Keepin it real out here in AZ! This location added to the wonderful experience we had on our AZ trip. Couldn't have asked for a better BBQ experience both for the food and the vibe of the place. The smokers were impressive in the outdoor area. The staff were super attentive even after the ordering process (for a self sit down type of spot). We did let the food get cold cause we took our time taking pictures and video but they still tasted fire. If given a chance to go back to the area will def try it out again! read more

We were visiting Mesa for a week, we went here twice, it's delicious! The brisket was amazing!!

Outstanding BBQ! When we first walked up we saw them grilling on the BBQ and it smelt amazing!!! Everyone inside was very nice, quick, efficient and overall great customer service. We sat on the patio in the back. It has a lot of shade from the umbrellas with big picnic tables. It was fun to sit outside, rocking out to country music and smelling the grill. It felt as if I was hanging out with friends in a backyard. 10/10 recommend the overall experience!! *oh and the bbq sauce they make in house, still drooling* read more

This is one of the best BBQ places I have dined at so far. Service was quick and efficient, staff were very friendly, and the area was very inviting. I was told that this place can get quite busy but I didn't wait too long around lunch time on a Saturday. I really enjoyed the brisket sample I received. My husband ordered half a rack of ribs and I ordered a sandwich. For sides we got their lemon poppyseed coleslaw, Mac and cheese, and corn casserole. Everything was very tasty! You can taste the rub and nothing seem overly seasoned or heavy handed with sauces. I have no complaints. Parking is available but can be a bit difficult to maneuver around as there is only one way in/out. There are outside and inside seating areas. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area! It's on the right side of American Warehouse Furniture. read more

First time here and I'm blown away! Delicious BBQ and lovely atmosphere. Thanks Lynae and all the crew! Would suggest adding a hammock outside to sleep off the food coma. We'll be back soon!! read more

This place went from non busy to a last eatery on earth within minutes during lunch. The management had to redirect the traffic to a one-way flow, order from one door and exit from the other. This kind of traffic can only mean one thing, absolutely great food! Even though it was pricey, it was totally worth it! Definitely try the Turkey, it's AMAZING! Service quick and friendly, lots of indoor and outdoor seating. read more

Ate at the Queens Creek location about a month ago and everything was delicious and the staff was amazing. The food reminded us of the salt lick bbq in Austin TX. I have a gluten allergy and the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Will definitely be back when we visit AZ again read more

Really good bbq. The brisket is so good as well as the pulled pork. Highly recommend.

We drove an hour to try their food. And it was worth it. The staff were very nice. The pit masters welcomed us hello and also said bye as we left. It was clean inside and out. Lots of seating. Torrin went out of his way to make sure everything was great, sat and talked to us for a few minutes, made us feel like family. He's a great asset to this establishment, you can tell he truly loves his job. Great atmosphere great food. Definitely gives terry blacks a run for its money. Next time I'm in town I'll be back . The pulled pork is seasoned so well, you don't even need sauce in it. The brisket just falls apart, tries both lean and fatty, both amazing. The turkey is moist with great flavor. read more

My husband and I visited the Peoria location and it was FANTASTIC! The food, flavors and portions were all tremendous. Pricing was on point which made my eyes bigger than my stomach LOL. The staff was friendly and courteous as us newbies held up the lunch line. Can't wait to come back for dinner and bring more family. I love the decor, inside and out, as well as the merchandise - FUN! Caldwell's is top notch BBQ here in AZ and will definitely make other pit places say, "hmm - we better step our game up!" As a true southerner, I'm very picky when it comes to bbq. I've had the luxury of living in Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia for 23 out of my 24 years, so those are my "BBQ critic credentials." I got the Dixie V sandwich. The brisket was great! They have an assortment of sauces as well. I put the house sauce and AZ Gold on my sandwich. Both delicious! Loved the amount of pickles they served too. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 because I believe the mac and cheese could've been better. It was more like a cheesy macaroni salad. Still yummy! Just not what I expected especially at a BBQ place (cue my southerner spiel). I would've liked a traditional mac better, but that's totally my opinion. Service was great and super friendly. I got there around 11:05 (they open at 11) and there were already a handful of people there in front of me/seated! By the time I left, the place was crowded with a long line. I can understand why as this place gave me my bbq comfort food fix. I'm not in the Gilbert area much but I will be back! read more

Food was amazing and reasonably priced. Very busy operation. Enjoyed the premium brisket sandwich. Excellent taste, not too fatty.

