From the moment we arrived, the hostesses were warm and accommodating, and the service throughout the meal was attentive without ever feeling intrusive. As someone with gluten allergies, I felt genuinely cared for. The team listened closely and offered recommendations that never felt like a compromise on flavor or creativity. We began with a dirty chai latte, aromatic and comforting, though I personally would have enjoyed a touch more sweetness. The dirty French, customized gluten free, was rich, decadent and deeply satisfying. It felt indulgent in the best way and showcased the kitchen's ability to balance comfort with culinary intention. To go, we ordered the crunchy chicken nuggets, fries and lemon ricotta pancakes. The fries were outstanding, perfectly crisp and addictive. My husband loved the pancakes, light and flavorful with a bright citrus note. The gluten free nuggets were enjoyable, though they did not quite reach the level I expected compared to the rest of the menu. Overall, Sacred Beast offers a dining experience where hospitality and thoughtful cooking meet effortlessly. It is a place that respects dietary needs without sacrificing taste or creativity, and one I would gladly return to.

I was greeted at the door with a small menu to precede the course themes and a glass of delicious sparkling wine. The restaurant was very warm, welcoming, and artistic. The mushrooms on the wall were stunning, and the themed pictures throughout gave it a down to earth feel. Everyone was so kind and the service was impeccable. I started the meal with a hot towel to clean my hands - it was this moment I knew I came for a treat. Each course was brought out in a timely manner, and explained thoroughly. The food was beautiful, complex, flavorful, and hearty. Each dish was crafted so meticulously. I could taste the passion for their craft with each bite. The drinks were also made perfectly. Overall, this was right in line with many Michelin starred restaurants I have dined in. I can't wait to come back and try the dining room menu. I hope that our city can support this restaurant and they will stay for a while. I'd love to come back for the chef's experience again when they seasonally change their menu. The bar scene itself was very boring, honestly one of the least interesting bar dining experiences I've had in a while. The food was mediocre and not memorable. The only dish I clearly remember, and probably the only one I would order again, was the watermelon salad. Everything else was fine at best, but nothing stood out or made me want to come back. I'm honestly surprised this restaurant is getting James Beard recognition. There are so many better places in the area, such as Colette, Baker's Table, and most notably Grist in Dayton, that feel far more deserving and seem to be overlooked. It makes me wonder if Wildweed has some kind of connection or ownership that helps it get more attention, because based on this visit, I don't see it.

Once we were all in our places with bright shiny faces, we all ordered the thanksgiving special meal. It included just about everything you can imagine being served at Thanksgiving. Three pieces of white meat turkey, which was pretty tender. I small pile of dark meat pieces. Mashed potatoes and gravy, with the gravy covering the turkey and the potatoes. There was dressing, sweet potato casserole (?), green beans and cranberry sauce. It was a LOT of tasty food. Nothing was extraordinary, but it was all good. Oh, we ordered and I swear to goodness the food arrived moments later. I am sure they were moving a lot of these plates and had a process for quick turnaround, but I had to wonder if our plates had been sitting for a while. I suppose if they were it wasn't for long. Nothing was cold or congealed. It seems like their process was working. The meal came with a mini cake type thing in a jar. There were lots of options. Mark and I opted for the special pumpkin with ginger and Jen had s'mores chocolate. The pumpkin one was absolutely delicious. Jen let us try the chocolate one and let's just say I was very glad I opted for pumpkin. When the bill arrived the desserts were added on separately. I mentioned they should be included to our server, who said he would check. Now... it seems unlikely we were his first customers of the day and it seems odd that he would have the desserts added separately. He did check; I saw him. I also saw the person he was checking with shake her head 'yes'. He reran the checks without the desserts. I will say it was nice to have a traditional thanksgiving meal without the traditional thanksgiving fuss. Because the food was average at best and because we were initially charged for desserts that were supposed to be included in the price, this experience comes in with a solid three stars.

