Came here a few weeks ago with my parents. Parking is a bit weird but ok. We didn't wait long but we went early. Maybe about 5 pm. We ordered half chicken with português stuffing, vegetable and potatoes. Wow!! I couldn't believe the amount of food! Everything was delicious! I loved it. My father ordered a seafood dish that he enjoyed. We got the house wine which was great. The server, I wish I could remember his name, was phenomenal! He was very patient and helpful with the menu. When out for an old school Portuguese steak, fried egg, and round fries. I used to come here with my parents and it is now the place I go to when back in town and I want good Portuguese food. We were a party of 9 and all got our food within minutes from each other. We had steaks, chicken, and fish meals. Not a single complaint and the food was flavorful. My only 2 issues are: if you order the steak medium it will come out medium well and it took some time for the food to come out (there was 9 of us in the party though). Stopped in here after a bridal appt nearby after a local recommended. As soon as I walked in I realized this must be a local place with locals sitting around the bar eating their meals quitely. What is the saying - if no one is talking the food must be damn good? My fiance and I both ordered different steak dishes and the sauce was so good. My family was craving some authentic Portuguese food (since we don't have a lot of options in California), so we dropped by Terra Nostra to fill fill that void in our bellies. This place does seem very mafiaesque, good description. An elegant, classy type of mafia though. Some hard working Portuguese construction workers were at the bar taking a load off so if you are fond of the drink, this place would be a good consideration. The waitress was prompt with our order and gave us plenty of time to browse the menu. Waiting for the food was another story entirely. I'm pretty sure the the cook forgot to come into work that day because our order took FOREVER to get to us. I had the Portuguese Steak Sandwich with fries. I have only been inside the restaurant a few times to sit down and have dinner but my family usually does take out frequently. Every time we have been satisfied with our order ( usually we order Portuguese steak, chicken mozambique and chicken fingers for the kids.) The staff is friendly and welcoming. I ate here with my family in January of this year. I've been meaning to go back, but it is a little bit pricey for me and the portions are not that big. Most of my family ordered little necks and steak/potatoes/something like that. It looked very good and plentiful but I don't like little necks so I passed. I ordered kale soup and crab cakes. I didn't pay, so I can't really recall the costs. I want to say that the kale soup was 3.75 and it was a pretty small portion. It was delicious, though, I wouldn't say worth the price for what it was. The crab cakes were cooked wonderfully and had a slice of lemon on the side. Came for a birthday lunch on a Saturday. Decor not its strong point. Party ordered the house steak, codfish, and arroz de marisco. The marisco was ok but some of the octopus was overcooked. The three of us were all pleased with our meals, the wine the waitress recommended, a red called Adegaborba was excellent, the fish cake appetitizer was light and very good, I really liked the Portuguese Bean pie for dessert. On the down side, the bar was too close to the dinning room, making it a bit to noisy and the shrimp in the shrimp mozambique still had the vein in. This was a great place for my wife and i this week. we usually try a number of resteraunts and this one is top notch portuguese!!! i love the kale soup, warms you right up. and my wife enjoys the shrimp very much so. i got the pork and little necks and was not disapointed, they give you a large amount and its so delicious! the wait staff is all very friendly and they all know what there doing, not doddling around like a lot of these young kids do now. this is a great place and we will surley be returning for another great experience. read more

We decided to go here for my mother's birthday celebration since she hadn't been to this particular restaurant since we were children. We thought it'd be a nice nostalgia experience for her. Of course it being a Saturday night, we knew it'd be a little wait time especially going in a big group. We sat down and there was bread on the table, mind you with no butter. As we sat there, the waiter came out with the menus and didn't return for the longest time while there were more people walking into the room. We sat there for what felt like 15 minutes before he finally returned with lo and behold the butter and to get our drink choices. Again, we waited for our drinks (only 3 of us had ordered wine out of 9 people) and as we waited, we grew more and more impatient as we watched everyone around us get their drinks and foods so smoothly. Of course we start to get upset and even thought about just leaving when the waiter finally came back with the drinks and was about to walk away again but had to tell him no, we're going to order our food now. We all knew what we wanted by that point. He took our orders down and already from looking on the menu earlier, we knew it'd be another 45 minutes on top wait for the food. Poor children we had with us were starving by this point and restless. We had arrived at the restaurant 6:30 and didn't leave until almost 9:00. The only thing I remembered when we dined here was the service sucks!!! The dining area is located at the back. The front room consisted of the bar area. It was a nice gentleman who waited on us but everything was just sloooowwww. There were diners who came after us and they were served first. This gave me and my bf sour faces. He was embarrassed coz he apologized profusely but c'mon. I go out to eat and pay for the service, to be waited on, so I don't have to cook and waste time waiting. Never mind the mediocre taste of the food. We don't know why this particular waiter was so slow. The restaurant wasn't packed at all. There were lots of empty tables. Then we heard another couple from another table yell at a waitress and said, "We've been waiting for a long time for our water!". We opted not to order dessert coz we were already upset. But my bf, being Portuguese lie he is, has to have a cappuccino after every meal. So he ordered one. We've been looking at our clocks the whole time, it wasn't a relaxing experience at all. We waited and waited, and finally my bf got up to look for this waiter. And what do you know, he was at the other room, at the bar, BARTENDING!!! So all this time he was doing these two jobs. It was horrible!!! We, the diners, suffered from this consequence. My bf demanded for his cappuccino there. Waiter apologized again when he came back but this was just too much. This place needs to up their game coz there's so much competition in the area. Our whole dining experience was ruined. (Forget that the coffee tasted burned.) Tried Terra Nostra for the first time yesterday & I will not be going back. My boyfriend and I both got the chicken Mozambique & threw up afterwards. The chicken was also very tough to cut or bite into. The fries were very good though. The rice was very bland. We headed out to a restaurant up the street but could not get parking. Decided to go around the block one more time and spotted this place. We have been looking for a new place for Portuguese food. We were not disappointed. The bread was quickly served and the people sitting on both sides were nice enough to share their opinions of their best liked meals. With the bread they brought a dish of Caserla and it was delicious. We tried the house wine and opted for a half of a bottle later. For our main meal we did have pork and little necks and it was nice to have more than 4 little necks I think there were 7 which was nice. Our other meal was grilled pork loin which also was great. Not dry and there was plenty of both meals to share. There was two types of breads and they were both great. There are two parking lots and we did not have a parking problem. $43.00 and we left with lunch for tomorrow. They were a bit busy but we were not in a hurry. The service was good. The place was clean. There is a bar where you can wait if there is a backup for seating. Nice place. Will definitely be back. read more

Educated people know that Terra Nostra is latin for our land or our country not to be confused with "causa nostra" which is italian for "our cause" . In the island of San Miguel there's the Terra Nostra hotel and an eco-park with the same name. In Montreal Canada you'll also find a restaurant named Terra Nostra. Portuguese people are not know to be involved with the mafia, they are decent, hardworking people. I have been going to this restaurant since I was a kid and now I bring my family. The food was great! Excellent service. I find their lunch menu to be short but I like prefer that makes picking something that much easier. Its definitely on par with restaurants like T&A and Springs Primavera.
