I am reviewing my experience interacting with this company a few months ago. I have decided to write this review to caution any potential customer, and I hope this leads to an improvement in customer service, procedures, and the level of professionalism provided. My contact with this company started when I was rear-ended and brought my car in for an estimate. The person at check-in looked at the car briefly and verbally told me there was only cosmetic damage. After her repeated assurance of "only cosmetic damage," she questioned if I wanted to pursue further. I asked her multiple times if she was sure it was only cosmetic before leaving based on her assessment as an employee of Caliper Collision. My car was hit from behind. I was concerned about internal damage, but she assured me repeatedly, and I left based on her experience as a company representative. It took her repeated assurances that there was no damage on my car beyond cosmetic before I decided to go. A few days later, I received a missed call from this company, and I called them back. After being forwarded a few times without warning, I spoke to the person who told me my car had only cosmetic damage. I informed her who I was and needed clarification on who I was talking to. She immediately started yelling at me, insisting I had pulled my claim. Confused, I began to discuss the damage to my car again, feeling the need to defend myself. Yelling, she told me they already closed my account with them and would need to start the process "all over again" if I pursued further. She was stating again that the damage from the accident was only cosmetic and that I chose not to pursue further (omitting the fact that I did so based on her assessment). After trying to defend myself further from her yelling, I realized I was being pulled into an argument; I paused and informed her that I had called because there was a missed call from the company on my phone log. Without hesitation or apology for the yelling, she said the call was made to me in error, and it was to bring my car to the garage for an inspection. She behaved as if my calling bothered her when, in reality, I was returning a missed call. She did not apologize for her behavior or exhibit any remorse for how she spoke to me. The yelling was uncalled for, and the behavior was unprofessional. I felt like I had done something wrong for calling them. I felt the need to defend myself and that it would be a burden for them to "start the process all over again" for my claim. I had no idea at the time why she was aggressive and yelling at me when I was returning a missed call. After reflecting on the interaction, I realized that the Caliper Collision licensed mechanic never reviewed my vehicle before providing an assessment. There was no formal or internal examination of my car before this front desk person at check-in made an assessment. The missed call was intended to bring my car into the garage for a formal inspection. The person at the front desk was not qualified to determine that the damage to my car was "only cosmetic." I asked her multiple times if she was sure there was only cosmetic damage, and she assured me. She also verbally gave me general estimates of how much it would cost to fix the cosmetic damage saying it would be a few hundred dollars to fix it. At no point was my car assessed by a licensed mechanic. It was at the insistence of the woman at the front desk who yelled at me on the phone and pressured me not to pursue further. I guess that she was yelling at me and behaving as if my call was problematic because I was returning a missed call that was intended to bring in my car to a qualified person at the company when she already provided me with an "assessment" that I don't believe she was professionally qualified to make. Regardless, it is bad business to yell at and treat your clients this way. When I called Caliper Colison to return the missed phone call, I was blindsided by this front desk staff member's yelling and being attacked on the phone as if I was a burden for them if they needed to inspect my car. The company should provide a complete assessment by a qualified professional before informing a customer of the possible damage after an auto accident. The woman at the front desk should not be making such assessments and yelling at customers who follow up. I have informed my insurance company of this interaction. Hence, they know how they treat their customers and that mechanics do not see the cars before an assessment is provided to customers of damages. For any potential customer, tell your insurance company if this happens. If the company refuses to put their "assessment" of your car in writing or a qualified person never sees your vehicle before giving you an assessment-run. read more

