I hired them to move a 1,000 coffee roaster, and due to construction delays on my end I repeatedly had to push the move date. They never batted an eye and were very easy to work with. On moving day, Sacramento and Soto arrived on time and ready to work. They had printed and reviewed the roaster moving guidelines I had provided and followed them to a T. We called CMM needing some help very quickly. We had booked someone else to help us move our large Wolf range (over 900 lbs) and our Sub-Zero fridge (over 700lb), and despite sending them pictures of the items and being told it was something they'd done before, the movers quit on us after arriving. We had a moving truck to load and were in quite a bind. Mark at CMM answered our desperate call and was able to schedule us for 4 hours later at an extremely reasonable price, which he quoted us for very quickly. Jim and Soto showed up with a forklift to help us. They were so very nice and acted like it was no big deal at all. Moving is already stressful, and when logistics are a nightmare it's even worse, but what I thought would be the hardest part of this move was extremely easy with them. Truly remarkable service. Had a bit of a complex project involving a storage container and a narrow back alleyway. While we knew that a forklift would be necessary for the move, we didn't have the experienced personnel to carry it out. We hired CMM to offload a truck with about thirteen machines and a number of very heavy cabinets that we'd transported on a 26' truck from New York. We hadn't seen the offload site in person before contracting with CMM and were shocked to see that there was an incredibly steep driveway AND a loading area that had individual pavers instead of a flat surface, which meant a forklift couldn't safely drive. We were unable to get the big truck up the driveway and we knew we couldn't forklift the machines up individually. I'd about given up hope when Jim Salazar came up with a few super inventive solutions. We ended up renting a pickup truck that he and his team loaded with each machine and backed up the steep driveway, and building a new driveway surface out of plywood and 4x4's. After an exciting morning of intense teamwork and Jim doing amazing problem solving, the rest of the day went incredibly smoothly, with Jim and his team carefully tending to our beloved refurbished machines. The workshop looks amazing now, and I can't believe they got a 1300-pound South Bend Heavy 13 in safe and sound. Ellie was also amazing to work with - super communicative and understanding of our situation. We hope never to have to move again but if we do, CMM will be our first and only call!! read more

When I emailed them for a quote they got back to me quickly and worked with me on the price, offering me the bottom line. I have worked with Jim Salazar and California Machinery Movers for well over 15 years in my work with the International Printing Museum. Jim and his team have helped to move, and ship, numerous presses both small and very large, always without a problem. I have also worked with other machinery movers. Jim is consistently head and shoulders above the rest. Jim has always prided himself on a very professional staff, courteous and attentive from the first call you make to when Marco and Jim arrive with the big yellow truck. I have asked for a few very difficult moves, and again, Jim is not afraid of tackling challenging moves and still not taking advantage of his customer in the price. His prices are very competitive, and if he is not your lowest quote, I will stand behind my opinion that he will be your best quote in terms of service and care of your machine. A warning I give to new letterpress printers who have just invested a lot of money in their press: don't cut corners when it comes to moving your machine! Your equipment is an investment, treat it as such and trust a professional (and insured) machinery mover like Salazar and California Machinery Movers to handle your investment. We had to move a very heavy piece of machinery, and they were not only extremely responsive in obtaining a quote for us, but they were easy to communicate on all the logistics. I needed to move a 9' tall, approx 1,600 lb 3-piece very ornate yard brass fountain (more like a metal work of art statue with a built-in water feature) from one house to another. Moving it in and installing it was problematic enough, but figuring out how to safely remove the approx 750-lb top from its 4 1/2' tall base, move it, then reinstall it in its new hillside location turned out to be a major challenge. Couldn't find anybody who could do it and was getting desperate as it was very unique and very expensive and I didn't want to leave it behind at our old house we sold. A rep from a very large and well established moving company that has moved statues before even told me they couldn't do it and to try a machinery moving company. So I looked up those and called CMM. Jim, the literally hands on owner, answered, and came out to the house. After a professional evaluation, he said they could do it. His crew came out and first had to take out a 10' section of wood fence. They carefully dismantled and loaded the 3 pieces onto their flatbed and were so careful they didn't even damage 1 plant and, even of course knowing that they had, I couldn't even tell they had taken the fence section down! Then came the fun part, getting the pieces down a 60' very steep driveway and onto the concrete pad. After almost 5 hours of very careful work from the time they first started (they even had to work the forklift around a light on a fence post adjacent to the fountain), the fountain was perfectly placed, with Jim literally moving the statute by hand while directing the forklift operator and his other crewman. They even hooked the fountain pump back up! So for apparently almost anything from large yard art to 30,000 lb pieces of machinery that need moving, call California Machinery Movers! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the customer service and knowing I was working with a small local company. They came with a professionally experienced crew and the necessary equipment to handle my machine shop facility move and performed the necessary tasks to logistically coordinate the transportation of my facility. Out of the 4 quotes I received they were the lowest and at the same time able to provide a flatbed truck to haul some of our equipment to our Dallas facility. These guys are amazing! I was in a bind with a shipment that needed to be picked up asap and they totally rearranged their pick ups to fit mine in. Then, the shipping company I used gave them a hard time and they remained professional the entire time and kept me in the loop. I am going to move the press again in a few months and I wouldn't call or trust anyone else with it. Jim and Marco did the pick up and drop off and they were really good with communicating with me the entire time. I have to give special props to Mark who worked with me through the whole dramatic and harrowing process. Overall, entire team at CMM really put my mind at ease. We have used many machine moving companies in the past but this was the first time we have used them. I had found this company on Craigslist and what caught my eye is "they would beat any price". I thought I would give them a try and see what they would quote me on some machines we needed relocated. I was very happy when I called and explained what it was that we needed moved, and they got me a quote immediately over email and it was very professional and detailed. We needed this equipment moved pretty quick but when I called to schedule a move because their pricing was the best I had found, they already had a full schedule for that day. The lady who helped me (Melissa I think?) said she would get back to me to see if they could rearrange their movers to accomadate us. Sure enough she called right back and was able to fit us in. She sent the movers over the next day and they showed up on time and moved our machines to the new location. Jim the owner was one of the guys who moved the machines and was more than helpful and went above and beyond. Not only did they move the machines we were quoted but also a few additonal items at no additonal cost. To say the least our company was more than satisfied with California Machinery Movers and we are in the process of using them again for another job and will continue to use them for all jobs going forward.
