Creamy Pesto and Garlic Rigatoni (Take-Out)
Tiffany D.

If you know me then you know that I love Italian food and I'm also a sucker for ravioli. I came across this place a while ago while passing through the area and so glad that I did. Pastosa By Lucia is a small family run Italian restaurant in an unassuming part of Galt. It's located in an industrial area almost tucked away and can easily be missed but should not be. They have been serving up homemade pasta, bread, sauces and desserts for a few years now and they recently made Yelp's Best New Restaurants of 2025 list. The interior is very welcoming and gives you that home feeling. The staff here are very friendly and open to offering their suggestions or what dishes are popular. The menu is a nice size, they offer about 12 different varieties of homemade ravioli as well as other homemade pastas, focaccia, soups, various appetizers and yummy desserts. Their roasted chicken ravioli in pink sauce is very good and quite flavorful. My recent go to is the rigatoni with the creamy pesto and garlic sauce. The noodles are cooked al dente and the two sauces paired extremely well together and with the pasta. I have been looking for a good pesto pasta and I definitely have found it. However, they do have several other sauces that I would love to try such as the Red Velvet (Tomato, fresh basil, olive oil) and Calabrese (Tomato, angus beef, homemade sausage) as those are some of their most popular sauces. I also want to work my way through their various ravioli, the Beef Tenderloin ravioli as well as the Bacon Cheeseburger ravioli are next on my list. Along with the yummy pastas I really love their homemade focaccia, it's soft on the inside while having a little crisp on the outside and has the perfect amount of oil and rosemary. One of the better focaccia breads that I have had. Their butter pecan cheesecake is also to die for, a must try!! Overall, this is a must try place when in the Galt area or if you're not in the area it's worth a little road trip to try. Such an amazing Italian restaurant serving up some of the best pasta that I've had and the fact that everything is made in house is even better.

Saturday, October 11, 2025 / About 1PM Like others have previously commented, this place is a hidden gem on the backroads of Galt, CA. A friend who had been there before suggested the place, but I had my doubts that an any restaurant in Galt, (no offense to Galt) located in an industrial area, could offer delicious Italian food. I was wrong. Ordered the, "Crazy Lasagna" and it was absolutely yummy. Filled with sausage, salami & pepperoni, packed between tender layers of pasta, drenched in a finely crafted savory tomato sauce, this is a signature offering. Also, the volume of the food was quite plentiful, and my companions could not finish their orders and all needed take-home boxes. I completely devoured my order, since it was so tasty. Price is quite reasonable as well. The meal also came with a salad and a generous helping of homemade bread. (I used some of the bread to soak up all the remaining pasta sauce on my plate.) Found the staff to be very friendly. (I asked for some Tabasco sauce, since I like peppery flavored tomato paste, and the chef prepared a little spicy side sauce for me, which totally complimented the flavor, at no extra charge or extra attitude.) The restaurant atmosphere has a pleasant, locally owned and operated feeling, offering both indoor and outdoor seating. So if you're passing through Galt on Highway 99, and are in the mood for some wonderful Italian food, this restaurant is a must visit.

What a hidden gem! Pastosa by Lucia is tucked away in the industrial part of Galt, and at first the location and industrial vibe might throw you off, but trust me--the food makes it all worth it. We started with the fried zucchini, which was surprisingly well-seasoned and perfectly crunchy. The meatball appetizer was also really good--tender, flavorful, and comforting. The salad with their house-made dressing was fresh and delicious, and the focaccia bread deserves its own shout-out--so moist, fluffy, and just plain addictive. For pasta, we tried four different raviolis: butternut squash, mushroom, sausage, and artichoke heart, each with a different sauce (pink, brown butter sage, red velvet, and Calabrese). All of them were flavorful and well done, but the brown butter sage sauce stole the show--it was easily my favorite pairing of the night. We ended on a sweet note with their limoncello tiramisu, which was light, refreshing, and the perfect finish. On top of all that, the owners are so nice and clearly passionate about what they do, and the staff was super friendly and efficient. It really makes the whole experience warm and welcoming. Special shout-outs: Blushing Sprig provided the floral décor, which was so pretty and added to the vibe, and Clarity Crafted brought in custom rubber stamps for decorating, which was such a fun and unique touch. If you're looking for great Italian food in an unexpected location, this is the place. Definitely worth the trip to Galt

