Cajun Claws may have hit rock bottom. In previous visits to this establishment the service and food has always been perfect. This visit was on Saturday November 25th at 5:15 pm. But this last visits leaves me questioning if I should ever go back. First, the party of 9 arrived promptly for our reservation and we were asked to wait for the table as it needed be prepared. This is very odd since the entire party was present and the restaurant was almost empty. Appetizers- three appetizers were ordered for the table. Rock shrimp, fired calamari and crab dip. Each appetizer was brought to the table in 5 minute increments. That was pretty odd considering the restaurant was pretty empty. Both the rock shrimp and the fried calamari were good. But the "crab dip",... was served with Ritz crackers , celery and carrot sticks. There was no dip , it is was simply plain crab meat fluffed up in a plastic demitasse. No added mayonnaise or other herbs and spices. It was very bland especially for the price charged. Very odd and disappointing. Now for the entrees, a chicken sandwich, children's pasta, children's chicken finger a lobster roll and two ultimate boils. Again the food was not served all at once but staggered. The children's food was served promptly and adequate quality. The lobster roll was pretty much a joke. I am including a photograph as a picture is with a thousand words. Now for the coude gras, the ultimate boils. The waiter came over after everyone else in the party is served and finished eating and informed us that the kitchen is behind. Now remind you the restaurant was almost empty. After waiting for another 15-20 minutes we promptly told the waiter to cancel the order and give us the check. Sad to say I will never go back as both the food quality and speed of service was terrible. It is even more amazing that no one from the restaurant's management team came over to apologize for the poor service. I do not gamble on football so why would I gamble on my dinner? I will not go back to Cajun Claws as I can see they are cutting corners on food quality and service but not the price. read more

This is our go-to place in Suffolk county! They always have the freshest seafood and best service. We normally get their lobster bisque, seafood boil and some appetizers such as chicken wing and salads. The chicken wing is fried and seasoned to perfection. The salad is always fresh with yummy dressing. For the seafood boil, the shrimp is a must-have. It's crispy and sweet unlike the mushy ones in most other seafood boil places. The mussel and little necks are also fresh and clean. We also get the Dungeness crab and crawfish. We also had the raw oyster and little necks during our most recent visit right before the New Year. They were both fresh and delicious like everything else ! We definitely recommend this place! read more

I'm willing to try again but my first time trying their cajun blend ultimate boil (chose lobster, clams, mussels) was a downer. the entire bag was just bland bland bland. Tasted like one grain of salt above boiled in water. Very disappointing as none of the pieces of seafood tasted anything near CAJUN. So glad I tried this place. Really happy with everything we ordered, and overall had a good experience. The menu leans more heavily on the seafood boil, apps, and raw bar (no complaint!). We were impressed with the little things too. We liked that the kids dinner was served on a legit "kids dish" which helped get them to eat (parents know lol), and they made sure you had all the nick nacks, utensils, etc. Staff appeared to be well supervised, and the restaurant operated efficiently. Server was super nice, and made sure to check in. I even noticed that the owner ran food from the pass to our table. We definitely will be back to try more items on the menu, and I recommend giving this place a try if you enjoy seafood. read more

