I have been to this establishment probably half a dozen times in my life, never once had a bad experience. Tonight specifically, I went to dinner with my girlfriend for an early Valentine's Day dinner, and had yet another pleasant experience! I ordered a ribeye steak, it was cooked perfectly, which is something that rarely happens at restaurants. It was also very good, one of the best steaks I've ever had, which is especially impressive for a non-steakhouse! I was overall very impressed tonight that it prompted me to leave a review. Not that I haven't been impressed the other times. Our waiter, Chris, was also exceptional. Very speedy and proficient in the serving process. Very accommodating and constantly asking to help. Went above and beyond to ensure us a good experience. The atmosphere every-time I go is great, I always love the southern-like feel with the country music playing, and the clover leaf to highlight Irish heritage! Would recommend this place to anyone, they always deliver a great experience. Look forward to returning as I always do. They have never disappointed! Of course, nobody is perfect besides Jesus. My only critique is how long it took for us to be seated when we first arrived. This, of course, is a good sign for the restaurant, as they're busy! I'm just nitpicking, but I did get impatient while waiting to be seated. After that, I had yet another tremendous experience as always! I wish I was able to give 4.5 stars, because I don't like to give out 5s as nobody is perfect besides Jesus, however 4 stars is too low! Think of this as a 4.5 star review! We were in the area for a Halloween event and my fiancé found this place as a go to spot. When we pulled in the parking lot was PACKED but managed to get a table right away. We didn't have to wait long for service either and our waitress was very good, making sure we had what we needed the entire time. We got an order of their cheese curds for the table. I honestly have to say they were probably the best cheese curds I've had anywhere! I got the steak and shrimp combo, which was an 8 Oz steak with 3 pieces of stuffed shrimp. The steak was flavorful and the shrimp was STUFFED. The mashed potatoes were great and I got their seafood bisque with it which was tasty. My only complaint was the steak was more medium rare when I ordered medium. I didn't say anything and still enjoyed the steak. With it being a Saturday there was college football on all the TVs so the place was Def loud, but you know to expect that! We would definitely come back read more

Stopped by Caffrey's in Forked River on a Saturday night. The food itself was pretty good -- no complaints there -- but the overall experience was just okay. The restaurant was very busy, and parking was a bit of a nightmare. The backyard area was packed too, which made it hard to relax. The staff was fine, not overly friendly but not rude either -- just kind of in between. The biggest downside for me was how loud and chaotic it was. Between the crowd and the noise, it was tough to enjoy the meal. If you like a lively, bustling atmosphere, you'll probably love it here. But if you're looking for something more chill or quiet, this might not be the best spot. read more

We've eaten here quite a bit over the last year and love the food. The chicken & waffles special today was amazing. The chicken wasn't dry at all and the syrup tasted delicious. The French dip is made on garlic bread which gave it just a bit of a twist and upgrade from other French dips around town. The chicken fajita wrap, however, is what I recommend every time. I could put the fajita sauce on everything! The only downfall: the credit card charge. They aren't the only ones who do this but I will point it out every time. 2.5% added to your bill. read more