This place is worth every single penny. The Best BBQ I have ever ate in my life. Super good food, the sides were so delicious. The brisket was killer, turkey was so soft, pulled pork was insane. I would go here every day if I could. The customer service was amazing, everyone super friendly and kind and makes sure you are well taken care of. The place was extremely clean and well organized. I'm gonna rate it a 11/10. You have to go here. read more

Amazing food. It was cooked to perfection and the flavor was perfection. The service was fast, friendly and professional. Loved the managers coming to talk to us. They were so genuine. Thank you for a great experience. read more

Met a contractor for business lunch, we stepped inside and were immediately greeted and offered samples of their brisket and pulled pork, both meats had a nice smoke ring and were very juicy. I chose the "Dixie V" brisket sandwich with a side of coleslaw for lunch and my friend ordered the "General Patton" sandwich. The brisket was very tender and did not have a strong smoke flavor to it. I put their house BBQ sauce on the meat, and it paired well with the brisket. I was pleasantly surprised with the lemon poppy coleslaw, it was crunchy, seasoned well, and dressed perfectly not too wet not to dry, it was pretty good coleslaw which seems hard to find these days. I watched as the line to order food grew longer but the service remained quick and friendly. Next time I go back I want to take on the "General Patton" sandwich it looked fantastic and very hearty! read more

Caldwell County BBQ - Barbeque Near Me - Gilbert, Arizona

Did a little search of the area after a long hike and this place popped up. It had good reviews and they were not wrong. When we arrived, there was quite a line. Apparently the front door is basically useless because the line wraps around back. I will say the workers were incredibly fast and even though the line looked daunting, it was only about 15 to 20 minutes of a wait. I got a barbecue sandwich and a side. The barbecue was incredible. Tender pulled pork and amazing sauce options. The potato salad was good in a neutral kind of way. Nothing unique about it, but the benefit of that is that it is a certain crowd pleaser. Everything tasted really good quality. I like that they don't use frozen meat and seem a little more local oriented. There were a few vegetarian/vegan options, which I always appreciate, especially at a barbecue place. They also were creative in terms of how you ordered - you could get a plate or combine a few things. They also had some homemade desserts that looked delicious. They have a very nice story about how they came about and the passion behind the business. I appreciate the combination of Arizona and Texas and how intentional they were. Even the beers were from either Texas or Arizona and it felt nice to support local. Of course they had some basic ones as well but the diverse options they offered that were fit what we were looking for. The price is not cheap, but the food is certainly worth every penny. The outdoor seating is an absolute delight. All of the staff were incredibly friendly, and the place was super clean. They could probably use a few more bathrooms, but nobody was really left waiting too long. They run a tight ship but do a great job making you feel welcome and not rushed read more

I went in there to get food to go. It's my son's favorite bbq. I was blown away how busy they are. The line moves fast. The customer service is off the charts. I was overwhelmed by the amount of people and the noise level. Lanae helped me checkout. She made sure I had everything I needed for a great meal. She was so calm, helpful and friendly. I spoke with another associate about the growth since the last time I was there about six years ago. She was super friendly and informative. They were so pleasant! So rare these days! Got home with everything and the food was cooked perfectly and so tasty. They have a goldmine. That place is beyond delicious. Great employees... I just love that place! read more

We just moved to Tempe and our son from Dallas gave us a gift card for Caldwell BBQ. It was so good & the staff was so friendly & welcoming. My husband had pork ribs I had a brisket slider, our sides were the delicious corn casserole, coleslaw & pinto beans. So good. Andrew came over to see how we were enjoying our dinner & later introduced us to John who showed us how he was smoking the briskets in those huge smokers. They treated us like family. We'll definitely be back. read more

So glad we came here for dinner, it's certainly something to rave about. General Paton is a sandwich that has sausage, brisket and pulled pork. All the meat was juicy, tender and delish...the sides such as corn casserole, cold slaw, Mac and cheese and potato salad were equally tasty. Let me back up and and give you and over view starting from the beginning. Upon entering you will be greeted with food counter where you order. There wasn't a line when we were here so not much time for us to study the menu on the wall. Aside from sandwiches and sides, you can order the meat by the pound/family style. We ordered ours individually. The indoor dining are is large but most people headed outside where there's even a bigger dining area with string of lights hanging overhead, it's a cool country outdoor atmosphere with country music playing in the background. It smells heavenly here. In fact, we all had the BBQ smell on our clothes hours after. They have another location just opened only a few miles from here that serves all this plus tacos. We enjoyed our visit, everything is delicious. There wasn't a line when we were here so no waiting for us. We strongly recommend. read more
