Quiche, salted caramel chocolate chip cookie, strawberry apple juice
    Victoria C.

A cute little bakery in Ipswich right next to the library. I came on a weekday for lunch with a friend and got a quiche, cookie, and strawberry apple juice. They also have a menu with breakfast items and sandwiches that are made to order. There's window seating inside and a few tables for outdoor dining. The quiche was really good, a bit eggy with veggies in it and the crust was crispy. The chocolate chip cookie was standard and the molasses cookie was chewy. The strawberry apple juice was something I had never seen before, but was still sweet and had hints of strawberry. The bakery was bustling with lots of people and orders coming in and out. Overall, a nice place to stop by if you're in the area.

Wow! One of our best finds on our weekend trip in Ipswich. We stopped by for breakfast on Sunday and ordered the biscuit breakfast sandwich, avocado toast, and 2 biscuits to go. The biscuit breakfast sandwich was the best thing we had. The egg was so fluffy, the sausage was so juicy, and the biscuit was crispy and perfect. I'm still dreaming of it back in Boston. Also definitely add the aioli...yum. I think they only offer the biscuit breakfast sandwich on Sundays otherwise you have to get the regular breakfast sandwich. Not sure how that one will compare. The avocado toast was fresh and the cucumbers added a nice touch. The 2 biscuits we got to go were also perfect even 6 hours later. Can't wait to go back when I'm in the area.

As former residents of Jamaica Plain, we were delighted to find ourselves in Gloucester and near the newish Sandpiper Bakery...the owner/baker used to run the fabulous Canto Six in JP. Everything is delicious and high quality. Menu changes constantly. Check out their insta to see specials.

Bacon egg and cheese on focaccia

We stayed in Gloucester for 2 days (a little "staycation", desperately needed) and got to try a little bit of everything at Sandpiper. The good: the pastries are outrageously good, service is friendly, the lunch sandwiches were bomb (especially the BLT and the Caprese). The so-so: the breakfast sandwiches were a bit of miss - I'm not sure it was due to my expectation of a hearty, filling bacon, egg and cheese, but the way in which the eggs were prepared left a lot to be desired. It tasted like a hybrid between scrambled and a souffle, and it was definitely more of a high-brow breakfast sandwich akin to Flour. Overall, I'd recommend sticking with the bakery goods and lunch sandwiches, but could just be my personal preference. Either way, Sandpiper is awesome and worth checking out!

Turkey sandwich. It typically comes on focaccia, but I asked for a baguette today. Delicious and fresh!

What's not to love? This place is amazing! The food is so FRESH, from the salads to the baked items. They use quality ingredients here and everything is homemade. The bread is just to die for. I've never gotten a sandwich I didn't like here. This time I ordered the turkey sandwich and requested it be on a baguette instead of focaccia. So yummy. I got a toppo as well, which was basically a small brownie bite. It was the perfect size dessert to have after such a big sandwich and it was tasty. I also enjoyed a Pigeon Cove kombucha, one of the numerous drinks they offer here in a small retail fridge (where they also sell hummus, water, homemade chicken salad, among other things). The interior is very cute with some shelving offering boutique-style sauces and kitchen items. There is some bar seating at the window, but not much - 7 seats total. There is more seating outside with some bistro tables on the sidewalk and benches. The service is fast - they move the line quickly and give clear expectations for when your order will be ready. Can't wait to come back next time I'm in Ipswich!

Worth driving a bit out of the way to visit. Excellent pastries and great coffee from Tandem. Small shop but typically easy to find a seat or two. Clearly they put a lot of effort in their offerings and they change often. TIP - Check their social to find what they have daily. Their seasonal savory tarts are delicious! Highly recommend.

Before it makes it to the mannicotti or lasagna it was intended for it will be devoured with crackers. Nevermind the fantastic caprese salads during the summer with the mozzarella. I highly recommend the cheese-making classes as well. I'd pay just to hear Luca's commentary on life, much less to learn how to make cheese from him! Although it wasn't busy, we waited quite a while even for beverages. When the waitress eventually took our orders, I asked for a cheese burger club sandwich, medium rare, add onions. My husband got a chicken parm sub. When we finally got our lunches, she served mine with no French fries, which I eventually received a few moments later. The burger on my club sandwich was so overcooked it was like a piece of shoe leather. There were no onions, and the minuscule piece of cheese didn't look or taste like cheese, but reminded me of a piece of curled up parchment paper. My husband's sub was fair but she forgot to bring him the glass of water he'd asked for and he had to keep asking for refills of his iced tea. Overall a dreadful experience when we had been looking forward to a tasty, quick meal. The first time we've ever been there, and also our last.

When you walk in, the place is beautiful- sort of modern rustic chic with beautiful string lights. We ordered mussels and wine to start. Mussels were fantastic. Meaty, flavorful and plenty for everyone. The entree is where it fell short for me. I got the shrimp pasta. While the flavor was there, when I cut into the shrimp they still looked pretty translucent to me. After eating one and cutting up a few others, I felt that they were undercooked. The waitress said they wouldn't cook them more but she could bring the plate back and ask if they were cooked through. My plate came back and I was told they were cook so I sat there pushing soft, nasty shrimp around my plate while just eating spaghetti. My boyfriend asked for a medium burger and it was definitely rare to medium rare. When this happens, generally you offer to bring out new protein cooked again or ask if the guest wants something else but I was just left to feel like I was nuts. Whatever, into dessert. Now for dessert, I thought we'd try the cookies and ice cream. cookies were completely raw ( not just soft) and also not hot and the ice cream on the plate looked like it was pre scooped and refrozen. While I loved the concept of this place. Relaxing getaway where you can just do it all onsite, I honestly would spare yourselves the experience of the restaurant or order fish and chips or fried chicken) and just dine in Newburyport.
