Simply amazing, best bbq I've had in a handful of states combined. The meat was all perfect, and I tried the brisket, pulled pork, sausage and turkey. They even gave me a pit tour seeing the process up close and hearing about how they smoke everything. Great atmosphere, even greater food, and amazing friendly service. This is one bbq spot you can't miss and have to try read more

We did a family pack for 4 . The brisket was very tender melt in mouth. Oh my friends in from Hawaii this is really really worth it.

Visited for dinner when we were close by and looking for a new place to try. This spot has an inviting atmosphere with the lights, picnic tables, and smokers outside. Inside where we ordered was a very friendly staff and was surprised how quickly our order was prepared. I got the Dixie V sandwich with Mac & Cheese. After visiting Texas over a month ago, I can honestly say this was the best BBQ I've had. The brisket with the AZ Gold was incredible. Their mac is so good too with the blend that's in it. I love when a restaurant I've never been to beats my expectations & more! read more

The food and the service is amazing!!! I think their family meal deal is great! You can't go wrong with their banana pudding. They have plenty of seating and it is very clean :) read more

After having our fun at pecan lake, we heard of the small place that opened up. Drove from the far west valley to go and bring home a full brisket. Was not disappointed. Keep up the good work, will see you soon and def sharing with friends and family. read more

Our family came to Arizona for our niece's graduation and Mother's Day. We were treated to Caldwell County BBQ by our brother. As a 43 year resident of San Antonio, and the son of a 40 year San Antonio resident who now lives in Mesa, I have to agree that Caldwell is as good as BBQ from Texas. I was very impressed by the flavor, the cut, and the tenderness of the brisket. The turkey was also excellent, and the sausage with cheese was great. All of the sides I had were excellent, including the potato salad, the mac and cheese, and the corn casserole. The somewhat spicy BBQ sauce was wonderful. I also sampled the Arizona gold BBQ sauce and it was pretty darn good, too. Overall very impressed! read more

Some of the best BBQ in the valley. I've had the brisket, Turkey & pork, all were bomb. You get peppers/pickles/onions as well on the side with most dishes, if that's your jam. I actually prefer sitting on the patio here when it's open, nice atmosphere with good music and misters when it's hot. The parking lot can be a little tricky when it's busy but nothing too crazy. If you're in the area and craving good BBQ give them a shot, they never disappoint. read more

3.5 stars, if I had the option to do it. Found this place by accident. There's a recycle place on the same road, and I was dropping off my recycle stuff when I spotted Caldwell. The YELP reviews seemed really positive, so I made a note to return. And return I did. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A lady who was busing tables greeted me, apparently deduced it was my first time, and gave me a quick run-down. I went over to the line and contemplated what I would order. I went with some of their pulled pork, a half rack of ribs, and their bbq salad, and took it to-go. I looked at their beans, and they appeared to be ordinary pintos. Kinda disappointing. But the "corn casserole" looked interesting, so I got some. The quick summary is that it is pricey, but pretty good. They have two sauces, and they gave me some of each. The "spicy" sauce isn't really that spicy, so don't let the name scare you. The meats were all done properly. There was some smoke flavor, I think mesquite. It could have been more robust, but it was there. Wife and daughter really liked the BBQ salad (with brisket). They used the BBQ sauce instead of the salad dressing. I made a sandwich out of the pulled pork (used my all-natural wheat buns). The pork needed the sauce. As I said, the smokiness was mild and they may not have used a rub (or if they did, it was mild). It was good pork on it's own, but the sauce really was helpful to give more of a BBQ flavor. In my opinion, really good BBQ doesn't need sauce. The ribs also were good. Just tender enough that the meat still stuck to the bone but came off easily when biting into it. Flavor was nice, sauce not needed. The corn casserole was different, and tasty. I would recommend this side. Joe's Real BBQ is a bit less expensive, features homemade root beer, and has a better variety of sides. Plus their meats generally have a stronger flavor. So when comparing to that I really can't get myself to four stars here. Caldwell County was pretty good, but I would probably choose Joe's given that the drive to each is about the same for me. read more

Delicious! and amazing customer service. The moment we walked in Pit Master Steve welcomed us with a small town hospitality. All the food was top notch. The beef ribs were out of this world! You gotta visit and enjoy the atmosphere and food. Thanks Steve and Caldwell County BBQ! read more

Pit Master Steve was amazing. He was so informative and helpful! I hope he's working every time I come.

