I ordered the egg plant Parmesan. It arrived cold and bread looked like as if it had been frozen. The mushrooms that were sparely thrown on top were canned mushrooms that were not heated. Very little if any cheese or tomato sauce. Reluctantly I sent the dish back to the kitchen to warm it up. It came back burned on one side of one piece and both sides on the another piece. Staff does not seem concerned about the quality and service is average. A very disappointing dinner. read more

Located in the Marriot Kingsgate hotel. The food is very tasty and also reasonably priced for a hotel restaurant. If you're in the military they also offer a 15% discount. I ate here virtually every day for two weeks while in Cincy for work, so I have sampled most of the menu. My favorite was the prime rib (pictured) with mixed veggies and potatoes. It has a smoky flavor and is fall-off-the-bone tender. Their pulled pork sandwich and burgers are also quite good, if you prefer cheaper options. I had breakfast here one morning - ordered a Western omelette - with mushrooms and spinach added, plus a side of bacon and berries (Blueberries, Red Raspberries, Black Raspberries), and a cup of coffee and a glass of V-8 juice. They also have a buffet if you don't want to order from the menu. Food came up in a short amount of time. The omelette was well made and tasty. I requested and received some hot sauce to add some zip to my omelette. Service was excellent. read more

Nice place for a business lunch. The food is pretty good. I had the buffet ($15, worth it) and sampled almost every item. The turkey was really moist and complimented well with cranberry (must be Thanksgiving leftovers), the hummus was good, the salad with chicken was also nice. I was bummed to not see any pita for the hummus so regular bread served in its place. The BBQ sliders were also good. There was fruit available including pineapple, yeah! For dessert I had some more cranberry mixed into a very tasty apple pie/crisp thing. Service was fine, nothing above average, but attentive. There is a bar but it did not seem to be open at the time. A large TV was on the wall and fortunately it was turned off. Parking around here is very tricky, the only easy option is parking in the garage of the hotel. I have no idea about rates. If you are using the UC shuttle, it will drop you off right outside the Marriott. read more

You know what, this place is just fine. I've always had good food when I stay here. I don't know why because the hotel's food is trerrrererrible, but this place is decent. In particular, I ordered a side of quinoa just for some extra nutrition with my dinner and it was delicious. That's weird, lol. Quinoa isn't supposed to be delicious, just good for you. The service is slow, which keeps me from eating there every night I stay (I'm pretty lazy, but not made of time). But whoever is in that kitchen back there knows what they're doing. Also, THE FRIES. Holy moly. Just get some fries at least. read more

This restaurants was very clean( and very empty ) during lunch time. The food options are limited but there were alot of good dishes. The salmon burgers and grilled cheese both looked great, I would recommend them. The french fries are extremely salty..I couldn't eat them at all. The beef tenderloin was really good aside from the salty arugula on top ( also extremely salty). Please taste the food and be conscious of how much salt you are putting on, the food would have been great otherwise. read more

