Slow service, flies and vermin in the kitchen area, and ample seats summarizes this particular Cafe Nero location. The drink itself was ok. I got an iced mocha but it didn't really have a strong flavor of chocolate, coffee, or sweetness. The small pastry I bought was so unremarkable I don't even remember the name of it. The pastries looked delicious while waiting in line until I saw several flies and gnats landing onto the uncovered items. It gave me the instant ick. That's so unsanitary as I saw several fly right in and out of the garbage can too. The cafe itself has ample seatings great for catching up with friends, doing meetings, or working on paper. It's too bad they have pest problems and the drinks are mediocre. Also, this location only has street parking and it was challenging to find a spot. read more

This is such a cozy coffee shop to sit and sip your drink, read a book and watch the world go by! Which is exactly what we did a couple weeks ago during the holiday break. I got a hot chocolate and the hubs got a caramel latte. Latte was awesome and hot chocolate was good although not the best I've had. Service was quick and friendly. The place was somewhat busy but not too crowded. The books on the shelves above give it that library feel and the fireplace, couches and comfy chairs give it that living room vibe (see pictures). It's a fairly large space with ample seating with a mix of booths, communal table and couches. We did have to move some empty cups away from the table we wanted to sit at which the staff came and got after some time - so maybe more frequent clearing of tables would be great. Their lattes were fine, but their iced matchas were DELICIOUS. Their pastries also looked delicious, especially their muffins (I always eyed their pistachio muffins). Having gone to NEU, this Nero is in a great location. Obviously, it's right next to Whole Foods, and a bunch of delicious food places like Ichiban, Pho Basil. However, I must warn you that it is always packed - especially with students studying or on coffee dates. The thing that disappointed me the most with this location honestly is their grab and go service. The few times that I had ordered a latte or matcha via UberEats or Grub Hub and picked it up, I arrived and the order wasn't even there/ready and the staff looked confused, and honestly were quite rude about it. I had to prove that I had actually placed my order and having lived like 15 mintues away, I walked here, for a single drink which hadn't even been prepared so this was quite disappointing tbh. read more

Really glad they opened in this location. I work next door and it's great to have coffee and espresso options! Previously you only had what you could grab from Whole Foods. The inside of all their stores are beautifully decorated. Like an old library, I really enjoy the cozy feeling and the nice chairs. I come and kill the last few minutes before work. That said the drinks are great and they have a punch card to get a free one, which is awesome because they are a little more expensive than other coffee places. Food wise, this chain lacks. All the food is peer made and they only have pastries for breakfast. I wish they had bagels. Not even fancy sandwich bagels, just a simple bagel with cream cheese would be great. First time trying the zucchini bread at Caffe Nero. After first bite I thought they gave me the wrong one because it tasted like the banana bread. I went to the staff they told me it was the zucchini bread. However, I wasn't convinced at all due to the taste. I purchased another one the banana bread. You know what they tasted pretty much the same; both are very sweet. I guess the banana bread had more of the banana rates than the zucchini one. I love Caffe Nero, but I found this location a little worse than others. It's a very popular location, so I'm sure some of my criticism stems from that. When I arrived, I had a difficult time finding a seat and had to go on the hunt. I finally found a booth that they reserved for two people (never seen that before, but again, this location is very busy). Luckily, I was with a friend so we snagged it. The overall decor was typical, but it all seemed a bit worn down from overuse. I ordered a London Fog, and they made it incorrectly (no vanilla), which was fine - perhaps a result of the long line. The workers seemed a bit stressed due to the volume, but they were working hard. When I first arrived, the poor guy was all alone so that was a challenge. The bathrooms are very dirty. That is probably my biggest complaint, and again, likely a result of a high volume of foot traffic. Normally, Caffe Nero is pristine, so it came as a surprise. Overall, I'd definitely stop by again if I was in the neighborhood, but not for an extended stay. This isn't the right location for studying, etc. read more

Caffe Nero does not respect the line. My gf was next in line and this male barista overtly ignored her and took the order of the customer behind her first. When another female barista informed him that we were actually in front of the line, he didn't care and continued. Not coming back here again. Save yourself from poor treatment. My old apartment was across the street from this location and it was the perfect study spot. Good amount of ambient noise that blurs together without disrupting your work flow. Plenty of outlets and free water too! All cafe neros have a similar book/ vintage store vibe. It feels very welcoming and at home. The coffee is stronger than what you would normally get in coffee chains. They put two shots of espresso into each cup of coffee, which I really like. They also have a good selection of food and snack options as well. So you could literally spend the whole day here if you feel motivated enough to do that much work. read more

