On the web site it said this place is a little bit of Vegas, I can see why that is after walking in. The decors give it a a vibrant look that you can believe that you are in Vegas. Cafe Capri has reopened and is better than ever. They responded to safety concerns of COVID by making some renovations to open up their space in the bar side of the restaurant. They have glass moveable dividers at the bar which the bartenders use with each group, but have kept the same lovely ambience that makes dining there a lovely experience. The authentic Italian food is always delicious. This is a family owned restaurant with family recipes and the owners are always there greeting people and overseeing everything. Drinks are very good and generous and they have a very good Cafe Capri martini. We highly recommend it and plan on going as often as we can. read more

THE MOST AWFUL DINNER my wife and I ever had. A LOT must have changed recently. Alfredo sauce had to have came out of can, Tomato plant was cut in huge thicknesses. Probably the WORST MEAL we have ever eaten. And by the way how do you dare to charge the prices you do for terrible food. Was the place to go a few years back. If you go, you must start out with a martini. They have an eclectic selection and haven't had a bad drink yet! My favorite dish is the Chicken Allouette which is creamy and has red peppers, mushrooms, cheese sauce and chicken. Also, the salad bowls come out cold which leaves the lettuce more crisp and refreshing. read more

HATE HATE HATE CAFE CAPRI Food is good, atmosphere is the WORST We were seated directly behind the saxophone player. Table of women were drunk and disorderly. The server continued to serve them wine and beer. Server was delivering food to another table and one lady kept yelling HAY. HAY. HAY YOU, then she got up from the table and chased her down at the other table. One drunk lady?? Got up and started to try to sing with the entertainer. The decibel sound from that table was so loud we could not hear each other, and it was our wedding anniversary. One outburst was so loud it cracked my eardrum. We had been served three courses but before the main course was served we had decided to ask to get moved or just leave. The people at other tables were turning around and looking at what was making that racket. I know it is the bartenders responsible for overserving to the point of drunk......but in this case, when the server continues to serve to the point where every table was aware they were drunk, it is her responsible to cut them off. Molto Bene!!! I have never had "homemade" italian food in the states like I did at Cafe Capri. Let me set the stage. My mom and I took my 3 little kids to Cedar Point and were driving back to Pittsburgh around dinner time. I called a friend from Youngstown and he recommended CC hands down. For us not to even bother going anywhere else, this was the place. We arrive to the restaurant during a severe thunderstorm with flash flooding in our park clothes. The setting of the restaurant is warm, classy and grand. But not unwelcoming to our state of being. In fact, there was a lovely mix of business couples and young families. Onto the food. Excellent bread served with oil, garlic and parmesan to dip in. Salad with their house white balsamic dressing. The dressing was delicious and had enough of a touch of sweet to balance the vinegar. I ordered spaghetti with meatballs topped with Mama Q's sauce. MAMA Q, YOUR SAUCE ROCKS!!! JUST LIKE MY NANA'S. Meatballs. I don't think I had ever had perfect meatballs. These were IT. Excellent size and consistency. As though they were steamed. The moisture and texture was a beautiful balance of an excellent recipe. Perfecto! My kids got the Cavatelli and if I go again, I'm ordering it because I just love those noodles! If you love good, homestyle Italian food, go for Cafe Capri. I only tried the staples, so do yourself a favor and get Italian in Youngstown when you're in the mood for some soul food. read more

my grandparents absolutely love cafe capri, so we decided to go there on my recent visit. first off, their service is absolutely amazing. our waitress was extremely attentive and polite, constantly stopping by our table and asking how our food was. our water glasses never got empty and she answered any questions we had about the menu. foodwise, it's pretty much your typical italian fare. i really liked the breading on the calamari - super crunchy and peppery. i had the chicken capri, one of their specialties, and it was also pretty good. we also had the gnocchi, which was a bit overcooked. cafe capri definitely seems like one of the best restaurants in the youngstown area. if you happen to end up there, i'd visit cafe capri over any of the other chain restaurants you might find. read more

I've been in Cafe Capri a few times. The food and service are okay but the prices are elevated for pasta in Youngstown. Save your money or go to Salvatore's. 12.9.2013 I went back for a family party and confirmed that the food is vastly overpriced for the quality. I had the Pasta Capri; a large plate of pasta with too little sauce and a "Parmigiana Chicken Breast" that tasted like over-salted, deep fried chicken a la fast food.. Our table saw our waitress infrequently, despite the fact (or because) we were charged an automatic 18% gratuity. Bread was scare, drinks went unfilled and the waitress cleared some diners' plates and started processing checks before the entire party had finished their meals. Perhaps they ought to scale back the outrageous decor and spend a little more on chef and waitstaff training. read more