I have been here for breakfast and lunch many times and have had a great experience each time. I would definitely recommend the buffet- I have never ordered from the menu! The buffet usually offers fresh fruit, salads, and pasta salad type sides along with a bar (burger, pizza, etc) and hot home style dishes like roasts, pastas, and cobblers. Soup and sides like hummus and artichoke dip are also generally available. In my experience the dishes have been fresh, flavorful, and plentiful. Located at the Kingsgate Marriott in Cincinnati, Caminetto is a large and open restaurant with a fairly conservative interior. There is a broad outdoor patio overlooking a clean field, a large and rather modern fountain, and the interesting architecture of the Vontz Center for Molecular Studies. The restaurant was quiet on my visit both indoors and out but doesn't emote intimacy. While I doubt I would bring a date here, I would say it's an idea location for a pleasant chat with friends or conducting business. As for the food, I have no doubts about the quality. My friend and I started with the antipasti platter which we shared. It was a butcher block upon which was: a cheese trio of herbed Boursin, Derbyshire Cheddar with Sage, and wedge of Manchego; a meat selection of hot capicola, sorpessata, and (I believe) a hard salami; a small crock of olives with a pair of pickles alongside; a small pot of fig jam; and a few bread points. Across the board I would say it was good but mild. Even the Derbyshire and sorpessata weren't strong, although the capicola had a good, spicy finish. The Manchego would benefit from some additional aging, but was o.k. The fig jam was a delight, the olives great, and the pickles a solid offering. (They seemed to be homemade). They were out of both our initial orders of smoked prime rib and roast chicken. My friend had been waffling between the prime rib and the butcher block pizza and opted for the latter. The waitress told me they could substitute the smoked chicken that was on the room service menu for the roast chicken on the restaurant menu, and I said that would be fine. It wound up being a great decision. I received a half of a plump chicken, smoked in house with taut, crispy skin evenly colored a rich and dark sienna-brown from the smoke. The flesh beneath was moist and tender with just the right amount of smoke - enough to taste it, but not to overwhelm the chicken flavor or tire out the palate too quickly. The asparagus served alongside was crisp-tender with no trace of overcooking or the stringy fibers that sometimes mar that vegetable. Roasted red fingerling potatoes rounded out the plate, topped with a small amount of Parmesan cream sauce that (again) had enough to let you know it was there but still taste the potato. All around, the main course was excellent. In fact, after I took my first bite of the chicken I was glad they were out of the roast chicken I had initially wanted. My friend declared his pizza good but I found it to be merely decent*. The butcher block pizza had a wide variety of meats in a pretty solid layer across the top. While the pie was cooked well (I'm pretty sure in a wood oven, as it was in that style), I thought the amount of cured meats overwhelmed the cheese, sauce and crust with saltiness. It was all right, but nothing I would order. We saw a few other entrees come out, including a pair of steaks, and they all looked wonderful. We passed on cocktails, and no dessert either as we were quite full. I couldn't finish my chicken leg. Service was attentive and pleasant. Note that it was a quiet night and they were not very busy, so I cannot assess how well they handle being busy. However, I'm fairly sure I will be back there sometime soon as business takes me to Cincinnati relatively frequently. Pricing was outstanding, yet wide ranging. The menu was fairly small. The Bearcat Lounge adjacent to Caminetto (and also in the hotel) has different menu items and different prices, but are made in the same kitchen. Same goes for the room service menu. I recommend Caminetto. My meal was quite delicious and relatively inexpensive with good service. *An aside about my pizza philosophy: I feel it wise to mention I am of the opinion that you should have no more than three toppings on a pizza, and only one of them should be a meat. Why? #1: This keeps things balanced in flavor. The pizza doesn't become one-dimensional or overwhelming, as it did here. #2: Ingredients are still able to shine despite that balance. Good toppings complement and enhance each other, such as the banana peppers and Italian sausage on the signature 'Roman Candle' pizza at Roman Candle Pizzeria in Wisconsin. #3: You get better value for your money. Once you get about 3 toppings, you're not getting any more actual toppings. They have simply run out of room on top, and you are only getting variety. Your mileage may vary, but it's important to know that I grade pizza in this manner. read more

I had an average lunch at Caminetto with coworkers this past week. When we arrived, the garages were blocked off for a special event going on in the hotel's larger conference room. Even as patrons of their in-house restaurant, we were told to park at Eden Garage and walk. While I have no problem with walking, I thought it was rather unprofessional to close the entire garage to customers of the hotel/their restaurant who were not associated with this special event. Once inside, we were seated quickly and ordered, but our server seemed to forget about one of the meals. When repeatedly questioned about where the dish was, she responded by telling us it was "in the kitchen", but would continue to take care of other tables versus going and getting the dish to bring out. We ended up waiting an additional ten minutes for our server to bring out the food. Overall the food was good, but nothing spectacular. The dishes are things you could easily find at other restaurants/hotels with better service. read more

This post is for the Bearcat Lounge --- the little bar area in the Kingsgate Marriott. I work right near the Bearcat Lounge and have been in the hotel on several occaisions, but had never eaten there. I met several friends and co-workers there one night after working an event together. The server was not great; was not very attentive or friendly, but I guess he got the job done. It was a good atmopshere and they have a nice outdoor patio (great for a warm summer night). We ordered a few drinks and several appetizers and the food did not disappoint. It was a very low-key place, but was good for conversation and for gathering with friends. read more

I travel alot for business and it is great to find a place to have an awesome relaxing dinner. I started with the Anti pasta Platter. It was much larger than I expected. It had plenty of great meats and cheese. The asparagus was great. I had the Pan-Seared Scallops for dinner. I love scallops and I order them out alot and this was at the top of my list. The lunch buffet and dinner buffet are as equally as impressive. Not to mention the seasonal dinner menu, which is very underrated. My family and I had dinner here. The dinner was great. But if you think the breakfast buffet is all that, you are better off going some where else to have breakfast. We all had the biscuits & gravy and it was the worst I ever ate. The scrambled eggs were nasty. If you go here, go straight to the omelette (cooked to order) and The fruit is fresh & good. We paid well over $50 for 3 people and it was not worth the money... For are just an omelette and fruit. read more
