I'm a little sensitive to noise, so it ended up giving me a bit of a headache. If you're also sensitive to sound, I'd recommend going earlier in the day, maybe mid-morning, for a quieter experience. Starting at the beginning: My boyfriend didn't like the table we sat at, it was a 6 seater for 2 people. Hm. Then we saw an older couple arrive after us get a nice smaller booth. They were also served water right away and we waited 5 min for water... Ok...oh and one of the seats at our table was covered in crumbs. The tequila chicken fettuccine arrived first and it looked NOTHING like the photo, lukewarm, ok flavoring, yeah would not come here for this. The cacio e Pepe pizza arrived next, maybe would have tasted good if it was fresh, but it was kind of cold and the cheese had hardened and it was so hard to bite and chew... The mushroom sausage and pepperoni pizza arrived (requested no mushrooms) and it was also kind of cold but at least it was still soft and easy to eat. The mini butter cake flight arrived with 90% melted ice cream as you can see in the photo, and aside from that it was just like regular cake. I think the original butter cake would have been better and request the ice cream on a separate dish so it doesn't melt??? Best part was the view of the sunset which was probably the most amazing sunset of the whole year and I was most unfortunately inside of CPK..... The plan was after lunch I take Sweetie back to school shopping and hubs takes Bud to Dave n Busters cuz they decided not to see Freakier Friday. Girls night... There are probably many reasons I rarely dine at the Ala Moana location which is located on the 4th floor amongst many other restaurants is that it's very popular and always crowded but as we planned this holiday girls night out this was the venue and gosh what a wonderful place it certainly was. I do have a friend working at the Kahala location and have mentioned the various dishes they have and knew that I wanted their salmon as the cedar plank is my favorite is nice to know that they also have that topped on the piccata. Thank you Terry for the suggestion though I did nudge her a bit and along with Jackie it was a festive night as we started with Spinach Artichoke Dip, Lettuce Wraps and Italian Chopped Salad to share and to drink it had to be a cocktail and it was the Sparkling Berry-Lemon which came in a huge wine glass that made me feel like sipping pinkies up though we did enjoy our dinner it really felt like the restaurant was struggling the night sadly but happy we got our table without a wait and didn't let the obvious get to us as we cheers to the holidays to health and happiness. I ordered 2 pizzas, 1 pasta, salad, & 2 loaves of bread to be delivered to a family member who is battling cancer. I ordered through DoorDash. The recipient waited two hours+ before the food was delivered. Original estimate for delivery was 56 minutes. But it quickly changed to 2+ hours. I called the restaurant and was transferred 2 times. I eventually was transferred to the takeout line and put on hold for 15 minutes. No one answered, so I hung up. Management needs to address operational issues at this location. Jamie is by far the best server we have ever had at CPK Ala Moana. She is a hustler and she is an expert at multi-tasking. If she isn't a trainer for other up and coming servers, she should be. First off, she was managing a slew of tables and not once did she seem flustered. After we had given her our perks number, she came back to tell us what rewards we had on account and seeing that we had a free dessert owed us, she left us the dessert menu. Prior to our pasta dish coming out, she already dropped off a dish of shredded cheese even before we asked. As soon as the pasta dish was dropped, she also dropped off a shaker of red pepper flakes. The bottom line is that Jamie was a great server, ahead of the curve when it comes to ensuring that we had everything before we needed it and was a great example of what a great server is. Take a peep at the image and you can see how lacking the filling was, it was almost half hallow. 8/10 (would've been 9/10 if they didn't skimp on the filling). - BBQ Brisket Pizza: My friend wanted to try this and it was actually pretty good. 8/10 - Margherita Pizza: I never cared for margherita pizzas, I always tell myself but maybe I'll like it so I always end up trying it but ending up with the same realization over and over again. 