This place has been busy since they opened. I stopped by on a Saturday for a sweet snack. I decided to go with the Regular Classic Loukoumades ($9.90 plus tax) and added Praline Chocolate Sauce ($1.90 plus tax). There was a line to the counter, but it moved quickly. I received my Loukoumades in about 5 minutes after ordering, which I quickly enjoyed in the food court with a hot coffee. The box was filled with a dozen or so loukoumades balls smothered in plenty of rich chocolate sauce. They also have picks at the counter for enjoying this treat since it was messy. The warm loukoumades were light and chewy and went well with the rich praline chocolate. would definitely try some of their other toppings on my loukoumades next time.

He said he wouldn't have time to add custom decorations, but I had an idea and had him frost 11 in green and 1 in red. When I picked them up on Saturday, he added two cookies to the box. I also ordered a meat pie and a kofta wrap and while I was waiting, he gave me two pieces of warm baklava, fresh from the oven! Absolutely delicious. When everything was ready, he carried it out to my car for me, since I had the stroller. He's such a kind man. And oh my gosh... possibly the best cupcakes I've ever had. The frosting was light and more buttery than sweet. I usually take the frosting off of cupcakes but I didn't this time because it was just too good. The lemon curd center was tangy and just the right level of sweetness. I will return to Michael's for every birthday/anniversary/party from now on. Oh and that meat pie is going to live in my brain forever. So aromatic and delicious... I got it for my husband but had eaten half of it by the time I got home. Whoops!

The storefront is fairly shallow with just the counter to order at and short table by the window next to the pint freezer. You can pick two flavors with a small size and with a wide selection of flavors, you can't really go wrong. I tried the Boston Blackout (a tar black mix of cocoa ganache and layer cake) and Pistachio Baklava (pistachio ice cream with toffee and phyllo dough) which were both 10/10. My last day of the trip I got the "Xtra Xtra" Coffee (the only flavor I found lacking, I was hoping for something more potent) and the Ritzy AF (butter cracker ice cream with cracker toffee which more than made up for the shortcomings of the coffee one). I do look forward to coming back here to try more flavors on future work trips!

Fast forward, from my house it's 35 to 40 minutes back (depending on traffic) on a Friday. I needed my husband to taste this joy!! And then... no cone or waffle bowl batter when we got to register. None. Zero. My excitement dropped faster than a melting scoop in July. I had the Raspberry gooey butter cake in a cup , which was delicious, but that waffle bowl was the reason for the road trip. I will absolutely be back because I know how amazing it can be, but please, I am begging stash an extra batch in the fridge for the long distance dessert lovers. That waffle bowl is not just dessert. It is an experience.

I came across Love + Flour's booth at Snowport in Boston, so this review is for their baked goods…read moreand not the physical location. But now that I know they're in Salem, I'll be visiting very soon! The macarons were front and center in the booth, and I kept goggling at how beautiful they were. They are slightly larger macarons with generous fillings and bejeweled shells ($3.75 each). I asked the person manning the booth what her favorites were (sugar cookie and cookie dough), but I still had trouble deciding which to try, there were so many unique flavors. She was very helpful though. Macarons are generally gluten free, but some flavors had cookie or cake crumbs and were labeled as containing gluten (fyi all served in the same case). These macarons were certainly not dairy free, but I decided to try them anyways; they were way too tempting. The Tall Man and I ended up getting a guava and a gingerbread macaron. His dad got a pistachio and a cosmic brownie (typical brownie vs the peppermint version). If I had known he was going to get some, it would have made more sense to get a half dozen. Macarons aren't cheap cookies, but they were certainly worth it. The guava was the plainest in appearance and taste. It wasn't decorated, and only the shell was flavored not the cream; it was too subtle and could have used a jam. The gingerbread was my favorite of our choices, spicy and not overly sweet with a nice textural crunch with the mini gingerbread sprinkles. The cosmic brownie had fun chunky sprinkles and a very fudgy texture, which was more brownie than macaron like (probably intentionally), but the taste was like a typical brownie so I would get something different next time. I didn't get to try the pistachio, but my father in law enjoyed it, and he doesn't even like cookies. Everything on display was beautifully fun to look at. I was also intrigued by their hot chocolate bombs and cake jars, but more as eye candy since they were full of gluten and dairy (but would make for great gifts!).
