This is a two part/two day review: Tony contacted me the week prior to my move and we agreed on pricing logistics etc. We worked out details on he phone & via e-mail. There were no surprises. Not a problem. Pricing was excellent and I didn't need to haggle: straight up honest pricing for man power/hours w/ 5% discount for cash & one way drive time. You cannot get better. Best of all, Tony didn't ask me to measure the size of my furniture, calculate volume of area, count items (boxes), or create an elaborate inventory check list. I packed 90% of my belongings (and color-coded the boxes by room) myself (I'm an artist; 150+ boxes of fragile crap & art supplies), I even provided 4 rolls of shrink-wrap; but as moving day came closer (and I had already moved the majority of my artwork & valuables), I had a feeling that 1 truck wasn't going to do the job (even packing my vehicle). Tony came out Thursday & assured me one truck would suffice.... LOL Friday, August 27th 2021, the crew arrived: Joseph, Solomon, Milky, Francisco, & Antonio; seriously one could not ask for a better more professional and RESPECTFUL (note this) crew. I worked beside them {still packing) as they filled the truck. All of them asked me how I wanted my belongings handled & packed. Not one of those men complained, bossed me, nor disrespected me when I indicated which boxes went into my vehicle. I was included in all decisions of the disposition of my belongings and the logistics of my move. All ya'll Receive FIVE STARS! Now, here's the ugly: I went back on Sunday the 29th to finish up, but it was 104º by 2:00 pm, so we were too wiped out to pack much of the remainder (but still I moved several boxes on my own). Monday, August 30th: the 2 person (I'll not say "man") crew was scheduled to arrive no later than 9:30 am: they arrived after 10:00.... I expected two of the same movers & Joseph: Fugly surprise:; some young, disrespectful, macho kid (young enough to be my child) David & an older man, Thomas arrived. This, kid, came in and started bossing me around: telling me that he was the supervisor & how he was going to do things, completely ignoring me and the fact that I was paying him to work for me. He told me, in no uncertain terms, that he was not going to let me put/move any of my boxes in my vehicle... Hello! So, I politely said: "If this is going to be a problem, you might want to leave and send another crew". He went outside & made a phone call. He then returned and we went over the contract (his disrespectful macho attitude still very much in evidence). He (David) then informed me that he was going to pack EVERYTHING in wardrobe boxes.... At that point, I was finished with him & his arrogant disrespectful attitude; I told him he needed to get someone else to work with me. He stormed away & said: "I'm going to call Tony!"; but not before complaining to Thomas about me in Spanish. He just assumed (given my pale complexion) that I am not multi-lingual and understood him: Surprise! After some time Tony arrived & let me know that Joseph was on his way to replace the kid. Tony helped move some of my boxes & plants downstairs.... But what Tony did not do was apologize for his employee's arrogant behavior towards me. So, Joseph came & worked with Thomas to pack my remaining belongings: Am I happy? No! Why not? All of my remaining boxes & belongings were haphazardly packed into tall wardrobe boxes, without much concern or care and I am unable to lift the heavier items out of the wardrobes. Basically, I can tell, the idea was: "Get 'er done! Forget the fragility, disposition, & which side is up". I don't care that some of my furniture is still out on the patio: but I sure as Hades care that some of it is Upside down! I care that a full 3 gallon (24+ lb.) water-bottle was in a wardrobe box & I needed help to lift it out. I certainly care that a 20x30 glassed photo is in a wardrobe box w/ heavy stuff leaning against it. I care that boxes are turned on their side & taped to other items... I care about the sloppiness of the Monday crew: if you are not going to do a job correctly & with respect to the items you are packing/moving; you're in the wrong job and need to leave it to others.. I did pay extra for trash hauling (which was worth it). I fed the crew snacks & a late lunch, I left a generous tip for all of both crews (which after I opened the wardrobe boxes from Monday's move, I now regret I did for Thomas). The cost was minimal in comparison to other companies and well worth it. I cannot say too many times that Friday's crew was Outstanding..... Would I use TLC again? Knowing what I know & have experienced? Unequivocally Yes; with the qualifications that I work with Solomon, Milky, Antonio, Francisco & Joseph ONLY. read more