6.5/10 - Garlic Cream Fettuccine (Chicken): It was decent, it wasn't as saucy as I would've liked and I thought it was weird I had to request for some parm to sprinkle on top. 8/10 - Chicken Tequila Fettuccine: It was ok, I only got a small bite of it and I feel like it had the same issue as the garlic cream, it wasn't very saucy or flavorful as I personally would've liked. Our waiter gave us free bread and olive oil, it was good. We ordered on a happy hour menu (it's from 3-6 pm). I got a mango sangria drink, which was $8 on happy hour! They had good deals with their drinks which was nice! We also got an appetizer, the spinach artichoke dip, was good but wasn't super traditional tasting to me, but still delicious and only $8 on happy hour menu. For the main dish, I got a BBQ chicken pizza and added pineapple. It was pretty good, but wasn't amazing to me. There wasn't enough sauce and it wasn't really worth the price ($23). I was disappointed in our server. He didn't really check up on us often, and when he did he was really short and quick to leave. He also rushed us for our order, even though we weren't all the way sure or ready to order! When we got our bill, he brought us one and didn't ask if we wanted to split it. I am so incredibly disappointed to have to write this. California Pizza Kitchen at Ala Moana used to be my favorite restaurant, but everything has just been going downhill lately. This most recent visit was a series of service failures from start to finish. The Wait & Service As an Elite member, I expected a much smoother experience. We were told we'd be seated within 5 minutes, but we weren't actually at a table until 20 minutes later. We ordered at 7:40 PM, but our food didn't arrive until after 8:30 PM. To make matters worse, multiple tables who sat down after us received their meals well before we did. It really felt like our order was just forgotten. The Food When the food finally arrived, the presentation was abysmal. The salmon looked like it was just plopped onto the pasta with zero care--no garnishes, no effort. The lettuce wraps were also not appetizing at all. The food quality was also very off; the pasta was cold, but the salmon was extremely hot, which makes me think the salmon was probably just recooked while the rest of the dish sat there. The Rewards Issue The checkout process was the most frustrating part. I had $90 worth of rewards on my account, but the waiter didn't even tell me how much I had or how much my tab actually was. He just told me I "had to use all of it" and that the rewards covered the dinner. He never suggested using the remaining balance for a dessert or a "to-go" item, essentially letting my hard-earned rewards go to waste without any guidance or transparency. While the waiter was nice enough, the lack of communication and the poor handling of membership benefits made this a one-star experience. Year after year, my husband and I look forward to acknowledging the men and women who served our country with a complimentary entree and drink at CPK. It's one of the best deals on the island and the staff work tirelessly from opening to well beyond closing hours to make it happen. We visited the Ala Moana location this year and the place was booming. At least an hour wait around the clock. Despite a packed house and never ending orders, the team did not skip a beat. Service varies depending on the servers. There're a lot of parkings at the mall. I would say they might need some improvements on the cleanness of the seatings because it's quite dirty. My husband and I felt like doing date night one weekend and decided on going somewhere we haven't gone in a while. They have a full bar selection, made updates to both the inside and outside facilities, the lanai with views of Ala Moana Beach Park that remains the same. For us we ordered Margherita pizza, BBQ chopped chicken salad, Jambalaya Linguini, and buttered cake for dessert. The margherita pizza was so delicious with mozzarella and fresh tomatoes. I shouldn't include what my other half thought of his salad, but my linguini was a bit spicy, as expected. Buttered cake was perfect as I have a sweet tooth almost all the time. CPK at Ala Moana Center has lots of free ample parking, weekends and dinner time can get pretty crowded, there were many get togethers of different sizes of party groups. We ended up sitting at a table that could occupy a party of four, that works out if you need some extra space. Hours of operation is 11am-10pm M-Th and until 11pm on weekends. Worst server of the night goes to Warren! We ordered my sons kids pizza as soon as we sat because we knew he was starving! Tell me why his pizza comes out after both our appetizers & our meals come! We literally stopped another server to have her check on his kids pizza. Needless to say.....40 mins later....kids pepperoni pizza comes looking like it was orginially a cheese pizza and they threw a couple slices of pepperoni on it because it wasnt the correct pizza!
