They were a little busy, understandable, it was getting closer to the peak dinner hour. I get that they may have been short staffed, however, someone could have at least acknowledged our group. It did take a long time for our server to return. There was the issue with flies, our group noticed a couple flies on the table, however, when I looked up at the light fixture above our table, there must have been at least a dozen. I'm sorry to say that's not a good sight. Not sure why the place had an issue like that but they really need to take care of it. They did have lots of menu options and the food was very good. I ended up ordering the gnocchi and sausage entry... It was delicious!! One of our friends requested a special food prep because of a dietary restriction, our server was kind enough to accommodate that request. Struggled with the rating, wished I could have given them a higher rating but just couldn't.

We sat outside at sunset and there was a cool breeze and a large screen shielded us from the low angle of the sun. The menu is great, offering many choices and the ability to build your own pasta by choosing the type of noodle and the sauce and any added protein. The server was attentive at first but kind of disappeared when we needed to pay our bills and get back on the road. We were heading to Lake Erie for the weekend and still had a drive ahead of us. So the food was 50/50. My daughter had the gnocchi with a pink peppercorn Alfredo sauce which was delicious. My sister ordered the capellini with marinara and meatballs. Also good. The home made rolls are huge and fluffy and delicious. However my choice was white clam with linguine. Nowhere on the menu did it say it would be doused in tons of cracked back pepper. Now I love pepper. I add it to almost everything I eat like salad, soup, eggs, etc. But this amount of pepper was overwhelming the clam sauce. My sister in law had the same problem with her Aglio Olio sauce. Way to much black pepper. It ruined the dish for her. We all had huge portions and took them home but she left hers because she said it was so bad she'd never eat it if she took it home. So if you don't want all that black pepper in your food, ask the server to omit it. The dishes would have been delicious without it.

Related to the food, started with a calamari appetizer, and it was overcooked to the point where it was like eating crispy onions. It was not tender, nor was it hydrated enough since it was over fried. I would not recommend the calamari. Next the meatball appetizer, the sauce was appropriate and ample, however, not seasoned well. The meatballs were unseasoned and needed way too much salt to say that they were appropriately made. They lacked depth and were very flat. Onto the filet masala; the flavor of the sauce was good, and the mushrooms were cooked well and tasted very good. Unfortunately, the meat did not seem tender at all like a filet should be, I'm almost wondering if it was not a filet, but something masked as a fillet. It also lacked a tremendous amount of depth and flavor by itself as well. When I do these reviews, I like to be open and honest. I do have to complement this establishment on two things; first, the salad both dressings the champagne and the balsamic were delicious. They also did a tremendous job on their homemade bread. Very very good. Overall, I'm going to give this a rating of two out of five stars however. When you combine the price and taste of all of the appetizers and main course, it's just not worth it. The flavor in general was just lacking. If you want to go there for bread and salad I would highly recommend.

The menu is big, with all the Italian pasta, veal and chicken favorites you could want, but also with an extensive seafood menu, steaks, chops and salads. Station Square is apparently a Youngstown institution as it was celebrating 40 years! The restaurant is incongruously attached to a Super 8 motel, but don't let that throw you. This place is big, but it is well run. The staff is friendly. I sat down and my server appeared promptly and my food came out quickly, even on a busy Friday night. I had the salad of tomatoes and peppers, which is exactly what it was with a little oil and vinegar. Nothing fancy, but good. I had the chicken Parmesan with angel hair pasta. Very good. I finished with a blueberry cheesecake, which was excellent. I also enjoyed a professionally made old fashioned. It all worked for me!

The problem is, the place was packed and is clearly a very popular restaurant here. To start, the service was great! Everyone was super friendly and fairly attentive. Moving on to food. We shared two appetizers, peppers in oil and fried Zucchini flowers. The peppers were ok but had just a low quality olive oil that made them seem greasy. I've had fried zucchini flowers many times growing up in an Italian household but these were the worst I've ever had. They were overstuffed, over battered, and again, greasy! Not sure why they offer this dish when you can't taste the flowers at all as they are overpowered by everything else. Next, I had Chicken Marsala. I've had chicken Marsala all over the world, have cooked it many times, and I absolutely love the dish. This version was unlike any other version I've ever had with the addition of a ton of peppers. The chicken was cooked properly but the sauce was gloppy, didn't taste like Marsala, and seemed like it was cooked by someone who doesn't understand that the best Italian dishes should be simple and not "overhanded". The chicken parmigiana was the best meal out of everything they made but unfortunately the spaghetti it came with had waaaaay too much sauce and the parmigiana cheese (which we had to ask for) seemed like the low quality stuff you can buy in a jar at the supermarket. I guess the overall impression was poor quality Italian food made with average quality ingredients. If you like Olive Garden, then you'll probably be happy here as it felt like this restaurant from the food to the decor is stuck in the early 80s. One other note - the prices were very reasonable but as many Italian places in the US are, they don't understand that the main principle of Italian food is high quality ingredients combined with simplicity.