Very good Caffè Nero. Location is great, since it's very close to Prudential Center and Newbury Street, as well to Fenway Stadium (10 minutes to walk). Access the street Boston Symphony Orchestra. When you seat there (and you now all this places) it feels like you exactly in the heart of Boston, everything is very close. There are a lot of space to work. Almost all tables and seats are equipped with doubled socket, which are very indispensable when you have laptop and a phone. Also, they have outside tables. It's cool to seat outside when it's not mortally hot (how it were last 2 weeks) and not raining (like it is las 3 days). Stuff is very friendly and always happy to talk with you. Ok, I know lots of people really love this place. I'm not one of them. One star for the outdoor seating area and one star for being located in a convenient location next to a parking garage. One more star for being clean. That is it. Probably more towards a 2.5 versus a 3. The staff seemed extremely uninterested and dead inside. It wasn't too busy when we were here on a Sunday before a show at the Huntington. We stood there waiting for service for a good few minutes. They recently started serving matcha latte a couple of months ago and honestly the worst I've had in Boston. They use powder and the size small serving is really small (just a 50 cents cheaper) - I think it's better to just go to Tatte or Jaho. I've never tried the hot food because it never looked good to me, but I often don't see people finishing theirs either which kinda says something. Also, slow and rude customer service. The product is quality. The staff is friendly. There seems to be a lot of disorganization behind the counter. The process of ordering to receiving your coffee or food seem like a juggling act. I will order from one person, then another starts it, the she goes off to the register, someone else looks around and asks me if I am helped, I tell them yes, then another person picks up on my order where the other left off. My coffee is done, now the original person who started the order brings me to the register while someone else charged me. I see they gave me a porcelain cup and I told them it was a Togo order. 7-9 minutes later I have a cup of coffee and by now it's like warm. Some training needs to be done behind the counter. Cafe Nero opened up recently in the spot formerly occupied by Unleashed. It is across the street from Whole Foods. My first visit was pretty awful. I decided to give them a try on an afternoon and ordered a large chai tea latte and a pistachio muffin. This cost me $7.22. I asked for a non-fat no foam latte. When I saw the barista getting ready to put the plastic lid on the paper cup and noticed the foam I reminded him I asked for no foam. Little did I know a third of the cup was filled with just foam. When I got home and sat down I discovered my cup was one-third empty. Apparently if you ask for no foam they don't give you liquid. To add insult to injury I discovered that the green "pistachio" muffin was really an artificially flavored walnut muffin. All in all I amnot impressed. Several weeks later I decided to give them another try. I ordered a light roast coffee in a mug. Their coffee is really good -it has woodsy aromatic and floral notes and is not bitter lile Starbucks or Pavement's coffee. I decided to sit and discovered this was a nice place to do work. Free wifi for 3-h and plenty of electrical outlets. This positive experience led me to visit again. This time I ordered a coppa frittata. This was another pleasant surprise. Very filling and tasty. Since then I have become a somewhat happy repeat customer. Be careful not to ask for a tall cup of coffee because they will give you a tiny cup. If you find you like Cafe Nero they have an app and they also have a paper card that they will stamp so you can accumulate credit toward a free cup. read more

Let me start by saying, traditionally I love Caffe Nero as a chain. I feel they have a better quality than Starbucks and I love the atmosphere of a cozy reading room. I was so thrilled when this location opened up, I thought I had a new regular spot. It was a great new regular spot, until they messed up my drink. And messed it up again, and again. Today, the barista completely skipped me in the line as they work on multiple orders at a time and forgot that I hadn't ordered yet. As other reviews will tell you, your drink often gets messed up due to this system of ordering. I know this happens, it's a system that allows for lots of error. To mitigate this, I usually double and sometimes triple check my order with the barista before paying. That said, on multiple occasions, I still get the drink made incorrectly. It's a great place to sit and get work done or meet a friend. You'll probably get a good drink, it just might not be exactly what you asked for. read more

Glad they opened a location near NU and Berklee. There's always a need for more areas to study and/or meet with friends because other coffee shops in the area are always crowded. I like that it's pretty spacious and there's outdoor seating too (some other locations are much smaller) so even when it's busy, you can usually find a seat. I typically get an americano or cappuccino and the staff are friendly and make the drinks well. As for food, the snacks are relatively pricey, but this goes for all the locations. But if you are hungry, I think the vegan berry muffin is worth it! read more
