktail sauce and then refrigerate it, which causes it to gel, making it impossible to dip any seafood into even if you do make the mistake of ordering the fishermans platter. I was bored one evening and wanted to grab a beer and a burger with some friends I was with so I stopped here. I ended up getting fish and chips instead, and in my own opinion, that is a meal which is hard to muck up. The meal and the beer itself were very reasonably priced and delicious, and it had a feeling like most of the people were regulars by how friendly people were towards each other. We came in the service was good they seemed busy so I thought wow the comment cards were working. When I opened the menu I found so many choices I was surprised and excited. Like heaven open the doors and heard my thoughts. Good service and great food. Genius! Then comes April I was doing some work on the house and decide to head over after a long day. Sat at the bar and bartender was friendly and helpful. Ordered a pizza it took 35 minutes and it came out with onions when I asked for NO onions. Hello it's not hard. After another 20 minutes I had my meal. Thank god I was dying. So now I was like maybe this is the wrong choice. But Paul the owner told me it was the new kitchen staff. Ok fine one more chance. On this day may 20th. I realized no menu can overcome awful awful service. First it seemed like we were imposing by walking in. Second we waited 5 minutes for a menu. I actually asked if we had to grab our own. The bar had 6 maybe 7 pardons and the tables had maybe 4 or 5 with people sitting. With 3 waitresses working the plenty of help. We ordered BBQ wings, the menu stated served with bleu cheese and celery. Our entrees were fried haddock with waffle fries and a chicken salad. How can you screw that up. Well the mug strikes again. First the wings came out with no bleu cheese and celery we asked for them. Their comment was they don't come with it. Ok well the menu said different. After we ate half the plate we had to ask again. Then when the food came out the Salad looked great. Wow" score 1. the fried fish had no waffle fries. Also i was informed that I am due another piece of fish because one fell off the plate and the coleslaw was brown. I Asked for my fries and the bleu cheese and the server looked at me like I was disrupting her. Hello it's your job to make sure the paying customer is served correctly and happy. If you don't want to serve people find a new job. Finally got my fries and put ketchup on them guess what it was awful like sore tasting. Well the owner loves golf so it's no wonder his restaurant scores a hole in 1. Visitors and locals stay away. This place is not consistent and it really could be a great place. read more

I've gotten take out here once and am sure we will not be going back. Sorry to say, but I may have had the worst sandwich of my life here. I often get a greek salad wrap with chicken at the other location (on the Bay) and they are fairly consistent and good - but they were closed one day so I ordered here. What a mistake - you know when you buy boneless chicken and there are those flaps of gristle and fat pieces you cut off? Swear they actually cooked these up for this sandwich - the first few bites I took I just figured I got unlucky with a couple hard, gristle-y pieces. Nope, EVERY piece of chicken was inedible. I removed them, and then less than halfway through my wrap, I tossed it I was so grossed out. $9 I paid for a sandwich that ended up in the trash. Not good. read more