Great Texas BBQ done right. We had the brisket sandwiches with Mac and cheese and corn pudding . Tables were clean, sauce was optional. All 3 sauces are worth trying. Served on butcher paper with onions, pickles and jalapeños. A wonderful discovery for a home sick Texan. read more

Excellent barbecue really bad parking situation hard to get in and out best to park across the street. Sides are and the staff friendly.

Fun ambience and food was great! My husband got the pulled pork sandwich with Mac n cheese. Being a vegetarian, I got their corn casserole and Mac n cheese! The quantity was very filling and food was delicious. The staff is very kind and do not rush you, which is great! I wish they had the bbq jackfruit, it would be awesome! We can't wait to visit again! read more

Ok let's do this. I know BBQ is a highly contentious food review thing. There's different styles and everyone has their favorite hole in the wall place that they call "the best". Caldwell wins. The location is neat gives the outdoor yard party vibe, huge smokers outside with guys that look like they LOVE what they are doing. You order inside, the folks at the counter are friendly and not a friendly "because they have to" it's because they look like they are actually enjoying their job! Now onto the food. The brisket? Perfect The ribs? Melt in your mouth The smoked turkey? Phenomenal Pulled pork? Wonderful So yes, come for the food, but enjoy the service that honestly so refreshing that it's worth the ride out here!! read more

I'm from Texas and have looked for Texas style bbq in AZ for the last 30 years and seriously this place is top 3 in the state. I could eat there everyday. If you want a mix of the different meats they have order the El General Patton. Sides are awesome great out door space too. Love it. read more

The BBQ here is extremely solid for the price. We got the family meal for $100 that included brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and two sides. It was excellent quality and value, and the leftovers kept well for another couple of meals. The staff also gave us as many sauces as we liked and were very kind and accommodating. I would say this places rivals Little Miss for the availability and price of the food. Definitely a must go if you're shopping at American Furniture next door. read more

As the poster says hanging on the wall, "If Texas and Arizona had a baby" this place would be it! As I arrived outside, my BBQ senses rose to new heights seeing the 3 massive smokers which were converted from propane tanks, including their own hot boxes, counter weighted doors and generous smoke stacks. As I entered the dining area through the back eating patio I could smell the meat. Cooked with 100% mesquite logs that surround the entire building and cooking area, I was hoping this place was a gem and I was right. A great simple menu is what always shines for me at a BBQ joint. You can order all meats by weight and it's priced by the pound. I ordered a 1/2 slab of the pork ribs and 1/2 pound of moist brisket. You can order lean but the moist was completely fat free and juicy as can be (there is a secret Jimmy the Pit Master showed me but I'm not giving it away here). Jimmy gave me an extensive tour of the smokers, and back kitchen where the magic happens. The ribs here are smoked for 6 hrs and the brisket for 12. The ribs and brisket had the perfect bark developed with the simple dry rub salt and pepper mix which is classic Texas BBQ. The ribs were moist and perfectly smoked. They pulled off the bone 100% clean. You could shake a rib and be assured meat would not come flying off. Perfection. The sauces that sit on the table are Classic, Sweet and Spicy and a classic Mustard base you find in places like the Salt Lick in Texas. The service here was fantastic but expect to wait in line as everything is hand cut and made to order. For the sides, the Lemon Poppy SeeD Coleslaw was amazing. Lemon nicely blended with the vinegar and sugar to make a great flavor but not overly lemon tasting. The corn casserole incredible. Nice thick and smooth texture with whole corn and small flecks of jalapeño gave just the right amount of flavor and warmth without being overly spicy. Thanks to Jimmy for showing me his process and giving me a private taste of his pork butt right off the smoker. This is now on my Top BBQ places in the Western U.S. to visit. This place is right up there with my all time favorite, The Salt Lick in Texas, and other great BBQ places. You won't find the fancy sandwich combos like Joes but when it comes to the meat, ordering to go by the pound and incredible sides, this is serious competition to those iconic places. If Texas and Arizona made a baby, I would be adopting! 5 stars. read more