Getting rear ended was the worst but the staff at caliber collision made the repair process so easy. It just took another weight of my shoulders after the accident. I notified my insurance and they sent the paperwork over to caliber then I was able to schedule my appointment. They are open Monday thru Friday only but they open early so I was able to drop it off early before work. And they worked with the rental car service to get me picked up and into my rental car. The visual estimate was quick and easy. They kept me informed through the entire process. They always called to update me on the status of my car and if any changes happened. I didn't have to pay for my deductible until I picked up my car. All the parts ordered were from the dealership directly and they did the paint job in house. The color match looked great and my bumper looked amazing like nothing ever happened. They even gave my car a full wash and interior cleaning when I got it back! Even with all the bad news I had, this process was so easy it made it easier to handle. Great customer service and repair experience. I was rear-ended, which damaged the tail section of our new Lexus. The other party's insurance company recommended Caliber. I was a bit hesitant because I wasn't familiar with them, and almost got a second quote from our dealership. I ended up going with Caliber because they were about 1.5 miles from our apartment, and Guillermo's communication was excellent. I can't say enough good things about these guys. Guillermo handled the repairs. We had some scratches elsewhere on the bumper and Guillermo fixed them for no extra charge. I was really thankful for that. The time it took was exactly as stated, the customer service was stellar, everyone was pleasant. The tail section looks brand new. The car was washed and looked terrific. They had a warranty on their work--I can't remember the period off the top of my head, but it was for a long time. The parking is a bit tricky, but available. There were only a few spots out front, but there's an alleyway on the East side of their business (make a right at the RR track). After their service garage I found parking by turning right at the perimeter fence--helpful hint for all of you. I would definitely recommend this place. You won't be disappointed. It is amazing how these kinds of services are supposed to help us with our issues, that they promise us to give us excellent services, that will do the possible to solve and repair our problem, but they just want to get money in any way. The rear bumper of my Car was damaged and they just had to change that part, the car worked perfectly, and all that and they wanted to charge over 10 thousands for everything; but they started saying things like the car has to be in total loss, it was ridiculous. Supposedly things in the interior that were damaged, and others things. The overprice and the exaggeration of the things to get money for them is very noticeable and I just have the thing that they just want to leave someone without a car instead of helping them. Highly recommended! I scraped someone's bumper with my door in a parking lot. Even though my 23-year-old car has already got a number of dents, I was going to have to pay a deductible no matter what, so I took it to Caliber on W. Palm to have the scrape in the door fixed. Guillermo looked it over, and said if I wanted they could do a full repaint and repair, but because it was on both the door and the body, on an older car there was a chance that the insurance company would look at the cost and just total out the car. OR, he said, he could just buff out the scratch for free. Which he did. In about 7 minutes. He even took out some scratches on the bumper and the other side that've been there for years. No charge! My car hasn't looked that good in years! (Also everybody wore masks and social distanced, I felt very safe.) read more

Wish I never came here. I got rear ended and the estimated time was only supposed to take a week, but it ended taking up a month. The new parts installed where loose. They also didn't even manage to put new adhesive on the parts where it was needed. Final and worst problem was I just found out they didn't install a brake light bulb. I was in freeway traffic and a stranger informed me. I got home and no brake light at all, really upset because this doesn't only put me in danger but anyone behind me in danger. So I took my 2014 Jeep Wrangler about May of 2018. I was T-bone by a guy who was under the influence. After taking it in i got a call back with an estimate. After further review I was told by an employee that my front axle needed to get replace. My insurance said they would cover so I gave it the OK. In less then a week I was told my car was ready to be picked up, which I thought was crazy being that they needed to do body repair and replace my front axle. After picking it up I know something was wrong with my car when the whole ride home. There was a loud grinding noise and a crazy rattling noise. When I got home looked under and found that they didn't tighten the bolt and nut that held my one of my control arms together. I called them right away and drove my car back so they could look it over once more. In less then hour I got a call back saying everything looked fine and that they were going to take it to an offsite alinement place. After getting that done I still noticed the grinding noise and that the steering was still loose. So over the year I took it back about six time complaining that my car wasn't right and the last time I took it in an employee said that they don't even have a mechanic that works on cars and that they are just a auto body shop and not a mechanic shop. Long story short I had to call my insurance company and get them involved because Caliber Collision's employees kept changing their story saying that they worked on it then the next time I called they would say they don't fix things like axles. This is extremely shitty for a place to do. Now I'm waiting to hear from a real mechanic on what's wrong with my car and might get stuck with a couple thousand dollar bill. And I assume that this Freddy R. that thought this review Funny works at this location. Just shows you how they deal with their customers. Where do I begin... 1 Star for how nice the people were... And they did send someone to help, but we should have never been in this position in the first place. That being said, when it comes to business, I'm shocked. To start, we confirmed our car was ready and that we were on our way to pick it up. We arrive and they say, "sorry but everyone is out to lunch now so it'll be a few minutes..." Poor customer service practice already. So then, we get our car and the battery is low and the gas is below empty. I look at the paperwork and it shows a 12 mile difference in mileage from when it went in, and when it went out. But they didn't add any more gas cause heading straight to the closest gas station, we ran out, on the freeway. They literally ran the gas so low, we couldn't even make it a mile. By their own admission, they drove the car to get it realigned. I don't care what you had to do, where you had to take it, you replace the damn gas at the very least! And bill accordingly if you have to! And they ran the battery down low too?? What a joke! read more

