Love it. My co-workers and I get coffee/espresso here at least once a day. Cheap, really tasty drinks and eats. It gets pretty crowded around 9ish and at lunch time. A few of the employees are kind of crabby and seem angry if you ask for a pastry but, oh well, I'd probably get annoyed at the loopy web editors like me asking for things they aren't sure they want all day too. Must pay cash if you're spending less than $10. Please tip them if you don't want to receive a scowl. Plus, they deserve it. read more

This is one of my favorite sandwich places for lunch in SOMA. Located in South Park, on a sunny day, there are a few seats outside or you can grab your sandwich to go and eat in the park. I particularly recommend the chicken sandwich or the caprese sandwich. The ingredients of the sandwiches are fresh and flavorful. All sandwiches are served cold but you can order them served hot on request. The foccacia bread is delicious, but if you are trying to eat a little healthier, all sandwich can be served on multigrain bread on request as well. read more

Great location in South Park WITH wi-fi, if you can find it or if it hasn't been secured by the neighbors. Location is perfect with a bunch of windows and outside seating for the warm sunny days. I didn't like the coffee and the food was blah to me. I had the cobb salad, which was plentiful, but over done with dressing and covered with chicken that I know was the frozen kind from Costco. I also tried the sandwich and I can't stand processed meat and what gives with no onions as an option? Overall it's a cool place to chill if you are in the area. read more

Really good fresh sandwiches and salads. Their veggie sandwich isn't just your run of the mill version- great eggplant, fresh pesto, fresh tomatoes and greens. Bread could be a little better (isn't quite homemade bakery style with lots of choices) but overall a great little lunch spot. Ah yes. When I feel like treating myself to a salad, I make the little trek to South Park and visit Caffe Centro. The pasta portofino is just full of pesto, garlic, chicken, balsamic goodness! I usually ask for some goat cheese thrown on top, and they never skimp! The nicoise salad is also great as an alternative. Ick! Their "chicken breast" sammie is actually fake formed junk! What's so difficult about getting an actual chicken breast? I'd pay more if it meant I didn't have to eat spongy, nugget quality pseudo chicken breast, full of gross fillers. It even has fake grill marks. Yuck, yuck yuck!! I use Caffe Centro as my dot-com barometer. I discovered Caf Centro during the height of the dot-com boom and would blissfully wait for 40 min. for a salad as I rubbed shoulders with other ambitious technorati. During the bust, I'd find ex-VPs of bizdev pensively writing that screenplay they'd never gotten around to. Now, with the buzz is building again. Their Salade Nioise is fantastic --- with the freshest chunk tuna I've ever had and potatoes and green beans that aren't over-cooked. Bring a book and eat outside in the park. read more

Anyone who carries good mozzarella is on my TOP list and these guys do. I love their simple food selection, fresh salads, excellent morning OJ and soups. They have exciting specials that I enjoy very much and I am their customer 2-3 times a week, which is big I think. The salads are a good deal for under $10. So far I've tried the Cobb and the Nicoise and both are piled high with veggies and meat/fish. The Cobb has plenty of chicken and bacon while the Nicoise has more than enough tuna. My only complaint would be the over abundance of dressing on both of the salads. this was one of my favorite lunchtime spots when i worked near southpark. i loved getting the turkey or roast beef sandwich (warmed) and sitting next to the large, open windows that overlook southpark. i also enjoy the rotating local artwork on display. if you're in a hurry, they have a convenient lunch window and counter paninis. read more

A small group from the neighborhood association has decided to sample some of the new spots in the 'hood, and this was our first pick. (Not a new spot, but new owners.) So happy to learn they have extended the hours to 8pm. Tried the chicken sandwich on toasted focaccia and it was delicious. Others had assortments of sandwiches and salads, and all were pleased. If you're considering just the quality of food & beverage, this is most definitely a 3: consistently decent, but by no means amazing. LOVE this place. In the land of overpriced food this is a GEM in SOMA. Not only are the people working there SUPER cool and friendly, but the food is great, and they don't chince on what they include either. (read my review on Small, who TOTALLY live up to their name). The Nicoise Salad is great here. I love that they have a to go window for lunch. Also, the street it's on is so quaint, you really don't feel like you are in the city. the walk to caffe centro was a bit further than i normally go to grab lunch, but it was worth the extra few minutes. i got the cobb salad with no blue cheese and the dressing on the side, and it was very good. it came with mixed greens, tomato, egg, chicken, bacon, avocado, and bread. the vegetables were really fresh, which makes a big difference when avocado is involved. the bacon was really thick and crispy, meaning perfect. the egg was a little overcooked, but i tend not to eat the yolk anyway. the chicken was moist and flavorful. i ended up pouring some of the thick balsamic dressing on the greens and it added a great balance to the salad. the restaurant was fast, fresh, and priced appropriately. if you happen to be in the area, it is a great take-out spot for lunch. read more

Cafe Centro is awesome. I eat here about 2 times a week and I'm always satisfied with their food. I usually have their bread salad or tuna sandwich. Good varitey, quick service and its in South Park which is a nice place to have lunch. Overall really happy its near my work. read more

They now have Açaí bowl which is sweet just like in Brazil. Really good, they cost about $7.50 including tax. The place is cozy and tidy.

Came here for the first time after living by them for 2 years, and wow. I wish I would've come earlier. It's located right next to the mini park in South Park - super cute area. And they keep all their windows open so it's a very nice little vibe going on. Next their sandwiches, where do I start... they were amazing. I got a turkey sandwich and the bread was sooooo soft and delicious - fresh and affordable af. I mean it was like $7 or something near there (most sandwiches in SF run you $15 plus tax). Then to top it off the staff was very kind and informative. So I give this place a 5/5 and I will be back :) read more

It's a nice place. Good food. I just don't think the price is worth what you get. Dishes could be a bit more creative with better ingredients like portabellos! Those are great for the type of sandwiches they make. I don't usually go here to much since I hardly carry cash and they do accept cc, however, it's a $10 min. If I didn't really have a tight budget for eating out and carried more cash, I would def come here again. Best part, it's clean, they play great salsa music and the staff are super nice. read more

This is a cute cafe right along a little park, but nothing too special about it besides their good service and sub-par sandwich construction. They have good healthy sandwiches, but one of their ideas of "healthy" is to put a single slice of meat and a single slice of cheese on a large sandwich stuffed with a pound of lettuce. I have no problem with the lettuce, but really, seven bucks should at least pay for something to hold you over until a late-afternoon snack. In their defense, I spoke up about my single-slice-sadness and they took the sandwich back to the kitchen, did something to it for a while, and voila, three more slices appeared with a generous amount of absurdly spicy mustard slapped in between them. read more

This place is cute, small, and local. You feel like you are part of the neighborhood and the park across the street doesn't hurt either! They have some great choices for food and the majority is really healthy! They have choices between large and small options which is cool for those of us who just don't need the entire sandwich! The staff is super friendly, and they get your order together fast! It can get a little busy during lunch time though so keep that in mind.