I had a lot of bad moving experiences in the past ten years dealing with trust issue, so I repeatedly called and confirmed with Tony the coordinator. He was very patient with me and kept me posted with the movers info. I was freaked out before unloading, they increased the estimate to 9 hours (was 8 hours before) because they think the moving time will be 2 hours. I was surprise that the mover told me they cannot stop before completely moving everything. So I moved with them, did a lot of work, and finished in 40min. Tony refunded me right away. I will probably stay with them for my next moving. Some disappointed things: (1) the mover arrived 8:08 and do the paperwork and did not start moving until 8:23, but they still charge me from 8:00. This was upset since it was almost $75 of that amount of time. (2) after arrival and before unload, they spent about 15min to do the paperwork and have you write down your payment info. One I had security concern because they don't use POS machine. Two, they still charge you during the no-working 15 mins. And remember, my entire unloading only took 40min. But I guess it was normal to have them take a little advantage. As long as they are not scammer, I was satisfied. Just be prepared to pay more on your quote. (And sure, they ask for tips) read more

It is my second time using their services and just like the first time it was again a pleasure to speak with the owner Tony personally to set up the move and then again afterward to tell him how well his team of Joseph and three-man crew Luis, Panama and Milky handled my move. The experience of the team was obvious from start to finish and the way they work together as a team was really amazing. I was very impressed the way they quickly used wardrobe containers to accommodate items other than clothes that I could not figure out how to pack myself. I was most impressed by the way they stacked my boxes putting lighter boxes on top in my new very much smaller apartment to better help me manage my unpacking in the new place. Unfortunately once I unpacked all my things there were several damages of expensive furniture. They had packed a few boxes for me but piled up heavy things on top of each other and when I unpacked I was disappointed to find a few things damaged beyond repair. Could have been avoided with more careful packing. They also lost screws for things and now I can't put my stuff back together. read more

TLC overcharged me by about $400. I chose TLC Movers as they seemed very professional and came in with the lowest hourly rate for 3 movers. However, I got an additional professional (Joseph) whose job it was to extract as much money from me during the move as was feasible. The 4 hour move (just 6 blocks away!) instead took 6 hours, which included a lunch hour at $145, plus a $60 lunch, mileage costs, materials at well over $200 that I was unable to verify, and other costs not disclosed until the moving van had already shown up (late) and parked in my driveway. Though the company did a good job, I wish I had gone with a firm fixed price contract as I was offered several of those. That would have saved me at least $400. Don't be fooled by the low hourly rate being offered -- these guys are professionals at upping the price you will pay! read more

They were so polite but unfortunately they said they couldn't move my couch into the new apartment and left. My partner and a neighbor were able to take the couch apart and bring it into the apartment, which makes it feel like the movers could have done more to bring the couch in. All my partner did (with the help of our neighbor), was unscrew the legs. Also my lamp that we packed is no where to be found. Not saying it's still in the moving truck, but I have no idea where it could be. It never entered my new apartment. read more

A classic "I wish zero stars was an option" situation. If you don't care about your stuff making it to your new place, then go with TLC. First, they showed up 30 minutes late. They noted the start time, but they also bill a full hour, not a fraction -- expect your move to take X hours and 10 minutes. The foreman spent more time talking about the photos, my running routine, and his cycling routine than actually moving anything. Some friendly conversation is normal, this guy spent 2 hours standing around chit chatting. $265/hour might be marginally better than other places, but at that rate the people should be actually working. I could have handled the lazy foreman, but the team literally left things in the hallway of the building I was moving out of. Thousands of dollars worth of items just left in the basement freight hallway because they were too careless. I wasn't able to sweep through the area myself because I needed to get to the new unit. But be advised, these people don't care about your belongings, you should absolutely micro-manage them if you make the mistake of choosing TLC. *UPDATE* I found the cast iron skillet that went missing. Apparently, the person packing up the kitchen shoved it in the oven rather than into a box...(?)...Mostly we're just happy that it was a solo item left behind rather than in a box with other stuff I hadn't yet realized is missing... When discussing the screw up with the job foreman, he insisted that he was the best truck unloader west of the Mississippi. It took 20 minutes to get him to understand that he never put the stuff on the truck in the first place. Then he just said, "I don't know man. In 25 years, I've never had a problem. Maybe the stuff will turn up as you're unpacking." I again reminded him that my old neighbors had already found it. You get what you pay for... Tony is also an unethical piece of work. When discussing the fact that his team lost thousands of dollars worth of property, he replied, "Well, the law says I'm only responsible for 60 cents per pound, so that's all you're going to get. And I don't compensate for our screw ups beyond what the insurance pays. That's why I have insurance." I guess moving companies and questionable ethics go hand in hand. read more
