No better deal than 2 entreés and a bottle of wine for less than $40 (Sunday through Thursday nights). My friend and I both went with the Steak Portuguese Style, which came with fries and rice. The portion size was substantial and the egg on top of the steak was te perfect touch! My only complaint in terms of the food was that we ordered vegetables on the side and those sides were really small. The restaurant itself was pretty nice and there was plenty of seating. Our waitress was very sweet and helped us select our bottle of wine. If I had a place like this closer to me in Boston, I'd be there all the time. Really can't go wrong!

A staple for my family and I since I was a young child for solid Portuguese food. The staff and owner are very friendly.

Chicken Mozambique w/ double rice, no fries

We came for their dinner for 2 specials. Bottle of wine and 2 dinners from a list of options. We opted for shrimp Mozambique appetizer after we found out the crab cakes are no longer an option, despite it still being on the menu. I got Salmon w/ double veg & he got Chicken Mozambique w/ double rice, no fries. Starting with the good - big portions, fast & friendly service, nice casual atmosphere. The downside would be that we had to ask for salt & pepper shakers to add some flavor to the food. Granted, I NEVER ask for salt. I feel like I'm sensitive to over salted food, but this was a major exception. It was just meh. For some big portion comfort food, it's a staple for the locals and the 2 for $40 deal is hot. Good deal for the money. That would certainly be enough to make me come back.

This was a real deal local Portuguese restaurant, European feel, authentic dishes and set up. Traveling and staying in the area. This is my second night eating local food for the area and having a great time. I went for the baked scrod tonight with veggies and mashed potatoes, a cold beer, then a proper espresso after dinner. I sat at the the bar had excellent service , the fish was buttery and tender, not over spiced , really liked the atmosphere . Highly recommend!

Caldeiras Restaurant is a great place for Portuguese cuisine in Fall River. My family and I enjoyed our time here. From the outside, it's fairly nondescript, but it does have parking, which is a bonus. Inside is fine, though perhaps a bit dated. Aside from the aesthetics, the only other areas that were lacking were the bread and the wine list. I felt like the bread wasn't as flavorful as I'd hoped, especially compared to the roll I'd just eaten prior to visiting. I wished the wine list was more extensive and more focused on Portuguese wines and offer more wines by the glass. They had one vinho verde glass option, and it was Casal Garcia, so pretty basic. A bit disappointed with bread and wine. However, food and service were overall fantastic. Our server was amazing and someone (perhaps the owner) came to check on us (and others), so that was appreciated. I ordered the fried calamari, bacalhau na braza, and tiramisu, along with the vinho verde glass. My dad and stepmom ordered a cup of soup, paella, the triple chocolate dessert, and a Super Bock beer. We loved it all and had leftovers. The calamari was crispy and the sauce addictive. The soup was full of vegetables. My cod was delicious and beautifully presented. The paella perfectly cooked, though there could have been less chicken and more seafood. Desserts were divine. I could definitely convince the folks to make the trip to Fall River by promising them we will eat at Caldeiras. And I will be more than happy to return.

We've been going here for years. Always had amazing food, great service in a beautiful atmosphere. The last time we were here was March 14...just before COVID closed everything. On every visit I have ordered the Portuguese soup and Alcatra a Terceirense (beef cooked in a clay pot). It is one of the most delicious dinners I've ever eaten. We decided to stop at Caldeiras yesterday on our way back from Cape Cod. We arrived late in the afternoon and there was only one other person in the restaurant. We were promptly seated and given menus. We made our selections...2 bowls of Portuguese soup and we both ordered Alcatra a Terceirense from the menu. Our server informed us they weren't offering that dinner anymore because the price of beef went up and they didn't want to increase their prices. Whaaat? Why is it still on the paper menus? Why not go up on the price if people want it? You still have other beef selections, why not that. We made new selections. My partner ordered Bife a Chefe and I ordered Alentejana. They were ok (except they are doing the potatoes different than before on the Bife a Chefe and my partner hated them). Sorry Caldeiras, nothing exceptional anymore.