This might be by far the best seafood spot ever! The prices are unbeatable, quality is bar none and it's super clean and cool inside. I wish I had two stomachs for the food I wanted to devour there. So many different things, chefs specials drink specials and just a variety of seafood on the menus. There's outside and inside dining but with the snow mostly inside. There a perfect bar right in the middle, clean bathrooms and so many tables with different settings. You will love this place if you love seafood. Seafood boil is one of my favorites and NYC has some of the finest. Was surprised to find one that offers calamari and scallop as options per lb. Everything was cooked perfectly which keeps me coming back. Our server Juliana was super attentive and checked in on us multiple times to make sure we were enjoying our night. Decor- 4 stars ..I was surprised how big the place was being that it is not on the Main Street. Decor was well put together. Huge bar that looks a little in finished and desolated. I think this establishment needs to put a little focus on the bar. Service - 4.5 stars .. Jess was our server was very informative and polite but seemed to get lost from time to time and we had to ask for her but not a deal breaker. The manager made her rounds every 20 minutes to check on everything which was nice . Did not have our type of desert and offered us another no charge. Pleasant surprise. Price - 3.9...stars even though I thought it was a bit pricey I felt they gave some quality food and large portions. Just felt what we had should have been around $110to $120. They came in at $145. But what can you say in today's fish market ups and downs. Last but not least I give a 5 star to a waiter named JOE. He was not our waiter but offered his help when our server was MIA. This guy was on point and entertaining to watch as he worked. Joe should be in charge of the wait staff. Just thought I would point this out. I got the Cajun claws blend sauce. First time and I will return. This is an excellent alternative to the City Island / Manhattan insanity and traffic on I-95. My waitress was also super sweet, well mannered, and well groomed, from 1-10 I'd rate her 10. Drinks we're excellent I recommend the scorpion bowl (my husband and I shared because it was large and impossible for me to drink on my own) Relax in a pleasant atmosphere. Overall we loved everything with one exception, their NE clam chowder. It was very thin. Had little vegetables and clam. To be honest, I'd recommend throwing away that recipe and starting from scratch. NE clam chowder is such an easy thing to make. Maybe make one with bacon and a turkey stock base? We tried the 4oz cold king crab, snow crab claws, and a shrimp/crawfish boil. I forget which sauce my wife chose, but we loved it. My kids had the miso Mac n cheese (not on menu, ask). Extremely greatful for the staff as they seated us right near closing time, as they did not have to. The waitress was extremely friendly and quick with how she handled our orders and how she attended to us! We were also able to get LED bar drinks as well! Baked clams were the worst I've ever had, they were way under cooked and why are they being served with marinara and pickles?!? The NE clam chowder didn't have one clam in it and tasted like cream of mushroom soup. My bf's boil was disappointing, not enough flavor, the shrimp seemed off, one small piece of corn and undercooked potatoes and there were a lot of these spongy rice cakes in it. My soft shell crab burger and drinks were mediocre. Our sever Sara and Hostess Tina were super nice but that's the best I can muster about this experience unfortunately. Been here twice. The atmosphere is great and the staff is very friendly and personable. Had a few of the boil dishes which are plenty and very tasty. My favorite dish is the lobster spaghetti. The flavors of this sauce are spot on. It's creamy and full of flavor. My only disappointment is they don't serve bread with the dish. It's that good you want to soak it all up. My suggestion is bring you're own bread lol. Also wish they served coffee. Overall great restaurant. read more

We started off with a fun sparkling drink, calamari and Rock Shrimp. Everything was piping hot and delicious. For the entrees, we got the Ocean Treasure and Lobster Mac and Cheese. Those scallops were the best I've had - so perfectly cooked. The garlic butter was a great compliment to dip everything in to. Everything was plated so nicely. I have discovered that at a Vietnamese Owned cajun themed seafood restaurant in patchouge, raw oysters are served in the Vietnamese style which means along with the oysters you get a 1 oz plastic cup of a sauce made of rice vinegar and sesame oil. There was also a 1 oz plastic cup of what tasted like catsup that may have once been stored in the vicinity of a horse radish jar but could not possibly contain any. I asked the waitress for crackers to go with our 2 dozen oysters and she returned with a plate with 5 ritz type crackers. Fearing that i had been unclear i asked if we could have enough crackers to have one with each each oyster. She seemed confused but eventually returned with 19 (exactly) more crackers. There was an airline drink bottle sized bottle of tabasco on the table so we made do with that and the catsup for a hot Sauce. When the waitress brought the check i saw two odd items. A $1 for crackers and another $3 charge for crackers. Had i been thinking clearly i would have realized that someone had gone to the effort of programming a 'crackers' item into the computer as a sellable item ‍ but my sense of justice was rather incensed at that moment so i asked for the manager. A 20 something Vietnamese girl arrived and explained that giving us one or two crackers would be ok but at only $24 per dozen oysters the crackers were far too expensive to just give away and that the $1 charge was for the initial 5 and the $3 charge was a special reduced price for the other 19. I paid the bill, gave the waitress a cash tip (i would not be surprised if that manager was taking the tip money too) and was greatly relieved upon going outside that we did not appear to have slipped into a parallel universe after all. So let this be a lesson when ordering oysters half shell, ask how many crackers come with the meal! read more

