Easy and straightforward to book, clear communication, transparent pricing. Nori is very knowledgeable about all sorts of pianos, not just Yamaha. He gave a very thorough rundown of the different brands on the market today and their strengths and weaknesses. Friendly and willing to chat. read more

What a knowledgeable and interesting guy. My completely out of tune piano was made whole. It had been 20 years and a couple of moves since it had been tuned. Nori was upfront as to the cost and we were billed after each visit. It took three. He enjoys explaining his craft and answering questions. Very prompt, neat, tidy, and polite. Can't say enough nice things about this young man. He has a passion for the piano for sure. read more

Nori is great at what he does and spends the time to do it right. I got my used piano from a dealer / technician thinking I was getting a great deal because the technician should be able to get a used piano in top shape, right? After 3+ visits, the technician could not address my problems and basically said that's the way it is, unless I spend more money for a better piano. Enter Nori, who made multiple trips to get the piano into a playable shape, and since then, he's come back six months later for a piano tuning. I would wholeheartedly trust him to tune up your piano because you can really tell he spends the time and care to make sure your piano is taken care of. read more

Nori was proficient and professional. He was clean and detailed and was great at explaining what he was doing. Price was fair and was like a doctor assessing a patient. Piano was a 1987 Schafer & Sons which had not been tuned in 30 years. He cleaned up all the dust and brought it back to life. This was my childhood piano and mow will be my 7 yo's to use. read more

I read all of the great reviews and really wish that I was able to give one as well. I reached out multiple times via phone as well as text and no one ever got back to me. I would've loved to work with Nori because they're so close to where I live but unfortunately I never got the chance to! read more

Thank you for tuning and fixing our Yamaha piano. Nori is honest, knowledgeable, detailed, thorough and a person of his words. The kids are enjoying the piano a lot more. Thank you ! read more

Nori is very professional, knowledgeable, respectful, detail oriented and very personable to deal with. He always shows up on time, he always brings his indoor slippers which I appreciate since we don't wear outside shoes in our house. He has a great system in place to book appointment easily, it sends regular reminders and he will accommodate if you need to change your appointment with enough notice. I've used him for a couple years now and very satisfied with his work. I highly recommend Nori! read more

Amazing service and so friendly! They fixed my digital piano! Thanks again for the great service!

Nori is very professional, kind, and thorough. I got a used piano and he spent time improving the quality ten fold!

Go no where else if you need your piano tuned. My piano is as yeoman's as they come, a 40 year old (at least) Cable-Nelson. But Nori treated it with the same care he would apply to the finest Yamaha or Steinway. Add his calm and engaging demeanor, and fair price (particularly for two visits) and you have yourself someone that made me want to write this review. read more

Efficient scheduling tool, experienced and knowledgeable technician. My piano is like new!

Excellent work at very fair prices. Very thorough with his craft. Would absolutely recommend!

Solved, my trouble, he will come back next week to help me with the voicing for piano.

Nori was punctual, explained the piano's components very well, and did an excellent job with tuning and voicing.

Long overdue review. We hadn't tuned our piano in, like, a decade. We also had some broken piece that the last tuner couldn't fix bc the part had to come from Korea or something and it would've been cost-prohibitive, so it was jerry-rigged for the sustain pedal to get get by, but it was still clearly not working. Asked Nori for an estimate, which was reasonable and explained about the needed repair. He gave a ballpark, which I believe he came in under. ANNNNDDDD he was able to fix our piano, FINALLY! He was efficient, competent and friendly--what more could you ask for? Thanks, Nori! read more

Nori provided excellent service with tuning our piano. He provided intricate details on the issues and how everything worked. He was professional and courteous. Highly recommend! read more

Nori performed Tuning, Regulation and Voicing on my grand piano Nori also found a split in one hammer and repaired it at no extra charge. Courteous and upfront professional. He worked diligently and everything went as described my service took two 3-4 hour sessions. He worked cleanly and also brings his own indoor shoes which was a nice touch. Communication was great, with automated reminders and follow ups, and upfront prices listed on his website, I highly recommend Nori. read more

