Coffee was okay but this cafe had the single worst banana muffin I have ever eaten in my life. Definitely made with artificial banana flavoring and tasted like a laffy taffy. read more

A very fun café with especially impressive breakfast items that looked tantalizing as we waited for our order, like lots of yogurt, fruit, and granola bowls. I had visited a number of years ago I realized, and it looks largely the same, like a cozy surf shop within a café including merchandise and zesty decorations around. It's popular and can get cramped with everyone waiting, so there's also an outdoor patio kind of seating area too. The entrance is an unassuming storefront on the main street of Gloucester and down a set of stairs. I had to order the special golden hour latte, a sublime mix of vanilla, cinnamon, and honey flavors with vanilla cold foam. It was one of the best lattes I've had in a while! To eat I had the avocado bacon bagel, a wonderful menu item that hit the spot. Everyone there is very nice. Castaways is a memorable breakfast place, for sure worth visiting if you're in the area during the morning and early afternoon. read more

Such a fun concept for a coffee spot. If you're in the Gloucester area, definitely stop by to check castaways vintage cafe. There's a ton of great food and drink options including fun coffee specialties. I was able to customize my iced coffee order and it tasted really good! There's plenty of space to get work down inside as well as a patio. The cafe also has a store attached with a cute beachy vibe if you're looking to buy apparel and things. read more

This is the cutest cafe with a little shop in the front. The interior and exterior were both decorated with a beachy theme. It had surfboards and a raised couch for a photo spot. The drinks itself were good, nothing crazy but good place to try. The wait itself is a little long as they are pretty busy. read more

I got the lemonade. It was juicy, yellow and refreshing. The service was fast. The place reminded me of a surf shop and Rhode Island.

this is the definition of a hidden gem. This cafe is snuggled in between old buildings and is tucked at the very back of a vintage store. There's two entrances to this cafe but both are not handicap accessible. It's surf shop themed and offers creative latte flavors for the different seasons. I got the toasted banana latte with almond milk and my boyfriend got the black raspberry mocha. He's a big mocha fan and liked the mocha aspect of his drink, but wasn't a huge fan of the raspberry. I however, LOVED my banana latte. I'm a huge fan of all things banana and was pleasantly impressed with this drink. The sweaters and clothes they have for sale are so dangerously tempting to buy! Of course I couldn't leave this place without a sweatshirt which I can't wait to wear throughout the year. I'd rate them a 10/10 on vibes and coffee! Such a cute place with cute atmosphere. It's worth the stop if you're in the area. read more

What a cute little local coffee shop in Gloucester!!! We loved it and all of our coffees and food was perfect to start our day! Loved the surfing decor and the service was awesome read more

The concept of this place is VERY cool. I imagine it gets packed in the summer. Their outdoor seating it's beautiful and they have different kinds of lounging spots such as tables and standard chairs, swinging chair, couches, reclining chairs, and even this cute comfy corner seat inside the place. There are multiple entrances and each one feels like you're entering a new world. They have a sweater and tee shop inside too also with other trinkets. The decor is what makes it feel like you're at a surf shop by the beach. I also love the bright colors, it really makes the place feel happy. The bathroom was also very cool. The walls were decorated with vintage records. I ordered the castaway smoothie. It was pretty good although the pineapple and banana did overpower the other flavors in there. There were still a few chunks of unblended pineapple at the bottom but it just made for a good snack at the end. My friend ordered the van chai and surprisingly you could taste the chai. Think of it as a combination of chocolate chai and that's what it taste like. Shameless plug but we did come here after whale watching at Cape Ann whale watch. read more

Castaways Vintage Cafe is a true Gloucester gem! Bianca, the owner, pours her heart and soul into this special café. I remember meeting her years ago when she spoke about opening a smoothie shop -- love that she did just that and so much more. Her entrepreneurial drive, creativity, and love for her hometown shine through in every detail. Castaways Vintage Cafe isn't just a café -- it's a community hub. Whether you're in the mood for a specialty coffee, fresh smoothie, delicious açaí bowl, or some of the coolest local gear in town, this is the place to be. A must-visit stop in Gloucester -- and a local favorite for good reason! read more

The cafe's daily operation is run by a group of kids who are too busy on their phones while working in the kitchen and even at the register. They serve their friends first before people who were ahead of them in line and sometimes forget to make your order. Every time I've been in there I've had bad service. Don't waste your time, you'll have better luck at Dunks. read more

Super fair pricing for solid coffee, a dog-friendly patio, good smoothies, okay acai bowls and great bagels! Super fun location, too.

Great cappuccino and green smoothie enjoyed with a friend in the garden/patio. Friendly and polite baristas. Cute merchandise in shop.

If you are in the area, even remotely, I highly recommend checking out this cute cafe! Some friends and I were visiting the area from Alabama for a bachelorette trip, and we decided to check out this the cafe to grab coffee to get the day started our first day. Our drinks (iced coffees, hot coffees, green tea, and hot chocolates) were all absolutely delicious! One of the girls got an açaí bowl there as well that I tried, and it was amazing! We all ended up leaving with a sweatshirt and/or tshirt for ourselves, and some of the girls took their other half's a shirt home as well. The hospitality of the small staff, and the local regulars we encountered while there were wonderful. So much so, we got up early the next morning to get more drinks and to pick up some cute hats for the day since it was going to be raining before riding over for a day in Salem. The bride went with a white hat, and the rest of us wore black to go with our spooky themed bachelorette and we rocked our "NOT DEAD YET" hats all day in Salem. We had SO many compliments throughout the day - and were sure to tell everyone immediately our raving reviews of this awesome coffee shop! Also, I read a review that talked about the price of their merch, it's worth it. Not only are their designs super fun, they're very unique (I cannot express the number of compliments our entire group received together and individually on the hats), and the hoodie I purchased, is by far one of the softest hoodies on the inside that I've ever bought. From a group of southern girls that know a thing or two about southern hospitality, thank you for being the go-to to get our days started during our short weekend in Gloucester! read more

I was under the impression by the name that it was going to be a vintage shop with a cafe. I was mistaken, the staff was friendly, but I think they were maybe a little overwhelmed, I placed my order and that was it. I assumed that I would wait for my order, it was not instructed to me to do so. I recieved my avocado toast and it was Delicious! The cold brew was good (better than Dunkin' and even Starbucks), I was just a little disappointed that it wasn't a vintage shop. All their item were new and branded with the coffee shops logo. It was a cute place to chill by the Harbor. read more
