We love Calypso Cafe! They have the best breakfast, sandwiches, and desserts. Our go to sandwiches are the Coronado and the Grilled Tuna Melt. We love the cannolis and other sweet treats too. The owner is so sweet and they really have the best service. It's a great convenience shop/restaurant for the area and the ambiance is so clean and homey. We will definitely be back to Calypso's soon!

Everything is very fresh, and homemade, and delicious. Even better than my ex-girlfriend used to make.

Highly recommended!! Food and services were perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is such an adorable, out-of-the way place to have great food and just sit and relax and enjoy good company and conversation! Had no idea this restaurant was even there. We'll definitely go back again in the future!

My God I haven't had fish tacos this good in 30 years, when my father and I used to get up at 5:00 in the morning head to Ensenada and have fresh caught fish tacos brings back great memories and now I'm having them here close to home, on Tuesdays they're $2 each great service great food, and no these ain't your everyday tiny little tacos these are large size, we're so lucky they're just in our backyard

I have been trying to try this place for about 2 years and finally made it! Always had time to go on a Sunday, but they are closed. Very friendly staff, beautiful view and great food. We went Saturday midmorning and they were making fresh paella, which was filled with many types of seafood and sausages. We could maybe finish half the portion, the rest we took for a late afternoon snack. The breakfast burrito was very good, I wanted it to be a bit bigger. On burrito size, it was on the smaller side, but delicious. The gyros plate was great too, needed a bit more tzatziki, but we could have asked for more. Great dock and dine place in the south bay!

Stopped by Calypso for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The Mediterranean food was excellent, the hamburger was great, and the sandwiches were delicious as well. The staff was friendly, attentive, and very kid-friendly. Highly recommend!

We were camping at Silver Strand State Beach and decided to go out to breakfast the day we were leaving. The Calypso was literally across the road from the campground. They have Fantastic food. Really nice employees. Definitely worth going to.

This is a small mom and pop's eatery that is tucked inside a large community, The Coronado Cays, California. The owner is a hands-on person. This place is a fusion restaurant between the mediterranean and the West, with a touch of Asian spices. The restaurant serves both permanent items on the menu and daily surprises of outstanding dishes.

Although the menu is decent, the staff is rude and doesn't appear to care about customer service at all.

We had a very good experience at The Henry. We visited with another couple for a pre-Mother's day…read moredinner. Service was impeccable. Our server was Chris and he was OUTSTANDING...very attentive and very friendly. Both managers visited our table several time to make sure we were good. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that what I had was just a bit underwhelming. We ordered the braised beef potstickers, california roll, and grilled and chilled shrimp for appetizers. The meat in the potstickers was very mushy. The california roll was decent. The grilled and chilled shrimp were fine. My husband had the filet - ordered medium well, served medium...the twice baked potato was very small and seemed to be overcooked. I had the lemon chicken entree - the taste was good, but was just a bit dry...it was served with fries, which was fine. The other couple ordered the skirt steak and the braised short ribs which they seemed to enjoy. My drink was amazing - the Amalfi Spritz. For dessert, we tried the butter cake...again, a bit underwhelming and not really good on flavor...I did taste the toffee and caramel, but the cake itself had no taste. Overall, I would go back because of the service, the drinks, and the ambiance.

We enjoyed the open kitchen, the high ceilings, the breeze and the comfort! We didn't have reservations and it was Mother's Day weekend so we expected to wait and I'm glad we did. I had a delicious granola bowl, a few people in my group had the Eggs Benedict on the house-made English muffins (so good) and there was a very happy avocado toast in the mix. We shared an epic French toast with magical cinnamon syrup - really recommend the French toast!! Loved it enough to add it to the rotation when visiting San Diego.

I usually don't take the time to write restaurant reviews because, honestly, I'd rather be eating…read morethan reviewing. But Parakeet Café in Coronado absolutely earned one. Recently my diet has become a game of "What can I eat?" with a growing list of restrictions that has left me frustrated and dreaming about foods I can't have. So finding a place that actually made me excited about eating again felt like striking gold. I ordered the avocado toast on their gluten-free sourdough, and wow--it was delicious. The bread was so good I genuinely didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. Gluten-free can sometimes be a gamble, but this was a winning hand. I also tried the lemon blueberry scones, which are gluten-free, vegan, and made without refined sugar--basically checking every box on my current food plan. They were so good that "I'll just have one bite" quickly turned into "Can I get some to go?" The café itself is beautiful, with a cozy boho vibe that feels both stylish and welcoming (basically my dream aesthetic). The service was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. My only complaint? I wish there was a Parakeet Café closer to where I live because I'd probably become a regular. If you have dietary restrictions--or just appreciate really good food--this place is definitely worth a visit.

But nonetheless the dark interior and laid back environment was pleasant. Even with the laid back environment, the service was attentive and helpful. You can check out my 2 menu pics for the thematic food and drinks that are available. We started with the Volcano Fries. This dish starts with your basic fries, and goes up from there. As you can see from my pic, there are plenty of seasonings on the fries. But it's ALL about their sauces: Sriracha Aioli and Hot Honey. (BTW, the heat wasn't overly hot and didn't distract from the flavors.). Between the garlic, the sweet/heat action, the creaminess of the Aioli, these fries were very hard to stop munching on. While not a super-phenomenal appetizer, it was incredibly irresistible. We then finished with the Pineapple Fried Rice with Spam & Portuguese Sausage, see my pic. We liked the combination of the fried rice with the rich meats (yes, I classified Spam as a meat. This reminded me of some of the Hawaiian Spam dishes.) The seasoning was rather weak. But it still was a hearty and robust meal.