This place is a hidden treasure. Delicious does not even begin to due thier BBQ justice. Finally got to stop in the other day for lunch and it was amazing. My husband who is very hard too please said the brisket was juicy and flavorful. I had the leaner brisket option and it did not disappoint. Drier but still flavorful. They have indoor and outdoor seating and the staff is warm, welcoming, and very friendly. Menu is simple offering brisket, pulled pork, turkey, and ribs. Order by the pound or get a sandwich and side item for a smaller bite. All their BBQ sauces are terrific too. Definetly will be back and highly recommend to anyone loving BBQ. read more

Brought home an assortment of meats and sides a couple of weeks ago, and wasn't 100 percent pleased. That was obviously a complete anomaly. I read all the great reviews and decided to retry this place. Owners/ mgt. Read my mediocre review and contacted me. Generously offered me a retry, on them. Spencer was a complete gentleman, and convinced me that they really care about their family reputation. So glad I did! Ribs were perfect, smoky, meaty and tasty. Thoroughly enjoyed them with the mustard/ vinegar sauce. My wife thought the pulled pork one of the best she's ever had. Smoky, juicy with a perfect texture, not soft and mushy. Brisket moist and delicious. Generous portions, quality BBQ. We will most definitely be returning often. read more

Food is awesome! Love the sauces. The gold sauce is so good, we buy bottles of it to bring home and put on wings

Best Coleslaw in all of AZ. Not soaked in white goop. Refreshing and lemony but not too much! It's perfection. Also best ribs in AZ. Love this place, we used them for our Easter meal and my son was so happy. Don't forget to try their sister place Caldwell MexiQ tacos! They're yummy. read more

This place was amazing. We told them it was our first time through and the gave us a full tour of their smoking pit. Fantastic customer service, samples of their meat when you walk in the door, and food that is awesome. We split the family meal for 4 and we were all so full we couldn't finish it. Definitely recommend!!!! read more

Came here by accident! Sooo glad we did. Amazing BBQ - super tender & flavorful. We loved the House & Sweet & Spicy sauce. Then the jalapeño cheese sausage was pretty nom nom too. The Mac & cheese wasn't so great, but the corn casserole & potato salad more than made up for that. Ambiance is super cute & country - it's cool to see the giant BBQ smokers & wood burning in them to cook the meats. They have misters for the outdoor picnic bench dining & maybe a dozen indoor tables. Everything is first come first serve & you order up at the front, get your food, then go sit. The service was really nice as well - everyone was personable & helpful. We will definitely be back here again. read more

Fantastic food and service!! I also love the fact that you can go outside now and sit under the yard lights at the picnic tables. It is just a great vibe! read more

I came here with some coworkers last week. The place is awesome. I love how the seating is set up and the layout. We sat inside this time. The service was excellent too. The cutter gave us a piece of brisket and it was excellent. I got the sandwhich that had brisket, pulled pork and sausage. Holy $hit those meats were excellent. I like the mustard based sauce at the table too. The beans were good. The coleslaw was good. Ill try the potato salad next time. I cant wait to come back. read more

Have ate here twice, both time the food was very good. I really like their brisket. I wish they had more of a traditional single combo plate, ribs and a meat. Also the inside seating area is a little small and crowded, but there is plenty of outdoor seating. read more

