My boyfriend and I return to Rockport throughout the year to visit since it means so much to us and this cafe is a must go stop every time. They offer a variety of things from coffee, to lattes, to soup, to refreshing teas. I don't think we've ever had a disappointing visit here. We mostly love coming in the summer due to the fact that their seating area is right above the water and gives you an amazing view. Listen, a cup of soup and a latte while looking out at the water changes something in your soul. I will never not love going to rockport and getting something from Bean and Leaf. I really enjoy our tradition of grabbing a coffee and their hummus wrap and eating by the window and staring at out at the water and the occasional duck swimming below. I am giving four solid stars for their delicious and strong lattes that we get with oat milk. They have an extensive menu and a display case full of pasties but only one plant based option. (Hence the hummus wrap for breakfast) Would love if they could expand or be able to substitute some ingredients for their patrons that enjoy this spot and want to be able to support even more but have dietary allergies. read more

We stumbled into this little cozy cafe while walking around the Rockport downtown area. It's one of the few places that is open in the winter off-season. Cappuccino and sandwich wraps really hit the spot- we got the turkey wrap and bbq roast beef. Not a lot of seating in the back dining area but it's quite pleasant to sit and enjoy the sea view. Bean & Leaf is an option for a light lunch when you're visiting the town of Rockport. It's located close to Motif #1 and around a lot of artisan shops. There's walking distance street parking, which is free if you don't go between April 15th and November 15th. They have limited seating indoors but there's a great view of Cape Ann. The entree variety wasn't that diverse, but the selection of home baked desserts looked great. The service was good - I got my food quickly. I ordered the Minestrone, which wasn't seasoned but had lots of fresh vegetables. read more

We were lucky to get one of the few seats in the back which had AWESOME harbour, beach and across the harbour views. Amazing backdrop to have some coffee, tea and wraps. Came to Rockport yesterday and was surprised most places were actually closed, but not Bean & Leaf! We stopped in for a quick bite and it was actually quite busy. I liked how the tables had a nice view of the water too! The girl working there was by herself but she did a great job not only taking orders, but making all the drinks as well as all of the food, so shoutout to her! The drinks were good, food was good. Soup was huge too! And it was tasty, and honestly I'm kinda picky with clam chowder but I liked this one. If I go back I want to try a tea as most people seemed to be ordering them. Well if this ain't one of the cutest little covfefe shops I ever did see. Decent prices for good covfefe. Limited seating, but if you get a seat - hoo boy. You have yourself a really sweet view of the bay and the marina. Beautiful. I also got the chocolate hazelnut croissant. (Don't judge me - I was on vacation.) Holy cow - delicious! And such a gooey center? That thing was a meal! Highly recommend. Dunno the name of the individual working whenever I went in. They were super nice and engaging. Really, if I could pick up Bean & Leaf and bring it back to Philly with me, I would. But I can't, so I'll just have to go back to Rockport and visit again in the future. We were just looking for something light for lunch and the Black Dog shop recommended this cute cafe. Shout out to Black Dog! Reviews looked great on yelp, so we decided to try it. We were helped immediately by the gal at the counter when we stepped in. The establishment appeared to be very clean with nice vibes. The windows facing the ocean at the back of the cafe brought in a lot of natural light and drew us in. Very basic menu...but we weren't looking for anything fancy. We both ordered salads, and proceeded to find a table in the back. Not too many options, but that's expected in a small cafe. A nice young guy brought out our salads and we enjoyed them and our oceanfront view. The vegetables were very fresh and you could tell they were kept cool and washed. I'm a very picky salad eater! If you're walking around Rockport, and don't want fried seafood or lobster rolls, I highly recommend this cute cafe. Healthy, clean and super quick service delivered by a friendly staff! read more

We drove to the Bean & Leaf Cafe in order to use their internet and grab a good drink and snack. We arrived before 5 to find the door locked. I could see people inside that were at the tables in the back. A staff person came by and told us that the website is incorrect. They were already closed. When I asked why it was wrong on the website they stated that they were trying to get it changed. We are now at the Rockport Library until 5pm and not sure where else to go to finish our work. read more

Small coffee shop that offers, besides lots of coffee drinks, breakfast sandwiches, pastry, desserts, lunch sandwiches and salads. There are 4 tables in a sunny room in the back. The restroom (one for all) is to the left of the entrance. They advertise Lavazza espresso, which is my favorite brand, but I'm not sure the coffee I received was Lavazza. The 'bite' didn't seem correct. Not sure most folks drink espresso 'straight' so I'm sure no one would notice. It was a nice bold coffee and they offer a lot of ways to drink it. We ordered two sandwiches and they are quite large. In my usual style, I ate half and brought the other half home with me. The turkey was thin sliced cold cut turkey and the sandwich was prepared so you have a row of turkey, a row of cucumber, a row of feta and so on. In a sandwich this big it was impossible to get a mouthful of everything all at once. The red onion was sliced with the outer skin on, so every bite of that I was having to pull a full piece of skin out of my teeth. When I first saw the roast beef sandwich I couldn't locate the beef, then realized it's along the edge, just not quite as abundant as the turkey. Otherwise, the construction is the same and I am told the 'sauce on there' is quite tasty. I ordered the lavender lemonade they had advertised on the sandwich board by the door and it was tasty. Sweet and tart. My SO got a can of gingerale. Napkins, forks, straws, etc are on a self-serve station across from the counter where you order. The staff were very polite, patient and friendly. The seating area is full of windows to take in the view, everything appeared to be clean, there isn't a lot of real estate inside to wait while your order is being prepared so if you are in a group it is probably best to leave one person to gather the order and the rest wait outside or at a table. This shop is located down the road from a jetty which could be a nice spot for a picnic if the weather is fine. Rockport is such a cute town and they have plenty of seafood restaurants, but if a sit down seafood dinner is not your jam, or you are looking for a sweet treat or caffeine boost, this could be your spot. read more