Outdoor dining

Food had an abundance of flavor. Some of the best places are found in the most interesting places. Plenty of outdoor dining with overhead lights. The outdoor area is surrounded by trees and plants to give it privacy as well as a garden feel. You can pair several sauces with various pastas. Your dish is served with a salad or soup plus you start off with a dish of warm focaccia bread. We dipped our bread in mixture of olive oil and the best balsamic I've tasted in a while. The service is impeccable, talk about customer first. You can sample the wine before you commit. They are extremely helpful with choice and food accommodations. We had their house wine which hit every note in my playbook. Don't forget dessert and ask for Deja she knows her stuff. The customer service, hometown welcome and noshing on the focaccia bread would bring me back again.

This is one of our favorite places but you still have to work for it. I was disappointed this night. I got the minestrone soup and it was only warm. Come on I want my soup hot. Then I got the crazy lasagna and it was only warm to. I didn't say anything since I was really hungry but not happy. There were new employees to so maybe it's that. Not sure but you guys need to get them in order and back to great food. I didn't see our regular lady , I forgot her name but she wasn't there and not cooking either. Hopefully they fix their problems and get them trained correctly.

What a gem! My husband and I came here for a late lunch. Our server was courteous and patient. We ordered ravioli, beef for me and spicy sausage for him. We also shared the fried zucchini and the Cabernet Sauvignon. The food is very tasty and portions are generous. The wine went very well with my beef ravioli. The restaurant itself is in a small plaza. It was really cold that day but I can see us going there next time to enjoy eating outside.

Today was the second time we have been to Pastosa and as before it was INCREDIBLE! My hubby ordered the beef ravioli with creamy pesto sauce and he said it was definitely 5s. I ordered the lasagna and let me tell you, it is the freshest, most delicious meat lasagna you will ever taste. It's like you can taste each individual fresh ingredient and it melds together in a beautiful way. The dinner came with focaccia bread which was delicious (you can ask for more) and a small house salad. The location is hidden, so it's not in a hot local area, but don't let that discourage you. They also offer seating outside on a small patio when it's warmer.

Cook at home rigatoni (fresh pasta), roasted chicken ravioli snd artichoke ravioli.

We ordered the family pack pasta that comes uncooked since we didn't want to fight the crowds for Valentines. We ordered the rigatoni with the Calabrian sauce. Omg it was delicious. I also got the cook at home roasted chicken ravioli and artichoke ravioli and got creamy pesto sauce to go with it. Everything turned out amazing. The meal came with focaccia bread and salad. We are definitely going to go here again.

Easy 5 stars people! The food was amazing enough that I wouldn't consider giving it anything other than 5 stars. Tip: you can mix any of the sauces Our waitress recommended the first two sauces: the pink sauce and Calabrese together with the cheese ravioli. However we did end up waiting about 45 min for a table because they don't take reservations and they got two large tables before us. We got there before 5pm and place was packed. The place is small so no where out of the way to even stand and wait. We ended up getting water and bread outside in the 102 degree weather but waitresses were really nice and tag teamed our table once we were seated to make sure we were always good. There was 7 of us and I tried almost everybody's dish and they were all good! I won't go into everyone dish but I'll give you the highlights I remember. -Creamy pesto was a nice mix -was better than others I've tried. -Gf ravioli I don't think you'd be able to tell it's gf unless you knew. -The Minestrone soup was the best I've ever had, thick and chunky veggie soup with no noodles or beans. Gf I believe! The spicy pasta sauce was spicy!! Too hot for me to eat a whole plate of it but my coworker loved it. We are all hoping to return since the food was delish! I'd love to see you guys expand with some comfy booths and a gelato bar with dim lighting this place would be a hit and Romantic too! Thank you all for the wonderful food and great service!