Love the food, love the atmosphere. This has become a staple for our family to take visiting friends and family to. The inviting and open patio is perfect for small and large groups as they have picnic style seating. Inside they have smaller four and two tops. The food is fantastic. We have eaten lunch and dinner there multiple times and the brisket is our favorite. They have great turkey and ribs as well. We have gotten both for Thanksgiving two years in a row and it has been the best and warms up perfectly. The sides are drool worthy. The Mac and cheese has a little tiny kick but enough to make your mouth happy. The beans have the perfect char taste to them and the corn casserole is perfection and definitely one to not miss. We also love the spicy bbq sauce they make in house. read more

Not a bad place. Friendly staff. Super polite and attentive!! At 4:30pm they were out of ribs which was disappointing. Brisket and pulled pork was very good. The Coleslaw was really good! Over all great experience. Get there before 5pm or it will be like Disneyland without a fast pass line! read more

I do not understand how everyone has not given this a 5 star! From the first moment we ate here it immediately became our most favorite. We have a larger family so we get some of everything. It's a cute place with indoor and outdoor seating. Self serve soda machine is nice. There is a big sink to wash up after. They are always so friendly. IF THE LINE IS LONG DO NOT WORRY!! It does move quickly! IF THE SMALL PARKING LOT IS FULL DO NOT WORRY!! Just park across the street. My husband is the meat guy. I am the sides girl. We have never been disappointed with anything. All the meats have always been perfectly juicy and tender. Always. We have eaten every type of meat they have and love them all! All the side are delicious. But that corn casserole if like dessert. Speaking of desert they recently added texas sheet cake. Their prices did go up, but isn't this standard in our world right now? Quick story, my daughter in laws father stayed with us and he LOVES bbq. Like his favorite food, eats it everywhere. He tried a couple other local places and we kept telling him Caldwell Country BBQ is the BEST anywhere. We don't think he believed us until we were there. He was shocked at how much better it was than anywhere else in the valley. It immediately became his favorite place, too! read more

Best barbecue in the area been about 15 times. I've gotten everything on their menu outstanding,

Brisket was amazing, a little dry on the lean cut but still absolutely amazing. Also had Mac n cheese that was delicious, always hard to find good Mac but this place nailed it. Great Brisket OK Ribs, PASS ON the Sausage and MacCheese. Perfect environment and customer service.

I'm definitely coming back to this place and bringing family. This is some of the best bbq I've ever had. While ordering they plate your food so no need to wait long. We ordered the El General Patton, East Side Pig, Aunt Susan's Corn Casserole, Julio's Mac 'N Cheese, and and extra Sausage Link. This fed me and my boyfriend well. Please don't sleep on the corn casserole, this was one of my favorite sides. I loved the outside area there was cute lights and plenty of seating. read more

Sorry for the late review been busy so on July 4 I decided to cater food from Caldwell. I ordered brisket corn casserole. Pull pork and ribs it was delicious. More importantly, I didn't have to stand outside in the heat barbecuing and it was not that expensive. I love Caldwells. Staff is excellent. read more

Someone took my review down, so minus one star. Otherwise, the turkey was great and my side dish was excellent too.

As part of my trip to the far east side of the valley (that is relative to me) for a furniture store, I found myself turning my head as I got out the car smelling BBQ. Once that smell hit my nose, I kept thinking the BBQ was coming from the Cafe inside... After I realized it wasn't, I was completely useless when it came to furniture shopping. All I had on my mind was that bbq... Located just across the way from American Furniture. After the shopping experience decided to head over and grab some barbecue on the go as I wasn't hungry at the time but the smell alone had me intrigued.(note, the parking lot isn't very big so if you have time, just walk over) The menu is limited but when it comes to BBQ, I like for it to be simple. Normally I would want some fries, but they aren't an option. I kept it simple with the beans and julio's mac and cheese (a bit dry, but I did take it home). Got the pulled pork and ribs. Overall good BBQ. A bit far for me to make a return visit just because, but when I'm in the area, this place comes to mind!. Update: Brisket the next time around was really good and decided to get the Dixie V Chopped Brisket sandwich for later. Also good. They are running some promo where if you buy a shirt (and wear it when you visit) while ordering a meal/sandwich you get a free fountain drink. read more
