We love Calypso Cafe! They have the best breakfast, sandwiches, and desserts. Our go to sandwiches are the Coronado and the Grilled Tuna Melt. We love the cannolis and other sweet treats too. The owner is so sweet and they really have the best service. It's a great convenience shop/restaurant for the area and the ambiance is so clean and homey. We will definitely be back to Calypso's soon!

Highly recommended!! Food and services were perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My God I haven't had fish tacos this good in 30 years, when my father and I used to get up at 5:00 in the morning head to Ensenada and have fresh caught fish tacos brings back great memories and now I'm having them here close to home, on Tuesdays they're $2 each great service great food, and no these ain't your everyday tiny little tacos these are large size, we're so lucky they're just in our backyard

This is such an adorable, out-of-the way place to have great food and just sit and relax and enjoy good company and conversation! Had no idea this restaurant was even there. We'll definitely go back again in the future!

I have been trying to try this place for about 2 years and finally made it! Always had time to go on a Sunday, but they are closed. Very friendly staff, beautiful view and great food. We went Saturday midmorning and they were making fresh paella, which was filled with many types of seafood and sausages. We could maybe finish half the portion, the rest we took for a late afternoon snack. The breakfast burrito was very good, I wanted it to be a bit bigger. On burrito size, it was on the smaller side, but delicious. The gyros plate was great too, needed a bit more tzatziki, but we could have asked for more. Great dock and dine place in the south bay!

Stopped by Calypso for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The Mediterranean food was excellent, the hamburger was great, and the sandwiches were delicious as well. The staff was friendly, attentive, and very kid-friendly. Highly recommend!

We were camping at Silver Strand State Beach and decided to go out to breakfast the day we were leaving. The Calypso was literally across the road from the campground. They have Fantastic food. Really nice employees. Definitely worth going to.

This is a small mom and pop's eatery that is tucked inside a large community, The Coronado Cays, California. The owner is a hands-on person. This place is a fusion restaurant between the mediterranean and the West, with a touch of Asian spices. The restaurant serves both permanent items on the menu and daily surprises of outstanding dishes.

We took a drive out to Coronado Island, then down the Strand and along the way stopped here for lunch. The Classic cheese burger comes with a fried egg and was delicious.

I Love Calypso Café! Been going since it opened! The most delicious meals around!

We enjoyed the open kitchen, the high ceilings, the breeze and the comfort! We didn't have reservations and it was Mother's Day weekend so we expected to wait and I'm glad we did. I had a delicious granola bowl, a few people in my group had the Eggs Benedict on the house-made English muffins (so good) and there was a very happy avocado toast in the mix. We shared an epic French toast with magical cinnamon syrup - really recommend the French toast!! Loved it enough to add it to the rotation when visiting San Diego.

There were a bunch of nearby shops to browse in as we waited We wanted to try the pretzels which The Henry is known for, but they were all out by 6:30pm I got the filet mignon. It was cooked to absolute perfection. Finally a restaurant that knows what medium rare is!! My boyfriend got the skirt steak with double egg fried rice. He loved it Also!!! I ordered black iced tea, it was THE BEST iced tea I've ever been served at a restaurant. You can tell it was brewed in house and they use high quality tea We wished the dessert menu had a creme brûlée! Our server was so kind and professional Overall an amazing date night, the Henry is decorated so cute inside and I loved the candlelight touches. We'd come here again! But nonetheless the dark interior and laid back environment was pleasant. Even with the laid back environment, the service was attentive and helpful. You can check out my 2 menu pics for the thematic food and drinks that are available. We started with the Volcano Fries. This dish starts with your basic fries, and goes up from there. As you can see from my pic, there are plenty of seasonings on the fries. But it's ALL about their sauces: Sriracha Aioli and Hot Honey. (BTW, the heat wasn't overly hot and didn't distract from the flavors.). Between the garlic, the sweet/heat action, the creaminess of the Aioli, these fries were very hard to stop munching on. While not a super-phenomenal appetizer, it was incredibly irresistible. We then finished with the Pineapple Fried Rice with Spam & Portuguese Sausage, see my pic. We liked the combination of the fried rice with the rich meats (yes, I classified Spam as a meat. This reminded me of some of the Hawaiian Spam dishes.) The seasoning was rather weak. But it still was a hearty and robust meal.

The honey on the fries settled at the bottom and it was a little too sweet but overall it was a great starter. I got the poke tacos and absolutely delicious. I loved the taco shell that was so crunchy and the ahi tuna was so well seasoned. My husband got the pineapple fried rice and it's such a big portion. There was so many meat pieces that it's well worth your money!