I never write reviews but after speaking to the manager of this establishment, i feel like i am obligated to write this. I had a pound of clams with butter sauce. While i was eating it, i did notice that it was not the best quality but anyway, i did it. A couple of hours later, i started to live in the bathroom. For the past, 12 hours i have been living in the bathroom and feeling absolutely horrible. When i called the manager to explain the situation, she was very rude and did not feel sympathy whats so ever. In fact, she just kept repeating that no one has called her so i must be lying. Absolutely terrible customer service! I am never going there again, terrible quality of seafood and terrible customer service. The waitress was nice but she also gave us our check right after we finished eating. Didn't ask if we we were ready for the check or if we wanted anything. She was really apologetic and we understood, accidents happen. Basically, if you want to get food poison and not have the establishment care, go here. If not, spend a little bit more money and go to real seafood place. You will thank me later! read more

I'm shocked there are so many good reviews. My husband and I compared this to an Applebee's type food. I got surf and turf and the lobster was chewy, bland, and tiny. It isn't even served with butter or anything. The vegetables were steamed, which is fine, but they were also bland and unseasoned. No salt and pepper shakers either. Steak was a tiny piece of TV dinner style food. The only good food we got was the chicken tenders kids meal lol Our server was also more concerned with her cell phone then her only table. I couldn't even get her attention for drink refills. She let our food sit out on the serving counter so she could finish texting before serving us. When it came time to leave we couldn't even find her to pay. This was a Tuesday night at 4pm. We were the only diners at a table. One couple was at the bar. There was a full staff. I've gotten better service at other restaurants even at peak times. We also couldn't even get in and out of the bathroom because the bar backs were unloading right in front of the doors. This was a weird place. I got sick after too. Could be unrelated as it happened shortly thereafter. But I will never go there again and never recommend it. read more

So... here's my thing. This place needs to be assessed on a couple of fronts so add or subtract stars as needed. 1) Ambience. As a restaurant, it's very nice. Slick, Manhattan vibe. Faux re-claimed wood and a cool basin sink in the Men's Room. Soft, mellow house music pumps throughout. Nice outdoor space with heaters, if needed. Very chill and urban which, for me is part of the problem. It's a Cajun joint, right? I'm expecting Buckwheat Zydeco and raw pine benches. with sawhorse tables and checkered cloths. Ya dig? Basically, it's a nice place but the vibe is incongruous with the alleged culture. 2) Food. The food was fine but somehow not as authentic as I was hoping for. Wife's "fish burger" (no jokes, please) was OK but seemed like an industrial patty. Appropriately moist on the inside and slightly crispy on the out, it still kinda lacked that handmade, breaded in Panko withhillbilly's toe nail clippings that I expected. Fries were delicious but again, they're fries. I ordered a boil: 1/2 black mussels and 1/2 crawfish. It came with hunks of boiled corn and potatoes, which were fine. The mussels and crawfish were also fine but a bit less than I expected. I ordered it "spicy" which wasn't very spicy at all. If any of you are chiliheads, order it as hot as you can and/or bring our own stuff to ramp it up. As an app we had the "spicy" chili wings which, again, were not spicy and were very subtly flavored. Crispy (which was nice) but plated (5 of them) on a stark white tray with sauce drizzled about. Again, fine but not in line with what I expected for a Cajun joint. I mean, even my boil, when it came out, was in a plastic bag and which was then opened and deposited into my dish. Did they sous vide this? A small matter but it probably should have been presented steaming and plated. The vibe is chill but wrong for a Cajun resto, IMO. It reminds me a lot of Taiko 360 down the block so I wonder if they've been bought out? Vibe as a resto: 3 1/2 stars Vibe as a CAJUN resto: 2 stars Food as such: 3 stars Food as a CAJUN spot (taking into consideration presentation and spice-level): 2 stars Check it out for yourself but if you're looking for that bayou, toothless, slap-yo-mamma, alligator bite and moonshine kinda joint, you might be disappointed.