Nori was very very professional. Being Asian household, you know we don't wear shoes inside. He brought his own indoor shoes to change, which I really appreciated. ( Don't need to wipe the floor after he left ). The piano was passed on to me and it has not been tuned for more than 10 years. He explained everything in detail. He had to do just regular tuning, which I could understand (10+ years). After working on my piano for 4+ hours, I would be ready to leave as soon as I finished the job. What impressed me is when he put the cover back on. He played the piano and noticed the noise when he played. He took the cover off and looked for it. To my ear , I can't hear anything different . And he was trained in Yamaha in Japan. Plus his price is very reasonable. You can see all the information on his website, which I like. read more

Nori was great. Extremely careful and explained everything about the process in detail. Very clear with pricing and work, with recommendations for what could be done now vs put off for later. Gave great advice for the long term health of the piano - considering temperature and humidity control and being careful with pets and kids. Excellent experience all the way around. read more

I requested an estimate for piano tuning. It took this business a few days to respond just to let me know that I could go to their website to fill out a form so they could provide an estimate. I didn't appreciate the untimeliness and somewhat cumbersome process to get an estimate. I used the services of another business that was willing to provide an estimate and appointment date within a matter of hours. read more

Quick response time, communicative, knowledgeable and professional. I highly recommend Nori for any piano servicing needs.

Tuned to perfection! Extremely high level of understanding and experience with working on old pianos. He takes valuable care for the piano and guides you through each step on what needs to be worked on. At the end of the sessions, everything was perfect. On top of that, he really cares about the safety of the customers and even cleans up the piano after leaving. read more

Nori's Piano Service - Piano Services Near Me

Nori was fantastic. Our piano was newly purchased, so this was its first time being tuned in our home. What's more, it posed a uniquely difficult challenge as it had spent the previous 15 years sitting, unused, as decoration in someone's home. Nori ran into challenges and communicated them clearly with us. He dedicated himself to making the touch and tuning perfect, and the results have been stunning. One day of playing later, we're sold as fans of his. Thank you Nori. read more

It's been over 10 years since I've had my piano tuned. Finally, I made an appointment with Nori to have my piano tuned. I found him on Yelp! He posted his prices which were very reasonable. The first visit took several hours because Nori was very thorough as he checked/examined the piano. I appreciated that he posts the time allotted for each part of the service. He sends reminders via email which makes it easier for me to remember to schedule an appointment. Also, texts a few days before the actual appointment. Nori is very professional and respectful. He changes his shoes when entering the house (a plus in my eyes)! He asks if there have been any problems/issues since the last visit. If there is a problem, then he discusses the best solution. It's been several years now since I first met him and I really like and trust him. He continues to tune my piano. I recommend Nori's Piano Service. read more

It was time for me to have my Yamaha U1 piano serviced and felt that there may be a better piano tuner then the technician that I had been using. I am so glad that I decided to look, because Nori at Nori's piano service is excellent. Nori has a great personality, courteous, and very professional. He is officially trained by Yamaha and the difference shows immediately. There was a difference in sound that I did not experience with the previous tuner. If feels like the piano sounds even better than when it was new. I would give him 10 stars if that is possible. Very highly recommend. My only worry now is that he may become too popular. read more

Nori is a detail oriented professional that obviously cares a lot about his craft. I couldn't recommend him enough. I initially hired him just to bring my 35 year old Yamaha upright back in tune. While taking it apart he pointed out other areas with the action that could use repairs due to normal wear and tear. I took his advice even though it was going to cost quite a bit more than just the tuning, but the results speak for themselves. I was shocked how much better the piano played. I used to find myself having a lot issues controlling dynamics playing, and I had just chalked it up to poor technique and touch. Now I know the condition of the piano played a non-trivial role. It really brought the joy back in playing for me and you can't put a price on that. read more

