Tuesday, May 25th was my first time eating at The Calypso Cafe. Hannah, the owner was very friendly and hospitable. The ambiance was laidback, casual and welcoming. Hannah creates new specials every day (I believe she is closed on Sundays and she is open 8am to 2pm Mondays through Saturdays). My buddy abs I decided to give Hannah's store a try after a long morning of paddle boarding. We had the Greek Chicken Wrap and a Poke Bowl, washed our food down with Pacifico Beer. The wraps were very delicious. We could have eaten two of them from our workout. The ahi poke bowl was good as well. My only suggestion is to keep the rice hot in the rice cooker and then place the chilled ahi poke over the hot rice. At least, that's how we grew up eating ahi poke in Hawai'i. Other than that, the food was great! Oh, I also ordered one of the specials of the day for GinaBee, the Spicy Salmon Pasta. GinaBee loved it! read more

This is a little hidden gem! Located in Coronado Cays overlooking the gorgeous bay and boat docks!! They have interior seating but we love sitting outside with those stunning views. The food selection is fantastic and their food is so fresh! Like someone is cooking for you from their own kitchen. Super dog friendly, you can grab and go any menu item, great wines and beer and they're now OPEN for dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights! It's the perfect place for casual date night or family night or just come with your dog and walk the beautiful Cays afterwards. Truly one of my favorite spots in San Diego. You'll love it! read more

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year's 2021 This place is literally right around the corner from us, so naturally we take them for granted... Been popping-in last ten years, just about any time of the day or night for awesome meals, right on the quay wall overlooking the marina. But NOW, with COVID-19 constraints; especially during the Holidays, The Calypso Cafe' has become a Five Star Meal "take-out" lifesaver. We just happen to have Thanksgiving, along with 2 birthdays, a wedding anniversary, and then Christmas and New Year's! All rolled into about a 30-day period. It ain't pretty. And so now, with all the dining regulations, all our holiday meals are prepared at The Calypso Cafe'. That was my Christmas gift to the wife, and so she adores me again. All my thanks goes out this Holiday Season to The Calypso Cafe'. OH yeah - And their food is delicious too! Outstanding place. read more

What a cute little place! Hubby and I wanted something right on the water where we could cure that Sunday morning hangover and **poof** here's Hanan and her delightful little restaurant/deli. It was a completely unexpected surprise to find this little shop with chairs inside and out, a full beer cooler, a deli cabinet full of delicious and interesting dishes, and a menu loaded with breakfast and lunch items, all which looked so enticing that it took me almost a full Chelada before I ordered food. The food was so good that Hubby ate his Benny and then turned to the second half of my corned beef sammie. We cleaned those plates better than my Labrador!! Next time your'e on the south side of The Silver Strand, hankering for a beer and some great chow, head on into the Calypso Cafe for some great food, nice conversation and a hangover cure that's a sure start to building that new hangover. read more

I am so over this place. I WILL NEVER COME BACK AND BRING ANY OF MY FRIENDS HERE. I wanted to take my friend out of town to try their breakfast because I actually like the view and eggs Benedict.. I didn't realize the menu changed with the eggs Benedict and it went from $12 something to $6 something and when I got rung up I just thought I got the usual eggs Benedict plate I always get.. The server comes out and gives me my plate and there's only one eggs Benedict and I asked him if it comes with the potatoes and another Benedict.. And he tells me no there is only one and it has ALWAYS been like that.. really? Because the last time I ordered and every time I order it comes with two and potatoes because I didn't know the menu changed.. I go in and talk to the owner and she tells me that their menu has changed and she didn't even want to make me what I actually wanted.. Who does that? If you're running a business wouldn't you want to satisfy your costumers.. Even if she asked me "can we charge you a couple bucks extra to make it the plate you want" I would have RATHER PREFER HER CHARGE ME FOR WHAT I WANTED then be rude about it. She DID NOT WANT to give me my refund because she kept saying "I gave you what you wanted, you wanted the eggs Benedict and that's what I gave you" NO. I WANTED THE EGGS BENEDICT PLATE I ALWAYS GET. I WANT TWO EGGS BENEDICT WITH POTATOES.. Not one. She couldn't even be like "oh sorry our menu changed i will make an exception this time". The only costumers this place is getting, is costumers that the restaurant has befriended and built relationships with. I will never ever return here because ONE, rude costumer service, TWO, their lasagna tastes like canned tomato sauce, THREE, indecisive menu changes and not EVEN taking the time to tell their costumers that it has changed.. What if you have costumers that love to come back because they always get the SAME thing? Well obviously it does not matter. read more

The only place to eat breakfast in Coronado. The atmosphere was wonderful and set me up for a wonderful day, the views from the back deck are spectacular there is a wide range of food to order and the calypso we ordered was amazing .I highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast and lunch. read more

Will definitely be coming back whenever I want a nice brunch! There's indoor and outdoor seating with a beautiful view of the water. The owner (whose name I did not get) is a nice woman who made conversation with us and said the restaurant is like home. Another worker, Rachel, would always accommodate to us and was very pleasant! Food was very quick to come out and the BLT had some of the best bacon I've ever tasted. Rachel also kept the tables cleaned and was quick with her service.
