As a general rule, I love Caffe Nero and visit them when in the area of one of their locations. This one is just as worthwhile a visit as the others. First off, it's 8:30a.m. and the place is half full of mom's and their kids. So the locals also approve! One wall is covered in book shelves. A foosball table is in the back corner. A couple of tables take space in the sunny window front. All on brand. Restrooms in the back are clean. The order line forms on the left. They have all the expected sandwiches waiting for you including a Vegan Breakfast sandwich and of course some pastry. They have lots of cold and hot coffee beverages. I was tempted by a blood orange latte, but I stuck to my Americano. I had that with one of their huge croissants. I think the gentleman who helped us was new. It took him a bit of time to make the beverages, but that's OK. We're patient. He was very polite, asked all the right questions and got the order correct and that's what matters. We picked a couple of comfortable seats near the entrance and watched the constant flow of customers come and go. Around 9a.m. it looked like a bus load of high school students were dropped off at the door. Ha! Not an actual bus, but that line was long. This is a great spot for a variety of coffee drinks, pastry, sandwiches and meeting up with friends. The neighborhood clearly agrees. read more

This is a cute shop in the center of Reading. While there are tables and chairs, most of the tables are pretty small so spreading out or sharing a table to do work can pose a challenge. It does get pretty loud in the cafe during busy times of the day as well. Most of the workers are nice and helpful, but a few aren't so friendly. The coffee is okay, but it is quite expensive even for a higher end coffee shop. Also make sure you note that there is a surcharge for dining in rather than getting a to go cup which is very odd to me. read more

Yoo!!! Caffe Nero's Bacon Breakfast Rolls are drool-all-over-the-floor delicious. Crispy & buttery -- you'll scarf these suckers down and feel super satisfied. They're savory and amazing, also. Just moving to town and of course I've been ordering a lot while I'm unpacking. Found this gem with vegan options!!! I was too busy eating to take photos but I remember what I had: the vegan breakfast sandwich is phenomenal, the cinnamon roll... YES PLEASE, and the snickerdoodle cookies OMG, they were thick and delicious. I wasn't much of a fan of the strawberry and banana smoothie and they sent wrong croissant so I can't share that but it looked good (I ordered vegan croissant and they sent one with meat and cheese) This will still be a go to place and hoping to get myself over to the restaurant in person. read more

A lovely little cafe! The vibe is intimate and almost like a home office/library. Other customers are mainly friends, families, and book clubs. It can get a bit crowded on Saturdays and Sundays, but people are in and out so frequently that any louder groups won't stay long. You will get so much work done! The only negative aspect I've seen is that it sometimes closes at unpredictable times due to shortages in staff. They all work so hard, though, so it is understandable! And I appreciate when, if closing even earlier, they let already-seated customers stay inside until closing time! read more

Really cool vibe. Probably one of the trendier coffee shops I have seen in the area. It was my first time and I had a great experience. The only thing I disliked was the vents blowing out cool air so it was hard to sit with the chill hitting your face. Especially because it's winter. But other than that, this place is great to get work done and to enjoy a hot coffee. The staff is very friendly. I got a caramel latte which was good. Perfect spot to get some work done. Pretty crowded during the weekend but was able to get a booth spot soon after arriving. This location isn't very different than other Cafe Nero's in the Boston area, maybe just filled with more families and friends than college students. No complaints and nothing out of the ordinary when I visited. The turn over was pretty quick and everyone seemed to mind their own business. The workers are friendly. I got a regular unsweetened iced green tea and my boyfriend got a black coffee (we're pretty simple). Later on I ordered the chocolate croissant, it was flakey and lived up to my expectations. I've tried coming here a half a dozen times. I'm always greeted with unfriendly snarky staff. My coffee yesterday was so hot it melted the glue on the cup and continued to leak all over myself. I understand the need for it to be warm. But a barista should know that a coffee this hot would essentially burn the bean cast away most of the delicious tasting oils. I'd recommend a quick attitude change and toning down the heat. read more

I used to frequent this cafe when I was in college. Just moved back east and went in today. Still a great vibe. There is a Russian lady who runs it now, she makes a damn good cappuccino! My wife got an alpine berry Tea. We shared the ham and cheese baguette, reminded us of the jambon Buerre served in Paris. I agree with another reviewer, I think the Board of Health should go in the number of flies that were all over the place, it was hard to enjoy my food. First time to the Reading location and I thought it was much better than other Nero locations I've been to in the area. Staff were super friendly and the line went fast. I loved their selection of lunch items (I don't think I've seen such a large variety before). Iced caramel latte did the trick as did the avocado toast. Yummy. Lovely interior that looked fun to sit and enjoy life while sipping on a coffee (maybe next time). Busy but not rushed. Prices comparable other cafes and Starbucks. They even have a free drink club. The rating is mainly for value. This is decent for the price. Expect slow service with hesitant smiles from employees. Almost always understaffed, so, be patient during these pandemic times. Hard to find employees for any food establishment right now, so, I cut them a lot of slack. Just happy they are open! I was very excited when I found out that there was a Caffe Nero close by to our home. It's hard to see the sign from outside because it's blocked off by a tree. There are plenty of parking spots. The interior is very unique. It's modern rustic with an antique flare. The service is awesome. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. Great little place to chill out with coffee and read a book. Their cold brew coffee is very strong. It doesn't taste watered down like most coffee places. I also got their apple coffee cake. It's very sweet and moist. Has great apple flavored to it. There's so much on the menu to choose from. I might need to come back on another day to try out their sandwiches. read more

