Croissants are a staple in my life so I was happy to come across this adorable little cafe. I had the quiche with a Ham and cheese croissant and a green tea. Everything was delicious! I came around 9:30am on a Saturday and was able to find a metered spot right down the street. Service was friendly and quick and there are a few tables for dine in. It was conveniently on the way to Good Harbor beach which was my next destination and I will for sure be back next time I am in the area! read more

I saw this spot pop up on Instagram and knew I had to check it out so dragged my mom (who lives nearby). We've now been a ton of times in the past few months and even had them do a platter of pastry for my sisters wedding brunch to highlight a local shop. Everything I've tried has been awesome and the people who work there are lovely!! The scones change and are delicious--strawberry, cherry almond, savory, all sorts of good stuff. The croissants are amazing. The chocolate almond croissant was decadent and awesome if you like ooey gooey deliciously sweet items. And the croissants in general are flakey in all the best ways. They also made a delicious, simple strawberry shortcake cake for my birthday that was simple--good tight crumb cake, strawberries, and whipped cream. Yum! The coffee is great--I'm a fan of Tandem Coffee so very happy to see it on Cape Ann. There are a few little bistro tables to sit at in the shop--fun to hang and chat with your neighbors, but my favorite is grabbing a few things and getting to the beach early to enjoy your coffee and snack and the setting. There's street parking on Main Street, right in front of the shop, and around the block. read more

This adorable little prize is located right next to the YMCA offices and gym, which I frequent almost every day...unfortunately I usually park past the Y and never noticed the Sandpiper Bakery until I started walking there, instead. I stopped in this morning after the gym, and was greeted by a pleasantly warm and friendly young man who was helpful in all of my questions. He was enthusiastic not only about accommodating me but in the information he had for every bakery item...you could tell that he is proud of the products they are putting out, and the overwhelming aroma of delicious pies, cookies and other treats proved that he was right to feel so. I got a breakfast sandwich that he so obligingly altered a bit for me and it was marvelous. I also purchased a pouch of homemade granola which I have yet to try but am eager to, as I expect I will not be disappointed. The last item I got was a small iced coffee, black, and I was pleased to taste that it was not watered down and flavorless (as so many iced coffees are). I am happy I stopped into this gem and am also so sad that I did not find it sooner, as I am moving in a couple weeks and wish I could have been a more regular visitor, but will be recommending to my friends!! read more

I had the salmon toast and coffee. The toast was so flavorful, with dill, pickled onions, cucumbers, and cream spread on fresh made whole wheat sourdough, the best salmon toast I've ever had. I'm usually an Americano drinker, but the drip was fresh and flavorful, however, I understand why they don't do espresso-based drinks, more labor, and expense. read more

Oh my, this place really deserves all of its stars! After a disappointing dinner out the night before, we were not looking forward to breakfast in Gloucester. I didn't want a carb heavy breakfast, but figured I didn't have many options. We went into Sandpiper around 11 on a Sunday morning. We ordered the egg sandwich on bread (they were out of plain croissants by then), and we added bacon and avocado. It was AMAZING! Everything was perfectly cooked - crispy bacon, light fluffy eggs, and a delicious aioli. After a home run with the sandwich, we ordered a kale salad, which was also very good (maybe a tad too salty). The chai was also a nice treat. I will always stop by this place when we are in Gloucester for some amazing treats. read more

Sandpiper Bakery is the absolute best bakery on the Northshore. I absolutely love everything they have, whether it's for breakfast, lunch or dessert. Their breakfast goodies are to DIE for, their desserts are impeccable (truly the best chocolate chip cookies ever) and the sandwiches are SO GOOD. It's the best stop on the way to Cranes or for a coffee before work. They also have the cutest provisions which make great gifts - be SURE to try the granola!! read more

This is a hidden gem, a great bakery where everything I have tried is delicious. They offer classic French pastries such as different types of croissants and tarts as well as traditional American desserts such as cookies, pies and bars. Was a fan of Susanne's addictive treats at Canto 6 in JP and could not be happier to find her latest venture in Gloucester. Sandpiper Bakery will satisfy the most discerning pastry customer. Also they serve the best coffee in town from Tandem Roasters in Portland. I only wish they baked the savory loaves in house (they're from A & J King in Salem and Susanne's would be far superior) and offered espresso. Even with that being said, I LOVE this place. read more

The best peach pie ever! The crust was delicious and the peaches clearly fresh and baked just enough so that they were firm, not soggy. The staff are also very accommodating and pleasant. They are our go-to bakery for croissants and pies and other indulgences!! read more

Many bakeries have one or two really good pastries, but I believe everything here is great. I started with one pastry and then I had to try something else, and then something else. Stopped by today and really enjoyed our visit. Talked to the pastry chef and owner, sampled about ten different things. Our favorite so far is the mini-chocolate cake -- a mouthful of flavor!!! Everything was amazing--from a savory sandwich of beet, arugula, and cheese on a Paris-quality baguette to an incredibly moist and chocolatey banana bread. I really want this bakery to succeed: the baker is clearly a pro, especially when it comes to creating beautiful cakes for special occasions (check out site for photos). The chocolate cupcakes with butter cream are delicious, and so are the kouign Amanns, buttery, puffy, croissant-like breakfast pastries. But I was disappointed in the birthday cake I bought. I asked for strawberry and ganache filling, and got very little of either. The filling didn't even reach the edge. I had requested chocolate frosting, and got a mocha cream which looked great but didn't taste like much. The chocolate layers were fine but the yellow cake was a bit dry. Similar problem with blueberry muffins: not much berry. read more
