I was doing a good deed donating stuff for free, which was the only reason I used movers, so the additional unexpected $$$ really hurt my budget. The actual movers doing the work, are hard working men. But the moving quotes and the management are a joke! They give you an estimate of $1,000 after knowing the inventory and distance and then add $2,000 later and make you pay it even if you disagree. Plus they advertise Military discount and they DONT GIVE MILITARY Discounts! The movers didn't even know who the Bosses are. These guys started off amazing. Then the decline and intimidation came. I have been sick for over a year and in the last few weeks got worse and wasn't able to complete all of my packing. The team helped, but they brought a truck that was too small so my move hadcto be done in two parts and what should have amounted to a $3000 move somehow became over $4300 with erroneous charges for a Tv box and mattress box (both were never used) and then came time for payment. They had the audacity to ask me how much of a tip we were leaving and strong armed my 82 year old mother into leaving them an additional $200 tip which they still said wasn't enough. I wish I had read the reviews before using this company, as I found out the hard way that their practices are deceptive and the contract appears to be entrapment. Before agreeing I called because the estimate for my move included additional fees that I wasn't aware of initially. I spoke with Robert L, who assured me the amount of $507 given an extra 1-2 hrs for additional time. The fees I saw were not charged due to a discount. He also explained that paying with a card would be an additional 5% fee or cash. I told him I didn't want any surprises and I wanted to make sure I had the cash on hand to avoid the fee. Afterwards, I paid $100 deposit and signed contract. Day of move, movers were late, due to issues with truck. The mover walks in and the 1st thing out of his mouth is, "you know you will be charged double due to the distance and this is the law that any distance over 10 miles you'd be charged double." It was as a matter of fact, which I feel this should've been said when I spoke with Robert L, but it wasn't. When I called Rob and asked him why hte left out this critical piece of information, his only response was, "you didn't understand." So, instead of the $507 quote I received, I was looking at a charge of $1014 plus additional 1-2 hours @ $169 an hr!!! Not to mention, if I canceled, they'd charge the full amount quoted, which he did within 5 minutes of me telling him I wasn't prepared to pay that amount and had to cancel. This company charged me $529 to show up late and do absolutely nothing. They didn't lift a finger! I would understand losing the $100 deposit but to charge the full about is absurd and I'm now disputing with my bank. Just to give you an idea how quick the packing would've been, I left picked up a U-Haul truck and was on the road within 4 hours. Clearly it took me and my sister longer, as we are not movers and not men. I've never experienced anything like this before as there was no empathy for the customer. This company lacks tact and customer service, not to mention they will lie or leave out valuable information only to get you to sign the contract. Once you sign, you're locked into that MINIMUM estimate regardless. read more

Had to hire a moving company in a hurry, to transport a fridge that was in my storage unit, to my home. Contacted Rocket Moving Services, received a quote and was able to schedule an appointment for 2 movers to support within their 3 hour minimum window time. They showed up at my Storage Unit within the time they stated from the phone conversation, and was able to move the fridge within the 3 hour window to my home and set it up for me!!! I give this a 3 star since these guys did wrap up everything and moved my stuff. My complaint starting off is they charge double driving time which I was not aware of but they did say they told me but I must of not understand when they originally told me. I have never used a moving company before so I wouldn't know but they do use up most of the time wrapping things up. My two bedroom I would figure it would take about 4/5 hours. It took them 11 hours. We asked them to move everything out of the house since we have to be moved out. I come back to the house the next day and had to hire another mover to move more stuff because they did not take everything. I asked them several times if they moved everything and they said they did. I also told them we live up on a hill and they told me their truck would be able go up which it didn't do they had to move things by carrying it up which is why I felt bad and paid them and tipped the guys. I'm pretty upset though that they didn't move all the stuff when I asked if everything was moved out. read more

My past and recent moves were excruciating and prolonged suffering. Today was a huge contrast to that- these guys are PROFESSIONAL. They were polite, direct, and competent. They didn't drop, break, or scratch a single item. Today they worked in 90 degree weather without any complaining and they even had to haul a heavy couch, bed, and dresser up three flights of stairs. I don't know how they did that, they made it look easy. The price was super reasonable for moving a household across a county line, in hot weather conditions, and unloading furniture up 3 flights of stairs. DO NOT USE ROCKET MOVING! THEY ARE NOT HONEST! My husband & I were moving from LA to TX. We spent SO much time reviewing, interviewing, & researching moving companies. We were willing to pay more for their services because they had such great reviews! We called multiple times before our moving day to confirm everything. They sounded great & answered all of our questions. We had specific needs since we were moving with the military. We have done 3 prior military moves, so we knew what to look for & how to figure out the details. Then moving day comes... Three men pull up in a plain US mail truck. They didn't ask us who we were, where we were going, & didn't give us any formal documentation. No business cards, no inventory sheet, literally nothing. They do a quick tour & start loading our stuff into the truck. Again not a single person kept records of boxes. One man also REEKED OF ALCOHOL. Rocket Moving clearing overbooked themselves & had to hire a separate company to finish the job. Trusting their company's name with random men who were not professional. After about 30 minutes of them loading our things & us panicking, we asked them to unload the truck. Everything was looking like a textbook scam. I am so thankful I spent a lot of time reading about tips, tricks, & scams with moving companies. They were going to load all of our stuff up, not have an inventory list, add other people's things to the truck (they admitted to this), throw it in a warehouse & then reload it into a different truck. Even though they told us our stuff was going to sit in the truck until it would be delivered. Because of their negligence we had to scramble to get a uhaul in time & drive ourselves, our four dogs, three other cars, & a baby to Texas during the intense July heatwave. It took 3 days to get to Texas. It was miserable. AND THEY NEVER CALLED TO APOLOGIZE!! They said they would have their supervisor call. We literally waited by the phone to try to get it sorted out. Never heard from them. There is NO one holding moving companies accountable. These are our belongings. Things we do not want broken or messed with by strangers. Things we have spent our hard earned money on. Our prior movers have put everything in a sealed pallet, made us sign for it, had detailed contracts in their hands as they arrived, & had someone keeping a detailed inventory list on a clipboard. We should have gone with Excalibur Moving Company. They were a tiny bit more expensive but they were wonderful when we arrived in Los Angeles. I hope Rocket Moving Company loses business from this review. Treat your customers better!!!!!!! read more