Food was great, chicken francaise was tender and the sauce was very flavorful albeit a tad on the salty side. My server was very nice, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu items. The bread with oil/cheese was very good, a nice change from just a standard bread and butter. Overall a very nice atmosphere and very good food. I would not hesitate to visit again when I am in town. This is usually one of our favorite places to eat but the latest visit did not go as well as usual. We had a reservation for Sunday evening at 6 PM for eight people.We were very disappointed in the way they handled our arrival, which we could tell wasn't unique to us. Three of us arrived at 5:50 for our 6:00 reservation. The restaurant was mostly empty. The hostess said our table was almost ready. Then later said she would wait for the rest of our party before seating us and asked if we wanted to sit at the bar for a drink which we declined. While we were waiting, a friend came in with her family, a party of five. They also had a reservation but had to wait. There were other people also waiting in the lobby. It seemed the lobby had more people waiting than were seated in the restaurant. The rest of our party arrived at 6:10 and we waited a little longer. We finally were seated at 6:20. Some other woman commented "what's the use of making a reservation?". Then we heard one of the staff say the kitchen was on hold. I asked our waitress what that meant and she said they were behind and they could not submit any new orders, but she thought it had been cleared again. We finally got drinks at 6:48 and after that things seemed to go smoothly and our waitress was attentive. But I have to agree, "what's the point of making a reservation"? The restaurant was far from full. Maybe they had too many reservations that had asked for 6:00. If they can't handle that influx of people at the same time then they should tell people that over the phone. Tell them 6 PM is booked and they will have to wait until 6:15 or 6:30. Don't make all of your customers stand in the lobby staring at all the empty tables. read more

The front desk clerk at our hotel in Austintown said we had to try it. We were so happy that we took him back a dessert as a token of our appreciation. The hot peppers and olives appetizer was amazing as was the bread and olive oil. Tossed salads were very good. My wife had the lasagne and I had a combination plate of eggplant and chicken parmesan with spaghetti. All were outstanding! Very large portions and what I think were decent prices especially for what you get. I moved from NE Ohio many years ago and sorely missed this type of Italian food. Thanks Caffe Capri for being exactly what we needed last week. I don't get back very often but will assue you I will be dining there again on our next visit. read more

I had the lasagna, it was pretty good. I wasn't a fan of the ground beef inside because it wasn't flavorful but the sauce on the lasagna was really good. The waitress was very nice, the house dressing and bread were great as well. Next time, I'd choose the chicken parm. read more

The place seemed clean even though I didn't go use the bathroom. I have a bad back and the chairs are very uncomfortable. I can't fully fault The restaurant for that. The service was average. My food was hot but not tastey. Just kind of blah. I fully expected more taste from a locally owned and bragged about restaurant. I'm not complaining, I'm just saying Linguini and White Clam sauce should have a flavor of clam. The biggest thing I didn't like was having to put the tip on my card and a full 20%. Only place in Youngstown to get a proper Old Fashioned. I go to the bar here very often, just for this one drink, but had an opportunity to sit down to a full meal for the first time. Ordered bruschetta thinking it'd be diced or cubed tomatoes, a sprinkling of grated parmesan and nothing more. I was extremely surprised to see a sizeable mound of chunked tomatoes, a medley of olives on the side, a banana pepper and a few other veggies. I bit into a tomato and was very pleased - very flavorful, balanced. Had the scallops for an entree. Again, very pleased. Tender without being chewy, not in the least bit tough. Flaked well in appropriate pieces. Scallops were surrounded by a decorative rim of mashed potatoes and the sauce was delightful. The house salad left something to be desired, but the dressing was spot on. One can't expect much from a house salad anyhow. Atmosphere is perfect for groups, couples or at the bar. This is one restaurant I will always look forward to patronizing. read more

My family and I went for lunch on a Saturday. The atmosphere was casual and the staff were all very fun. The food was great and the marinara sauce had a different taste for the area, but good. The tiramisu was really nice, we all enjoyed this desert. Overall, we had a great experience and will go back next time in town for a nice meal. read more

Caffe Capri is one of the most over-rated eating establishments in the Youngstown area. The atmosphere is nice, the service is good, but the actual food is just mediocre. Worse, my stomach is always upset after eating there. With so many Italian options in town -- I can't understand why this place is so popular. read more

Very good service, good food many to chose from, but the bread took a long time to come out to our table. There is bread behind my head on a booth from another family. When we got our food the pasta I got had a hair in it. The waitress took it off of my bill, so it was settled. There was also gum under my table when I put my leg up it got on my knee. Be very careful about eating at this place. On July 26, 2009 I visited and received extremely slow service. Then came the problem. I dipped my bread into the oil and took a bite. I was surprised by the pain created by a large piece of glass that was either in the bread or in the oil and cut the top my mouth. What was more disturbing was the lack of concern the manager, Mellie Straub had about the incident. All she seemed to be concerned about was getting her hands on the piece of glass. She didn't even come to our table to investigate the problem until we canceled our meals and was ready to walk out. Later in talking with other people in the area about the place, we were told that it had gone down hill recently. I will never go back to the place. read more

I've been to Caffe Capri many times and it has been my favorite restaurant for quite some time. But after my last visit on February 20th, I'm not sure I will be returning. First off, two of us had reservations for 6:00 pm and when we arrived, we were not seated until 6:35. Not only were we slightly irritated because we were hungry, but the hostesses were extremely rude. When we were waiting, they were whispering to one another with their hands covering their mouths. It seemed as if they were talking about us, as a matter of fact I'm fairly certain that they were. Not only is that incredibly rude, but that is very unprofessional. When one of the hostesses finally sat us, she threw the menus on the table and sarcastically mumbled "Have a nice meal." The only reason I am giving this review two stars instead of one is because of the lovely waitress we had. She was very nice to us and she was also attentive. Our waitress got our food out to us in a very timely manner. We were pleased with her service. Overall, we have been quite unimpressed with the hospitality and service of the workers. If I were you, I would NOT recommend eating at Caffe Capri. read more
