I've always liked this particular location. There selections are just as great as the other locations in the area that I frequent. This one seems to always have a variety of plants that would be great for small apartments and offices. The Chinese money plant that I picked up today is considered a rarity. My last purchase of this plant was online. I received something much smaller and more pricier than what I bought today. I could have easily gotten myself " in trouble" walking around in here today. Stopped at the Coit Road location on my way home for a houseplant to buy as a gift. I really wasn't sure what I wanted or even where to begin but read a couple reviews here saying the attention to customer service was good. I was quite disappointed at the lack of ANY help from the staff. I walked in and was greeted by an employee standing behind the register with a "hi" and then she promptly turned her back to me after watching me walk toward some pots. That was it. No one else appeared to help, ask me if I needed anything, even acknowledge my presence. I honestly wandered around aimlessly trying to find house plants and trying to locate an employee for a good 20 minutes. I could have gone back to the register for help, yes, but I was all the way across the grounds in the heat and honestly thought there would be someone, anyone, available to help. I stumbled upon some plants that looked like indoor/outdoor options and googled the plant while standing there because there were no signs to describe what I was seeing and no one around to ask. I settled on some ivy and a brown ceramic pot. At the register the same person that acknowledged my arrival was pleasant enough until someone appearing to be a possible manager came over. He seemed to bark instructions to her to which she agreed to follow after checking me out, handing me my receipt, and telling me thank you. This was not a good experience at Calloway's. Perhaps it was bad timing or the heat so I'll go back Calloway's because I've had great service and knowledgeable staff at the McKinney location. I will not be returning to Coit Road and I would recommend the extra time to Eldorado Parkway if you want good service. read more

Perennials & annuals we're all mixed together, the little infomation cards were missing in many plants, colors of plants & various sizes of the same plant were all over the place, I had to track-down someone to answer a question & I even called ahead & received disinformation. The rep who located my online order was great, my purchase looked great as well. The only problem was that the attendant banged up my car bumper when he tried to pick up two bags of compost at once. They have a large stock of beautiful healthy plants and have more staff on hand and always have a couple of knowledgeable seasoned staff on hand to guide me. If I could give this a zero, I sure would. I am a person of special needs who is Profoundly Deaf and do not hear most female voices or those with accents or who mumble. I have tried to be respectful, by calling a day or so ahead to make sure that the person I can hear is working. I have done my part for sure. This location has really had problems with management big time in the past and once again, management stinks. Look at the reviews. I went over on Saturday, to get some flowers in rememberance of my deceased parents. I always ask for Jimmy, as I cannot hear Wilbur or the other clerk, who do not speak out clearly. I asked for Jimmy and was told...even though I called yesterday prior...that the store is low on staff today. I then walked up to Jimmy begging for help and he told me that he was told by Wilbur to stock plants and not to help customers today...even though I needed an interpreter and someone that I could hear. He tried to ask me if someone else could help me and I told him that I could not hear them and if I needed to go to another store for help as I called the day before also for help. I waited for 15 min and no one came to help me, so I walked up front begging for help and an interpreter. Another woman was busy talking in my ear and I told them that I could not hear while someone was talking in my other ear and I was firm that I needed an interpreter and some help. Wilbur the manager yelled at me and accused me of being rude for asking for an interpreter and saying I could not hear and told me to leave the store. I went home and called Ryan who was the manager who was to clean up this crooked store and to babysit them, They store was good until Ryan left. Look at the reviews. This store has horrible customer service. Ryan asked me for my phone number and told me that Donna would be calling me, but Donna failed to care or to call. She is the area manager who thinks this store is in perfect order when it stinks. It is because of Donna that this store is so bad. Donna blamed me for everything and said it is my fault and that I should not complaint because this store is doing so good and it must be me and not them. Wow is all I could say and look at the review. She told me that if I do not like not getting help and no one I can hear, that I should go elsewhere to shop. This came from Donna in the Corporate Office of Calloways. I then asked Donna for her boss and she was speechless. I then called the other Plano store and asked who Donna's boss was and was told he is John Peters. I have called 4 times for him and have been told he is in a meeting. I am not holding my breath for any help. I am a person of Special Needs. I hardly hear a thing when background noise is in place. I drove over to the other store today and spent over 10 dollars of gas to get there just because the customer service stinks at the Custer location and because Donna protects her babies. A customer walked in with me and told me that she too drove over her because of how horrible the Custer road store is. Something needs to change. This location has been bad for a very long time. Corporate sent Ryan over tons of times to repair the damages. It was only good while Ryan babysat this store. A huge apology is owed big time and not just to me but to many other customers who have had the same horrible experience as I have had. Wilbur is very hard for me to hear...actually...anyone to hear. He does not speak out. The customer service at this location is by far the worst. I have called Corporate, and they do not care. Donna actually told me that if I do not like the way they are running the store, that I can shop elsewhere. She is very hateful to those of special needs. I did nothing but ask for someone to help me and to hear. I reached out also to John Peters who is over Donna and he too does not care at all. I wanted to get some houseplants for my townhouse and my office to add some color and clean the air. I'm not knowledgable about plants, so good thing a worker there, Michael, was very helpful. He was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable, giving me a crash course on the different plants they had available. After I spent some time making my selection he also helped me pick out inexpensive pots and saucers that went well with the plants. After paying, the cashier, Monica, also gave spontaneous and helpful advice on watering each of the different plants I had purchased. I don't have much experience with plants, so it makes a big difference that the people there were both knew a lot about plants and were excited about it. It helps get me also excited about greening up my life and I can know that these people know what they're talking about. read more

