LAMEST bread salad I've ever eaten. For $8.61 I got some mixed greens, a few small bites of soggy white bread, a few kernels of corn, some capers and a bunch of what I'd describe as "Italian-style Pico de Gallo". The salad was covered in this sub-par assortment of diced tomatoes, red onion, cucumber (very small amount and tiny pieces cucumber), and parsley. Oh, and to top it off the salad was sitting atop a puddle of very watery balsamic vinaigrette. I could not believe how watery it was. It makes me wonder whether these people have ever eaten a REAL bread salad?! I'm talking about one with lots of big chunks of good, day old crusty bread (or even croutons) that is softened by a delicious dressing/vinaigrette, along with some good size pieces of cucumber and tomato, some red onion, maybe some bell peppers, and fresh basil with or without lettuce. I almost brought my salad back in to ask for more bread seeing as I only had about four bites and shouldn't a bread salad be mainly about "the bread"?! But this bread wasn't even worth the hassle. No crunch or substance at all to it....just pure sogginess. Complete disappointment. I don't understand why there's always a good lunchtime crowd at this place. I've had the pesto pasta salad, which is much better, but the chicken in it was weird. I also was not impressed by the cobb salad or the soup I tried a while back. In my opinion, this place is overrated and over priced. I've given it several chances now and I won't be going back again...at least not for lunch. I can't speak for their coffee/pastries/etc. I only gave the second star because the service seems friendly and decent. read more

Seats are really hard, tea + desserts not special, finally they don't have wifi despite saying they do. There are also lots of flies zooming around the cafe. South Park is nice beside it, but I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

I work down the street and eat here probably 2-3 times a week. Their food is yummy but the prices are a bit expensive ($7 for a sandwich?). Also, the tables are small so I never eat there. And they only take credit cards if you spend $10 and up. Boo. For a latte I prefer the Butler and the Chief, but they're closed on Mondays, and I don't think they serve iced lattes. Peets is a long way up 3rd St. so I go here. One of my fav things on the menu is the Pasta Portofino salad which is delish! The turkey sandwich (hot) is very good too. But my favorite is the tuna casserole which they only serve as a special a couple times a month. All in all it's a pretty solid lunch spot. read more

Caffe Centro is a great coffee shop serving yummy food. My big beef with them is that if you live in South Park, as I do, it would be nice if this place was open on Sundays. Of all days to lounge at a coffee shop it's a Sunday morning. What establishment in a metropolitan city is closed on a Sunday? Very disappointing. read more

I won't lie, I wasn't knocked off my feet by this place. I tend to come here relatively often even though I'm not a huge fan as I work about 100 feet from this place. I don't bother with the coffee anymore (pretty bleh), but I'm kind of a coffee snob, so take that comment with a grain of salt. The sandwiches and salads are fine for a quick lunch. read more

Centro has been my lunch place since they first opened their doors in the early 90's. Located at beautiful South Park they serve great lunch dishes that fit in your tight lunch break. If you are in or near South Park at lunch time this is the perfect little place. Always fresh ingredients, and fair (for SF) prices. I use CC as my go to place to meet up with people over lunch. With South Park right there it's super easy to go out and enjoy the sun. You can't really go wrong with a sandwich. I used to get the cob salad a lot, although apparently avocado, bacon. and egg prevent this salad from actually being terribly healthy, who knew! read more

I wasn't overly impressed by this place the first time I went - my grilled chicken sandwich was distinctly average and the bread was a little soggy. BUT I was convinced to give it another go and I'm now a changed man. The grilled sausage baguette is fantastic and the chicken soup was great (with bread and a spoon which always helps). Cute cafe right on the park! Crowded at lunch but not too long a wait. They've fully embraced SF with a Yelp check-in reward (free cookie!), Belly (working on a free coffee!), and they even accept Dogecoin (definitely need to try that next time...hope the conversion rate isn't too ruff) I had the grilled chicken sandwich- no wrap option but I did multigrain to pretend to be healthy. It was a super plump, stuffed sando that was simple, yet delicious! Just the right amount of mayo, although I did hit a patch of pepper at one point. A South Park institution! I used to work near by in 2000 to 2002 (riding out the tail end of the dot-com bust) and would eat here several times a week--sandwiches, salads, a good cup of coffee and nice selection of sweets. Five years later, I find myself working in the neighborhood again and am happy to report that Caffe Centro is still going strong (with many of the same friendly faces behind the counter.) Love this place - solid espresso drinks and coffee, awesome paninis, and a very yummy mac and cheese special. Great for morning coffee and a quick bite. Word of caution: do not get their spinach/pesto lasagna. I think it's just regular lasagna of the frozen variety with a couple of spinach leaves thrown on the top layer and drizzled with pesto that has no taste. Stick to the basics and you'll become a regular. read more

My husband & I stopped by for lunch yesterday, and we both enjoyed our sandwiches. The baguette was definitely fresh---I liked my egg salad and he liked his salami. We both had the tomato bisque and it tasted great---nice and creamy. The staff was very friendly. We got there at about 1:00 and were lucky to get a table---seems like a good place to take a sandwich and sit at the park, if you like. We'll go back. read more

Being the office intern I was the one assigned to get coffee every morning for the rest of the office, I didn't really mind. The walk over to South Park is nice and Caffe Centro was always fun. By my second week on the job everyone behind the counter knew me and remembered my order. It is nice in the age of Starbucks to find place that are a little more original. And they don't just make good coffee. Their Spinach Salad is to DIE for. Orange wedges, Goat Cheese, and a nice orang dressing with some yummy bread. This spot is in a nice location, tucked away next to South Park, but other than its location, there is not much going for it. I had the BLAT sandwich, which is very plain and barebones and overpriced. I then asked to get loyalty points for my purchase, but the cashier acted dumb and said I couldn't add the points for my sandwich. I don't understand why they would offer a loyalty program and not give points for purchases, but doesn't matter to me, as I wouldn't come back here anyway. read more

Delicious! I love their Caprese -- fresh mozzarella (like, really fresh, tender), tomatoes, pesto, and the best foccacia. Try not to go exactly at noon or you'll end up waiting a bit. If you go around 1-2 there is usually not that bad of a line. read more
