I actually drove from Roseville to try this place out b/c I LOVE Italian & this place had such glowing reviews (the made-from-scratch pasta being a big draw also). Arrived on a Wednesday evening at just before 6pm & only waited about 10 mins for a spot to open up inside (they do have outdoor seating as well). Waitress quickly stopped by, dropped off some focaccia bread & asked what I'd like to drink. After that...I waited. Make sure you have plenty of time to kill by the way, b/c the service here is on the slower side. My wine finally arrived about 15 mins later & I was asked what I'd like to eat. Inquired about the pear + cheese ravioli & was told that it was on the "sweeter" side, but also that it was popular & I would actually be getting the last order of it for the night. Decided to go for it. Funny enough, the food came out way faster than my glass of wine did. Here is where the real problem began though. The ravioli was undercooked & difficult to chew. Not al dente. The filling itself was definitely on the sweeter side, but outside of that, it was bland. The brown butter sage sauce didn't add much to it at all & I ended up having to rely heavily on the salt/pepper that were already placed on the table. Overall, this wasn't something worth driving 45 mins for, but now I know for sure. At least the bread was good...lol.

We were quickly given water and a basket of bread with whipped butter, which was yum! We ordered bruschetta and calamari for appetizers. I enjoyed the calamari the most. Other dishes ordered at our table were the rigatoni and meatballs, gnocchi, and chicken Parmesan. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food and the portions are huge! Palermo doesn't look like much from the outside, but you can feel the love that went into this place on the inside. From being greeted by the Sicilian owner at the front to the super friendly servers and other staff, you just feel so welcome from the start. There is a full cocktail menu and full service bar to star things off, and a few house specials. I got the West Coast Colada, which is a very pineapple-forward, simple rum cocktail without the coconut side of the class drink. It was lovely, if not a little on the weak side alcohol wise. Every dish we ordered was fantastic (shout out to the minestrone soup), but the star of the show was the lasagna. I was wondering why the lasagna was a $45 dish until i saw it delivered to nearby tables and my mouth dropped. This single slice of lasagna could feed 4 people (or more) and consists of a couple DOZEN layers of noodles. It was the best, and biggest lasagnas I've ever had, and I'm still eating it 4 days later! The desserts were also absolutely delicious, with a very creamy take on tiramisu, and a very well-named "temptation" chocolate cake. The cherry on top of dessert was when the owner came and chatted with us about the origins of the lasagna and the restaurant. Just a lovely Italian man with a passion for food that somehow landed him in Elk Grove of all places! We will absolutely be returning. I mean heck, $45 for a week's worth of delicious lasagna ain't a bad deal!

In all my years of waitressing and working in an Italian restaurant, I would never have thought it…read morewas acceptable to serve food in that condition. A proper sear adds flavor, but actual char is bitter and completely overpowers the Marsala wine and mushrooms. Large areas of burnt crust aren't just a cosmetic issue--they ruin the dish and should be replaced, not served to a customer. What made it even more disappointing was that I was expecting a fine dining experience. Instead, I've honestly received better food quality and service at much more casual restaurants. Everyone else at my table enjoyed their meals, so unfortunately I seem to have been the exception, but that doesn't make it acceptable. I left feeling frustrated and confused as to how this plate ever made it out of the kitchen. Thank you for your response. I understand restaurants appreciate the opportunity to correct issues while customers are still there. My concern wasn't that the chicken had "grill marks" or that I didn't understand what Chicken Marsala is. The sauce and mushrooms covered the chicken, so I didn't realize how badly it was burnt until I had already taken several bites. Once I moved the sauce aside, I found it was charred to the point that it tasted burnt and was inedible, which is why I left the meal exactly as shown in my photo. I left because I was disappointed, not because I wanted to leave a negative review. Calling me a "keyboard warrior" instead of addressing the condition of the food or why it even came out of the kitchen in that condition in the first place only reinforces why I felt compelled to share my experience at your establishment.

Nice lady and was there when you needed her to be. I got the Pasta Milano and loved it. Alot of sauce which I enjoy. It has pepper flakes and tends to be a little hot. I had the split pea soup for a starter, and it was good. My wife had a side salad and enjoyed it. Clean place, pleasant atmosphere. Can't wait to go back.

The inside had lots of tables and booths, plus a bar area and outdoor seating. I liked being able to see the pizzas cooked in the big wood burning oven as well. My friend and I split the Lemon Pistachio Linguine - splitting it was the perfect amount of food. It also came with a huge slice of garlic bread. All of the food was really good - I liked the melted cheese on the Bruschetta and the pasta was perfectly seasoned. Our server was also very friendly, attentive and gave great recommendations - we appreciated her telling us that they could split the pasta in half when we told her we were sharing. The food was incredibly bland and didn't taste like authentic Italian cuisine at all. The trio plate was especially disappointing. The Alfredo had almost no sauce and absolutely no flavor, and the pesto tasted like it came straight from a jar. Overall, everything was just mediocre and lacked the rich, fresh flavors you'd expect from an Italian restaurant. The service was painfully slow throughout the meal, and to make matters worse, there wasn't any wine, beer, or other alcohol available, which was surprising for an Italian restaurant. The dining room was also uncomfortably hot. It appears they only use wall-mounted air conditioning units, and they weren't keeping up, making it difficult to enjoy the meal. The only reason I'm giving this an extra star is because the green beans served with the chicken Marsala were actually pretty good. Unfortunately, one good side dish wasn't enough to make up for the long wait, bland food, slow service, and uncomfortable atmosphere. I won't be returning.