Excellent Portuguese cuisine in the heart of Fall River, not too far from Portugalia, that emporium of all things good to eat and drink in Portugal. We opted to share a bunch of appetizers so that we could try many things. We had: clams sauteed in olive oil, garlic, and beer; shrimps mocambique; codfish (bacalao) cakes; and fried calamari. They were simply outstanding. The clams were my favorite, briny and winey, with a terrific broth well-suited for addictively sopping bread in. The shrimp was also very good, with a bit of a bite at the end, just enough heat to show you that it's not to be taken for granted. The codfish cakes were so light, creamy, and unctuous that I almost ordered a second round. The calamari was delicious with a light, friable batter and accompanied by a kick-ass sauce. Of course we needed to try the desserts: our server (who was also very pleasant and attentive) recommended the chocolate trilogy, a cylinder of dark and light mousses - this was very smooth and rich, not overly sweet; and we also had the passion fruit mousse, which was pure essence of the fruit, and very very good.

    Sopa a Portuguesa

Great food, great service. The prices are in point for the area. If you are in the Fall River area, and you are looking for some really good Portuguese cuisine. I highly recommend Caldeiras Restaurant.

Dinner for two wine. Really good.

Dinner for two plus extras. Portuguese wine very good. Chicken soup, very good, 4.5* Bread, not impressive. Rice good Mozambique sauce 5* Steak 4.5*, cooked perfectly. Egg on top of steak 2*, cooked solid, should be runny. Suggest you ask for soft when ordering. Service 5* Tiramisu, good taste, not enough cake, and the cake was not dense enough. 3.8* All in all a really good dining experience. This is yet another restaurant that I would go to on a regular basis if it was not so far from home.

    Front cover

Excellent service : ) Wide menu with traditional flavors. Wine selection available. Popular spot. Only thing is parking is a little tough- there are side street parking. Would cross the 195 bridge to come back!

I lingered with a glass, reading my book while soulful music softly played, quiet conversations among the few other patrons drifted in and out of my consciousness, and the plaintive cries of seagulls outside were occasionally audible. Whimsical posters dressed up the plain but cozy room (a rabbit in a pink bathrobe holding a bottle of champagne and divers leaping into a wine glass). I could have spent all afternoon there, reading and sipping. But I had places to be. If I stayed longer I might have tried some of the food. It's more in the line of light snacks than an actual meal, mostly cold, but they were more interesting than the standard charcuterie plate offered by similar venues, and I liked that they listed the country or state of origin of everything. For dessert, how about a slice of cheesecake from Chill's of Warren, RI - or a flight of 3 for $21! Beer lovers, don't fear Coastal Bubbles. Menu listed five, all of which I've never heard of, from Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, and Portugal, sure to interest the connoisseur. The menu that day included 25 wines by the glass. Their high-tech "Coravin System" keeps the open bottles fresh, and my Croation Matsuško was flawless in that respect. Port lovers might try the "100 Years Of Port Flight": the 10, 20, 30, and 40 year vintages of Van Zellers. I'll be doing that next time, with the cheesecake.

My friend knows much more about wine than I do, so he was the decision maker for our wine choices and we ordered a 1/2 bottle of red which we both found to be very delicious. We opted for the meat charcuterie, and it was beautifully presented with enough for the two of us to share. There is also a cheese charcuterie on the menu, but unfortunately there is not an option for a combined meat and cheese plate. We sat, sipped, and tasted for a while and never felt rushed. I can browse a liquor store & pick out a bottle that exactly fits my preferences, my mood, & my budget. I can bring it home & uncork the wine, checking the cork for freshness. I can pull out my special glassware & pour myself a glass of wine & enjoy it on my own couch. So why go out to a wine bar, if not for the wine? For me, it's for the ambience & the experience. Both of those things at Providence Wine Bar were lacking. The lights were too bright (overhead & fluorescent) & the music was too loud (& just bad). The employees seemed both bored & nervous, with not much to do to occupy themselves. I was one of the only people in the bar, so I felt like I was under scrutiny - I'm certain this wasn't intentional but it was unfortunately how it came across. I brought a book but couldn't focus because of the lights & the music. I even caught myself with my fingers in my ears, trying to muffle the sounds of 2010s hyper pop. I have nothing against 2010s hyperpop, it's just that there's a time & place for everything, & maybe that isn't at a wine bar at 8 PM on a Wednesday. I just wanted to be done with my glass of wine so that I could leave. All of that being said, I wish them the best. It seems like they need a good manager's touch.

The storytelling and personal connection was missing, and made the experience feel a bit hollow. The space was a nice open hang and there's snacks and games, and there is staff there, but the experience made me realize I prefer a guided human tour for some things, wine tasting being one of them. Prices also snuck up on us a bit, it's easy to lose count of how many you've had with the card reader. I was also a bit bummed to find that if you liked a wine you cannot purchase a bottle on site.