In an attempt to reconnect with my love of playing, I had a tuner come but he said I needed a piano technician to fix some of the issues I had on the piano. Apparently if you let a piano just sit there untuned and unplayed for years, things just deteriorate which does affect how a piano sounds and plays. I can't say it was particularly easy to find a piano technician in this town, especially on Yelp! I just happen to come upon Nori's website in a Google search and saw he was trained at a Yamaha academy in Japan. His fees were straightforward and he's local. Nori patiently explained to me the work my piano needed which included tuning, regulation, voicing and repairing of the issue with my sustain pedal. I won't say I totally know what all those things are but regulation had to do with the alignment of my keys (and they were at different heights), voicing had to do with how the hammers were hitting the strings and the quality of the sound after it strikes (and yes, I noticed it doesn't sound as even in brightness and softness like before), etc. I also had several sticky keys. Nori got to work and he worked hard for about 4 hours. For voicing, he literally sat there filing each and every hammer until they were right. He charged me the most reasonable rate on earth for all the work (!) and threw in the fixing of the sticky keys for free. And it turned out the issue with my pedal wasn't in the pedal itself but in another part of the piano that was affecting how the pedal worked. I did have to leave for an appointment toward the end so he kept working while I was away. When I returned home to try the piano -- OMG -- I can only say Nori restoring my piano changed a big part of my life by reigniting my love for playing and classical music. The keys feels amazing with just the right stiffness, none of them stick, and the sound is beautiful. The voicing really allows me to play with some texture. Nori is like a piano surgeon. Yeah... that's how I would describe him! He's a superstar. read more

Nori showed great proficiencies and cares; he handled tuning and pitching really well and ensured no problems were being omitted. He also sanitized the piano and the surrounding really well. I definitely will have his piano service again in the future. read more

I spent a couple weeks trying to find someone who offered piano voicing and hammer maintenance -- all of the highly rated vendors in my area said they only offered tuning services. I reached out to Nori and he was willing to arrange to make the longer trip to work on my 40 year old Yamaha G3. I am exceedingly pleased with his work. He was very clear and communicative in scheduling the work and laying out the probable cost based on the information I provided him. He was prompt and on time for the appointment, despite the longer travel distance through California traffic. He thoroughly diagnosed the piano and walked me step-by-step through what he was going to do, and how -- and even went deep into specifics of why he made certain pedal adjustments to match our specific flooring. Afterwards he showed me the results of his four and a half hours of work, and as we tested out the piano I couldn't believe the improvement in how it sounded. Voicing and refinishing the hammers removed the occasional metallic notes. He fixed a few of the dampeners so phrases are so much clearer and distinct. I had no idea the piano was as muffled as it was, and the difference is night and day. Nori briefly mentions that he's a Yamaha Certified Piano Technician in his bio, but that one-line description doesn't fully describe the dedication and skill required to succeed in the long, intense, and rigorous training program in Kakegawa. The way my piano sounds now is a better testament than any review I could write. read more

My first time with Nori and I really enjoyed it. It seems that there's two kinds of piano tuners, the grumpy old guy who won't talk and the overly impressed with himself guy who just won't shut up. I'm happy to say communication with Nori was a pleasure. We coordinated via text and e-mail and in all cases the communication was timely and clear. He spent a lot of time with the piano getting it dialed in. Especially as his price is a little lower than the going rates. He's no wham-bam thank you ma'am as are some low-ballers. Where's the last star? He did a lot more voicing than I expected and while I appreciate the extra work, he MIGHT have over needled a few of the hammers. They'll probably firm up a bit with some more playing so we'll see. The tuning itself is perfect. Every note is spot on and intervals are true. Overall I'm more than happy and plan to use Nori again in the future. I'll know to talk a little more in advance about any voicing work. read more

Nori brought my piano back to life! I recently bought a used upright Kawai from the 80's that seemed to be in good shape but wasn't sounding right. I had it tuned so that it would be good enough to practice on for a while, but the overall sound was a little harsh and the keys felt unbalanced. I knew I needed a more versed professional who could do a more thorough job of revitalizing it. That's when I found Nori. He is so knowledgeable and informative. Right away he was able to assess what he needed to do and explained the process to me carefully. He took his time and when he was done had me sit down to give it try. It was a completely different piano. I had no idea my piano could be such a delight to play. Everything feels so balanced and it sounds softer and warmer then it ever did before. I am so happy to have found Nori. He is someone who takes pride in his work and clearly cares about what he does. read more