    1. Parmesan-Crusted Pork Chop This plate came out looking…read moreserious. The pork chops had that golden, crunchy sear that lets you know the chef didn't cheat the pan. The crust is seasoned well, giving each bite a savory crunch before you hit the juicy center. The sauce on the bottom adds flavor but also runs a little thin, so it doesn't cling as much as you'd expect. The mashed potatoes are smooth, and those crispy fried onions on top add the right texture. Solid, comforting, and flavorful -- just needed a thicker reduction to tighten the plate. 2. Gnocchi with Braised Short Rib Sauce This dish is exactly what comfort food wants to be when it grows up. The gnocchi is soft, pillowy, and coated in a rich, slow-simmered sauce that tastes like somebody took their time building layers. You get a blend of tomato, parmesan, herbs, and that short rib flavor that carries the whole bowl. It's heavy -- in a good way -- and every bite feels like fall weather in a bowl. Definitely one of the stronger dishes. 3. Parmesan-Crusted Chicken with Green Beans & Tomato Relish The chicken is fried to that perfect "crisp but not greasy" level. The parmesan crust gives it a nutty, salty pop, while the tomato pieces add freshness to cut through the richness. The shredded parmesan on top melts just enough to tie everything together. The green beans are cooked right -- not soggy, still with a snap. The side dish (mac & cheese, most likely) is creamy with a buttery breadcrumb top that adds the right crunch. Overall, a well-balanced plate. 4. Spaghetti & Meatballs This is classic Italian comfort done the Cooper's Hawk way. The sauce is thick, tangy, and bright with tomato flavor. The meatballs are tender and seasoned well, and the touch of ricotta on top softens the acidity and makes the sauce creamy as you mix it in. The pasta is cooked right -- not mushy, not stiff, easy to twirl. Simple, hearty, and dependable. Overall Impression Cooper's Hawk came through with a table full of comfort and richness. Everything was plated well, seasoned properly, and cooked with intention. The standout dishes are the gnocchi and the parmesan-crusted chicken, but nothing on the table missed the mark.

We tried the Grilled Mahi sandwich ($17.99) and the Soup & Sandwich combo ($19.99). A glass of wine was $11 and a soft drink was $4.99. $70 with tax and tip. The term "upscale" seems to have become a euphemism for "more expensive than you thought it was going to be". I rated it 3 stars for several reasons. First, the food tasted very salty, almost to the point of us sending it back but we didn't because we had been waiting almost 30 minutes and were hungry. The slow service was reason two. Reason three was the price point. Five bucks for a coke? Twenty bucks for a soup and sandwich? The food was OK but the value just wasn't there. And reason four was the noise level. It was so loud I couldn't take an incoming cell phone call. Having said all that, they didn't seem to be hurting for business on a Friday afternoon so all I can say is it seems there are a lot of people out there who really like the place. If you're one of them, I think you'll find this Coopers Hawk a great place for lunch or dinner.

The space is open, bright and well decorated making it very inviting for brunch. You order at the counter from the menus placed along the wall then food is delivered to your table. The various brunch items all sounded very inviting so I was having trouble deciding what to order. So I got a recommendation to try the Shakshuka. Not sure how to pronounce it but when it arrived it was just the right portion and quite tasty for brunch. It's a bowl with a red pepper sauce and feta cheese and kale along with eggs sunny side up. The dish is served with pita so you can do a little bit of dipping in the tasty sauce. To accompany our food we selected the mimosa service and bloody mary pitcher. A pitcher is just perfect for sharing. And the mimosa service was delightful. The server arrived with a bottle of Prosecco and small carafes of orange, grapefruit and blood orange juices to mix yourself. The food was fresh and tasty with prompt delivery of our food to our table. Not quite a full service restaurant since you have to order at the counter but still a nice experience located downtown.

My friend and I split the house salad and WOW. A complete showstopper. So fresh, the vinaigrette was bright and delightful, and those fresh bacon bits? Chef's kiss. It's rare that a house salad stands out like that, but this one absolutely did. Now let's talk about the prime rib. I typically do not like steak or prime rib... but our waitress recommended it as the best thing on the menu, and honestly the Yelp photos had already convinced me. When I tell you it was BOMB -- I mean it. So tender. So flavorful. Perfectly cooked. Paired with broccolini and mashed potatoes, it was a whole experience.