I've been here several more times, not a fan. The sandwiches here are so bland, the coffee tastes burnt, and the cream and sugar station always has flies buzzing around it. The bathrooms look like they haven't been cleaned in months. It costs almost $8 for a breakfast sandwich that anyone could make at home and it would taste way better. It seems bizarre that I haven't yet dropped a review for Caffe Nero. This is my go to coffee shop since it's close to my house and it's spacious. This particular Caffe Nero is not as crowded as other ones around Boston and I love their mint tea. They also have bright welcoming windows that lets in lots of light near the front of the shop. It's a really great place to have a casual date or get some work done. The bathroom however, is freezing cold. read more

Great spot! Runs much better than a Starbucks and far more professional and friendly. Love coming in and baristas are all quick on the draw when it comes to making drinks. Theyve got their system down. Only reason I knock off a star is because you can't tip on a credit card charge! I worked in service for years so it's important to me to be able to pay good tipping karma forward. It drives me nuts that I have to remember to have cash on me in 2018 just to support the great staff. Please make this change! I will up my rating if you do. read more

We were in town for a figure skating competition, and I hit Caffe Nero the second they opened to grab some lattes and pastry. Nice assortment of drinks and pastries, including a surprisingly large selection of pistachio-flavored pastries. We enjoyed the brews so much that I ran out two more times during the day. I'm officially a Caffe Nero fan! I was visiting my best friend outside Boston for a few days, and we decided to check this spot out on her fiance's recommendaiton (he hadn't been to this location, but loved the others he's visited). So happy we did! The ambiance is fantastic here; a whole wall of bookshelves, exposed brick, sofas, cute little nooks, etc. We ended up spending most of the day here! Coffee was very good (not the best I've had, but great nonetheless), and the sandwiches were surprisingly delicious! Brand new coffee shop (which is a European chain expanding rapidly in the area), located next to Venetian Moon in Reading on Main St. I can only rate their cold brew which is excellent albeit no inexpensive and was $3.70 for the large (20oz) size. Cold brew is filled from keg/tap. Barista who took my order and served my drink was very nice and space is very clean and inviting including a foosball table, fireplace, comfy chairs, etc. read more

I asked my ice coffee dark. Very little milk. It came white in color. I asked the girl to pour some out and add more coffee to make it darker. She suggested I buy 2 espresso shots and add that. I am so happy to have Nero in town. The coffee is delicious and the sandwiches are the best. The baked good look yummy. Everyone who works here is nice and the space is very inviting and relaxing. The best bet for coffee in the Reading area. Now the cons.... they have a few gluten free wrapped cookies but really minimal gluten free baked options. They don't have any gluten free sandwiches... I know it is a challenge to ensure something is 100% gluten free but it would be nice if there were more items not prepared with gluten for people who are sensitive to gluten but can handle cross contamination. Also, I wish there were a coffee only line for when it is busy. I am so spoiled by the mobile app for other coffee places that the 10 minute wait for a plain black coffee is a deal breaker. read more

I ordered 2 sandwiches and a pastry from Caffee Nero. It was all absolute crap. The sandwiches were served on a baguette that was hard enough to break a tooth or use as a woodblock in a band, and with brie cheese that was rubbery and dry. Honestly, I think the sandwiches were at least 3 days old, but they served them via DoorDash anyway. I will NEVER go back to this place again and advise you to steer clear of it. read more

Great cold brew! Reminds me of a classic Italian coffee and panini shop. Sandwiches are pre-made and on display. The ham and cheese croissant had a good amount of ham, heated on a press it tasted terrific. I only wish it were a little larger. Love the library and foosball table. Cafe Nero is a relative newcomer to the greater Boston coffee scene and I'm pumped they're expanding. This location is definitely building itself to be a neighborhood hangout, with a large space and plenty of comfy couches, love seats and other seating spaces. The coffee is good of course. The real game changer here though is the free foosball table in the back. So come for the coffee, or to read a book, or with your friends and get dominated in foosball. read more

I was excited to be sitting inside a coffee shop after a long time. This location had fairly spread out tables which made me feel at ease since no one was wearing mask. But that's about all that was good at this shop. The barista was a grumpy young person who seemed put upon to be taking my order. The chai latte was mediocre and I could barely finish half of it. I also picked up a vegan breakfast sandwich and I had to throw away its patty, it was bland and rubbery. However, the Just Egg vegan omelette in it was alright. Otherwise, there wasn't much of a food and snack selection there, only a handful of options. So, yeah I'm not going back. I can get better coffee / sandwich for $12 elsewhere. read more