Get your Christmas tree here! They have a GREAT selection! And if you bring in your stand from the Christmas tree you bought last year at Calloways, you get a discount on your tree! Great place to get flowers. If you're looking for a niche item this place is it. They only offer flowers and some landscaping items. This place is decievingly larger than it looks from the road. I drive down custer each time and each time been telling myself to go check this place out. Also, I recieved good service that day. Calloway is cool. It's not a multi-purpose store like Lowes or HD but for plants and gardening supplies, Calloway can hold its own. I've bought plenty of plants here and most have done well. Last summer I ended up buying 3 pepper plants for $1 a piece and ended up with more than 100+ peppers. There aren't a lot of workers so sometimes the lines moves a bit slow. read more

Calloway;s nursery is the BEST - I am a serious "newbie" to gardening... went in 3 days ago and met Bill - he was extremely courteous and helpful in providing his knowledge, patience and guidance as I selected flowers etc for my back yard. We had so much success, we went back the next day and met Tammy and Wes - who again went out of their way to provide advice and help with a smile. SO we were back again today to buy the rest of the flowers/plants we wanted to finish the backyard and also added to our front yard. I was able to speak with the store manager and provide positive feedback on Bill, Tammy and Wes!!! Went to Calloway's looking for Mother's Day hanging baskets. Customer service is always lacking here but I usually know what I'm looking for. Today the hanging baskets were pathetic looking, and they want $10 more per basket than Christina's nursery. The baskets at Cristinas are twice as full and very beautiful. read more

I generally like the place but usually visit the 121 Plano location often. I decided to call the Custer/Plano location on Saturday 3/29 to inquire about an angel red pomegranate trees because the 121 location was out of them. For starters the young lady that answered the phone was a bit clueless and didn't really know what a pomegranate was. I asked her what was the largest size they sold and of course she had no clue but asked a gentleman in the background who blurted out "5 gallons". I asked how tall and again she asked the guy and he blurted out "about 7 ft tall" which was great for what I was looking for. I immediately got in my truck and headed over just to fine the 5 gallon poms were about 3ft tall. I went up from and asked the ast. manager Dina if the there were any larger poms than those that I had located and there wasn't. I went on to tell her that I has just phoned the location and was told that the location had angel red poms that were about 7 feet and she looking dazed said, "No those are the only ones." How frustrating to have your time wasted due to incompetent help.Generally a good manager would at least attempt to try and compensate or try to error correct but Dina appeared to be just as incompetent and simply manager"ed" up and said she would speak to the staff tomorrow which does nothing for me and the hour wasted. And for this I give Calloway's Plano/Custer a one start rating. I decided to stop by my usually location/ 121 and picked up a 7' 6.5 gallon Fuyu persimmon and was treated with 5 star respect. read more

Very knowledgeable staff and awesome customer service skills. The quality of all of the products they offer is top of the line. I was there on a busy Sunday afternoon and there was not one employee to be found except two people folding boxes and one at the register. Let me start by saying that I've always loved the customer service from Calloway's at my FM & Lewisville locations. Recently called this locale to search for a plant. When they said they didn't have any, I asked them to do an inventory check at their other stores...a service which is more often than not, offered before I even ask. Little Miss was very put off and told me that they were not allowed to do that because the system is inaccurate and customers get upset. I assured her that I understand but I needed a clue to which stores might have what I'm looking for vs. calling every single location in the metroplex. She offered me a directory of stores. Ugh No and I have Google, thank you - I need you to do an inventory check. Audible frustrated sigh and handed off the phone to another man. Calloways has really high prices for their plants but high quality and a fairly large selection year round. This location is smaller than the location on Preston and 190. There isn't much help from the staff here and I always recommend researching options before you come in to buy. Their gardening club is a great way to get deals on what you may already be looking for. read more

My family and I came into this location on 11/27/15 to get a Christmas tree. The staff was very helpful, Cole and Lillian wrapped our tree in a plastic bag even in the cold rainy weather they carried it to our vehicle and tied it down. We couldn't find anywhere else to go to assist us with a tree in this weather. The cashier at the front, Crystal was very sweet in assisting us with the tree preservative and completing our visit at Calloway's with a smile. We will definitely be coming back here again! read more