I bought door guards at the Subaru dealership in Carlsbad. The dealership, Bob Barker, would not install them. Told me I could do it. NOT! I drove by Caliber, without an appointment, asked if they could do it. PEDRO who is a wonderful guy, immediately stopped what he was doing in the cool garage and attempted to install these door guards. My car was parked in the driveway in the direct sun, the temperature was definitely in the high 80's. Pedro tried to install these things but it turns out, the parts guy at Subaru, Bob Barker Subaru, sold me guards for the wrong model/year car. The door guards did not fit because they were for a different car. Pedro told me to please come back and he would install them. Do yourself a favor and stay away! I went in to have a scratch repaired and this shop broke perfectly good parts on my vehicle during the door disassembly. I had no choice but to pay for more than double the original estimate to get the door put back on so I could drive the vehicle again. On top of that, I found out later that the door wasn't reassembled properly and there's wind noise while driving because it doesn't full shut and seal like it used to! Now I have to find a competent body shop to fully repair the new damage that Caliber caused. read more

I was recently T-boned in a hit and run. Being my first accident, I was pretty shaken up, especially considering the offender escaped without repercussions. My insurance company (USAA) recommended Caliber Collisions and were able to do all the paperwork behind the scenes. Professional and Thorough They fixed a couple minor boo-boos on my car (I hate painted bumpers!). I clipped the garage backing out, & when I heard the crunch, I knew there was damage. I figured I'd have to make an appointment & that it would be time & big $$ to fix it, because all car repairs are more expensive than you think, what with electronics & all. But that day I had an appointment to keep, the blinkers worked, the radio worked, & so I put off the repair. I'd had body work done at Caliber Collision in the past (no, someone else hit my car), & I was in the area a few days later, so I pulled up & went in. Three-thirty in the afternoon. The receptionist did not express annoyance at my request (do you think someone could take a look at it?), & after a few minutes, a lovely young woman came out & introduced herself as O. She could not have been nicer as she checked the damage. She said she'd find someone else to take a look, & Rafa came out & took a look. He could not have been nicer. Said he'd have to write up a work order. After a few minutes, Francisco came out & took a look, then O came back out & asked for the car key. Pretty soon, O reappeared in the reception area where I was waiting & held out my key for me, & said "all done." What?!? For an instant I thought, okay, all done, & now I make an appointment to come back for the repair? But no, the repair was all done -- they put the car back together & were sending me on my way. All smiles, everyone happy, especially me! No appointment, no paperwork, no bill -- just all finished. I was astonished! It was four-ten in the afternoon. Amazing experience! I took my car there because USAA recommended them. Big mistake. The body work was OK, but their administration is horrible. Paid them in full and they lost the cashier's check. Then, 7 months later they tried to contact me saying I never paid them. They even sent me a certified letter demanding I pay them almost $1000 AGAIN! After calling the branch, they FINALLY admitted they lost the check for months and it was now expired. Funny thing is they never mentioned that the prior two times they attempted to get me to pay AGAIN. They had the check for well over 60 days in their possession, but were somehow too busy to deposit it? Beware, save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else! read more

I had the unfortunate circumstance of side swiping my car twice in a year, within a few months apart on the same section of the car. I took my car to Caliber Collision for repair both times. The first a time it came back perfect. The second time, a few months later, the same section was repaired and it came back not matching the rest of the car. I called Caliber and told them it didn't match this time, that there was too much metallic in it. They denied it, said they used the same paint, said this time it was simply polished more and if i wanted the car to match i had to pay to polish the whole car. I told them I really felt it was the wrong metallic and paying to polish the car would be a waste, they wouldn't even look at the car. I asked if i polished it and it still didn't match if they would repaint it, they said if it still didn't match it was due to fading. I pointed out that the car hadn't faded in a few months and they said that it's entirely possible. The customer wasn't right, which is terrible business practice. A year later I got the car completely detailed, buffed, waxed and wrapped. it took the guy 4 days. He said the metallic on the repaired section was different and had to work hard to make it blend better. He also said there was overspray on the top of the car, because Caliber didn't spend the few dollars extra to cover it. Obviously, Caliber doesn't correctly match the paint and sadly doesn't make good on it when a customer complains, I wonder if i was a male if they would have listened to me or if they still would have treated me like an idiot who doesn't know what she's talking about. Small front end damage on my 2019 BMW X5. Insurance covered all but deductible so I took vehicle to Calibur Collision on Palm in downtown San Diego. Great service from the start but, thanks to manager, John, best follow through ever. I needed the vehicle finished on a date certain and John personally made sure it was delivered on time. He noticed a service light on the dash and, after investigating (including consultation with BMW) determined it was probably a faulty reading. He let me take the vehicle and promised to follow up with BMW. A week later, John picked up my vehicle from my residence and took it to BMW for the sensor replacement. He then retrieved the vehicle from BMW ship and returned it to me after 5pm on a Friday. First class customer service. Five stars!! read more
