Classic breakfast sandwich on a biscuit
    Joy G.

This was a spur of the moment find on our way to Hammond Castle (also well worth a visit). We were hangry and looking for breakfast-ish options and Source Bakery more than hit the spot. Their menu is centered around the almighty biscuit - biscuits/scones are one of my favorite ways to inhale carbs but they can run on the too bread-y side of the spectrum. These were fantastic: delicate crumb, beautiful golden color, and sturdy enough to hold in all the sandwich fillings. I went with the classic breakfast egg sandwich (scrambled egg, cheese, and arugula) and added sausage. This was one of those rare situations where the bread vehicle outshined the fillings. The egg, while nice and fluffy (and tasted like real egg instead of the diluted mix I've had elsewhere), could have used some more seasoning and was begging for a healthy dollop of ketchup or hot sauce. The only thing that came through strongly was the salt crystals on the top of the biscuit. Tried a bite of my husband's chicken salad on a cheddar/onion biscuit and had the same reaction - the biscuit overpowered everything else. Not that I'm complaining. The bakery is on a side street off the busier, more touristy Rogers Street. I had this idea too late but next time I'm in Gloucester, I'd take a biscuit sandwich to the beach area along Western Ave. The cafe itself is very, very cute, with little nooks and crannies everywhere for seating and even a comfy looking couch. Bathroom was clean. We found a parking lot one street over in the other direction.

Stopped in before a work event and had the breakfast sandwich and a blueberry hand pie...came back two hours later with coworkers and had the coffee cake; this place is just that good! The biscuit is fantastic: slightly crispy exterior and fluffy interior. The hand pie was phenomenal as well. The coffee cake was good - the other two items stood out more - but then again, my taste buds may have just been desensitized by all of the carbs I had within a few hours. Highly recommend and will definitely return! Lots of seating inside and great for small groups too.

Warm, welcoming bakery and cafe. Their pastry is on point. Peach hand pies? Amazing. Savory quiche with a crust of tender buttery goodness? Delicious. Loved the collection of board games, and the local art on the walls. As an unexpected bonus, the space is quite large with lots of cozy seating and different areas to settle in while you tuck into your latte. A highlight for our little family while staying in Gloucester this week. We will be back!

This is a fairly new bakery in Gloucester tucked on a side street off Main. We tried the hand pies, feta &spinach and a potato, bacon, cheese. We requested they be warmed! Both were delicious. The crust was flaky, crispy and flavorful! The interior is spacious and open with high top options and comfy upholstered chairs at some 2 tables! We will definitely be back to try some of the sweet options !

Finally a coffee shop w delicious coffee in gloucester!!!!!! We were in town visiting for two days and we went there total of three times! Their cold brew is pure bliss and perfect! So good i had to buy the beans to make it at home. The place makes their baked good from scratch and EVERYTHING is delicious! Their yogurt w granola and jam is to die for, their biscuit is so crispy yet buttery, their apple crisp pie is rich w apple gooey warmth w the perfect amount of crispy crumbs on top. Their reubin breakfast sandwich was one of the best ive ever had and loved that it wasnt so meaty but more sauerkraut-y ! Everything is so so so good here i almost wish i didnt share it with anybody and i wish i stayed few more days to try everything on the menu. I told my husband i want to book an airbnb right across the street from this cafe! They have handpies, sandwiches, soup and cookies) The place is beautifully decorated w tons and tons of art making it a perfect place to sip and let your mind wander!

Fab! The Morning Glory muffin is my favorite. Super good. The handpies, also good. This team makes my morning. Seating allows plenty of room, and the crowds fluctuate like the tide

I just had the most amazing hand pie ever. You could smell the butter when they warmed it up. I wanted to lick the plate. This place is super cute and tucked away from main street. You must stop here...YUM!

I went here with my friend recently and I have nothing but amazing things to say! The person who helped my friend in I was so friendly and patient while we debated on what goodies to get. The pastries themselves are AMAZING! I got the quiche as well and it was delicious (plus they warmed it up for my friend and I)! I can't wait to go back!

Amazing pastries, Little Wolf Coffee (out of Ipswich), and hands down the best breakfast sandwich on the island.

All 3 of us ordered the egg sandwich. It's cooked egg (like a puck) on 2 slices of plain bread with about 1 teaspoon of cheese that is such a small amount that it doesn't cover most of the egg. That's it. Not enough cheese, no butter, no salt, no pepper. Nothing. They don't even toast the bread. If we had tasked our 6 year old nephew to making us egg sandwiches, this is what he would hand us. My cousins had coffee. One hot and the other cold. Hot reportedly is pretty good and the iced is not very strong. I ordered an iced tea. When iced tea is made fresh from actual tea (a good thing), then sits in the fridge for 6 or 7 days (a bad thing), it gets a very distinctive stale taste and that's exactly what this iced tea had. It was old and stale. I threw it away and since the egg sandwich was so dry, I pulled a bottle of water I had in my beach tote to wash it down. My cousin asked the friendly staffer (super friendly, actually, so a shout out to them) for some salt and this turned into a task. She had to ask someone else and that person had to go off somewhere to get some from a plastic container. If you're going to serve unseasoned food, have salt available, please. I ordered a croissant, which was OK and my other cousin ordered a blueberry slab dessert that was smothered in so much icing that it was sickeningly sweet. We joked that eying it from the side, the icing was thicker than the pastry itself. One of us grabbed a knife and tried to scrape some off to no avail. It fell apart, none of us wanted any more and we tossed most of it. I like to support small businesses, but this was not a good experience for us.
