Before heading to Fuddruckers, I decided to get dessert first and walked over to the  Cookie Monstah counter, conveniently next to the colorful water light show display. The place was quite busy with a line. When it was my turn, I eventually decided on a Wicked Good Sandwich, choosing Two M&Ms Cookies with German Chocolate Cake Ice Cream. This ice cream sandwich was very good which I needed enjoy quickly as the ice cream melts in quick fashion. After I finished my Cookie Monstah treat, I actually too filled up to immediately order my favorite Southwest Burger and fries from Fuddruckers, lol.

The servings are generous, the toppings abundant, and the ice cream itself is frozen perfection. Honestly, if there's a better way to spend a summer evening, I haven't found it. The setup is charming in its simplicity: a cozy little spot tucked between the stand and a neighboring building, picnic tables slightly shielded from the street. It feels almost like you've stumbled on a secret ice cream speakeasy, except the password is just "two scoops, please." Service? Quick, courteous, and top-notch--exactly the kind of people you want handing you sugar in frozen form. So why not five stars? Because the prices are... let's say "aspirational." The kind of numbers that make you check twice to make sure you didn't accidentally buy equity in the place. Delicious as it is, ice cream probably shouldn't cost the same as a casual sit-down lunch. That said, Nanabette's still delivers one of the best cones you'll find in Woburn. Just maybe bring a second wallet--you know, in case you want sprinkles.

My boys split the ice cream nachos (broken waffle cone, their choice of ice cream, 2 toppings, and dipping sauce). I only wish I would have encouraged them to choose peanut butter instead of marshmallow to dip, because we all know pb is better. I could see how this spot would be nostalgic for some, but it is also a great joint for out-of-towners.

Add vintage decor to the mix and you'd expect to be treated with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere that matches the charm of the surroundings. Instead, when you get here is a fascinating, social experiment, showcasing today's youth and their apparent struggle to engage with actual human beings without the aid of a cell phone. Let me be clear. I did not see a cell phone in anyone's hand but there might as well have been. Smiles are scarce enthusiasm is nonexistent and interactions often feel like you've interrupted. Someone's very important mission of staring into the middle distance. The good news? The ice cream is absolutely delicious. In fact it's good enough to almost make you forget that ordering it felt like an inconvenience. And perhaps that's what it comes down to outstanding ice cream paired with mediocre service isn't really too much to ask for both a fantastic product and a friendly experience? Apparently, in today's world that may be setting the bar a little high. The verdict is still out. I'll happily return for the ice cream. Whether I'm returning for the hospitality is another story entirely.
