I love this place just started working downtown and came here to get a coffe and got one of there vanilla lattes (completely In love with by the way) so today I thought if change it up and got a regular cup of coffee so smooth and rich. A mozzarella tomato sandwich with kale chips. Awesome too safe to say I love this place now. They people that work here are very friendly too. I suggest everyone to stop in here. Great atmosphere, nice location, and decent place to study. It's pretty quiet except every time I've been in the bartenders chatter with each other a bit loudly. Not a huge deal though if you are not studying/enjoying the peace. read more

Not the best place for a quick stop while traveling. Parking is difficult and not very accessible. The meal was decent and flavorful, I ordered the kale chips though and just could not finish them die to the high salt content. Even though the building was nice and clean and the energy was very relaxed, I don't expect to stop there again. read more

Beautiful hipster looking space with friendly staff and great coffee. It's a great place to work on you laptop, catch up with friends or just sit and people watch. Go to the upstairs space for the best seating and to overlook downstairs patrons. read more

Stopped by here for coffee before leaving Tucson and it did not disappoint. I had an iced White Mocha with Almond milk and I can honestly say it was the best drink I've had in a long time. It was so good that we got another round to go! On top of that, service was very friendly and attentive. read more

One of my favorite places to eat whenever I'm downtown! I love their hummus plate, comes with fresh pita bread and veggies to dip in the garlic-tastic chickpea magic. Sparkroot has excellent coffee and serves a rotating menu of local & craft beers. They have wine, and (I think) liquor for their coffee booze drinks. Nice atmosphere, with a fun upstairs loft seating section. The staff are always really helpful & friendly even when it's busy there. A great place to meet a friend or just people watch as the crowds go by outside. read more

this place is basically for rich people. everything is way more expensive than it would be at other places, the seats are uncomfortable, they set things up so you don't stay too long (i.e. if you are somebody who does work at coffee shops and tends to hang out for awhile). tea is served without the bag/infuser so that you can't get a hot water refill. coffee is made one cup at a time, so you there are no possibilities for refills, you just have to buy a new cup. it's got a strange unfriendly too-cool hipster vibe. i went there a few times, likely won't be back. although i don't think it will matter much that they don't get my business, being downtown and in the middle of gentrification central, they'll probably still be able to make their rent without me. oh yeah, i saw that somebody else said something about this too- but multiple times i overhead employees complaining about other employees/management/owners (i don't know who exactly). super unprofessional and just annoying, really. if your employees aren't happy, you should probably change what you are doing. read more

This is the best coffee shop in Tucson. Lovely people work here and make the best dang coffee around. The space is light and airy and the music diverse and always on point. The snacks leave a bit to be desired for my sweet tooth but are filling, hearty, and healthy. read more

Been a couple times since moving to Tucson, haven't tried any food but the coffee has been tasty and not outrageously priced. Atmosphere is unique and the store has been fairly crowded both times I've been. Don't expect to find seating for more than you and a friend. I'd recommend going in for a cup of hot or cold brew coffee if you are in the area or just want to spend a couple hours in a fun coffee shop. read more

My wife had a lime soda and really liked it. I had a almond butter and fig jelly sandwich on ciabatta bread, heated in a press. It was very good. The coffee was a little strong, but it had a great taste. I can't wait to try their single source coffees when they have them. It is in a very attractive space. read more

I've yet to find a coffeehouse that I enjoy more than Sparkroot. First off, their coffee is amazing. I'm not a fru-fru coffee-drink-type. I don't get cafe au laits or mochas or frappuccinos or lattes. I usually drink a mug of coffee with a few drops of cold milk/cream, and maybe some sweetener, depending on how good the coffee is. When I go to Sparkroot, I always get the Giant Steps coffee. It's fantastic in every possible way: (1) it's delicious - complex, thick-tasting, bold without being overpowering; it's what coffee should taste like, (2) it's comparatively cheap - $2.50 for a mug, (3) it's STRONG - as in, "2 cups after lunch will keep you up after midnight"-strong; this is a good thing - I drink coffee for the buzz. A mug of Giant Steps with just an ounce or so of 2% milk makes me a very happy boy. Additionally, the physical space at Sparkroot is awesome: airy, hip, light, and not nearly as loud as Cartel. The service is friendly and quick, and the food options that I've tried (kale chips, homemade almond granola bar) are good. And, Sparkroot conveniently sells beer, wine, and liquor, so that you can mix your uppers and downers. I usually go for a $2 bottle of PBR or High Life. So, yes, I love me some Sparkroot and its Giant Steps. read more

I ate here today for the first time with a friend who said I HAD to try it and I am so glad I did! I had the caprese salad which was delicious! Ingredients tasted fresh and I really enjoyed the kalamata olives on the salad. I also had the toast with almond butter and honey...SOOO delish! I will definitely be coming back. read more

I love this place. I moved to Tucson from Brooklyn recently and this place is just as good (if not probably better) than many of the coffee shops in NYC. The tea is great and the veggie sandwiches are very yummy and filling. I also love the option to get some beer or wine. It is a great place to work or read or simply hang out with friends. The architecture of the building is lovely and the staff is generally very friendly and helpful. It sometimes gets crowded, but that is only because it is so great. read more

I recently moved to Tucson and I have been on the hunt for my perfect coffee shop. I've been all over town, looking for that perfect blend of atmosphere and outstanding coffee and at last, my search is over. I wandered into Sparkroot the other night for a cup of coffee while I did some light reading, and I was blown away. I ordered a small cup of black coffee, which the barista hand dripped. It was DIVINE. Not to mention, all of the staff was incredibly friendly. Sparkroot has a funky laid-back urban vibe, and being nestled downtown, it's perfect for people-watching. Everyone who was hanging out in the shop was also wonderfully friendly! It's a good feeling to finally find a coffee shop with the trifecta: dynamite coffee, good atmosphere, and wonderful people. read more

I would give this a five because I love the atmosphere, the coffee, and the food, but the service on the food is SO SLOW. I waited for almost 20 minutes for my food, about the last 5 of which I could just see my food sitting there. Everything was already on the plate so I don't know what the extra wait was for. This has been a consistent thing here, but not wuite to the extent that it happened today. Other than that, love this place! read more

Tried it, liked the Green tea. The atmosphere was perfect for an early Friday morning before the work day. It's pretty laid back and quiet, can't speak to the afternoon crowd, but I'll definitely be returning in the mornings. read more

I love the style of the place and all of the little details like the track thing that the food tickets slide on, the parchment wrapped bars, & the jars the cold drinks come in. I had a mocha which I had been craving since I read Marina M's review. It was really good and not super sweet like Starbucks (which I can't even drink). My friends also really like their drinks (iced tea & Americano). So why only 3 stars? It took FOREVER for our food to come out. We weren't in a hurry at all but it really took at least 25 minutes for the first panini to come out, then another 10 for the 2nd, then another 10 for the 3rd. Mind you, all of these were on the same ticket. I seriously could've made them at home faster without having the ingredients already prepped. They were literally making 1 sandwich at a time. The employees were nice & all but no one acknowledged the unusual wait time. I have no idea what was going on, it's not like there was a rush or anything. I realize it's a brand new place and everyone is still "training" but each panini had 3 or 4 ingredients at most and they were off the menu, not custom. read more

Nice healthy vegetarian fare in a trendy but friendly ambience. The sandwiches are mostly just fancy grilled cheese, but the bread and the cheese are high quality. The kale and quinoa salad was delicious. I thought the "blue bottle" coffee was overpriced and overrated compared to Cartel or Aqui, but I'm a coffee snob. read more
