I was referred to Cal climate by a neighbor that informed me that they have been in the market for over 50 years and they are very professional. When I called the lady was very pleasant and she scheduled the technician to come a day and a half after I called. Since I didn't have an emergency I didn't mind about that. The technician arrived on the scheduled date and he was a little late due to traffic (no complaints here) but he was nice enough to call to let me know. The technician was able to fix my central air conditioning in less than half a day and the price was very affordable. I was very happy he was able to find the real issue because I was told by another company that my unit was not repairable and that I needed a $6,000.00 unit. Before meeting Bob, one of the owners of Cal Climate, (this is a family-owned business), I had used numerous a/c-and -heating companies. None of them, highly recommended or not, were as good, thorough, and professional as he was on his first time at my house. I had been advised to change my old Carrier roof unit, for $7,000. Bob took a look, opened, and whatever he did, it worked. He said, sure, it will need to be changed some day, but not today. And $7,000 is way to high a price. He works the old-fashioned way: he looks for the problem until he finds it, and the tries to fix it!!! He's been over a few times since, also for the furnace, same results. Cal Climate are fantastic. I had another company who said I needed to spend over $7000 on new heating and air conditioning units and you had to buy them together. My friend gave me the number for Cal Climate, so they came to see why my equipment was not working. First I was told you do not have to buy both heating and air-conditioning units at the same time, just buy what is broken. They checked my heating unit which had been disconnected by the other company because they said it was unsafe. Bob checked my unit and told me it was not unsafe and fixed the problem, and the unit is still working and that was at least 3 years ago. Cal Climate are so honest they just fix what is the problem. I've been using Cal Climate for about three years and I couldn't be more satisfied with their responsiveness and professionalism. From the person who answers the phone and schedules appointments to the servicemen, they're always so nice to deal with. I always schedule a routine preventative service each May or June and this year Mike was my serviceman. He gave me an excellent explanation about how to choose a filter for my HVAC system that would enable it to work most efficiently and require fewer changes. I recently posted a one star review of this company and want to revise my rating and clarify when not so frustrated. Cal Climate has wonderful staff. Everyone we've ever dealt with has been a sweetheart. The business is set up to handle routine maintenance and installations very efficiently. However, Cal Climate is weak in the area of handling emergencies because of not being available on weekends and evenings and perhaps not having enough technicians. Every time we have needed repairs, we've had to use other companies. It is painful to be given an appointment 3 weeks away when one is a decades long, loyal customer and it's 116 outside. I have to preface this "review" with the fact that I never worked with this company. BECAUSE...they didn't give me a chance to. I left a voicemail explaining the situation with my house: that it was an 80 year old house with no existing HVAC or A/C system. It had no ducting currently and my electrical panel would need an upgrade. That I was looking to upgrade my house and was referred to them by a friend. I got a return phone call about 20 min later. The woman sounded very friendly. Great. She then proceeded to tell me that after reaching out to the owner, they were not interested in my project at this time. I have to admit it sort of took me aback. She further explained that they only are interested in servicing existing units or replacing units with ducting not starting a new project from scratch. I said, "maybe you should put that in your YELP ad and on your website because nothing states that in any way. It clearly says A/C installation." She then tried to back pedal saying this was only currently due to the pandemic they had to lay off people and didn't have enough people...blah blah blah. Look I get it, the pandemic messed up a lot of things, but I am so tired of people still using that as a convenient excuse. So I said, " you basically don't want or need my money, Nice to know. " And hung up. So for any of you out there who need to install an HVAC system for the first time. DO NOT BOTHER CALLING THESE PEOPLE. I would never do business with them in the future. Technician Mike arrived within the promised time frame, with mask. Diagnosed the fault with our forced air heater. Explained the cost to repair before making the repair (not a universal practice lately), and fixed the problem. Replaced an old thermostat as well, plus confirmed that the new one worked for the aircon as well as the heater. We are pleased with the results and will call on them again as needed. read more

Well here we go again. I had a problem with the A/C at my rental last week. I thought that I would give Cal Climate another try because of Chris' reply to my initial review. I left a message one week ago and haven't received any call back yet. Same problem, different year. Chris' claim that this problem has been corrected in my opinion is total BS. I will not give this company a third try. I called North Air and they have already replaced my old 4 ton split unit. My tenants are happy and so am I. Cal Climate has been around for 40 years and I think they are the best ac guys in the Los Angeles/Burbank/Glendale area. They were very knowledgeable about what I needed and saved me a lot of money (all the other ac companies wanted twice as much). Had Cal Climate out for a servicing when our Central heating was going on and off. Bob was friendly, clean and honest. He did a thorough inspection and servicing of our HVAC system which took about 45 minutes. He found the problem and then fixed it at no additional charge. Then he took the time, an additional 20 minutes to help us with our Programmable Thermostat, which we had never learned how to use properly. No up sell, explained everything clearly. What a gem! I used Cal Climate about 3 weeks ago and they were a life saver. I had a problem with debris and was told by 2 different companies that i needed to replace the unit completely and that it would cost me $4600. Cal Climate came out, assessed the situation, told me to have the vents and unit cleaned and sanitized, they referred me to a vent company and then my unit was up and running again. there was no need for a new AC unit since mine was still in working condition. So I spent $500 versus $4600. They will now be my regular ac company. read more

It was a pain in the neck, but after interviewing several companys - 5 yrs ago - to replace my gravity furnace in a 1932 built house, Cal Climate stood out as the best choice by far.