We regularly go to Caffreys every other month or so. We stopped in on a Monday evening. Great atmosphere. Plenty of TVs. We were a party of four tonight. Two of us got the chicken parmesan over pasta. They loved the sauce. The serving size was huge for both of them. There is plenty to take home. They gave it a 4.5 out of 5. My husband and I split 3 special special sushi rolls and one regular sushi roll. We also had seaweed salad and edamame. The sushi appetizers are just as good as sushi establishment. All the sushi rolls are very good for an American style restaurant. The Kevin Roll and Caffrey Roll are our favorite. Anything with their Spicy Tuna is delicious. There is two sections of this restaurant. They have their tavern and then the backyard. We went over to the backyard for a friends birthday and had such a good time. The service, even considering that it was busy. We had a wide range of different foods from sushi., Poké bowl, beef stick, and chicken on a stick. All the meals were good and recommended. They have these large rum buckets for drinks for anybody that likes rum. I have been here a few times for different holidays and it's a really really great time. It's also family-friendly! This bar burned down and they rebuilt bigger and better.They offer a backyard bar with outdoor seating as well as the main restaurant and bar.Our waitress was wonderful and sweet! I adore the bartender Barbara that's also a neighbor. I'm really confused why ,if you get a plant based patty melt it's $4 more than a red meat burger!? Came here on a Saturday night as a group of 6 women. There was a nice crowd by surrounding the bar & we enjoyed the vibe. We waited 10 minutes for a table & everyone ordered sushi. We all loved our dinner. We left this place on the hunt for a nice bar to end up in since this place seemed like a family style restaurant/bar & we were in the mood for a more adult night. After visiting 4 different bars in the surrounding area, I have to say this was the best one. I don't think I would come back here since it's a 45 min drive from home. There was nothing special about this place that would make me come back. It's your average bar with a large room in the back for dinner or I assume private parties. Best overall Restaurant in Forked River for casual food of all kinds! Never had a bad meal in well over 100 visits! The Back Yard created after the main restaurant burned down a number of years ago acted as the temporary now life saver while they rebuilt the main restaurant. It serves as a great Beach Style Indoor/Outdoor Restaurant depending on Weather Conditions. Beach Volleyball, Corn Hole, and other Tiki type games are available along with live Music, which isn't available in the main restaurant. BTW, the Bar Pies are the best Pizzas in all of Lacey and Waretown! Sushi? Yes! They have great Sushi rivaling the Asian restaurants in the area. Definitely try the Poky bowl! New look at an old restaurant This review really focused on the Caffreys backyard based on ambiance, food, service, price So being familiar with Caffreys, we were planning a Friday night visit for to burgers and beers. Once we pulled into the seriously overcrowded lot for the holiday weekend we decided to checkout the backyard which seemed less busy but still crowded.. So let me just say this place looks fun.. a games area in a sandbox that people are playing corn hole, lots of outside seating in a very casual bar feel to it.. I love the summertime feel of this place. So really cool place to have a few drinks annd food check. 5 star So after a short 15 minute wait at the bar, we got seated in an area of the bar a few feet away.. (there is no bad seat) to start off we shared some Buffalo wings (12), the nachos (12) were also good and pretzel and beer cheese (6) everyone was happy and the beers were flowing.. service was fast even thought we saw complaints about the speed and food coming from the main restaurant we didn't see any delay. The area around us was wafting we a garlicky steak smell so I had to ask.. a garlic cheese steak (16) which tasted great but I was trying to shake a garlic smell for two days.. others had Caffreys burger , Caesar salad with chicken, Everyone enjoyed the food it was a great alternative to any of the local chains but really nothing spectacular food 3-4 stars Service was pretty good, we had to wait long for a check but beers and food came quickly and considering the amount of people in the place we were happy.. . Had a VERY good meal here. They are checking temps before you are sat, all employees are wearing masks correctly so then theres that... if that's important to you, you can feel safe coming here. Our server Emily was on point, she was great with her recommendations and we listened and were glad we did. Started with General Tso chicken wings which were huge and juicy/cooked perfectly. This is the second time I've been back this year to give it another chance and it's a BIG NO. Let me start with this we got 2 entrees and 2 appetizers: Black jack Cajun burger, Philly Cheesesteak, Spinach dip and the outrageous onion. The Burger was extremely bland, GREASY and nooo Cajun flavor at all and had the taste of a 2 year old freezer. The Philly cheesesteak was completely inedible and I threw the entire thing in the garbage and I felt bad for the garbage can. Now for the Spinach dip.... SOUR and the taste of a mop bucket while being served in an aluminum pie dish. I believe it also came out of the 2 year old freezer along with that horrible burger. The outrageous onion while being tough and greasy it was the only thing that was edible and that was by a SLIM margin. For $54 dollars I had a CAFFREYS gift card (THANK GOD!) they also charged a CC fee to use there OWN gift card which is laughable lol!! I will never come back and I hope people really read this review because it's not a joke and you will be extremely disappointed if you come and eat here.. the food quality has diminished tremendously over these last 2 years!!! UPDATE: 5/2/21 So decided to give "The Backyard" a "3rd" chance since the past 2 times the service was horrible and this time was no different. Took 30 minutes just to get a drink then followed up 40 minutes later! Had to grab bus boys just to get them to find our waiter that would disappear and never come back. Wife ordered cheesesteak sandwich and my son and I ordered sushi, wife's meal came out and she was finished 20 minutes before our sushi even arrived. Such a shame as Caffery's has good food and we will go to the main restaurant but will NEVER EVER go back to The Backyard again. read more