There were plenty parking when I arrived. Upon arrival... Pros 1) restaurant looked cleaned. Tables, chairs, plates, utensils, cups all lined cleaned. 2) their menu is short and simple. 3) food portions are large. We ordered 3 dishes and did family style. We still had left over. Foods tasted great!!!! All of them. The lamb was soft and easy to eat. Crab Ravioli was delicious. I could see the crab in it and taste the crab. 4) water tasted good. No funky or metal taste to it. They leave a jar on your table so you can refill. 5) ambiance was quiet. It was easy for us to chat and catch up. We could hear each other. 6) waitress was so nice and professional. 7) Cons 1) tiramisu to me was on the very sweet side. It was good. But too sweet for me. I like it more if there were more coffee taste to it vs too sweet. 2) Conclusion I really liked this restaurant. I'd go here again. The portions sizes are large and shareable. Foods are delicious. The staff are so nice. There's plenty of parking. And plenty of stores around the area to go shop too.

I would have left a lower star review, but because this seems like a mom pop shop, I don't want to hurt the ratings too badly. However, I will leave my honest review on the experience below. I came here on a Tuesday evening at 4:30pm for a business dinner meeting with a director of a company, and we were literally the only ones in the restaurant. We were limited on time and planned to chat for only an hour until 5:30 due to time constraints, but after greeting me and taking our drink orders, our server never came back to take our orders or check in on us. We were literally the only ones in the restaurant, and there was no one around, not even a worker. It wasn't until 4:55pm when we saw someone folding napkins by us and ignoring us that we finally asked him kindly if we could order, and he finally went to grab our waitress. I really wanted to ask more about recommendations since I didn't know what to order, and I usually will ask my servers at various restaurants for their recommendations, but since we were so rushed on time and I didn't want to hold us back, I just ordered a linguine prawns and minestrone soup. The pasta wasn't bad but wasn't my favorite, and after I looked at yelp reviews, I wish I had ordered a different dish like their recommended lasagna, but I just had to order rashly since we were all rushing. I did really enjoy my minestrone soup though! On the positive side, after we mentioned he had to leave in 20 mins, they rushed out the food quickly, so I appreciate that. Additionally, the owner and waitress do seem like really sweet people, so I feel sad that I have to write this review. However it really was disappointing that as the only customers in the restaurant, we had to wait over 20 mins to just get our orders taken, and that was only when we asked another person to find our waitress. I was also embarrassed because I had made the recommendation to eat at this restaurant based on hearing good things, and the guy I ate with is used to dining at many different restaurants of various $$$$. I had to apologize for my recommendation since this was both our first times at this restaurant, and I didn't expect this experience at all. The prices at this restaurant aren't cheap either, so we'll see if I come back or not. On the bright side, there is easy parking. Lol.

They even shelved our to-go boxes away from the table so we could enjoy dessert without the clutter. Even my husband, who can be difficult to please, was impressed by everything--right down to the heavy, high-quality flatware. It was filling up fast for a Monday night, and it's easy to see why. Caesar Salad - lots of lettuce, delicious dressing although very little of it, so the salad was very dry. Not one flake of Parmesan on the salad or offered on the side. Very disappointing. Looking at the pictures other patrons posted of their salads, mine was definitely NOT like theirs! Hardly any dressing and no cheese on mine! I also had ordered the agnolotti. The little raviolis were very strange. Some were only partially cooked, many had edges that were hard and inedible. $34 for this? Husband ordered the pomodoro. The pasta had been boiled to death - it was so mushy it was inedible. We both tossed out our entrees after a few bites. We were extremely disappointed, needless to say. This was my after-surgery treat and it was terrible. Out of curiosity, I perused some of the reviews, and the bad ones scared me. The owner's responses were condescending. Two parties stated in their (separate) reviews that they got food poisoning. He went so far as to claim these poor people DID NOT get food poisoning from his restaurant because food poisoning "takes 12 hours or more to set in". That is QUITE UNTRUE! Now we didn't get food poisoning, but our experience along with the owner's outright false statement is enough for us. We shan't be returning. I am also posting the Cleveland Clinic's AND the CDC's SCIENTIFIC FACTS about the time period within which food poisoning can take effect.