One of the best coffees I've ever had honestly. We stopped in while visiting Rockport. Thank GOD they were open later than stated hours because I really needed some caffeine. We had to wait on line for a while before ordering, but it was worth it. The employee was super friendly and patient. I ordered a hazelnut cold brew with soy milk and it was CRACK. Holy shit. GF ordered an iced vanilla latte which she equally enjoyed. The seating area overlooks the marina and is a perfect spot to sit and relax with a beautiful view or snap an insta-worthy photo. Only bad thing about this place is that it's expensive. I can't remember exactly how much it was but it was obscene for two iced beverages but probably not too far off from Starbucks. I discovered bean and leaf cafe when I began working in Rockport ma this summer. I traditionally go to brothers brew and decided to try a new spot where I was extremely disappointed. The first time I went here, I called in a to go order 20 minutes prior to arriving, a breakfast sandwhich and coffee. when I arrived the line was out the door. I walked to the front where the cashier made me aware I would need to wait in the entire line for a takeout order-which defeats the purpose of take out. when I finally got to the front of the line 15 minutes later, my order was still not ready. I waited a total of 50 minutes for a small latte and bacon egg and cheese. I decided to give them another shot today, when I ordered an avocado toast and small coffee. I was given my coffee and waited an additional 35 minutes for my avocado toast. There was 2 people in line Infront of me when I arrived. When I mentioned it to the cashier she argued with me that is because of the summer and I need to be patient. I reminded her breakfast sandwiches shouldn't take over 30 minutes at any given point. Especially in a take out cafe- maybe a sit down restaurant That is over capacity. Maybe they should try training there staff to stop taking orders if they are unable to fulfill them. I only go to Rockport in the winter time because there's less tourists, and there's something beautiful about the stark cold. Not many shoppes are open in the January-February timeframe, but Bean and Leaf is -- which is great for warming up in after a cold winter walk along the Bearskin Neck. read more

Made a quick stop at this place as my bf and I were really hungry on a Sunday afternoon when a lot of restaurants in Rockport were closed (maybe due to it not being lobster season anymore or it being a Sunday but who knows?). This place was good for what it was, a cute cafe with a great view to eat. The wrap that I had (Roast Beef Wrap) was pretty good, nothing to rave about but I definitely enjoyed it. The Fruit Creme Brûlée I could have gone without, as it tasted more like a fruit tart. There were definitely better options I wish I tried. In conclusion, good place but I'd probably try somewhere else next time if more places were open. read more

Today we went to Bean and Leaf Cafe for a a late lunch. The cape cod chips we ordered had mold inside them. I addressed this issue with the barista who simply informed me that she could give me more chips but there is nothing else she can do as the chips are packaged. After she said this, I asked for my money back which she refused. This is very poor customer service and reflective of a lack of interest in taking responsibility for food safety. read more

Picture this; you've just swam about 3 miles in the freezing North Shore waters, and you haven't stopped chattering your teeth for about an hour. It's 9 PM and you desperately need clam chowder. You walk into the Bean & Leaf Cafe as they are closing and they give you the LAST TWO servings of clam chowder. Score. Also your boyfriend is about to pee his pants and they let him use their SPOTLESS, clean, COVID-free restroom to relieve himself. Incredible. You then go ahead to drink the clam chowder in a single gulp. It's rich, warm, hits the spot. Decadent. 10/10 would recommend. Excellent location, service, and food. Super cute mom & pop coffee shop on Bearskin Neck! Very quintessential New England feel. Took my mom and sister here and they put a pin on the world map of "where are you from!" I loved that nice personal-touch decor. Stop in for a strong, yet flavorful espresso or coffee and ogle at the homemade pastries behind their glass case. I ordered a latte and it was piping hot with not too much foam-to-espresso ratio, which I appreciate. They do not have stevia, which was a little disappointing. Their bathroom (one room stall), was clean and well-maintained. Overall this is a great cafe for a quick bite/coffee alone or with some company. Been coming to Rockport and getting drinks and food at this place for years and have never had a bad experience until today! We ordered two frozen caramel lattes that were delicious, up until we found small sharp pieces of glass/plastic in our mouths after taking a sip(in both drinks). The cafe was happy to give us new drinks, but gave us a small instead of a large when we paid around $7 for each our drinks. A small was around $5. We ended up getting $10 of the $14 we paid, and they were happy to give it back to us. Overall the customer service was great, and always has been great. But finding sharp object in your drink definitely made me never want a drink from there again. Please be aware and look inside your drinks before taking a sip! read more
